RE: BBB CASE #: [protected] UniBlue.com/Cleverbridge E-Commerce Partner

Dear Nita Virghes:

I am writing in response to the following information provided on May 24, 2011, to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Chicago, by Richard Krolikowski, Cleverbridge Inc.

Please note, on May 24, 2011, (the same day the BBB, Chicago received their response) the Customer Support Team, Cleverbridge Inc., sent a response in an email to www.complaintsboard.com which states:

Dear Roger,

Please allow us to apologize for any inconvenience that this ordeal may have caused you. We have reviewed this issue extensively and have been working diligently to assure your satisfaction with this transaction. As you know, we have been in constant contact with yourself, Uniblue Systems, and MasterCard to exhaust all possibilities of a satisfactory resolution regarding this issue.

Mr. Krolikowski in his response, failed to mention that the refund to the gift card was due to “Terrible Service” by UniBlue.com and the charging for duplicate products.
In any event, when a customer is about to purchase RegistryBooster, the UniBlue.com website states: “RegistryBooster optimizes your PC by servicing your registry. If, for any reason, you are not pleased with our product, contact our customer support team within 30 days of purchase and we will refund the full purchase price.”

I do not accept Mr. Krolikowski’s position. Please review the following as they transpired:

• Feb 6, 2011, I purchased RegistryBooster 2011, for $29.95, from UniBlue.com via the internet. I used a pre-paid gift card to pay for this product.
• March 29, 2011, Sarah, Customer Support (CS), UniBlue.com recommended that I upgrade my purchase to PowerSuite 2011 for $39.95. This upgrade includes three products in the PowerSuite which are RegistryBooster, DriverScanner and SpeedUpMyPC. Sarah did not tell me at the time of purchase that one of the three included RegistryBooster, which I already had and could not substitute; DriverScanner; which was incompatible with my old computer and caused it to crash and SpeedUpMyPC; which actually worked. I requested a refund.
• April 1, 2011, Sarah, CS, UniBlue.com sent an email to advise a refund would be processed for the PowerSuite 2011 pending everything being deleted from my computer. When I uninstalled PowerSuite 2011, it also removed both RegistryBooster’s as I had two installed on my computer. I requested a full refund for both products.
• April 4, 2011, Richard K. CS, Cleverbridge Inc., provided a credit for $39.95 Reference Number 2127084. This was the first time I spoke to Cleverbridge as I never heard of them before and all CS before that were from UniBlue.com and well aware of my gift card payment arrangement.
• April 19, 2011; received an email from Helen, Customer Service Manager (CSM), UniBlue.com which states: “Kindly note that I can confirm that your orders were refunded on the 1st April 2011. I suggest that you contact you bank if you still have not received the mentioned refund”.
• April 20, 2011; I sent an email to Helen, CSM, Uniblue.com, to advise that I still had not received a credit for the first RegistyBooster. I attached copies of my credit card statement showing the only refund received was for $39.95.
• April 22, 2011; Richard K, CS, Cleverbridge Inc., in an email stated: “Our records indicate that this refund was issued as of April 11, 2011 back to your MasterCard ending in 0349”. RegistryBooster for $29.95 was credited April 11, 2011, Reference Number [protected], to my old gift card. Mr. Krolikowski will like you to believe that this is the first time I have spoke to Cleverbridge in this regard.
• April 25, 2011; Helen, CSM, Uniblue.com, in an email states: “Kindly note that refunds from our end are only able to be refunded to the same credit card which was used when the order was placed”.
• April 25, 2011; Helen, CSM, Uniblue.com, in an email states: “We do apologize for any inconvenience caused in this matter but from our end we have processed the refunds as per your requests. If you are having issues with the refunds, I suggest that you contact your credit card issuer and discuss further with them”.

