I made a purchase on 07/23/24 for several bathrooms items to remodel 2 of my bathrooms. I was given a delivery date of 07/25/24. However, nothing was delivered. Then I was given a delivery date of 07/26/24.1 item was delivered. I then called the store and spoke with the manager Melissa who refunded me $200 of the over $4000 I spent in the store, of course I was charged fees from my contractor for having to reschedule the work and get placed back on their service book. Melissa stated everything would be to me no later than 07/29/24. However, again not all my items were delivered, especially the half bathroom sink, mirror and storage unit. I requested to speak to the store manager, I then then spoke to the assistant store manager. A guy named Chris who identified himself as the store manager. Chris swore that everything would be delivered by 07/30/24. Again, not all items were delivered, no sink was delivered. On 07/30/24, I called the store again, and spoke with Chris at 9 am who said to allow him 2 hours to look into the matter. At 1 pm I called the store back again after Chris did not return my call. For the first time was told that William is the actual store manager. I spoke with William, and I provided him both my home number and the telephone number my order was under (apparently, Home Depot doesn't allow the system to update telephone numbers, so I have to continue to use an outdated number). William said to allow him 2 hours. I called back at 5pm and was told William had left by another female manager who stated William had NOT given her any information to pass to me. I had no missed calls from William or voicemail messages, the lady said William is due in the store by 9 am on 07/31/24. On 07/31/24, I tried calling Willaim at 930am and spoke to Chris who had the audacity to be snappy and irritated that I wanted to speak with William. Chris informed me that a guy named Dorthaniel is the district manager, but that Chris was not allowed to contact Dorthaniel to have him call me Chris provided me a telephone number to call that directed me to HomeDepot.com in the Philippines and the guy did not understand or speak English well. I then called Chris back and he said William was not coming in today and there was nothing more he could do. I Then called back into the store and asked about William return to work date I was told to allow another hour. An hour and a half later I called and was told to allow another 30 minutes. I called back a hour later and finally spoke with William. WIlliam stated he tried calling the number on my order which is my old number, oddly enough is that on my order it clearly states my current number as the contact number so again, William was lying. Then, William stated my items were never due to me until 07/31/24. If that was the case why had he, himself or either assistant store manager - Melissa or Chris relayed that prior to today. William continued to try and insinuate that the confusing is all on my part and my doing. I asked 5 times can he get a message to Dorthaniel to call me, which William said repeatedly no, that I need to give them another day do figure out what is going on with my missing items. William then said why don't I get a different sink one that is in stock. I declined as I ordered and paid for the sink I wanted. I then asked William who was the person over Dorthaniel so I could cc them in my letter as well. William said he would absolutely not provide me the name of Dorthaniel supervisor and as a policy they do not give the public that information. That I need to allow them an additional day to figure this all out.
I looked online and was able to find a customer complaint number for Home Depot and spoke to a person named Hector who did not speak or understand English well. I asked if I could send a message to have Dorthaniel the district manager for Home Depot at West Taylor store # 2789. Hector told me not until I give him a detailed account of what my concern was and allow him a chance to resolve the issue. After 5 times of asking to speak either to Hectors supervisor or send a message to Dorthaniel, and Hector stating no. I finally informed Hector that I had recorded the call and will be placing it online along with the recording of the other employees with Home Deport so the public can hear for themselves the horrible disrespectful and unprofessional manner in which Home Depot staff speak and handle customers concerns. That is when Hector changed his tone and transferred me to Lilia, his manager who said she would sent the message to Dorthaniel and provided me a case number to follow up with. I am in tears and what should have been a wonderful moment is ruin by Home Deport and their staff. As of today, I am still waiting on my other sink with a delivery date nowhere in sight.
I would strongly suggest if you have a small project or need something quick in the store by all means Home Depot is a continder, but when it comes to ordering off of their site PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRIVATION AND GO ELSEWHERE.
I was told by Melissa that Home Depot is trying to compete against Amazon by sending all of their big-ticket items to online only. Well, let me assure Amazon has nothing to fear as Home Depot suck and is the absolute worst and store # 2789 and its management team are the pits and huge liars.
Sincerely, Ms. H (big disappointment)
It's incredibly disappointing to spend over $4,000 and deal with constant delays, poor communication, and unfulfilled promises from the staff and management. The repeated runaround from Melissa, Chris, and William is unacceptable, especially when you're trying to coordinate with contractors and manage your remodel.
The back-and-forth calls and being given conflicting information about delivery dates are enough to make anyone's head spin. It's unfortunate that they didn't take your concerns seriously until you mentioned sharing your recordings online. You deserve much better customer service and transparency from a company like Home Depot.
I'm glad you finally got through to someone like Lilia, who was able to give you a case number and escalate the issue, but it shouldn't have taken this much effort. I hope that Dorthaniel or someone higher up can step in and resolve the missing items for you promptly.
Your advice to others about handling small projects in-store rather than ordering online is spot on. It's frustrating that Home Depot's attempt to compete with Amazon is falling so short, especially at store #2789.
