I bought not just one but two pairs of timberland pro work boots. They were not cheap (~$110 a pair) and were oil resistant, slip resistant, electrical shock resistant with steel toes. The soles disintegrated and cracked in multiple place all the way through. The upper leather and leather lace eyes were fine, but the soles were dangerous. I used them for construction work, hiking and walking around town and they should not have disintegrated and cracked. The rubber in the soles is clearly inferior. Too bad they don't make the shoes in the usa anymore. Twice burned. . . I hope my new red wings last longer.

This website has taken money from me and promised to deliver a pair of timberland boots within 3-5 days. Its now been 11 days and I've yet to receive my boots. They have now posted a notice on the website saying that any goods will not be delivered from 7 Feb 2010 to 29 Feb 2010. Don't think I'll ever see my boots.

Yes unfortunately I don't know if the Timberland quality is not there anymore. I had a similar problem with a pair of regular shoes, three months after purchase, the soles came out after very light use. And they were 100% legitimate bought in Reagent St, London. I was very disappointed

Imagine Timberland shoes I bought in States in the 90's, are still in excellent condition despite heavy use.

Strongly agreed.

I bought not 1, 2, but 3 pairs thinking that 'it had to be a mistake' ... (Over the coarse of a year), $100-$120 per pair depending.

Sadly, all three pairs look identical to the pictures you provided within less than 6 months !

In addition, the center of the soles split / cracked in half (from side to side) at the flexpoint / center of boot. Needless to say, they are no longer water resistant ! I assume this is caused by ladder rungs, as I do climb ladders, but not every day.

In response to JerseyGuy46, I did not abuse my boots and they also look like I "walked through sulfuric acid", these boots are not durable at all.

These boots are comfortable, but don't expect durability !

I dont know whats going on but I bought a pair of the Classic 8" "waterproof" boots. Just wore them for the 1st time after the NJ snow storm and ending up with wet socks. I bought a pair in 1978 that lasted me ab0ut 20 yrs. Anyway, I returned them to TImberland for their quality inspection. Hoping to get a new pair in exchange.

I had the same problems with my Pro steel toe boots, wore them three times, very light use, and the soles started to delaminate. The heels actually had chunks missing! I sent to Timberland and they found them to be defective and are shipping new boots back. Let's just hope the problem stops.

My review on the Timberland Website never got posted. Hmmmm... I wonder why. These boots are about 3 years old. Only worn about 6 times, stored indoors. The big brown chunk is the piece of the sole that has fallen off of the heel. The second photo shows cracks that go all the way through to the uppers. The third photo shows the heel of the other shoe.

Update: Okay 2nd pair of Classic 8" "waterproof" boots now letting in water. Timberland suggest I try another model boot (more expensive) and maybe they will actually be waterproof. I returned the boots and now im waiting to hear from them so I can select my new model and pay the difference in price. Since im paying to return all these boots, be nice if THEY paid the price difference but I don't want to push my luck.

Update: I finally got smart and switched to Georgia Boot, I have used them for a year now, and they are holding up very very well; I'm never going back to that Timberland crap - I feel like an idiot for buying more than 2 pairs, after they kept falling apart time and time again after only a few months - But NO MORE ! Georgia Boots are rock solid, goodbye TimberCrap...

I have had similar experience, [protected]) with Timberland 6" workboot ( Style # 24097). The first pair the sole became almost gooey and fell apart. To their credit they replaced that pair of boots. The new soles seemed a little harder. Those soles eventually, (after 1 yr.) disintegrated. I also am a little stubborn / slow-learner but I bought another pair May 2011, ( what I do like about this boot is it is very comfortable right out of the box ; but I can't afford to buy new ones every 9 mos). By December of the same year ( what, 8, 9 months?), the soles are cracked at that natural bend point like when you're down on your knees & then get up. The leather has not lasted very well either. It's got that "acid etched" look, ( I'm not religeous about cream but did bathe them in Obenauf's "Heavy Duty LP leather preservative" which, by the way, is supposed to be the best. It is very rich in bee's wax; it just feels like good stuff. I'm not that hard on boots. I'm on the farm only 1/4 of my time the rest I'm in office & wharehouse. I had a pair of Georgia boots that lasted me 7 years. I'm either going back to them or try Chippewa, (made in USA I'm not sure about the Georgia).

