Yesterday 7/29/2020 I went to home depot to purchase a needed lawnmower. I am a 100% disabled Veteran. I took My military id and also My DD214. I have purchased many times before at home depot and got a 10% discount except yesterday. I bought a Cub Cadet mower for over 3000.00 and the 10% discount would have saved Me 310.00. That would have helped Me alot. But they told Me they only give Veterans discounts on 4 holidays a year. I tried to show them My ID cards but they didn't even look at them. They just said no. Had I not needed a mower so bad I would have walked out the door. I know home depot owes Me nothing but since they had always given Me the discount I thought they would this time. So long story short home depot got 310 dollars from Me but I assure You You have made a Lowes customer out of Me. They at least give Me a 10% discount and all I have to do is show them My Lowes card. Even if I buy something online I automatically get the discount. Now in case You are wondering if I am mad at home depot the answer is not particually. I am mad at Myself for not leaving the store and going to Lowes but I won't make that mistake again .

We visited and made a purchase today (7/25/2021 El Paso, TX) . We have a Home Depot Credit, we have made several purchases as well before and have always received our Military discount. Today we were told we didn't qualify. Upon paying we provided my husband's VA ID for our military discount that we have received since we signed up for the Home Depot credit card . Regina immediately advised we did not qualify since my husband is not 100% disabled - how does she know our situation and what my husband's illness or what we are going through, she doesn't . The card is the same as on their laminated sheet that they have available . I advised her that we always get our discount. The cashier continued to state no you don't and if you have it was a mistake. She was very condescending and as I explained previous military discounts on previous purchases she just continued to state aha, aha, aha i get it but i can't. I asked for the Manager on duty and Luis finally came over to speak to us . I explained the issue all over again and advised my husband is a retired military veteran who served and we always get our military discount. He was the same way as the cashier. Same attitude. I asked him why we have received our discounts at this Home Depot and other Home Depots before and he stated well not sure but obviously it was a mistake and you shouldn't have received them. I asked him well can't you honor it and do the right thing? He advised " oh nooo I can't, I will get in trouble", I can't break the rules. Needless to say, I am so upset and disappointed. We still purchased $285.79 worth of merchandise. If it were up to myself I would have left the products there and gone to Lowe's instead where they do honor our Military Discount and care about any Veteran that has served their country. Due to my husband's condition again from when he served I could tell he was already getting stressed out. The sad part is that the cashier and the store manager really didn't care, nor did the two you cashiers that were there, they were smirking the entire time that i was speaking to the Manager. Regina left the scene quickly, like I said she didn't care.