• April 26, 2011; Frank, CSM, Uniblue.com, in an email states: “Please understand that as a global e-commerce player, Cleverbridge are bound with various international laws and policies to safeguard the interest of their customers. I can assure you that they deal with a multitude of 'fraud' cases, were people (sometimes professional in what they do), try to trick systems in order to gain money that does not belong to them. This is one of the main reasons why Cleverbridge only refunds money back to the original credit card used. We have had quite a number of cases before where for some reason or another the original credit card would no longer be available and a new one issued by the bank - for example if it gets lost/stolen or perhaps just expired and a new one issued. In all of these cases, Cleverbridge would still return the money on the original credit card and the bank concerned would take care of linking the transaction with the new credit card”.
When a customer is about to purchase RegistryBooster, you have to look towards the very bottom of the website to find and click “Terms and Conditions” and “Privacy Policy”.
Terms and Conditons: Clause 6 Payment by credit card states:
When paying by credit card, the Customer shall provide their full credit card details for each order (cardholder name, card number, expiry date, CVV). Furthermore, the Customer hereby provides their prior consent for cleverbridge to charge the payment for the order to the respective credit card company, particularly for online transactions.
Cleverbridge will take all reasonable measures to protect the credit card details against unauthorised access by third parties. The Customer is aware that unauthorised access to such information by third parties cannot be excluded, especially during the electronic transmission of such information. The Customer's credit card account will be charged online when processing the order.
Privacy Policy: #5 Payment Procedures states:
We provide our customers with the various payment methods, such as credit card, bank transfer, cash payment, direct debit, PayPal, check and giropay, etc. For payments by credit card, we require your credit card number, the card's expiration date and your credit card's security code. Your payment details are then transferred to our payment provider for transaction processing. For payments by direct debit, we require your name, your account number and the bank routing number. Additionally, you can also pay for goods by check or in cash. In this case, we will not require any information other than the delivery address. In order to ensure a secure, encoded transfer of your personal data, we use the SSL (secure sockets layer) standard on all our websites. This means that your personal data and the payment information provided during our ordering process will be transferred securely.

Unfortunately, no where on the UniBlue.com website did Cleverbridge Inc., or UniBlue mention how they deal with Gift Cards either during the transaction or what happens should a refund be required. Also, Cleverbridge obviously knew about VanillaMasterCard’s standard practice of charging a $9.95 fee for issuing a new card.
Subsequently, considering the circumstances, Cleverbridge, could have accommodated me by crediting my new MasterCard account or simply mailing out a cheque.
Now I will be waiting again for VanillaMasterCard this time, to send me in six to eight weeks, a new “Twenty Dollar Gift Card”. $29.95 - 9.95 = $20.
In conclusion, I believe that Cleverbridge Inc., are responsible and accountable for the circumstances and should act in “Good Faith”. This should also be true for all those customers who filed complaints against Cleverbridge Inc., on www.complaintsboard.com.

Sincerely,

Roger Grant

Uniblue Systems shady company

I purchased Uniblue's Powersuite software which includes: Registry Booster, Driver Updater and Speed Up My PC. The Driver Updater caused my computer to crash and I had to pay $130 to another company to wipe my computer and rebuild it. I contacted Uniblue via email which is the only way you can contact them, and they said I would receive a full refund, no problems. Within 2 days a "pending" credit showed on my bank account and it remained for 6 days. It has now dropped off without any actual credit being received. I contacted them via email and explained the situation and received this "After checking our records I can confirm that order [protected] has been canceled and refunded. ". That's it. Do not do business with this company. Not only can you not call them, they only give virtual credit not actual credit for crashing your hard drive.

Uniblue Systems refuse gift card refund

PERSONAL/CONFIDENTIAL

Subject: Uniblue/Cleverbridge "Poor" Customer Service

Attention: Christian Blume, CEO, Cleverbridge

On 02/06/2011, at the recommendation of a family member, I purchased with a MasterCard Gift Card, RegistryBooster 2011 @ $29.95, which included System Tweaker 2011 free. Reference: [protected]. I did not have a problem with RegistryBooster during this time period. This Gift Card purchase was used in full and was destroyed after use.
On 03/29/2011, Uniblue.com recommended I purchase PowerSuite 2011 @ $39.95, which inclued PixelPerfect free. Reference: [protected]. I downloaded this product, only to find out that now I had RegistryBooster twice, DriverScanner: which was not compatible with my computer and Speed Up my PC which really did work. For the price it was not worth it! Cost me more money to repair my computer after it crashed after using the DriverScanner.

