They sent me dead turtles and wouldn't give me a refund
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. I would give zero stars if I could, and I wish I had checked their BBB rating before doing business with them.
This company sent me dead Eastern Box Turtles...TWICE. I didn't know that Tortoise Town and CB Reptile are the SAME COMPANY (aka Next Generation Enterprises). I ordered from Tortoise Town first, which promises overnight delivery, but that didn't happen. The Eastern Box Turtles SHOWED UP DEAD (as in they baked to death on their way from NJ to AZ), and when I asked for a REFUND, THEY SAID NO, but they would send me another set of turtles. Why would I want a company that failed the first time to send me more turtles?
Meanwhile, I placed another order with CB Reptile for 2 Eastern Box Turtles. I didn't know at the time that they were the SAME COMPANY. These turtles also showed up dead, but this time I had the good sense to take their temperature. These turtles showed up several days after being ordered and were 105 DEGREES! The "cold pack" was 107 DEGREES!
Same deal. Wouldn't give me my money back. I had to dispute it through my credit card company. These people actually claimed that I was a "thief" for wanting my money back because I accepted the "Terms and Conditions." Turns out the Terms and Conditions say, "We guarantee they will arrive alive," so it was easy for Chase to go to bat, and I got my money back. I have pictures and videos of all of this because I wanted to be able to show how terrible it was.
It's just mean to send turtles a second time, knowing that they didn't show up alive the first time. Don't give them money because if something goes wrong, it's on you somehow, never mind the animals they ship.
Recommendation: Avoid at all cots
TortoiseTown's photoshoppped fake "Ivory Leopard Tortoise" picture
Beware that TortoiseTown purports to sell "baby ivory leopard tortoises", and on their website page for this, they show a photo of a whitish colored baby leopard tortoise being held sideways in the air between someone's thumb and forefinger. This is a fake photo-shopped image. And there is no such species as ivory leopard tortoise that breeds true. When regular leopard tortoises start to grow up, then the coloration and designs on their shells start to develop, and a few of them turn lighter. That is what some people loosely refer to offhand as a white leopard tortoise. But zero leopard tortoises look like that as babies, such as on the fake bait photo on TortoiseTown's website. If you order this from them, you will receive a random dark brown baby leopard tortoise from whatever breeder leftovers than can finagle from someone else to fulfill your order. If you complain, they will just say "we have a biologist on site who confirmed it's the right tortoise." This is meaningless, and it seems to be their automatic catch-all response for any complaint they don't like. PS - If you really want a light colored leopard tortoise, then buy one that is a little bit older directly from a breeder who will show you the individual picture, and who is already showing light colors, so you know ahead what you are buying.
Recommendation: I recommend to not buy anything from this sheisty company.
Tortoisetown Review: Healthy Pet Arrival But Shipping Delay Issues
Ive herd of ppl ordring tortoises n gettin very sick n unhelthy tortoises or turtles, the rong turtles, or nothin at all. I ordred a crested gecko so im not sure if that has anythin to do with havin a good order, but she arived in seemingly pretty grate helth so far. The very big problem for me is the fakt that it took a month or so for them to even ship it to me. I got a notice out of no where that my order had been completed and they were shipping it, so I checked my orders and I got a tracking number and it arrived the day after. If you get anything from here make sure not to forget about it or else you might have an animal in a box that you didnt even know was supposed to be arriving. Overall it was an ok experience, didnt think they would actually send my animal though.
I am a pet lover and I was feeling really hesitant to order a tortoise online. I had heard so many horror stories about being sent the wrong animal or even nothing at all. But then I heard about Tortoisetown (tortoisetown.com) and decided to give them a try.
I ended up ordering a crested gecko and I have to say that it arrived in really good health. I feel like I made a good decision in choosing Tortoisetown. Although I am not sure whether the healthy arrival of my pet has anything to do with certain factors or not. But anyways, it's been almost a month since then and my little friend is doing remarkably well.
However, there was a big issue during the ordering process. It took way too long for Tortoisetown to ship the order. It had been almost a month and there was no update from them. But then one day, out of nowhere, I got a notification that my order was going to be shipped. I checked my orders and found a tracking number for it. Although I was skeptical at first but it arrived the next day - which was quite a surprise. So my advice to anyone ordering from Tortoisetown would be to never forget about your order and to keep checking up on it regularly just in case they take too long to ship it.
