Visionworks of America - Service

Date of service: 6/16/23

Time: 11:00 am

I decided to try the new Visionworks, closer to me. I wish I had gone to my original Visionworks. My vision remained the same, so I ordered contacts. I also asked for a prescription for Restasis. I've been taking this for 10 years since I have a chronic dry eye issue due to a side effect from taking thyroid medication. Not only was I not given a prescription, but I was also told to buy certain products to treat dry eye and a referral was sent to a dry eye place.

I did not ask for a referral, nor did I ask for over the counter meds. He claimed it would save me money. He said if I wanted Restasis, the dry eye place would prescribe it. Again, I did not ask for any of this. So, I spent $60 on the OTC stuff. I thought the doctor gave me a prescription, so I went to a local pharmacy and noticed that I did not have the prescription. I went back to Visionworks and talked to a person working there about my prescription; she thought I was referring to my contacts. You work at an optical place and don't know what Restasis is? Why is it so difficult to get Restasis? It's not a controlled substance. The other doctor (no longer there) at the other Visionworks had no issues prescribing me this as there is no side effects.

Needless to say, this dry eye place kept calling me and leaving messages to make an appointment 30 miles away from where I live. I canceled notifications.

One last important item: I was charged $42 for a contact fitting which is fine. However, the doctor never asked me to place my contacts in my eyes or look at my glasses. I said this twice to the front desk and they told me that since I'm ordering contacts (the same brand for many years), I had to pay for the fitting fee. What?

I will no longer visit any Visionworks, ever.

Desired outcome: Refund me the $42 for a contact fitting fee. I would ask for Restasis but I'm so disappointed and furious that I just won't set foot in Visionworks again.
