Great concept, poor execution
This is a wonderful concept to fight food waste, but the restaurants on the app aren’t trustworthy enough to follow through on the promise and execution. I’ve used it twice now for two different restaurants in my area: One gave me a small portion under the stated value, and the other literally tossed in $5 worth of goods in a bag, including month-expired tofu. The app doesn’t have an easy system to flag this, and instead suggests contacting customer support for every issue, which is burdensome. I won’t be using this again until there’s an easier way to report restaurants who abuse the system.

Is it a joke?
I agree this app is about not letting food get wasted and instead give it away for a cheaper price. But then who is controlling the quality and quantity of food that’s sold. This is gap or a complete miss on the part of this franchise. I felt cheated. I paid almost 15$ for a few green leaves they called a salad and few strands of a tasteless pasta (both of which seemed like leftovers from someone’s plate), from this place called Il Pescatore Italian Restaurant & Bar in Seattle to the extent that I felt I might get sick eating it. Uninstalled the app that very minute. Never returning to this app.

Disappointed
I wanted a refund because I was taken to the middle of a highway with the location for the restaurant and then there was no phone number. When I reached out for help with a refund and letting them know this place has incorrect information, I received no help of any kind and no hope that anything would be done to spare others of wasting their time and energy as I have. I’ve also received food with mold on another occasion. I have only had one good experience out of three but at least I was refunded for the mold experience. I’m just very disappointed because this concept could be a good one if it was well managed.

Good concept bar service
While the concept of this app is a great idea to deal with the food waste it needs improvement. We should be able to see written reviews of other costumers. Also, not because you are paying 5$ it means that they can give a bunch of bagels that are hard as a stone and the same with a croissant. It looks like they have kept this food forever in their refrigerator and then they just give it to you. You could get a small frozen pizza at the supermarket for 5$ or similar and then cook it at home. The food just looks too old and bad and when you contact costumer service they just tell you that you can put it in the oven and eat it.
Not worth it.

Misleading marketing
I was a big fan of foodforall and thought this app would be similar. It must be the way this app markets itself to restaurants, because the places I’ve tried gave an extremely small amount of food despite being labeled as a meal, and made me feel like an inconvenience and a charity for using the app. I don’t feel like I’m fighting food waste. It is not comparable to a normal order from the same restaurant. Also no way to choose dietary restrictions, we received meals we could not eat. The developer needs to better communicate their expectations to the businesses or they are simply misleading users. User reviews of restaurants should be publicly visible.

Orders ALWAYS cancelled
I’ve tried to make an order through this app six times and four have gotten cancelled. I don’t know if it’s the app’s fault but these sellers in the Seattle area need to be held accountable. If they don’t have surplus food, they should not be advertising that they do. I don’t get the notification that my food has been cancelled until an hour before it should be ready for pick up, which is a major inconvenience because I planned my day around that.
Another thing I noticed is a lot of sellers aren’t actually selling surplus food. I saw one restaurant owner handing us food from the same pile he used to sell another customer food who wasn’t there to collect surplus.

Paid and got nothing. Waste of time
First experience with this app: they take my money and I didn’t get any food. I placed an order and when I arrived, the person in charge said that he didn’t have an order from me in the app. They had 1 surprise bag that was already purchased and picked up. He showed me his phone and low and behold, my order didn’t even show up in his app even though it was confirmed in mine. Why would your app say that there were 5+ surprise bags left when there was only actually one available for the day (and already purchased)? I paid for something that didn’t even exist. Yes, the app said it was going to give me a refund, but I drove all the way there to find nothing. Waste of time.

No response from customer service
So, I’ve been using this app over a month now. I absolutely love their idea and was happy to be part of it… until this Wednesday.
The story is: I placed an order at one of the stores, went for the pick up, and found out the store doesn’t exist. The address for which the app sent me to is a parking lot that clearly doesn’t have a market/store. So I figured there might be a mess up and contacted customer service. The website told me there isn’t a number to call and the only option is by submitting a feedback or sending a email. So I submitted a feedback and was told they’ll get back to me in 48 hours. Guess what? It’s over 48 hours and I hasn’t heard anything from customer service yet. Please, I love the idea of this app but execute it correctly please.