I have to agree with everyone else. I have gotten about 6 months out of both pair of mine. The first pair was replaced by the local retailer at the 6 month mark and now that replacement pair has cracked across the natural bend area just like the first pair. I had much better luck with my first non water proof pair. They lasted 2 years. very disappointing.

Their ad says that they sell original Timberland boots, but the timbs I received were fake. They were delivered from China and I tried to get a refund, but I can't because address is not specified. They don't have email address or phone as well.

Hey all, sure glad I found this site. Thank you for your great posts. I have a pair of Tiimberland Pros that are deteriorating at an alarming rate. The sole of only one boot is falling apart, but well before it should. These are obviously inferior-quality boots, and I hope to get Timberland to replace them, although I'm not holding my breath.

My background is as an electrician (20 years in the US Navy, 5 years Merchant Marine, and now 3 years with the railroad). Ships take their toll on boots faster than any other environment I've worked in, and the best brand I've found is from Australia. They're called Oliver, and if I could afford to get them shipped to my house, I would.

At any rate, these Timberland boots suck and if they won't replace them, this will be the last pair of Timberlands I wear.

Does anyone have any suggestions for American-made boots that are worth the money?

I'm a commercial electrician and I have purchased 2 pairs of Timberland Pro boots. They are pretty nice at first but the soles are complete garbage. The first pair split all the way across right about where the ball of the foot is, I thought it was a fluke and the boots were decent other than that so I bought a second pair. This time it was the Steel Trax 6-Inch Boot, not a cheap pair at about $150. I noticed that it had a different sole than my old model, which had a flatter sole. These have a rounded section wight where my old ones split and I hoped that they had addressed the problem. Unfortunately, that's right where they split, again. The sole is also shedding several layers of rubber, seems it is not one solid piece. I don't know if it's a material problem or a problem with the process they use, but I will NEVER buy another timberland boot for work. There are times where I really flex my boots, like when I kneel down and keep the front of my foot flat on the floor, but I thing that any pair of WORK boots costing over $100 should stand up to such use. Timberland "Pro" is all hype and no performance, the uppers are fine but the sole will wear out before a year is up with real use.

I have owned around 6 pair of Timerland Pro boots and every pair has lasted around a year. I wear out the soles because i work between 12 to 18 hrs a day. i found a really light and comfortable pair called Titans. They were taller and added more angle support. Unfortunately after 6 months i am experiencing the same problems everybody else is they leak and the soles were they bend have cracked all the way across. Also these boots have a softer sole so i figured they would wear faster but i never thought they would crack. Timberlands "work boots" so they call them are junk and a waste of money. I paid 180 bucks for these and i am severly disappointed. I am going to send them back. I already know their qaulity is poor now lets see how their customer support is.

I bought a 3in1 coat online for my husband on Aug 26th as a gift for the following month and paid $150.95 due to a sale/discount and free shipping over $100 items (Timberland usually runs this promotion). Well, when I gave the coat to my husband the next month and he tried it on, the coat felt a bit tight. It is the size he always wears with Timberland coats. He even had someone who wears the same size try it on and he said it felt tight. My husband felt there was a defect in either the lining size of the coat or the coat itself, maybe it was marked or manufactured wrong, etc.

My husband called on Oct 5 and spoke to a rep. He doesn't recall her name but we later copied our phone record to prove to Timberland that the call was made. It was 18 mins on 10/5 at 11:09 a.m. Timberland never followed up to see who the rep was that gave us the wrong info. My husband explained the problem with the coat on Oct 5th and the rep told my husband that the way to do it was for him to return the coat and that he would have to reorder the coat. She said he would receive the credit for the original coat ($150.95). But when she mentioned reordering another coat, I asked my husband to ask if they are going to give us the coat for the same price I originally paid. The rep was the one putting the order in for us and told us yes because we are getting the same coat but that it would initially charge $215.78 because the original sale price is no longer available but that she would put in the credit for the difference when they received the other coat and that it would take a couple of weeks to process.