Generally speaking, I had an okay experience with Tortoisetown - considering the worry and anxiety beforehand. But honestly, I didn't think they were actually going to ship my animal but thankfully that was not the case. If I had to give any suggestions to the Tortoisetown then it would that they should try to improve their shipping time and notification system.
The order took a long time, because secretly they are not reptile breeders. Instead, they are reptile flippers. After you placed your order, then they had to quickly find what you wanted from other reptile classified ads.
Poor Communication and Frustration: My Experience with Tortoisetown
My first experience with Tortoisetown was when I bought a box turtle. It was a beautiful creature, and I was excited to welcome it into my home. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that I wasn't allowed to have it shipped to my state. Did anybody tell me that? No, they didn't. I spent three days calling and emailing Tortoisetown, trying to figure out what the problem was. It was a frustrating experience, and I wasn't happy with the lack of communication.
Eventually, I found out that I had to purchase another turtle. It was a disappointing experience, but I decided to give Tortoisetown another chance. This time, I made sure to order a turtle that I knew I was allowed to have shipped to my state.
However, I waited three days, and the turtle still hadn't shipped. I tried calling Tortoisetown, but nobody answered the phone, and I couldn't leave a message. I also sent emails, but again, no response. I was worried about the turtle's well-being and the lack of communication was quite frustrating.
I decided to demand a refund and threatened to report them to the BBB of New Jersey. It wasn't until then that Tortoisetown finally responded. They gave me a refund, but there was no explanation for the delay or lack of response.
Overall, I was disappointed with my experiences with Tortoisetown. I don't think I would order another animal from them in the future. If you want to deal with professionals, I would not recommend this company. Communication is key, and Tortoisetown needs to work on their communication skills.
Poor communication and customer service at Tortoisetown - not recommended to buy from them
Tortoisetown seemed like a good option for us to get a crested gecko. We thought our money was well spent as we promptly paid the fee. However, after a few days, we noticed that we had not heard anything from the company about our gecko despite their not posting that it was out of stock. So, we emaled them again to know when we can expect our new pet. The response took longer than expected, and we were told that the company needed to watch the gecko for 7-10 days to ensure that it was safe to be picked up. Still, we did not hear back from the company, so we emaled them again, asking when the 7-10 days would start, since we were unsure. But they said that it started from the day we ordered.
We waited for a few more days and grew concerned about the absence of communication from them. Our husband rang their offices, but there was no answer. The waiting game continued for two more days, with no word from Tortoisetown. As per the company's site, they are expected to respond within 24 hours, but that was not the case for us. We once again sent an email, but still no response. We finally gave up and requested to cancel our order.
Upon their response, we were told that a 20% fee would be incurred as part of the refund protocol. However, we disagreed and challenged it since they failed to communicate with us on every level after taking our money.
It is not recommended to buy from Tortoisetown as their communication and customer service leave much to be desired.
Buyer Beware: Tortoisetown Sells Under False Pretenses and with Shady Business Practices
So, I must say that Tortoisetown really let me down. I was hoping to get a MALE Eastern Hermann tortoise, but what I got was a FEMALE one after eight months of waiting. And can you believe they actually charged me ten bucks extra for sex preference, and not to mention, I never got the tortoise calcium vitamins! When I called them, they said they would give me a fifty dollars credit, but honestly, I don't think I'll be ordering from them again.
Their website says that the tortoises sold are for educational purposes only, and that they are sold under or over 4 inches. But let's face it, we all know we're buying these little guys as pets! It's a load of crock that they're claiming to only sell them for educational purposes.
Another issue I have with them is that I never agreed to their terms and conditions when ordering, yet they still charge extra for sex selection, even though they don't guarantee the sex. What a scam!
To make matters worse, it seems like Google has caught onto their shady business practices and removed Tortoisetown reviews due to policy violations. But hey, don't worry, I'm here to tell you the truth about them. So, if you want to avoid getting ripped off, I suggest you look elsewhere for your tortoise needs.
