Thrifty - Philly, PA Airport
The airport located in Philly, scammed and robbed me of $300. I was charge $300 more than what I initially paid for. They lied and said the call was dirty but mind you it was not. I had the rental for 3 days; this is a complete lie and scam. The company has no direct contact for the Philly location, I was transferred around multiple times through customer service in Texas. The Philly located knew that I would not be able to contact them directly face to face and by phone which is why this is a scam. They took advantage of the fact that I needed to take a flight and would not be able to speak with them face to face. I am placing this complaint to warn people to stay away from Thrifty car rental.
90 000 kms service
I, Sephiri Modisakeng with contact [protected]/ [protected] bought a car from Walter of Thrifty at [protected]. I went and collect it on 01 September 2017. Walter promised that he will make sure that everything that need to be done on the car is finished on date of collection, which particularly includes minor service as it was due (+89 000 kms). When I arrive and turn the ignition, I saw on the desh-board, "INSPECTION" and I said to Walter, man I cant take a car of this status. Walter then informed me that he should have taken the car for service as he promised me, however, due to pressure on other things he was unable and he further told me that I don't have to worry as I can take it to Lindsay Saker in Bloemfontein and Thrifty will pay. I went to Lindsey to book for a car and request quotation and forwarded it to Walter to prepare for payment. Since then Walter kept on saying payment was done but failed to send me proof. I ultimately took it for service and pay. I would like a refund.
Used auto sales
Ill start from the beginning, my sales person Mike and sales manager were great made it very easy for me to get what I wanted and the process was very simple. They get a 5 star.
Now the second day I had the truck the check engine light came on, No big deal rite, I took it and had it diagnosed at my mechanic's shop (family friend 15years) He told me the truck needed catalytic converter's. So the next day we went back to sign paperwork and I told them that the truck needed 'cats. They wrote a "we owe" for the cats and a couple of other small things. Well after 7 trips to there shop, still no cats replaced and have a check engine light still on is why I'm writing this very bad review. There service dept doesn't know whets is going on and the communication level sucks. I have offered to take it to the dealer just so they can diagnosis it, but No they have to figure it out for them self and still won't believe the cats are bad ! The quality of vehicles there are not dependable or can you trust what they are going to tell you STAY AWAY!

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Thrifty Car Sales. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and email, as well as 3 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
Thriftycarsales.com you are considering visiting, which is associated with Thrifty Car Sales, is very old. Longevity often suggests that a website has consistently provided valuable content, products, or services over the years and has maintained a stable user base and a sustained online presence. This could be an indication of a very positive reputation.
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- There was some difficulty in evaluating or examining the information or data present on the thriftycarsales.com. This could be due to technical issues, limited access, or website may be temporarily down for maintenance or experiencing technical difficulties.
- Thriftycarsales.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The thriftycarsales.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
- Thrifty Car Sales protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
Fraud and unprofessional behavior
They will scam you, charging you 3 times what the car is worth, charge you a high interest rate no matter you credit history, charge you more interest than you agreed to and you will owe more than contract price after the first year. They hire criminals to run your credit and take your payments. They will not fix anything wrong with your car, but they will tell you over and over they will take care of it until you get tired of asking. They will report incorrect information to your credit reports, incorrect payment amount, incorrect payment history. Just all around bad business and bad ethics.

These people call me 2 times a day leaving voice mails. Threatening to take me to court if I give them their piece of junk car back. Saying they will own me for 21 years. Telling me they will take me to court in Tampa and oh "he is a black judge" is what I was told. What the hell does that have to do with anything. Anyway I can just get out from under This car that I owe 8 grand on that is worth 1500

I purchased a 03 Lincoln LX from Thrifty Car Sales Approx Mar 1, 2009, I made all payments timely without missing a payment. I even paid off the car 8 months early. Thrifty reported my credit information up to the time I paid off the car. Then they not only stopped reporting they deleted all payments from the 3 credit reporting agencies, I spoke with the...