This is where the problem lies because Timberland’s continued response is “I am sorry for the inconvenience but we can’t match the original price because it is past 30 days.” Timberland failed to answer some of my emails and I had to continue to call to try to resolve this. I tried explaining that what sense does it make that we would buy a coat, on Aug 26th, paying $150.95, make a phone call to Timberland on 10/5 for 18 mins and on the same day, reorder the same coat, size size but pay $215.78. We shipped the original coat back on the same day we reordered the same coat, same size. This occurred because that is what their rep told us to do. Do you think with today’s economy that we are going to pay $150.95 for a coat and repurchase the same coat, same size 5 to 6 weeks later but pay $65 more. Looking at the second order I noticed that when the rep put the order in she even charged $13.95 for shipping. It doesn’t make sense.

After the lack of an effort from Timberland to resolve this issue, I printed the label to return the 2nd coat because I refuse to pay more for this coat due to Timberland’s screw up and I see that Timberland has a 60 day policy for items that have a defect in manufacturing. So I become even more upset to know that the original rep should NOT have told us to reorder the same coat, same size but should have told us to return the coat, they would inspect it and then send us another one. So we got two wrong instructions from the rep and Timberland will not answer to them. I wrote another email stating that this situation was not under the 30 day policy but should have been handled as a defect but Timberland never answered, as of today. They don’t care. Let me clear up, that it was a defect in manufacturing on the first coat because the second coat we received fits fine. I am livid at how Timberland has ignored common sense in the way these transactions were made and didn’t stand by doing the right thing. I can understand if I purchased two different coats because that would make it appear as if we were trying to get another coat for the same sale price but this is the same coat, same size! I will never buy from Timberland again not only for the rep misleading us with wrong information but mostly because Timberland did not really take the time to go through the facts and instead when they replied would only say they can’t honor the original price because it is past the 30 days.

Never had issues with Timberland Boots, stricter quality control are needed on their vendors to keep them honest, especially when they are made in China.

Ive wanted a pair of Timbs for a long time. Got some 6inch work boots for the holidays cause i was going to be helping a friend out doing some farm work. It took three weeks for the sole to come off both shoes. My mate tried gluing them back down for me as they were my only work boot on the farm. Glue didnt hold out for long and the sole started splitting. So they last a month tops and thats walking with flapping soles for the last week!

I was given a pair of Timberland boots in 1996 and they were very good quality, I then bought a pair and they only lasted three months, I got a second pair and they are starting to come unglued. This is very disappointing since one pays good money hoping for good quality!

I bought a pair of Timberland snow boots (fur lined etc.) in the USA and then moved to the UK where they sat unused for several years. We've just had some snow in the UK so out come the boots and on return to the house we saw bits of rubber on the floor. The entire top rubber section of the boots had disintegrated with cracks through the sides down to the sole. Square inches of rubber (plastic?) just fell away and turned to powder. Like the others here the leather uppers are fine. Very disappointed that a very expensive pair of boots seem to be made out of such poor materials.

I just purchased a pair of Timberland Pro boots about less than 2 months ago and the bottom sole from the back is already ripping off... I purchased them at Sears and they said I have to go through Timberland I paid $150 for them to get the best! I got some boots from the swap meet for $40 and they lasted for more than a year. You pay for good quality and end up getting garbage! This is the first and last time I'm getting Timberland!

This was the letter I worte to Timbeland expling my problems with thier boots;

I am writing to your company for the second time in my life. First was in regards to a pair of timberland boots I purchased around 15 years ago; the sole was coming apart from the heel; you asked my to send the pair to you and you replaces them not questions asked. Now I am contacting you with the same issue but with another pair of boots; I can't believe that this happened again in the same exact way; the boot is coming out of the rubber sole. I tried gluing them like the last time but it was a temporary measure. So I ask your company again, is your company going to stand by its work? I only used these boots for 2 months and this should not be happening at all. I hope this is not the new way of your company; inferior products.

