In December 2021, Adrian Guillen of Skyline Security knocked on my mothers door at 3950 Schefflera Dr. N., Fort Myers, FL, part of the Sabal Springs community. Solicitation is strictly prohibited by the HOA so we have no idea how Mr. Guillen obtained access into a Sabal Springs to conduct his illegal marketing campaign. He convinced my elderly, widowed mother who lives alone and is in early stage dementia to switch her home security to Brinks for $42 a month. She was never shown how do use the system, and to this day does not set the alarm. In fact, if the system makes any noises or notifications, it scares her, and she calls me or a neighbor to come turn the system off. We deem Mr Guillen’s sales tactics as predatory and illegal. Even though this contract transferred to brinks home security after one year, it is our assertion that this contract was “void ab initio” and we should be allowed to exit this commitment without further payments or penalties. We demand clarification on how Mr. Guillen gained access to a closed and gated community to go door-to-door, soliciting the home security system. We also demand clarification if there are any age, limits or restrictions, on who skyline security will solicit.
Desired outcome: Cancellation of the Brinks contract or payment of $1,900 to pay for us to end the commitment with Brinks.