On 9/8/11 we were yelled at cursed at & bullied by two sales reps & the store manager. the manager promissed us a 15% intrest with 280 dollar payments monthly on 9/3 /11 when we first visited the lot. when we arrived today there was a 28% finance on the paper work. Before signing we asked the sales rep why the big change in the interest. he want back to speak to the manager that promissed us 15% mike taylor & he came out of his office & yelled at us said if we do not want the car to get the f&^% off his lot. he said I rather not do business with you any way. the other sales reps got in our face & yelled at us get the f*%$ off the lot you worthless piece of crap. I swear to everything that good in this world we did not do anything wrong all we did was ask questions regarding the contact as a consumer we have the right to do this. I would not advise anyone to visit this place ever. I am waiting to hear back from ceo or vp because we deserve an appology. so does my 15 yr old daughter who was there and experience the nasty curse words & the yelling & belittleing they did to us.
Deceptive Sales Practices
My wife Donna and I saved our hard earned money for 6 months to get Donna a new Audi A4 (Well, a used A4…as we knew that couldn’t afford the payments on a new one). After searching for 3 months; we found the prefect car at Thrifty Car Sales. They approved our financing; but could not deliver the car as it was being serviced in their in-house service...

These guys are liers! They promise things and then don't follow through with fulfilling their promises. They are rude, they have no ethics or integrity. They are unprofessional! I'm not sure how a company can keep these types of characters around. I purchased a car there and without a doubt my car was under repair longer than it was in my possession. I happened to be only a few days out of warranty, and I was advised after paying the diagnostic fee, that the vehicle need a new part, I asked the tech if there was anything they could do for me since my car had ran correctly since I got it, *stalling, sputtering, check engine lights on. The tech then trickled me to BO. Very grungy, shirt not tucked in, very arrogant, but yet advised me that he can absolutely replace the part I needed at Thriftys cost. I was reluctant of what he was saying, but he assured me just like any part time crook, no problem. He told me to talk to Mario to schedule me in to leave the car for the repair. Four days later, Mario calls me to advise me that the vehicle was done. He told me to come in right away, I then, went to pick up my car and I was given a bill in which showed an amount owed. Clearly I told him that that wasnt correct and advised him that Bo said it would be replaced at Thriftys cost, guess what..."Mario then advised me yes, the part would be replaced at Thriftys cost, the cost in which they get the part for from there parts dealer, I was mislead and force to pay the cost. I could have taken my business elsewhere. I then again tried to see if they would meet me half way after speaking to Bo, he then he trickled me down to his GM Dan. No hesitation from Dan he came to me and told me "unfortunately theres nothing I can do" and assured me it wasnt his fault that I was right outside the warranty(while lighting a cigarette). I was a little irate, and Dan immediately threaten to have me forceably removed by calling the cops, and advice me that I was to leave. Bo Rasoi (Sales Manager) just happens to be Dan's brother (General Manager) one is just husky and the other just so happens to look like he plays for the opposite side of the field, if you get what i mean... Are these the types of people you want to do business with? BEWARE! in fact in doing some research one of the two brothers has an extensive PUBLIC criminal record in hillsborough county. You be the judge.
FYI - flgirl is in all the complaint boards having to do with thrifty...wonder why, lol its their sister, yes thats right, a female version of Bo, the only pathetic person defending these crooks. P.S. sunshine yes you flgirl Get well soon ...

Scam! Liars! Frauds!
This company claims to be their own bank. They are not! They will lie and say you are pre approved with No Money Down... But when you go to their so called dealership, they then come up with excuses as to why the Banks can only approve you if you come up with money down. This company has several complains on the Pinellascounty.org website. Please do your...

I myself had a great experience with Thrifty Car Sales. I had gone to dealership after dealership to try to get a car. Every other dealership told me I needed a co-signer or I would have to put down $5, 000 in order to get a car. I walked in to thrifty and had a car with in a few hours and they worked with me on my down payment and allowed me to make it in payments. I got a newer car than I thought I would be able to at a better price than I could have imagined. I took the car to a friend of mine to have it checked and it passed with flying colors.
I have never been more pleased with a purchase I have made, and after dealing with all the other scummy dealerships around I was completely surprised to have such a great experience with Thrifty.
Thank you Dan, I appreciate everything you did to help me and I will be back to see you again when I am ready to buy again.

Terrible company
Thrifty car sales in Clearwater Florida abuses customers who have purchased warranty and or extended warranty options. Thrifty will have you schedule your vehicle and have you wait three to four days and still not fix your warranty item. Thrifty will tell you that the problem is solved and as you drive away, the problem still persists.
The manager Dan is a deceiving young man and his counter part Bo is just as bad. The lies the deception are ongoing and people need to make it stop. They have complaints all over the board and rebuttel by stating more lies. They put the customers down for having bad credit, but they are the ones making you pay extra for a warranty and option package not honored. How can a muffler and exhaust system fall apart in 6 days? How can the water pump fault in 11 days? Why does thrifty express absolutely nothing to the customer. I was told, we'll see if we can get it done this week. This is my only car. Thrifty then tells me to take it somewhere else and they may be able to pay. I spend the time to find another place, get the vehicle looked at and priced, Thrifty tells me no, that is not covered, bring it back. The vehicle needs fixed now and not later. I'm missing work and thrifty does not blink an eye. They will give every excuse to not help like the mechanic is sick, booked solid. The computer system crashed and it must have lost your information. The front receptionist quit and didn't leave a message. Dan is working on it-only to find out Dan is gone for two days.
Dan and Bo are terrible. People do not waste your time and money to Thrifty car sales.