I sell timberland boots and yes they have had issues. But from the picture shown they look to have a lot of wear. If it were a brand new boot and it did this it is one thing, but to wear them for 6 months and the sole start to fall apart, that usually means you had got your wear out of them. Another reason to buy boots with vibram soles as the are a better rubber and hold up a lot longer. I do agree with timberland boots quality down grading. Carolina has great domestic made boots now, with sewn in soles and just overall better quality. You just pay for that quality though. Support U.S.A. made products, China boots are garbage.

I've been wearing my Timberland boots for three years now and I am finally now trying to replace the heel. I hope I don't end up with inferior manufactured rubber like this. One thing I have noticed about the company, the newest model of my boots is terrible! All the metal eyelets are replaced for plastic. It's not even on the Timberland website now. Perhaps they shipped some weird boots up to the Mark's in Canada. I'm actually looking at their Timberland Pro website right now and I cannot find the new equivalent to my boots at all. They're an 8" boot with a full leather toe. Is that so damn hard to ask for from you guys? New dang ol' boots!?

I bought a pair of Timberland Titans with the composite toe this is my second pair. My first pair lasted about a year before the bottom split where your foot bends I figured a year was pretty decent so I bought another pair. It hasn't even been 4 months and the bottom of both soles have split in the same place. Done with Timberlands

Dear,

I had to write you this letter because I did not expect to have a problem with the shoes brand Timberland. When my cousin went to USA I asked her to get me a pair of Timberland pro series shoes. I became a proud owner in spring 2011. But last winter, the soles disintegrated and cracked in several place all the way through as you can see from the pictures that I´ve attached. The personal in your reseller store in Belgrade could not (didn´t know how to) help me because I no longer have a receipt from the store and they do not sell pro – series in Belgrade (Serbia). Shoemaker tried to fix it but... I still cannot believe that this happened because I admire the brand Timberland. I´ve attached the pictures as proof for you to see. I will continue buying your products, both clothes and shoes, because I assume what happened my shoes is just an accident.
PS: in my previous letter, I expressed myself wrong by saying/writing that I had receipt, my bad 

Best regards and thank you in advance for your response,

I'm on my second pair of Timberland Pro steel toe work boots. I paid $160 for the first pair at Shoe Carnival. Two months later they were absolute crap. The sole came unglued from the upper and was flapping in the breeze. Thankfully some Shoe Goo bought me a couple more weeks but the problem returned. I took them to the store and they said no problem we'll replace them. The only inconvenience on Shoe Carnival's part was I wear a 15 and nobody stocks them so they ordered them. I've been wearing the new pair for three months and the same issue is back. Plus I've Found that the inner heal has a massive hole in it within a week on both pairs. So Shoe Carnival is bringing in a pair of Wolverines for me and they're giving them to me at half price because timberland has started giving them a hard time about warranty returns. I had real good luck with Wolverines in the past so here is hoping their Quality hasn't taken the same dive as Timberland. I definitely would not recommend these boots to anyone who wears a pair hard.

I bought a pair of Timberland Pro 8" Titan because of how comfortable they were in the store. I'm used to having to break a boot in for half a year before they're this comfortable. I bought my Timberlands almost two years ago and sadly, the soles on both boots had started cracking along the sides during the last year. As of yesterday, my right boot has cracked all the way through on the bottom along the flex point. While these are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, they don't seem to last very long. I'm also very easy on my footwear, somehow I can keep boots and shoes for 5 years easy, and wear them every day. I'm just not hard on my footwear and I don't know why. These boots didn't meet my expectations when considering longevity and that is too bad. I really liked them, they are my favorite pair of boots I've ever worn. I don't believe I'll be buying another pair as I expect a $140 pair of anythings to last me at least 5 years.
