On 12/1, I called the pharmacy to schedule a flu shot for my daughter. My daughter had Covid in September. She quarantined, recovered, received a letter from Mass Covid Response Team that she was no longer contagious and that she may return to work and her normal duties. She was told that she could continue to test positive for up to 90 days, though she is no longer considered contagious. This is just her body shedding the virus. This information was also confirmed by her pediatrician and a RN from the Mass Covid response team.
When I spoke with whomever answered the phone and explained the situation, they immediately became defensive telling me she was contagious and could not come in. When I tried to explain that she was not in fact contagious and that she had recovered over two months ago, she became very abrasive and told me that I was wrong and that she was indeed still contagious.
Now, I understand that maybe she was apprehensive, having covid myself, people tend to treat you differently. However, this woman had her facts completely wrong and was downright rude from the get go.
We get all our scripts filled at CVS, but after this encounter with this woman, I think I will be switching Pharmacy's. I strongly suggest that you educate your staff on how long a person can be contagious for after they have recovered from covid, before they make statements that are completely untrue.