My problems began with your very unhelpful Customer Service Representaives at Uniblue.com and now Cleverbridge. I have to admit, my profession is not a physic and did not know in advance these problems were to occur or I would have kept the "Gift Card" for order number [protected]. At first I had requested a refund just for RegistryBooster 2011, I would keep PowerSuite 2011 if I could switch DriverScanner with something else. The answer from Sarah, CSR was "NO". I was told that is why I got such a good deal on PowerSuite was because I had purchased RegistryBooster 2011? However, I did not need two RegistryBooster 2011 and since DriverScanner did not work I ended up having to cancel both products.

Now to Cleverbridge. Because I purchased the product on a "Gift Card", which I might add was planning to keep...they refunded it back to a gift card I no longer have. Now they are advising me to contact a credit card company and deal with them directly. Kind of hard, when I no longer have the Credit Card, Number or CVV #. Further, Cleverbridge will not void the transaction and credit my MasterCard or at least send me a cheque.

Not all your Uniblue products are the problems, your customer service and follow up are.

Positive language is the art of using words and phrases to create a positive image in the customer’s mind-with an emphasis on what can be done, not on what cannot. Using positive language shows a willingness to serve and a commitment to building customer loyalty. It’s especially important to use positive language when saying no or delivering bad news to a customer.

Customers need to feel that they’ve been heard and understood, and that doesn’t happen without good listening on the part of the customer service representative. I’m not sure I’ve ever consulted in a customer service environment in which I didn’t recognize poor listening as a strong contributing factor to poor performance (and by extension, poor service).

Confirming satisfaction also accomplishes a smooth, subtle shift in “ownership” of the issue. When the customer says in his or her own words, “Yes, I’m satisfied, ” the transaction is complete and successful—in the customer’s mind as well as in yours.

I am sending you this email as a courtesy, as I am sending a copy to Cleverbridge CEO, Christian Blume and Better Business Bureau.

Should I not receive a favourable response from Unible.net in this regard by May 20, 2011, I will forward all documentation for investigation Olson on Your Side, Consumer Reporter, CTV News.

Sincerely,

Roger Grant

Uniblue Systems i'll not purchase from uniblue again

I had their Registry Cleaner on my laptop and used it a few times. The reports claimed to have corrected the errors it identified. Not sure that they existed, but that is not the issue... A pop-up window appeared offering an update, which I accepted. The "update" removed the entire program from the computer and terminated. The only things remaining are two folders; one containing the notepad text of the action and the other, an empty folder that formerly contained the program. So much for the update. I'll not purchase from Uniblue again. Buy at your own risk.

Uniblue Systems money coming out of my account

I have just seen £23.74 has been taken out of my account on the 26/02/11. Now I have not used this card in a long while, so do not understand why this money has come out of this account! I also have been given a bank charge for going over my authorised overdraft limit... I have reported this activity to the fraud section of my bank, as I cant believe someone has the audacity to do something like this...

On April 28, 2001 an unauthorized charge was attached to my account without my knowledge or consent by Uni-blue Registry Booster. This is for a renewal of services without your consent. No one from that company notified me prior to this unauthorized renewal. I wish to cancel this and receive a refund of this money. How would I go about this? Not able to find any contact information on their site. I've attached proof of this unauthorized transaction posted to my checking account below.

Uniblue Systems this cowboy company comes on to your computer without invitation and you can not get rid of them

This cowboy company comes on to your computer without invitation and you can not get rid of them, you try out their trial version "hooked" the scam begins, then you get your bank statement a month later and they have taken out the price for the full version, because they ask you for your details for the trial version, then they download their product on to your computer then you can not get rid of them. I complained to the company involved, and they said that I had 30 days to get a refund. I did apply for a refund but they told me I was to late. So for all you guys out there do not get "scammed" by these "crooks" who are based in malta. And by the way you can not get rid of these "scavengers" off your computer, so change your bank card because they will charge it next year without even asking.

Uniblue Systems unauthorized autmatic renewal charge

A little over a year ago, I had terrible problems while installing business software and peripherals in a new computer I purchased. I was told I had registry issues. So I found Uniblue Registry Booster 2009, purchased and installed it. Two power cycles later, the computer melted down. I had to take the machine to another company who rebuilt it. They said that the registry was all messed up. Never touched it again. Obviously, bad coding for my computer...

