I purchased 4 rebate eligible tires on 9/15/23 from the Melvin's Tire location in Smithfield RI location. I dealt with a gentleman by the name of Steve. At time of payment I asked Steve about information to be used to submit the rebate request (website, etc). Zero written documentation was provided to me, other than to go online to Goodyear to submit the request.
I then went on the Goodyear site to try to submit the request under the "Goodyear" option rather than "Cooper" option since I purchased Goodyear tires. I completed the form entirely and submitted it and received a response that they were not eligible. I did this multiple times, thinking that I had provided incomplete or inaccurate information, which I did not. I then communicated online with Goodyear and they responded that I needed a six digit code that began with "9"... for which there is no field in the "Goodyear" option but there is for "Cooper"... but again these were not Cooper tires. They informed me that I needed to contact the Melvin's location.
I contacted Steve at Melvin's and he said he did not know of such a code but that he said he would text the District Manager to inquire and asked me to call him back on 9/18 after noon when he was working. I called him back then and he said he'd call me back after he checked and here we are 2 days later and no return call. I called back just prior to submitting this and spoke to another gentleman (Steve apparently left for the day). I gave the background to this gentleman and he was immediately able to assist me with the specific website address and the code, I asked him why this information wasn't provided at the time of purchase. He said they do have the ability to print it on location. I suggested that when the company knows they are selling rebate eligible tires that they, as the seller of the tires, should take the initiative to print it out and attach it to the invoice. The customer should not have to spend the considerable amount of time that I did to submit the information. Once I had the proper information it literally took me 5 minutes to submit the rebate request.
The rebate on a purchase of $660 was $50. Frankly this does not compensate me for the considerable time I spent going back and forth with Goodyear as well as the local Melvin's location and would ask you to consider compensation to help resolve this situation.
Thank you

Desired outcome: Correction of process at the local retail location and additional compensation for the considerable time and effort I expended trying to submit the rebate
