I am constantly being profiled by the loss prevention officer at the Walgreens store located inside of Union Station in Washington, DC every morning I shop there. He's also a Metro/DC Police officer, I'm assuming by his uniform. Usually as the sole African American male customer, I'm always chosen as the customer he chooses to noticeably shadow/follow in the store, while leaving the other shoppers alone. Next time, I will try to recall his name on his uniform.
Desired outcome: Replacement of the loss prevention officer being complained about with someone else during the morning hours of this Walgreen store

not saying your wrong and he is right. normally loss prevention is given a list of "suspect markers" i think they call it. if he is a metro/dc officer then they also might have a list like that. you might be hitting some markers on said lists by accident. though if your there every day then they should have on record that you are not suspect for anything. did you inquire with the manager of that store as to why they might be watching you?
No, I didn't request to see the manager on site. Also yes, I visit that particular branch almost daily.
Also, regarding the 'suspect markers', I've been intentionally modifying my behavior(s) every time since my first encounter with him, such as, not picking up items i'm interested in to examine them, taking my hat off and opening my coat when entering the store, keeping hands out of my pocket, intentionally walking towards him when he's intentionally shadowing me, etc. I've even went so far a couple times to just politely greet him on a few occasions. I'm guessing the his choice to focus on me during my previous visits their are possibly due in large part to some implicit biases on his part.
those are good points but there are others that are not as obvious. though like i said i'm only trying to give ideas as to the reason. i would HIGHLY suggest talking to the manager and checking with them on this strange behavior.
i showed a co worker, who is a cop, your post and all i got from them was 0.o, though they also said "not enough info to make a definite verdict but that loss prevention metro/dc officer is seeming more suspect to me with current information. id suggest talking to the manager to get a better picture of why he is targeting the guy [OP]"
I understand. Thx for the replies. I originally posted my complaint(s) in the hopes that it would be brought to the attention of Walgreens.
i think here its hit or miss if a company looks here. i once told a company i tested something for about this site and they went "wait so this site exists and its where people have complained about us instead of contacting us? we will investigate this ASAP. thank you for your help with our products and this information. we will take care of the complaints there after we assign someone to monitor that site." some companies might not know the site exists. though with other users who might have valuable information here it kinda covers the gaps till they peek here heh. ether way lets hope they see your complaint and act on it asap to a satisfactory outcome.