Warning: Terrible Experience with Tortoisetown - Avoid at All Costs
On or around the date of May 26th, I made a purchase of a turtle and some supplies from Tortoisetown (tortoisetown.com). Unfortunately, after waiting several weeks for any update on my order, I decided to contact the company on June 9th using various methods, including phone calls, email, and Facebook messenger. However, despite my attempts, it appeared that Tortoisetown was not willing to communicate with me.
Feeling suspicious, I decided to leave a review to warn others of my experience. After posting my review, the company quickly got in touch with me, offering to provide the turtle and refund my money if I removed my negative review. With little choice, I accepted the terms and removed my review. However, to my dismay, still, there was no update on my order.
Days passed, and I attempted to contact Tortoisetown once again through Facebook messenger. But, this time, my messages could not be delivered because the company had blocked me. Furthermore, I received a text message that said my order had been cancelled, leaving me with no other option but to file a dispute with my credit card.
In conclusion, I would strongly advise others to avoid doing business with Tortoisetown (tortoisetown.com). My experience with them has been anything but satisfactory, and others can also find a plethora of negative reviews about this company on Google. So, please beware, and do not make the same mistake I made!
Disappointing experience with Tortoisetown: Ignored my note, charged unreasonable restocking fee
I bought some tortoises from this website, Tortoisetown. I put a note in the order section asking for them to not be shipped right away. This was because I had a problem with the cage where I wanted to put them. The day after I made the order, on a Monday morning, I gave them a call when they opened, but nobody picked up. So I left them a voicemail and then sent an email asking for them to cancel the order.
Later on, on Monday afternoon, I got an email from them. It said that they had already packaged the tortoises for shipping and would have to charge me a 20% restocking fee if I cancelled the order. I was really surprised and asked them why they needed to charge so much. They told me that I hadn't read their terms and conditions, which said they charge this fee. I argued with them over email for an hour because I really didn't want to pay this fee. But in the end, I had to give in and pay it so I could get my money back.
I'm really disappointed with Tortoisetown. They seemed to be dishonest and tried to make money from me even though it was their mistake that they overlooked my note. I really hope that one day they learn their lesson and start treating their customers better. It's really not fair to charge restocking fees when they made a mistake.
Tortoisetown Review: Buyer Beware, Sick Turtle and Poor Customer Service
Bought two turtles from Tortoisetown. One of them was real sick when it come home. Tried lotsa different things to helf him, but he was real weak still and didn't move much at all. Contacted Tortoisetown 'bout the turtle, but they didn't care too much. They only wanted to know 'bout what kinda food, tank, and lights we was using. Sent 'em pictures and explanations 'bout everything, but they didn't see anything wrong. Sick turtle just sat in one place - on heater or underneath heat lamp. Other turtle was real healthy and active, though. Tortoisetown couldn't do nothin' and don't give refunds unless the turtle dies in 7 days after you get it. We took sick turtle to vet hospital, they gave us antibiotics. Tried that for 8 days but it didn't help. Turtle died. Sad 'bout our pet dyin'. Hope review gonna help other people stay away from this bad company.
Warning: Don't Buy Turtles from TortoiseTown.com - My Disappointing Experience
So, let me tell you what happened when I tried to order some turtles from TortoiseTown.com. I was excited to get 3 female yearling Japanese Pond Turtles, so I placed my order on a Monday and my credit card was charged right away. I waited for a tracking number on Tuesday and was hoping to get my turtles by Wednesday. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.
I tried to contact the company, but their phone was out of service, so I sent them an email. I was worried when I realized that Next Generation Enterprises LLC was behind this site and another one called TurtleStore.com. They had the same phone number and website language, which made me skeptical. I did some research online and found that the contact addresses were incorrect. I thought I had fallen prey to a scam.
To my surprise, I received an email from TortoiseTown.com on Wednesday evening, saying that they needed to wait for 2 weeks to make sure that my turtles were healthy when they arrived. I had ordered yearlings, not hatchlings, so 2 weeks seemed like a long time to me. I was afraid they were going to send me the wrong kind of turtles! To be fair, they offered to cancel my order and charge me only a 20% restocking fee, which I accepted.
