On 01/15/2020 at around 7:30 pm my fiance walked into the speedway store at the above address ( this is the store we frequently visit on a daily basis). The employees working at the time were a younger white thin male and a Hispanic shorter middle age women. He first approached the women and asked to purchase Marlboro Red cigarettes and realized he had forgotten his id. He returned to the car to get his state government issued paper temp ID along with his expired/voided old state government ID. This time he walked up to the younger white male again asked to purchase a pack of cigarettes and when presented with the proofs of identification/AGE the male denied him the sale saying they do not accept the paper IDs. My fiance then asked for a manager and the Hispanic women rudely replies "I am the manager and we dont accept those". At this point we have been through this with the casino host of Santa Ana and manager of a bank. It is NM law that when presented along with the old voided NM ID the government state issued temporary paper IDs are valid and considered acceptable identifications when presented together as long as the paper ID has not expired. At this point my fiance asked to speak to the manager to which the women replied she was the manager. My fiance then asked to speak with her manager and asked for districts number. The women disrespectfully replied "its on 4th street somewhere" and when he asked "can I have their number please" with a very rude unprotected tone of defensiveness and down right disrespect replied " I dont know it, it's on 4th street YOU FIGURE IT OUT." This is very unacceptable as well as unprofessional way of handling the situation. I would hope that Speedway as a corporation would not see this as the proper way of conducting themselves as managers and with holding that title the stores overall reputation reflects their attitude, behavior, and handling of customer service and this type of behavior in front of other customers in the store and co-workers has us rethinking our patronage. I am willing and happy to provide the State/Fed Laws and statues in regards to the acceptance of a paper ID if presented with the old ID. I put oin good faith that this type of misinformation and unnecessary attitude coming from your employees is something that wil be further looked into and a correction can be made. Please feel free to contact me for any further information in regards to this situation. Please understand my fiance handles any confrontation with the upmost respect and courtesy. Thank you. I do want to give recognition to one employee at this location though. She works in the mornings and is the highlight to my mornings. She is ALWAYS upbeat giving uplifting comments. She is just a happy positive person. She is always giving me a hard time (jokingly) about forgetting my Speedway rewards card and is the biggest promoter of Speedway Rewards Points. Speedway should really reward employees like this. Honestly she is what might keep me attending this location, but only during her shift. She is a middle age African-American women you will often find her dancing, singing, and welcoming you into the store every morning. You'll leave ready and happy to face the day after being helped by this employee.
