If you like to waste time and money…this is the place to go. They should be rename the Summerville location of Mavis Discount Tire to "Crooks Are Us". I went during my lunch break on a Tuesday and spent an hour inquiring about the Flex Spending credit line, Like most people right now, money is tight, especially with three kids and Christmas right around the corner. To my relief, I was approved right away and put a work order in for four new tires and an alignment on my husband's truck. I verified three times during my conversation with Christina that they would be able to perform the above services on the truck given the size. Being that we ordered 37"tires, explained it was for a F350 Super Duty Diesel with an 11" lift! Christina, along with the store manager, Tracy standing right there, assured me it would be no problem. I even asked a final time, saying that another shop had said they couldn't get the truck on the lift given it's height. Once again I was assured they would have no such problem. Here's where the fun kicks in guys….
I met my husband after work on Thursday at Mavis around 5:45 PM for our appointment. We sat in the parking lot waiting, watching as other vehicles are being worked on. After an hour, one of the guys pulls our truck around the back. Quickly we noticed he couldn't figure out how to get the locking hub caps off. My husband walks around to assist to only walk up behind this smart mouth making rude comments about the height of the truck. He said, "Who the hell needs a truck this big? I think it's big enough!" My husband just smiled and replied, "Yeah, it's big: to the knucklehead who didn't now he was behind him. After this, the guys realized that the truck was too big to put on the lift and had to use hand jacks to remove the tires, After some time, we we were called into the bay where there was a few guys struggling to get the tire completely off the rim with the machine. They continued to do this for about 15 minutes while never letting on that they may have taken on a job too big for them to handle. While standing outside the shop, in sight of the crew, one of the guys says,"I'm not doing them. It's above my pay grade."Excuse me buddy, you work at a tire shop doing the basic tire and oil changes. What exactly is your pay grade? You would have thought he was asked to do brain surgery. At this point it's almost 8:00 pm and I still have an hour to drive home. Another guy walks over to my husband to say they don't know what to do, they can't get the tires off. Can you say annoyed? I told him that I was assured this would not be a problem. I went on to say we live an hour away.. what am I supposed to do? This guy stares blankly at me and after a few moments he suggests that we leave the truck overnight there and come get the new tires in the A.M. and have someone else do them. So, imagine this, my husband had to leave his truck, find a ride the next day from an hour away, go back to Mavis and pick up the new tires and the old ones still on the rim, drive to another shop to do the tires, drive back to another the shop to have them put on the rims, then drive back to the shop to get the tires put on his truck. You would have thought they would have offered an apology for promising they could do the job they assured me of, try to offer suggestions, or any kind of assistance at all. Wake up knuckle heads! It's called customer service. So done with the situation, I went into the office where Tracy, the manager, and Christina were to finalize and submit the updated work order. We had to take off the labor and alignment from the bill as the work couldn't be done. Even at this point the manager is trying to tell me they can do the alignment after all. I had him go to his shop and take measurements to prove the truck wouldn't fit on the machine. We were charged for the work to be just for the price of the tires and I was directed to go to the Flex Shopper app to approve and electronically sign it. On the way home, I approved the contract and got an email confirmation and a call from the Flex Shopper - everything was set. My husband borrowed my daughter's truck and was at Mavis the next morning at 7:30 AM. Tracy, the manager, had his guys load up the new tires into my daughter's truck. My husband walked by the back of his truck to help load the tires, he notices there were no doors on the back of the shop. A little concerned, he walks to his truck to find his keys in the ignition, still from the night before. You hear that? If you leave your vehicle overnight at this location, don't expect it's safely locked in a shop. Anyone off the street can walk right into the shop and your keys may be in the ignition. My husband had to call out of work to start his busy day running around because Mavis and especially the ignorant manager, Tracy, bit off more than they could chew. My husband finds a shop in North Charleston to take off the old tires just fine, no issues. Here's the kicker…because