I’m reaching out to you in reference to discrimination, retaliation, and safety violations at Variety Wholesale located on 1000 Facet Rd Henderson NC 27537. I’m employed at this facility and have witnessed with my own eyes, discrimination. Black African Americans are treated differently from Hispanics. Although supervisor is Hispanic I do believe EVERYONE should be treated equally and fair. I have witnessed Hispanics not cleaning, while African Americans workers have to clean, I have witnessed Hispanics not being sent to other departments to help, verses black African Americans are always sent, I have witnessed Hispanics allowed to be on their cellphone’s, versus black African Americans Hispanic supervisor will say something to black African Americans about being on cellphones. I have witnessed when splitting up work (Hispanic coordinator) take all Hispanic and give (black African Americans) coordinator all black African Americans papers. I have witnessed Hispanic supervisor discipline black African Americans for attendance but Hispanics can do no call no show. I have witnessed black African Americans clocking out at lunch verse Hispanics not clocking out but taking paid lunch breaks. I have witnessed his Hispanics having the privilege to leave at 2:30pm verses African Americans staying until 3:30pm cleaning before leaving. I have witnessed African Americans being moved to different departments to help out verses Hispanics never been moved. I have witnessed many safety violations, pallets fallen out racks, fallen on employee cracking her glass, I have witnessed employee falling in hole that’s in the floor, product fallen out of racks, lift driver’s not staging pallets properly. Lift drivers with expired license. Everything I witnessed I have also brought it to Supervisor’s attention and feels that I am now being retaliated against. I have witnessed poor management as well as Hr using profanity in front of employees, but in leadership. It starts with upper management as well as leadership. And variety wholesale wonders why turnover rates are extremely high, because you all don’t know how to treat and value their employees. Everyone should be treated EQUALLY, regardless of your race color religion. After bringing these allegations to supervisor’s attention I will not/shall not be discriminated against and I feel that it’s happening due to the fact I have spoken on it point it out right then as I’m seeing it, and not to mention being harassed by another employee and absolutely nothing was done about it and was informed by many many other employees this is what this employee does to almost everyone including her aunt that’s employed there and nothing is done but given a leadership position, when she can’t/don’t work well with other’s. But this is acceptable at Variety wholesale, not to mention after reporting all this complaining about being harassed to supervisors, my vehicle gets keyed while at work and nothing was done about it and yes I did contact law enforcement and informed them of everything that was going on.
