Hello, this is my second email to you. My first was 5 days ago and no one has responded to me. Once again, I'd like to speak with someone in management/administration regarding the conduct of a Mavis employee. I had my car inspected at Mavis in PA, passed my inspection and received my sticker, but was told that I would have to purchase 1 new fog light lens and 2 tires in order to pass the inspection. My passenger side fog light lens has a slight crack but the light works and has no moisture or water in it. I agreed, and paid for the 2 items and the work but then was told that the items were not in stock had to be ordered and I would have to make an appointment to return for the installation. That appointment to install the tire and fog light lens was scheduled for 3 weeks out. The following day I had another mechanic not affiliated with Mavis inspect my car and he informed me that all my tires thread are in fair condition and the fog lens is not broken but only a small hairline crack. I am disputing the charges for the lens and tire I paid for from Mavis, the installation and labor which were not started nor completed ($387.47). I am only paying for the inspection that I clearly passed ($28.62). I do not want the other services that I have paid for but have not yet received, because I was advised by a certified mechanic that they are not needed at this point. I called the store that did my inspection on 9/27/23 to discuss this matter and was told to bring in my car so that they can remove the sticker before they reimburse me any money. I am requesting that someone please contact me to discuss the false information given to me by your employee in order to make a sale.
Desired outcome: I am requesting that someone please contact me to discuss the conduct and false information given to me by your employee in order to make a sale, and a full refund of my $387.47 for the items ordered, and labor.
Mavis Discount Tire - Paid for services in full, work was not done
December 29, 2020.
My kid was driving to work and a chemical smell started pouring through the vents making her physically ill like as if she had carbon monoxide poisoning. We dropped it at the East stroudsburg Milford rd location to be looked at. We got a call hours later to inform us the back brakes were "non existent as if they fell off" and engine seal melted to the engine likely causing the fumes (2 wks prior it was checked for minimal smell and grinding at courtland st mavis he still to this day manager claims nothing was wrong with back brakes he replaced fronts & struts & few other things month earlier) but brakes were squealing here and there so we said ok fix whole thing they quoted $727 total for all ALL the above oil & air filter and they had to order parts from dealer so might be few days. We were surprised to receive a call stating the work was done late afternoon since nearest dealer is over hour away to get said needed parts. So we said we would come down by closing and tech who made call said they were closing early and he needed to pay over the phone or come the next day. So we paid over the phone. We get there the place is still open keys and receipt in the car. Luckily there was an odd light on so I pulled over let my husband look up what the light was and while he was doing that I read the receipt. It was at that time I see the engine seal replacement is not on the receipt... so we discuss it and go inside to ask why this engine seal is not on the receipt. There 3 techs in there they proceed to tell me they didn't fix the engine seal, so I said ok so we have to bring it back? But I need it on the receipt since we paid for it. They said no I paid for work done today only the engine seal should be left alone not repaired. I then informed them that in the call the quote was $727 for back brakes rotors, oil, air filter, and engine seal replacement. They said after that call they called us back to inform us it shouldn't be fixed and the quote was just for brakes, that call never happened I have phone records to prove it. So after a bunch of arguing back and forth I left expecting call from district manager which I never received. At this point I paid $727 for 2 back breaks and air filter ridiculous. So car sat for 3 wks while I played file a report with corporate customer service. Then one day after call 4 David the district manager calls me and comes to the conclusion he needs to pull the audio tapes from the calls from mavis to my phone and then he will contact me back with a resolution. A week goes by nothing I call 5 th time told I'm gonna wait again for David. Meanwhile we need the car college is starting so 1 st day out driving car up and dies all lights come on smell comes back waiting on a tow. NEXT day Mavis Milford rd calls to say my parts are in do you want to make an appointment I proceed to tell them that car is an hour away broken down and it will have to be fixed out there and David never called me with a resolution so he need to call me back because obviously this engine seal that didn't need to be fixed NEEDED to be fixed he said ok. 3 wks go by 6 th&7 th call no reply. So we dropped the car at the dealership, where they respond with a video recording of their findings... the engine seal is intact no issue, so I paid for an engine seal that was never melted to the engine or a problem in any way and Mavis ordered me an engine seal to fix for free, but not really free cause I PAID for it in the original bill, but it never needed to be fixed in the first place! And they discovered the actual problem was a pipe of some kind obviously loose and touching the engine that was melting the casing causing the fumes that made the kid sick Toxic Fumes FYI and not only that they found an oil leak coming from the oil filter cap because they wedged the wrong filter type in the car almost no oil in it which is why engine seized. To be continued I got tapes video & more 3/1/21 unresolved
So dealer found mavis misdiagnosed the car sent me video proof which I have as well as recordings of the conversations with mavis customer service... So obviously when David the District Manager pulled the tapes from the Milford rd location he found exactly what we said they never made that 2nd phone call and they said $727 was for all the work including the engine seal they said they were fixing and didn't. But Dave never called like the customer service people said he would to now refund me for the work they charged me for but never did. So I contacted them again and the rep was obviously going back and forth between him and my call and said the resolution was he would fix the engine seal free. I explained to him again for now the 3rd time why the engine seal didn't need to be fixed how I spoke to the other mavis in town and he told me no way in 2 wks those brakes could have went from 50% to non existent I should get a $727 refund because edie all I know they didn't fix the brakes at all... Still hear squeaking... But I just want the money we paid for the installation of the engine seal and the part. They said he would call next day 2/27/21 no call. So today I call talk to another customer service rep she reads notes for last call and said I see you were transferred from rep to David's phone... uhhh what no definitely was not, so she said that's what's here and it says David refuses refund he will fix part for free. I then had to explain for what feels like millionth time why engine seal doesn't need to be repaired that there was never anything wrong with it again and I will gladly provide her with the tapes of all the calls to cooperate, with Milford rd location and the dealership shop mechanics video finding and paperwork. She said ok I'm going to relay this to David and have him call you back today. I said no I want to talk to David's superior and she said he has no supervisor. So engine damage for oil filter issue was much worse than originally thought since it did drive a significant length with no oil! We had to drive it for 300 miles to assess if there was long term damage it's at the dealer now they will be writing up the new paperwork.
Now update 3/3/21 I have contacted them 3 more times Dave who BBB told me to call was in meetings unavailable and would call me back all 3 times and did not.
Desired outcome: Refund
