Last time I went to red robin we had great burgers and service was fantastic. My wife and I had a craving for a gourmet burger and we both said, lets go back to red robin.
We went last night and I never remember ordering pink or no pink. I always have said med-rare - but the server had no idea what that meant. My wife said as long as it was not burnt, but she want med-rare as well. Apparently the staff had no idea what med-rare was. Mine came out solid on color - well over cooked and very dry. Have not had lunch and it was after 8:00, I ate it anyway due to be very hungry. My wife took one bite out of her burger and immediately set it down. She does not like any kind of burnt patties. After waiting for several minutes for the staff to return to check on us - you know - "how's everything tasting for you" that normal restaurant always ask. Well apparently not this one. We even tried to figure out how to call someone over with that little kiosk machine, but could not find - get a server over to my table button n their either. When she finally came over, I had completely ate my burger, finished my 2nd root beer float, my told her it was cooked extremely over done - absolutely no "pink" whats so ever. And way to many burnt marks. My wife asked if the waitress could take it back because my wife did not want the burger. The manager (I guess - not dressed very professional at all) came over and said that the burger was slightly over cooked on one side but there was still pink inside? Ummmmmm - dude, it was well done and burnt. Even mine was well done, but he did not even want to hear about my burger. He had told my wife that the waitress said, my wife did not want another burger - wait - what? She never said that. She wanted to send that old one back. My wife looked at me in confusion. I just said, nope we are fine - we are done. Did not even want to play these games.
When the restaurant has more people cleaning up the tables and floors instead of taking care of their customers. There was food sitting under the heat lamp for several minutes that could have went out to the customers. You could have came back and ask if I wanted another root-beer float since they are supposed to be bottomless. I guess after your first one, the bartender has to make them for you and it takes about 10 minutes to do that (mind you there was only about 7 table full of patrons, not like it was busy or anything).
Now lets talk about the burgers. What has happened to the meat? I remember that r.R. Used to have gourmet burgers, but not last night. It looks like someone took a patty from burger king, and threw some toppings on it and charge me 3x the price.
- heck - wendy's has thicker patties of meat than rr did last night.
The manager took the burger off our bill since he insinuated that my wife did not want to order a new one. I guess they wanted to get us out the door so they could finish cleaning - all of this before 9:00 even though the restaurant stays open until 10:00.
It was a train wreck of events that happen last night, and i'm not sure if we will ever return to rr - most definitely not that location.
Feel free to contact me for more information because I can only type so fast and my thoughts about last nights experience out paces my typing fingers speed.
