To whom it may concern,
Today, October 3rd, 2023. I made a visit to your CVS location at 816 E. Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801; to pick up medication (Acyclovir 200mg) for my daughter due to a virus infection that was causing a high fever. I was deeply disappointed by the way I was treated and how the situation was handled. I was transferred to this location because the original location (San Gabriel) did not have this medication in stock. When I arrived to this location, I explained my emergency situation to your staff but they didn’t seem to care at all. My 3 year old daughter was waiting/suffering in the car with a high fever accompanied by grandparent. After waiting for over 20 minutes with an answer or response, I asked if anything I can do to expedite the process, staff member (Michael) behind the pharmacy counter advised that they didn’t receive the transfer information (when called San Gabriel office, they confirmed information was indeed sent); the other staff member advised that the name was wrong, then another advised the gender was wrong on the order? I ended up having to wait one hour before I was allowed to pick up daughter’s much needed medication (while having a high fever). The office was not busy at all as there was nobody waiting in line nor anyone in the waiting area. Also, Michelle was extremely rude and condescending. There seems to be a lot of miscommunication amongst the staff causing such unnecessary delay (while knowingly risking my daughter’s health and well-being). When I asked if they received my daughter’s medication transfer information, Michelle smirked and made a very irresponsible comment “if you can’t wait, you can go somewhere else and we are the only location with this medication”. As a mother and a business person, I understand delays and mishaps can happen. But the way this situation was handled, I felt suppressed. I deeply question the work ethics of the staff members that were working behind this pharmacy counter today.
I truly believe that I was treated differently because I was using Medi-Cal insurance coverage.