The problem was that TortoiseTown.com had not updated their website to reflect the lack of stock. You can't even add out-of-stock turtles to your cart, so I had no idea that there was going to be a delay. I felt like I had been misled into buying turtles that they didn't have. It cost me more than a hundred dollars, and I still didn't get any turtles. I don't think I'll be buying from TortoiseTown.com again.
Poor Customer Service and Health of Animals at Tortoisetown - Not Recommended
So, I got a lil hatchling from Tortoisetown, but it was not in the best health. So I went to their website to message them for help, and then I called them like 10-12 times over a few days and didn't get no answer. I just wanted to know what to do to make my lil guy feel better. Thank goodness I got some help from some peeps on Facebook! Then I sent an email to their support email address and still didn't get no response for a while. Finally, when they did respond, all they did was make excuses and blame the pandemic. I mean, I get it can be tough, but they should still take responsibility, you know? If they can't handle it, they shouldn't be shipping live animals until they sort things out. And then they responded to my review on Google, saying they always answer their calls, but that is so not true! All the bad reviews say the same thing, they don't answer the phone. They still haven't sent everything in my order, and they ain't giving me no info about it either. It seems like they just want to take advantage of the pandemic and get more business, without caring about their customers. Honestly, there are lots of other people out there who take better care of animals and their customers. So I wouldn't recommend Tortoisetown at all.
Avoid Tortoisetown: Poor Customer Service, Shipping Issues, and Unhealthy Pets
I wouldn't recommend getting yourself any animals from Tortoisetown. Everything about the process was a major hassle!
My partner mistakenly chose the wrong gender when we put in our order. We then tried to contact Tortoise Town to get this changed, but their customer service is extremely difficult to navigate. After a lot of back and forth, we finally received a message that they would alter the gender before sending our pet and charged us yet again.
When our new chameleon arrived late, we didn't receive any updates. This was totally fine, but it would have been much nicer had the team let us know about any shipping issues instead of being so unsure about how to proceed. Ultimately our little chameleon was not what we had paid for, and our connect with Tortoisetown to fix the mistake in the order went ignored.
We figured that everything would go smoothly once we had our pet in our hands, but we were wrong. Even though hatchling reptiles especially need time to adjust, our chameleon was obviously not given any time to relax and was shipped to us immediately after hatching. On top of that, our pet now seems completely unwilling to eat or drink anything.
To be completely honest, we think that Tortoisetown is a total ripoff. Please do take care not to order any animals from them at any cost.
I really wasn't pleased with the way that Tortoisetown treated us at all. I wrote a review mentioning this on their Facebook review page, and they blocked me straight up instead of actually sorting out my problem. I can only imagine how many other people have had similar negative experiences. Please make sure to be careful!

Review of Tortoisetown: Wrong Turtle Sent & Poor Customer Service
Ok, so I thought I'd give Tortoisetown a go and ordered myself a turtle. But, when it arrived, I couldn't believe it - they had sent me the wrong type of turtle and it was all beat up! I mean, come on guys, get your turtles in a row!
Anyway, I tried to contact them about the mix-up but it took them ages to get back to me. I had to send them like a pile of emails just to get any sort of response. Even then, all they offered me was a measly 10% off my 'next' purchase. Which, let's face it, probably isn't going to happen.
It's like they're totally oblivious to the fact that they've messed up - all they care about is that sweet, sweet cash money. I tell you what, if you're thinking about buying from these guys, think again. It's going to be more hassle than it's worth!
Tortoisetown Review: Frustrating Shipping Experience and Lack of Communication for Yellow Belly Slider Turtle
I just went ahead and bought a yellow belly slider turtle from Tortoisetown. Although they emailed me a receipt, they completely neglected to inform me about the shipping and tracking details. I was only able to see overnight shipping as my shipping option, and I ended up dishing out $39.95 for a single turtle. But the problem is, the turtle didn't arrive the following day, or even after a few days. I didn't hear back from them, not through email, phone calls, or even their Facebook page. It's pretty hard to get in touch with them, quite frustrating really. I kind of wish that this was just a fake website, at least I'd have some peace of mind knowing that there wouldn't be any turtles suffering and dying inside boxes. Honestly, I suggest not wasting your money and time.