No notification
Eh! I tried this yesterday and I had to pick up my order 24 hours later. I thought I would remember, but life happened and threw me off schedule. So obviously I forgot. Yes, it’s my responsibility to remember and add it to my calendar or make a reminder on Alexa or write it down.
But why can’t the app have an automaticoffer to create a calendar event? Why isn’t there a clear easy way to set up automatic notifications for orders you place? That’s a no brainer to me. Any business that wants to maximize user experience does that. C’mon even USPS does it.
So now I just don’t care to do this because it already cost me $4. $4 to remind myself that I don’t have the organization skills to remember random days when to drive to the mall to pick some random thing up.
Whatever. The food isn’t worth the gas.

Horrible customer service
I order off this app several times a week. For the most part I’ve had a wonderful experiences. However in the few times that I’ve gotten orders from new vendors and the item has been inedible or should’ve been in the trash I’ve reached out to the customer service and have not been able to get a refund. I have even submitted documentation of what I have received but in their eyes if it still looks like food then it must be edible. I literally got wilted and mushy produced from a local grocer in town and they told me that that food could repurpose for some thing so therefore I shouldn’t get a refund. Another time I received food that was totally in edible and again was told technically I received $16 worth of food for $4.99 so I should be happy. The customer service on this app definitely needs to be better.

Lack of transparency
Hard to tell how good a restaurant is if I can’t read any reviews. I want to know how many customers have tried a place and what was their satisfaction level. A couple of places wrote that the food they had would best expired but still good to eat. I don’t want to leave it up to someone else to define what “good to eat” is. The category of it’s a surprise is too broad if I want to cut down on food waste I need to know if it will be a meal or just random items I will toss in my own trash. If it’s $4 for $12 worth of food it is not very much of a discount for a chance item. If I’m supposed to be buying the idea this is better for the environment and small businesses I would want to see how much or what percentage too good to toss takes. How exactly does it being a surprise help the environment if people receive food they don’t eat? App seems currently half baked with little options and no transparency. Interesting concept hope it improves.

Wouldnt close our store
Hi!
We have had some very large issues;
First; any day we didnt have leftover food, they would still allow people to order from us and we would have to turn them away, even though we would mark on the app that we had no items.
Second; we closed since my boss retired. We talked on the phone and email multiple times telling them we were closing and to take down our store and they said they would, but we still got orders days later when we were closed.
Third; we had many orders that we filled in December yet they are pretending we havent gotten any December orders. Where is my boss’s money? She needs that, shes elderly and her husband is sick.
Last; trying to contact them is almost impossible at least on the business end; they have a live chat and phone number, which rarely have people on them to respond (not even a voicemail). Or you can fill out a form for them to email you back.
Its a good idea but id much rather see the food going to homeless or lower class families that need it too.

App is for a good cause but it is not worth in Vancouver Canada
I really love the idea but in Vancouver Canada the app is not up to my expectations. My 1star is for 2reason:
1. The value which is shown in the app like 21 dollars worth of good for 6.99, the restaurant does not give that. I get what i pay for. If I ask the store about the value they get all upset about it saying that’s not how it works. So basically I can buy it from store without using the app. There is no surplus. This seems very sketchy.
2. Recently I got 5 of my products from a store expired the value shown was 21 which I bought for 6.99. During my purchase I was was not told that I would get expired goods. Some had expired 6 months back. When I reached out asking for value of 21 since it will definitely not 6.99. TGTG did not refund my money they gave me a voucher. So basically now my money is stuck. Expired goods are not surplus they are bad sale strategy by the store. TGTG should not promote this. In Canada it is legal but then discouraged.
NEVER using this again for using and wasting my hard earned money.

I paid for a too good to go bag from aldi in foxhunters when I arrived they said there were no bags the money is pending to come out of my bank how do I get a refund on the 20/06/24
Very dissatisfied with service three times this week I have ordered and three time it was cancelled in the last 25 mins even though I had to drive to each destination. They should give more notice instead of the last min so upset by this

I went to Morrison in Mansfield, they sent me an email 6 minutes before collection to cancel but I was already there. I wasn’t happy at all. Collection time was 7:15 and they emailed 7:09.
Fell asleep twice, lost money. Don't waste. Your money.