Dealership Dishonesty
I would like to warn consumers about Thrifty Car Sales on US Route 19 in Clearwater, Florida.
The dealership will have you believe they have given you a great deal with warranty included on your vehicle from the location.
Please beware of what will happen when you find a minor or major malfunction in your vehicle.
1) It will take three weeks for you to be scheduled
2) You will leave your vehicle there for two days
without a phone call from Thrifty. You will call
to find out that they are working on it right
now. Do you believe that ?
3) Thrifty will tell you everything is ok and they did
a few minor adjustments. They will even wash
your vehicle.
4) You will notice that the same problems occur.
5) You call the dealership, The cycle starts again.
6) You now leave your vehicle again after a three
week wait.
7) No loaners...Company policy
8)Thrifty informs you that your vehicle is no longer
under warranty.
9) Dan or Bo, the managers, stop answering your calls
10)The office staff tell you numerous times that Dan
or Bo will call you back. Never happens.
11)You pay for the malfunctions out of pocket to
a REAL automative mechanic at another location.
12) Dan and Bo laugh all the way to the bank.
13) Another poor consumer enters Thrifty.
14) Go back to step 1
Pass this information to your friends and family.
Stop the deceptive Dealer and let's put them out of business.

There are signs and postings to avoid this place at the military base based on past experiences with the management at Thrifty and how they conduct business and service.
The postings on the web really do not help their cause either.
Bad service.
Bad owner.
Bad reputation.
Better Business Bureau = the three B's

I'll stay away.

Bad people
Thrifty car sales off us 19 in clearwater, florida is the worst dealership in the area. Thrifty sells vehicles under limited warranty that is not honored by the snakes operating the business. For example, my vehicle started experiencing electrical difficulties two weeks after purchase. Thrifty told me that i had to wait about 3 weeks to bring it in due to their shop being booked full. When i brought the vehicle in, thrifty managers were rude, told me they will look at it when they can, and give me a call with the results. I called four times to, i believe i spoke to dan and some guy named bo, and finally after 3 days, thrifty told me that i had done something to the electrical sensor and they could fix it for a little over $600 dollars.
I asked about the warranty. Bo or dan told me that the vehicles warranty had expired and they will call the police if i keep insisting they fix it.
People... Please avoid this place and i hope the police come for the snake managers at thrifty. You crooks steal money from desperate people and then laugh at us for wanting what is right. I really hope everyone avoids your dealership and you go out of business. You are people that have no morals and take money from customers who you are dishonest to. You are really bad people.

