My name is Joyce Tucker and I have worked at Cosmoprof for 16 years as of Nov. 1. I have loved that job since day one. October 9, 2020 I was on a ladder several feet away from my coworker no customers in the store and the district manager Kathy came out and said Joyce you need to put your mask up (which was down by my chin). I told her "Kathy, I'll be honest with you I can't wear this mask all day I have no problem wearing it when customers are in the store but I have to take it off so I can breathe when there's no customers. She informed me it was also for the safety of my coworkers which I totally agree with however I was a social distance away from my coworker and neither of my coworkers are worried about the mask plus we are adults and we do social distance. I told her I couldn't follow that rule because I did have to take it off when I was in the backroom. And since I couldn't follow the rule I said I will just give my notice. Sad thing is nothing was said by her or my manager and it's been three weeks. After 16 years of employment I obviously didn't even matter. No compromise was made like ‘maybe you could switch back-and-forth from your mask to your shield' or ‘if you feel the need to take the mask down, go to the back room in the back and take the mask down', nothing was said, absolutely nothing. I have been a good employee. I've done a very good job all these years selling product and my record speaks for itself. It's very sad how nothing was even said, nobody felt it was important that I stay. Wearing a mask is not a black-and-white issue. There's also a gray matter. You have to be able to take it down at some point other than to go on your break and your lunch. It's hard to wear a mask and breathe while opening up boxes, or standing on a ladder. In fact that could be dangerous. I'm sorry to leave my job under these circumstances and I feel very bad that nobody even bothered to talk to me about it.
