I am writing to inform you that I have had my civil rights violated at the CVS store by
Manager Lupe Pina at 3010 S. Sepulveda Blvd. Los Angeles, CA. At around 12:20 pm on September 15, 2020 I was in the store wearing a face shield with a medical
exemption on my neck that gives me the right to not wear a mask that covers my mouth and nose due to medical conditions. Lupe told me that I had to wear a mask, I told her that I had a medical exemption and I showed her my exemption on my neck. She muttered something abut checking and I said to her
that I had not had any issues in any of the other CVS stores regarding this, after which she told that
she didn't like my attitude. I replied that she had not even asked me why I may be wearing a face shield
instead of a mask. She then became more angry and told me that it was her store and that I could leave
now. I asked her her name and she told me that it was on the outside of the building. She refused to give me her name. I left. I went to my car to retrieve an incident report to confirm once again that she was denying me service in the store. I asked for her to be called to the front of the store. When she saw me she turned around and went back into the backroom. I then asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor Sandra passed me off to a young man who had no name badge. I informed him that I wanted to give the manger information that she was violating my civil rights and she refused to come out and speak to me. Sandra said she was busy. The young man tried to explain his reasons why I should wear a mask. None of which have anything to do with the law or my civil rights. The manager finally returned and I asked her to confirm that she was denying me service and she said that she didn't like my attitude with her or like having the discussion with me in front of customers. I told her that I simply wanted to give her this information. She refused to take it from me and said to put it on the counter. I asked the other employees if they would sign as a witness and she informed them and me that no one would be signing. She walked away. She never offered me to go some place private and have a civilized discussion. This is a disgraceful representation of a manager and of CVS. I will proceed with an attorney over this (of which I have already attained) if I am not contacted by your company and this manager is not notified of the law which is that you cannot discriminate against anyone for medical reasons. She cannot nor can your company impersonate a medical professional. You as a business have to provide fair and equal access to your establishment regardless of my medical condition.
I kindly would like to be contacted regarding this manner and how you intend to handle it.
Thank You.
Dawn Anderson

A medical exemption around your neck? What does that even mean? Sorry, but you're full of [censored]. Doctors say even people with COPD should be able to wear masks without them severely affecting oxygen levels. You're a liar and whatever "medical exemption" you have is fictitious. Go get your lawyer for your stupid frivolous lawsuit.
Hello Dawn!