No complaint here! With our bad credit we didn"t think it would be possible to get a second car. Thrifty worked with us and we were able to get a very nice used car with no hassles! Thanks Guys!
I would like to reccomend Thrifty Car sales to anyone who has less than perfect credit. I bought a car there recently and they made buying a car easy, and financing it even easier. The people who work there are proffessional in dealing with buyers. There is no pressure to buy. Everyone was courtious. Overall I say to anyone looking to buy a car go to Thrifty and enjoy the car buying experience.
I got a car from Thrifty Car Sales. My husband and I purchased a car from here in July. We had a good experience. They were honest with the car payment and weren't giving us the run around. I wish it wouldnt have taken as long as it did but I am happy that my husband and I finally got a car that we liked and was in good shape.
I had a great experince with this company. I purchased a vechile from Bo and Dan...they were super helpful and pleasant. I was able to be approved after being turned down by large car companys because of my credit. I was able to get my payments low and a car that will carry me to and from work. I even got a carfax and to top it off they filled up my tank with gas to get me going! Great job guys.
The two gentlemen Bo and Dan were the ones making my experience amazing. They were very professionall and kind. i bought my Honda Acord last year and I'm very happy with it. They answered all my questions, were very friendly, honest and fast. Thank you Bo and Dan, Thank you Thrifty Car Sales. I would highly recomend Thrifty to everybody.
I went to Thrifty for a title loan to help pay off some past debts. I do not have the best credit history but they took in to consideration what I was using the loan for and were able to help me out. They were quick and got everything done that day. I really appreciate the fact that they were able to help me regardless of my past credit standing.
This was by FAR the worst experience i have had buying a car! The night I bought it the car got towed back! BE AWARE AND DONT BUY FROM HERE
DONT BE FOOLED AT THIS COMPANY, LIES AND FALSE PROMISES, READ LONGER REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BUY! TRUST ME I GOT FOOLED, DONT DO WHAT I DID!
MY WIFE AND I WENT IN HOPING TO GET A GREAT TRADE-IN FOR HER 05' SEBRING AND DROVE OUT WITH A 350Z CONVERTIBLE AND A F-150 LARIAT
I WAS AMAZED THAT THEY GOT THE DEAL DONE AT A PAYMENT PLAN WE COULD LIVE WITH.
The Thrifty car sales team worked hard to get me a loan. With my bad credit I had almost given up hope of getting a car loan. I drove away in a late model car in great shape!
Bad People
Thrifty Cars ( Dealer in Clearwater ) sold my grandfather a lemon and refused to acknowledge the fact and ripped off a 73 year old man.
My Grandfather saw a car on their website, called to speak to a manager, made an appointment, and proceeded to think he was getting a deal. He found out that Thrifty does not honor their word, warranty, or remember making any promises. I do not know how any of you can sleep at night.
DO NOT BUY OR EVEN GO NEAR THRIFTY IN CLEARWATER, FLORIDA. THEY ARE DISHONEST PEOPLE WHO I HOPE BECOME A DEALERSHIP THAT GETS SUED AND FORCED TO SHUT DOWN WITH THEIR SO CALLED MANGER AND SALES MANAGER GOING TO JAIL FOR THEIR BUSINESS CONDUCT AND DISHONESTY TO THE CONSUMER.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
sorry to hear that. what did your grandfather do? does he still have the vehicle? if its been under 72 hours he can still return it. or if the dealership contacts you about coming back to sign paperwork that means they probably don't have a contract that the banks will approve.
Should you need any help feel free to contact me.
Thanks
John