Mavis' employees' lack of knowledge, they took chunks out of the rims trying to remove the tire. The specialty shop couldn't slide the new tires on the damaged rims without fear of messing up the new tires. Fantastic, right? These rims were top model after market rims that have since been discontinued. So with no option, we had to buy all 4 cheap rims to even put the new tires on. Thanks guys! So much with trying to finance the services so I didn't have to come out of pocket all at once. So, now it's noon and I took off work early to help get everything in order to come up with additional funds that I didn't have. At this time I get a crazy call from Christina from Mavis saying that Flex finance denied the work order and wouldn't finance the new tires that my husband picked up hours before. She went on to ask me,"How do you want to take care of this?". I'm thinking, this lady is crazy if she thinks I am buying them out of pocket. I told her that it was her problem as I had a signed agreement with the creditor saying it was approved. Christina then suggests I agree to allowing her to fraudulently charge against my credit line by saying that they did the alignment and put on the tires. She says then the work order would be approved and in exchange Mavis would give us a free oil change. I told her my husband would never allow them to touch our vehicles again and I wouldn't agree to it. She went on to suggest Mavis could do a free alignment on my daughter's truck instead. Again I replied with a hard NO. They were not touching any of my vehicles ever again and that I was calling my husband. I drove home and called Corporate immediately. I advised them of what had happened and insisted something be done. I was told the General Area Manager would call me before the end of the day. A little over an hour later, the phone calls started coming in, back to back, only a minute apart. The manager, Tracy, blows up my phone and started leaving threatening voicemails. This crook goes on my voicemail saying we TOOK tires without payment and I needed to handle it or the situation would go another way. Excuse me, Mr. Tracy, go another way? Corporate, do you hear this? Mr. Tracy now wants to act like a hard thug and bully me into a fraudulent transaction. No sir, wrong female - I don't play silly games. I called my husband to advise him of what Mr. Tracy had said on my voicemail and sent him an audio of it. This was a big, bad mistake, Mr. Tracy. My husband listens to the voicemail at the specialty shop and the owner who is now handling the tire repair gets to hear the craziness. So now my husband calls Tracy back to ask about the voicemail. On speaker, my husband asks what the problem was. Traacy goes on to say that Flex-Tires rejected paying for only the tires we bought and that my husband needed to come back to pay the $1, 100 bill before the end of the day. My husband advises him that I was wanting to hear from the Corporate Office first and that we had a contract/email from Flex-Tires that everything was approved. Tracy tells him that he can wait for Corporate but he better be there before the shop closes or else. Well, big boy, again, your threats fall on deaf ears. Mr. Tracy also mentions Corporate told him about our complaint and he lied. Man, I'm starting to think the General Manager is okay with the bullying and intimidation tactics this manager feels so free and entitled to use. Thanks General Manager Justin for not calling me, the customer. Good to know the company will ignore a customer complaint and even share the events to shop employees to give them the encouragement to harass and threaten the customer. An hour later, I get a call from Flex-Tires asking if I approved Mavis to change my account for more services today. Uh, what? NO! l The rep advises me that Mavis tried to modify my order saying that they did work today that they didn't do! I advised the rep to flag it, it's fraud and I didn't have any work done. This crook tried to add additional services to my account that they did not do! No, Mr. Tracy, you have gone too far and I'm concerned about your mental status. This manager insinuated we stole the tires without paying for them, giving him the right to harass and threaten me. When I was on the phone with Flex-Tires, they further proved that Mr. Tracy wasn't being honest. They confirmed they never denied my order for the tires and that everything was approved. Hence, the email with the confirmation and outlined payment plan that I received the night before. Something is definitely wrong with this location.
I'm posting this review and I am going to give Corporate until mid week to get back to me before I go to BBB and release the voicemails from the thugs they employ. This is unacceptable. I am out hundred of dollars, lost a day of work and had to deal with this location's screwup. I would request Corporate make this right and be sure future customers never have to deal with this foolishness.