Fast-forward to 11/16/2010-
I get a charge on my Visa account showing a Cleverbridge has charged a renewal amount of $29.95. Through some digging, I realized it is Uniblue automatically renewing my subscription for 2010. I NEVER AUTHORIZED ANNUAL CHARGES TO MY VISA! I have also read other complaints that show the selection for automatic renewal is preselected and the consumer has to go through another step in order to 'OPT-OUT'.

This is rediculous! And certainly not legal! The Uniblue people (Jennifer at customer support) are actually defending their renewal process! DECEPTIVE and ILLEGAL business practices!

NEVER DOWNLOAD REGISTRY BOOSTER OR ANY OTHER UNIBLUE PRODUCT. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SCREW YOU, YEAR AFTER YEAR!

This was my reply to their justifications:
Jennifer/Hilary,

Thank you for your reply. Understand that the only reason I discovered this is because I just found your emails in my junk email of an account that I don't regularily use. YOU CHARGED MY ACCT WITHOUT AN AFFIRMATIVE DIRECTIVE FROM ME. According to the Minnesota State Statute of Frauds, this is an illegal act. If you do not fully refund this charge AND HALT ALL SUBSEQUENT charges, I will seek all alternatives regarding Uniblue and Cleverbridge at my disposal, including but not limited to, Better Business Bureau reporting, State Commerce Dept and Attorney General Office, and legal action through my attorney (for damages far greater than the renewal charge).

The initial annual charge notice for this was deceptively located and did not require an affirmative selection from me to authorize this action.

I expect this issue to be cleared immediately!

Regards,

I just experienced the same issue with Uniblue and consulted with my VISA card agent. Unreputable companies (which I just learned) like UNIBLUE, bury conditions in the fine print which they know nobody takes the time to read and then automatically pass through a renewal debit on a yearly basis. VISA informed me there is nothing they can do to block these charges UNLESS you send UNIBLUE an e-mail cancelling the subscription. Then if charges continue they can credit your account. I was billed for two product renewals from UNIBLUE and now thoroughly regret dealing with this company which incidentally is headquartered in Malta making legal actions next to impossible. All we can do is continue reporting these types of violations and making the internet aware of these 'risky propositions'.

Uniblue Systems money taken without authorization

Uniblue Systems deceptive advertising and sales practice

Uniblue run a scam where they supposedly offer a product for free if your purchase their Registry Booster Product. The following has happened over the past couple of weeks:

SCAM 1. They have increased their SRP of Registry Booster to $39.95 but offer a constant $10 discount, which nets it out to their original $29.99. This is falsely leading a customer to believe they are getting a discount.

SCAM 2. They supposedly offer a free product to the value of $29.99, which is NOT sold anywhere else and therefore has no real value. The free product doesn't even do anything of value.

SCAM 3. They recently increased the supposed SRP of their free product from $29.99 to $39.99 to make it look like they are offering an even better deal. What they forgot to do, however, is change the price in their shopping cart. So, you see 1 price in the pre-cart page ($39.99), then the original price in their shopping cart ($29.99). WHAT A SCAM!

Check out the screen shots for proof. I can't believe these scam artists are allowed to get away with this type of practice.

Uniblue Registry Booster is a complete scam. Yes, it is scareware and will find errors on a fresh, virgin Windows installation. Most of the time you can uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, 7) in control panel. If this does not work, use System Restore to revert your system back to a date before you installed this junk. If this does not work, you can take your machine to a pro, you can re-inatall Windows, or if your machine is a "branded" unit (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc) you can probably restore it to its factory configuration. Sadly, any re-install or restore will wipe out everything on your drive, unless you know how to scavenge files onto another drive. I have killed this monster by using Winternals ERD Commander and manually deleting any files and registry entried associated with it, but this is probably beyond what ordinary users can do. JUST AVOID ANY REGISTRY CLEANERS, BOOSTERS, OR OPTIMZERS. They are useless junk even if they don't hurt anything. The same pro that can remove Uniblue can also fix the REAL problems that were slowing down your machine at the same time. If you want to throw money at your PC, call a local expert.