Service
Beware buying from Thrify Car Sales of Clearwater, Florida.
The vehicle we purchases was promised to be fixed of minor problems in a specified amount of time with no cost under dealer and automaker warranty.
The vehicle was worked on by their "master mechanic", and we picked the vehicle up noticing the same problems as before. We had to make another appointment, which Thrifty asked us to drop the vehicle off at a specied date. Thrifty then called me to inform me that the parts are no longer under warranty and the specified dealer warranty has expired. They could have their once again "master mechanic" fix the problems for $1800.00 plus labor.
Stay very clear of this Dealer and all who work there.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
We were very happy with the service we received from Robert, Dan and Bo, they were very respectful and kind, and helped us obtain a new car that we badly needed, and worked with us in every way to make sure we were able to leave the dealership with the car. We are happy with the monthly payment, and they were very helpful as far as the down payment was concerned. We will recommend them to everyone who is in the market for a new vehicle.
When I first applied for a loan, they said yes and I would need about $2000.00 down payment. The day of my appointment I was told they where to busy to handle me that day. I was told I would get a phone call by the next Monday by noon. That never happen. Then today 06/24/10 after writing to the again, I got a phone call from Bo, telling me I heed a hugh amount of money to by the car. There had been price given on the car I was, and it was not what I was told. I did purchase a car from them 4 years ago, and at that time the people working there where very good, I can't say that now, and I would not say buy from them the way it is run.
I received a phone call from Thrifty stating that i was pre approved for an auto loan, knowing that I don't have the greatest credit I wanted to make sure that they had what I already knew I would be approved for. They said everything I wanted to hear over the phone and acted as if they had my best interest at heart, so I made that very long trip to Clearwater, and it ended up in such a disaster. Thrifty car sales insulted my intellegence to the fullest! Not only did they not go with a good lending bank, they purposly tried to get me to finance with them at a horribly ridiculous APR, and even more ridiculous down payment! Then, to top it all off they sat me in one of their cubicles and talked to me like I was just a complete idiot. I will never return there, never rent a car from them, and EVERYONE I know, will know never to go to them!
***************************PLEASE BEWARE****************************************
I know that thrifty car sale from clearwater is a scam, their latest scam is sick. They sent people in naples and probably other citys...a letter or invite to come buy a car. On the front of the card it has a scratch off, three in a row, horizontally or vertically, diagonally and you win. Mine said $500 dollars in vertical row. I called the number this morning and it said your prize has been reserved. I went down to claim my $500 dollar prize and the sales associate said no, three in a row means you are entered in for a chance to win $25, 000 or $100 instant or three gold coins. I said, get the gold coins ready, because the other part of the scam is, you get a scratch card. On the scratch card you can only scratch six spots, if you get six gold pots in a row, you win the $25, 000, if not you get the gold coins. So the first place I scratched of course did not have a gold pot, so i lost already. But more than likely...they have no gold pots on the card or if they do, the odds of you picking the first spot and getting six are like a billion to one. And the $100 dollar instant win is a number on a paper at the table you are sitting on and you must match your number from the letter they sent you...to the table number to win. So I came away with three bucks, gas money lol. This company is a traveling carnival and any one who buys a car with them is just going to be the next sucker. The people who like this company are probably the friends or family of the people who work for them or they are part of the company.
1.i don't think it has anything to do with race. for the person above. i'm black myself. 2. i think its crazy that the people from the company are commenting on a blog. 3. my credit sucks because of my past and now that i'm in a better financial place i'm still paying for it. which is what led me to platinum auto finance and thrifty. i'm suppose to get a car this week. i prayed about it went there just like everyone else was told in the beginning that i didn't have to pick from them. now i'm told i can't and have to get from the lot. i found one i like wanted to speak with someone about the price. was told to wait. waited 45mins without any one approaching me from sales. then i was told to look online. found a reasonable price for the car i like. but the next day the price jump up. funny how its the same car i told them about. now let me explain. i had my doubts before i even searched for complaints on the web. those 45mins i waited i notice that every phone call i heard them make was exactly like the ones made to me and left on the phone. it was like watching a call center in action. the staff our a little rough. this place does not give me a good vibe. and i will not be getting a car from them. that $400-$500 for payment and insurance i was willing to pay a month i can save and pay off stuff and get new car by summer. screw them. in case someone has something negative to say about my post and think i'm influenced by the others . not true it's how i felt when i was there.
I definately will not be spending any money at Thrifty, and I don't recommend anyone spending their's there either. I understand that Thrifty is providing a service to those who have less than perfect credit, and I think it is awesome that they specialize in that, but there is a way that you should deal with people. I am a young african american college graduate who happens to be a female. Upon my SECOND visit there, I was completely ignored for over three hours. When I arrived, I was the only customer there. In the three hours I was there, more than three other customers came in and purchased vehicles(who shared none of my demographics), while I was left without an explanation of what was taking so long. When I finally talked to someone, it was the complete opposite of what I was told the previous day when I was there at the dealership. I was talked to as if I was less than human and just completely dumb. My money may not be gold plated, but it is green and spends just like the next person. I think they should definately take that into consideration the next time they treat someone like trash. Not to mention, I had already recruited about three other individuals who were in the car market and were looking to give Thrifty a try, but quickly advised against them purchasing from Thrifty. Hopes this helps detour someone from wasting their time like I did...
I myself had a great experience with Thrifty Car Sales. I had gone to dealership after dealership to try to get a car. Thrifty car sales ?
I've heard of the car rental business.
This dealership sounds terrible. If the manager Dan has to defend himself on the pages above, can you imagine how he handles himself and his business in person.
The best policy is to treat everyone equal and you would not have to defend your business and your work ethic.
It will be hard to make your dealership worthy of customers after the bashing you have done to your patrons.
Good luck Mr. Rasoi.
There are more than five complaining. Have you visited other sites ?
Jumping on the band wagon for deception is an easy way out for you.
The people who you have deceived should sue you.
Good luck to your business, you need GOD to Bless you for your morals.
Janet
I'm Dan Rasoi General Manager of Thrifty Car Sales I am here 6-7 Days a week. I do not remember the last time I spoke to a customer about a issue they had with their vehicle and refused to fix it. Anyone on this forum that has valid proof of any of the statments that they made of their vehicles breaking down and US refusing to repair them I will gladly pay for any exspense that you might have acquired. I make sure to the best of our knowledge that the vehicles leaving here are great cars. Occasionaly we sell [protected] cars AS-IS that are trade ins because it saves us a little instead of running at a auction. We sell those cars AS-IS for a reason!
The Funny thing about forum's is it only takes one person to complain to get everyone else to jump on the band wagon.
I stand behind any vehicle I sell.
I am all about doing what is right, but I can not please everyone. We have sold about 5, 000 vehicles since we opened and if only 5 people can find a reason to complain I think we are doing a great job.
Good Luck to all of you
God Bless
Dan Rasoi
