I needed a $402 money order and decided to research CVS to see if they sell M.O.'s. I read what was required; cash or debit card was required. To be safe, I called the closest store to my residence and verified what was on the website. I then took a $10 cab ride to CVS and entered the store and asked to purchase a money order. She asked for identification; and then told me only cash was permitted and that I could use the ATM machine in the store.
1. Since when it is necessary to ask for I.D. to make a purchase?
2. At no time during my earlier call to CVS regarding the purchase of money orders was I told that I needed I.D. and that no purchase was allowed unless cash was used to purchase the M.O. That being the case, this rule should be stipulated on the site as a requirement.
3. I would incur ATM fees to make a withdrawal and then have to pay again for the money order.
4. What a waste of time, effort and money; I left the store... without a money order.
If identification is necessary to make a purchase, then list it on your site. If only cash is prohibited to purchase money orders, then list that on your site as well.
Desired outcome: Change your store rules; do not ask for identification to make a purchase, I was not using a check or credit card. Change your site, and be explicit was is required to purchase money orders.
