I have worked at the Safeway store 2792 (conifer, Colorado) for about 3 years. Yesterday, while at work in the deli just after I arrived, my manager overwhelmed me with t e problems and complaints from the morning before I arrived. Anything I did she was on top of me complaining to the point I would consider badgering me. I have always tried to comply with the store director's requirements (i.e. ensuring the pres lice meets are 3/4 lb, cheese pres lice is 1/2 lb and keeping the pres lice cold case is full while performing the other closing tasks at particular times). The pres lice are I believe what caused the whole problem. When I got to work the early shift had not done anything or at least not much with the pres lice. The deli manager was all over me because the promo side was empty and I had just started. But yesterday was the worst. She had me doing 3 to 4 tasks at the same time, them complaining I did not get them done. She was not doing this to the other closing person or the remaining early shift people (who were supposed to fill the pres lice cold case) and when she weighed my pres lice I had just printed a label for, the scale printed out another label and then she went ballistic on me for having another label she had to do something with. Like I said, I was just overwhelmed by her to the point I walked out, and went home. I had only been there for 45 min and blamed for everything that went wrong in the morning.
I am not asking for my job back, but I would not mind it, but just to explain why I did walk out. Walking out is not my usual way to handle conflict, but was just overwhelmed and did not want to get into an argument, which I do not like to do.