First, registry cleaners are not needed. They are absolutely useless. A vital entry missing in your registry can make Windows not boot, but loads of useless, irrelevant stuff won't phase it one bit. If you think cleaning the registry speeds things up, you are observing the effect of a placebo in software form! Second, and most important, If Uniblue's offerings were merely ineffective and free, they would be faces in the crowd. However, both the software and the vendor's marketing methods scream "THIS SOFTWARE IS ITSELF A VIRUS, AND IT IS MARKETED BY CRIMINALS." The proof that the software is bogus is in several posts above in this thread. When you install it on a fresh install of Windows, it "finds" hundreds of viruses. Since Microsoft does not ship infected products, the scare scam is revealed. If you try to get your money back, it is a crap shoot. (pun intended, sorry, I could not resist) They just refund money to enough customers to get positive comments on blogs and confuse everyone. The majority are subjected to a variety of flim-flams which look like errors, but are carefully crafted to deny refunds. The only good news is that computer techs, such as myself, can usually get rid of the Uniblue slime, if either "Add/Remove Programs" (XP), or "Programs and Features" (Vista, 7) in Control Panel can't, or in extreme cases if System Restore can't. So far I have not seen a Windows install destroyed by Uniblue. I have seen destruction caused by customers' attempts to remove it, so be careful if you try this. If the simple methods referred to in this post do not work, search for more methods, or call one of us insufferable geeks to help you!

I purchased the SpeedUpMyPC and very quickly after the install, I was advised to upgrade to the Registry Booster which I foolishly did. After the install I was advised that I needed to upgrade to yest another program because it would fix everything! And yes I fell for it again and you know where I am going with this: sure enough after that install I was told that only a small fraction of "my issues" could be solved so if I upgraded to, well you know the rest of the story. My advice: stay away from Uniblue.

I purchase Uniblue Registry Booster on the 25/7/11.
An update message appeared on my screen indicating updates were available.
After installing this update I discovered that my recently purchased version was no longer registered and could not be used anymore unless I paid an additional $29.95.
They play on people forgetting about this type of issue because they have done this to me once before.
Uniblue gain credibility by riding on the back of Microsoft. They are quick to advertise their "Microsoft GOLD CERTIFIED Partner" details; but not so fast to publicise their deceptive practices.

Uniblue has completely ruined my partner's Samsung lap top, it's now been reset to factory settings after hours of work. The positive comments in this forum can ONLY BE FROM UNIBLUE EMPLOYEES. I have never EVER taken time to write a complaint about a program like I am doing here but I feel so strongly that people NEED TO BE WARNED about these SCAM-ARTISTS. The only reason I am not swearing is for the sake of children who may read this one day. Uniblue Registry Booster is a COMPLETE SCAM. It exploits vulnerable people, scaring them in to thinking they have multiple errors when they do NOT. I have had good experiences with Spybot Search & Destroy from safer-networking.org, but again, be careful not to download a similar or copy from a copied site. Windows have services and free software available, use that. Get rid of Rgistry booster by Uniblue as soon as you can, and demand a refund from your credit card if you paid anything for it. Your bank should be able to refund you without any questions if you just say they took the money without authorisation. That's what my girlfriend said and they refunded her Visa Debit payment straight away, even though it was done several months ago.

Uniblue Systems unauthorised visa debit

Just processing my business accounts and find a debit as below on my Visa Card

I downloaded DriverScanner ($29.95) via UniBlue & CleverBridge which was an unsatisfactory product and I stopped using it, about a year later, 08/03/2010, I was charged an additional $29.95 (AutoRenewal) which I was unaware of and which also came at the wrong time and overdrew my account, I strongly recommend not buying/downloading anything from UniBlue or Cleverbridge.

You have to scroll 3/4 of the way through the cover letter for the first invoice to see this statement that you agree with by no response. They know people will look at the receipt more carefully, so nothing about follow-on charges is included there.

Uniblue Systems deceptive practices; poor product performance

Buyer Beware - Arcane business practices are used in order to dupe consumers out of recurring charges. Customer service (misnomer) while polite, is impotent and unable to make even basic corrections.
It's sad that more and more companies like this are popping up in todays society; it makes you miss the brick and mortar stores where customer service meant something
P.s. - I agree with some of the other postings on the software being on the lower end and I think that my computer actually ran worse after installing it. My recommendation is to stay away from this product.