Buyer Beware: Negative Experience with Tortoisetown
I got a tortoise from Tortoisetown and it was supposed to be a turtle. They gave me a boy when I wanted a girl. I paid a ton of money, over $400, and I was hoping for a healthy tortoise. Instead, I got one that looked like it had some problems with its shell, which made it look funny and unnatural. I don't think it was being taken care of very well. I spent even more on extra stuff I wanted and they never gave it to me. If you look around online, you can find a lot of sad stories from people who also had problems with Tortoisetown. They don't seem like a very good place to buy a pet, and you should probably try somewhere else.

Buyer Beware: Poor Quality and Customer Service from Tortoisetown
I spent around 300 dollarinos buying a turtle from Tortoisetown, but when it got to my pad, it was all sickly and wouldn't eat. I tried to hit them up through email for three weeks but didn't hear nothing back till they finally replied with a sad face. They said the one-week guarantee had expired and they could not replace the dud tortoise. The hatchling they sent me was just a few days old too. And it only lived for about two weeks. Bottom line, I reckon you should go and buy your reptilian friends from breeders who have a rep to maintain and will stand behind what they sell. These dudes will flake on responding to your cool questions, send you newborns, and then won't do right by them.
Buyer Beware: Tortoisetown Sold Me Dead Turtles and Refused to Help!
So, I had high hopes for Tortoisetown and ordered some turtles from them. Unfortunately, when the turtles arrived, they were all dead! I was devastated. I emailed Tortoisetown right away to let them know what had happened and to see if they could help me out.
After waiting a few weeks, I finally got a response from them. However, the response I got was not at all helpful. They basically told me that I couldn't get a refund and that I would have to pay for shipping again if I wanted replacements. I was really frustrated by this because I felt like it was their fault that the turtles had arrived dead in the first place. But, since I really wanted some turtles, I decided to pay the $40 for shipping again.
And then, to make matters even worse, Tortoisetown stopped emailing me back altogether! I was so angry and upset that I had basically been scammed twice from one purchase. I even buried the dead turtles in my yard, which was really depressing and a waste of about $300.
What's really frustrating to me is that it's actually illegal to sell turtles that are under 4 inches in any state. I can't believe Tortoisetown would do something that's against the law!
Overall, I would not recommend buying turtles from Tortoisetown. They were unhelpful, caused me a lot of stress and frustration, and didn't follow the law. I really hope they fix these issues so that others don't have to go through what I did. But until then, I will be leaving this review up as a warning to others.
Bad Experience with Tortoisetown - Dead Turtle, Poor Communication, Confusing Labeling
I had a pretty bad experience with Tortoisetown. I ordered a male common hatchling snapper and a female turtle from their website, but unfortunately, when they arrived, the male turtle was dead on arrival, and the female one seemed extremely sick and barely moving. I tried to contact them through phone, email, and even social media, but it was almost impossible to reach them. Either the phone lines were busy, their mailbox was full, or I didn't get any response at all.
Besides the health issues with the turtles, I also had some trouble with their shipping process. They only sent me the tracking number for the turtles two hours before they arrived, and it wasn't even from Tortoisetown – it was from UPS. On top of that, they didn't inform me about how and when my other products would be shipped, so I was left in the dark about those as well.
Another issue I had with Tortoisetown was that their labeling system was a bit confusing. They only labeled the lids of the turtle containers with the sex of the turtle, so there was a chance of getting them mixed up. Not cool if you ask me.
Overall, I wasn't happy with my experience with Tortoisetown, and I'm considering suing them for a refund if I have to. It's frustrating to spend money on something and not get the service or product you expected. These guys are just plain careless and unprofessional.
Tortoise Town Review: Poor Customer Service and False Advertisement Resulted in Tragic Loss of Pet
I personally think it's important to research things before you do them, and I wish I had done that before buying a tortoise from Tortoise Town. My family and I ordered a Greek tortoise from them that was supposed to be one year old, but we ran into a couple of issues with their customer service. For starters, the tortoise did not show up on the day that it was supposed to. When we finally got a hold of someone at Tortoise Town, they were not very friendly and even seemed like they didn't want to help us. That's not cool, you know?
