Home Depot - Delivery

On April 26th, I placed an online order, WM37749668. I chose the Lansing, Michigan store as my home store, 936 S. Waverly, 48917. Included in my order was 2 folding picnic tables. I had to pay $79 extra for the table delivery.
Delivery was set for April 28th from 6 am to 8 pm. There was an additional $20 fee to get a shorter span of time for delivery, but I declined that. I had the 28th off work and I waited the entire day, cancelling my evening plans because the tables hadn't come yet. The deliverer was supposed to call 30 minutes before delivery. After 730 pm had come and gone, I called the [protected] to inquire about my delivery. She put me on hold and called the store to check the status.
She informs me that the sire realized on the evening of the 27th that they did not have the product in store and were unable to secure them at nearby stores. So they did nothing. For the life of me, I cannot understand why they made no effort to contact me and let me know that there would be no need to sit home and wait 14 hours on a beautiful day for the delivery because they did not have the product. Who does that to a customer?
To add insult to injury, I was finally contacted by the store at 807 pm on the 28th to verify that I wanted to cancel my order! I never indicated that to anyone. I made it clear to her that I had no desire to cancel. I wanted the tables, I told her, or at the very least I wanted them to have contacted me when they realized that there would be no delivery. This lack of communication and total disregard for the value of my time was highly unprofessional and unacceptable. The after the fact call to verify my cancellation rather than calling to apologize or explain made it worse.