Uniblue Systems market / phishing scam

Trying to open a file I was suddenly scammed into a purchase which involved numerous restarts, deadends, repeat operations and circular directions, spending 29. 95 on a nonexistent program which appears in the end to be a virus itself. Please advise on any possible recourse / revenge... Thank you very much!

I Danielle Aitken, have just recieved a charge for an automatic resubscription to Uniblue.
I did not authorise this and I do not want it . I was not asked . It just appeared on my credit card, dated 15/11/11.
I think this is unethical and I would not use Uniblue again incase this happens again .
I wouls like a refund.

Purchased and downloaded Uniblue Power Suite on 8 May 2011. It immediately caused problems on my laptop, causing it to freeze. I immediately de-installed the software and e-mailed the company to tell them of the problem. I was contacted by someone from Uniblue customer service offering to work with me to solve the problem. I informed them that I wasn't interested in anything other than a refund, and that I had completely un-installed their product. Since when, now word, and of course, no refund.

On 18th January (processed 20 Jan) 2011 my visa card was charged in the name of www.store.uniblue.com Koein De for a program/service which I had not authorized. The fee was in Australian $ converted to NZ $.
In 2010 I bought and paid for their product and found that it made no difference to my computer performance and deleted it from my computer. I have not contacted the company since to renew any subscription etc.

I purchased and have been using this software for 2 years. Now suddenly the software will scan but not allow me to perform the suggested fixes. The software shuts down after the scan shows multiple errors and there is no way to run the fixes, it immediately shuts down after the scan. I have uninstalled, reinstalled to try to get it to run, no luck. I pay for the software (and like a dummy have been doing so for 2 years now) so I called the customer service phone number. The tech, in India, that logged into my pc did the same un/re install I did then transferred me to a level "3 Certified Microsoft Windows Tech" who showed me all sorts of things on my pc to scare me into paying another $170US to have him "fix it." Fix my computer... really? Their software is the only problem I'm experiencing, after multiple attempts in different ways, to get CleanUpMyPC2014 to run the suggested fixes. I paid for the software so there should be some accountability instead of trying to scam me into paying more money to have their special "technician" in a foreign country do nothing but steal money from unsuspecting customers. Shame on you Uniblue, I had been one of your supporters until now. I should have a prorated return of my fee since your software, that I paid for, quit working!

Uniblue Systems was charged $29.95 I received nothing

I too was charged for something from Cleverbridge, for Uniblue.com, I have emailed and emailed both companies and no one has answered me back. But the card that was used was my Arco Master Card, I just opened the account, it's a prepaid card connected to my bank. I have called them to tell them that I never authourised these charges, so I'm waiting, and I have also called my bank too to let them know.

Uniblue Systems did not honor valid gauranteed refund request

I bought uniblue speed up my pc on 6/4/2009. It did nothing useful at all. I requested a refund the day I bought it. There is allegedly a 30 money-back guarantee. I received no response to many requests for a refund over the next few months. This company is obviously not actually certified by microsoft, as they claim to be. My order number for the purchase is: 6101760.

A friend of mine purchased a week ago or so Uniblue Speed It Up from Clever Bridge. It was paid from Argentina with an AMEX credit card. It was full of malware that kept arising in spite of all efforts to get rid of them... American Express has been notified of this.

Hello All,
I have a serious doubt in Uniblues activities.
I ordered the "RegistryBooster" in april 2009. (My old laptop was dying...)
The programme did no good (at least I did not observe anything...)
Anyway; My credit card was charged 29, 69 €. At the time I did not complain, because I found a solution to my laptop-problem from another provider.

Last month I recieved an e-mail from Uniblue. They offered an update "without additional costs" . Ok, I downloaded the upgrade "for free" and now they charge (through Cleverbridge) me for another 29, 69 € !

Please ladies and gentlemen (I refer to Uniblue and Ms. "Hilary Rogers" id she still is there)
do not act like this... Now I have to complain and bar my credit-card (not an big issue, because I´ll get a new in 2 days)

Not happy...