Then, when we received the tortoise, we noticed that it wasn't looking too good. We decided to take it to the vet and that's when we found out some really bad news. Our tortoise wasn't actually a Greek tortoise and it was way older than one year old - it was more like five! We were shocked and a little bit angry to find out that it was taken from the wild. That's not cool either, you know?
The worst thing about all of this is that our tortoise died just two days later. That really sucked, and we tried to contact Tortoise Town to let them know what happened and to see if they would do something about it, but we haven't heard anything back from them. In my opinion, that's pretty lame.
In conclusion, I don't think it's worth buying anything from Tortoise Town because they clearly don't care about their animals or their customers. I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through what my family and I went through with our tortoise. It's not cool, you know?
My Tortoisetown.com Review: Wrong Turtles Delivered & Poor Customer Service
So, I ordered a couple of YB sliders from Tortoisetown.com and when I received my package there were two southern cooters inside. I was kind of disappointed, but maybe it was just a mix-up.
I reached out to Tortoisetown about the mistake and they took a while to get back to me. But after some back and forth, they offered me a "partial" refund or I could send the wrong ones back.
Honestly, I was annoyed that I even had to deal with this. It wasn't my mistake, and I shouldn't have to pay any extra money to fix it. So I told them I would send the turtles back if they paid the $40 shipping.
Their response? "As previously stated we can offer you a partial refund."
Sorry, but that just wasn't good enough for me. I specifically wanted YB sliders, and I didn't get what I paid for. So I asked for a full refund.
Long story short, Tortoisetown wasn't willing to budge. And honestly, I don't think I'll be ordering anything from them again.
Just a heads up for anyone considering doing business with them- make sure you double-check your order when it arrives!
Warning: Tortoisetown.com is a Scam - My Experience with Phony Tracking Numbers and No Delivery
I bought a turtle from Tortoisetown (tortoisetown.com) for almost a hundred bucks last week, hoping to get it delivered on Tuesday. But, you know what? They gave me a phony tracking number, which nobody could track on my shop app and the UPS website. It was supposed to be delivered within a few days, but it's been over a week, and there's no sign of my pet. Can you believe it? These folks are real scammers!
And the worst part? They don't even bother to pick up my calls or reply to my emails. I feel cheated, you know. I tried so hard, but they just don't care. I suspect that all those good reviews are fake and generated by people who might receive benefits. So, let me tell you that if you care about animals, turtles, and tortoises, don't trust this shady website. They'll take your money and run, leaving you high and dry.
I want to warn all my friends, family, and followers on social media about this immoral and deceptive website. You should be careful while purchasing things online, because you never know who's on the other side. Don't make the mistake I made. Stay away from Tortoisetown, and save your money and time.
Deceased Turtle upon Arrival and Unhelpful Customer Support by Tortoisetown
Got me a turtle from Tortoisetown not so long ago. The cost was a real steal, just 30 bucks, and an additional 40 bucks extra to get it shipped to me. At first, it seemed like smooth sailing - the turtle arrived right on time and I was ecstatic once I got my hands on the box. But then, as I opened it up, I was absolutely gutted - the poor thing was dead as a doornail. I was so gutted that the entire experience felt like a huge letdown.
Suffice it to say, I reached out to the folks at Tortoisetown with a heavy heart and brought the issue to their attention. They were very polite and just full of apologies, asking me if I could send them photos of the dead turtle. I didn't understand why they wanted pictures - the turtle is clearly dead - but I went ahead and sent them anyway just to keep them happy.
They then offered to send over another replacement turtle as a remedy, but with one caveat - I had to pay for shipping again! I was stunned at the proposition, especially since I had already paid $70 for a deceased pet. I tried to tell them that the turtle had died right out of the box, but it didn't amount to much. In the end, I was left with a $40 bill if I decided to take the replacement offer, with no guarantees that the next turtle would be alive and kicking.
After much deliberation and plenty of back and forth with the Tortoisetown support team, I finally decided to opt-out of their offer altogether. Instead, I just decided to look elsewhere for a better breeder. The folks at Tortoisetown were less than helpful, and I can't say that I would ever recommend them to anyone else who wants a decent turtle.
