Buyer beware! Like several other reviews listed here, if I could give negative stars, I would. I took my car here on 8/28 to have brakes and rotors installed because they were $100 less expensive than the next closest bid. After 4 days of back and forth being told they were sent the wrong parts 3 different times, I finally received my car back on 9/1. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning. After driving it minimally a couple weeks later, the brakes were screeching and grinding worse than when I first took it in. I took it back to the shop and they said they would make it right. After another 3 days, I picked it up the second time. It sat for several weeks and the next time I drove it, it was doing the same thing. Back to the shop for a third time. This time for only a day, but even before I got a mile from the shop, the noise was so bad I couldn't stand it and went right back to the shop. They told me they would order OEM parts and I could bring it back to have them installed. I took it back, they supposedly installed factory OEM parts and sent me out again, and yes, you guessed it. The same problem. I finally told them I was done and would take it to my normal shop and have them fix it but wanted Mavis to cover the expense or at least refund everything I had paid them. Kevin, the Vernon Hills store manager, told me I should bring the receipt from the other shop if they were able to fix it and they would pay for it. I took the car to my normal shop, and they had it fixed in 1 day. They said the parts that had been installed by Mavis were inferior (my words junk) and were too hard to ever be used on a car's brakes. I have now taken the receipt to Mavis for reimbursement, and you guessed it again, getting the slow run around about anyone's ability to honor the new charge or even be refunded for what I paid them originally. I am now 2.5 months (12 actual out of service days) and approximately $1,300 into what should have been a 1-day job and no more than $800. I have contacted Kevin no less than a dozen times over the last week and he in turn is contacting Jason Walters (his District Manager), but Jason has yet to return a call or provide directions to Kevin on how they are going to resolve this claim. Bottom line, they charged me for a service that they did not provide, and getting a refund on the parts I am willing to return and service that did not fix the original issue has been impossible.
If they do finally reimburse me, I will come back and adjust this review, but for now, I cannot recommend this place for any type of service. You just can't trust what they tell you or the quality of materials they are using.
Claimed loss: $866.91
Desired outcome: Refund as originally agreed to.
