I use the Public Storage in Denton, Texas. I moved in May of this year but had lost the key to my lock and unable to get my belongings when I stopped by Public Storage. I was moving that same day and did not have time to wait for a locksmith to show up. After I moved, I spoke to someone on the phone and was told that I could complete a form to authorize the lock to be cut off and replaced by Public Storage lock until I could come back and pick up my property. I requested the forms be emailed to me and was told that could not be done which I do not understand because it is a simple task to do. Instead, I was told that I needed to go to a Public Storage in Buda, Texas nearest to where I now live and complete the second form.
I drove to Buda, as requested and filled out the required form to have my lock cut off and then replaced by a lock provided by Public Storage. Several days later I received a voicemail from the Public Storage in Denton telling me that I needed to go back to the Buda location and complete another form before the lock switch could be made.
This frustrated me because I had already made one trip and it was not my fault that the employee at the Buda location did not give me both forms to sign when I was there the first time. In the message that I received from Public Storage, I was told I needed to go back…no hey, we are sorry for the inconvenience do you mind going back to fill out the second form.
Furthermore, I was miffed that from the beginning those forms (I was told) could not be emailed to me to be filled out and emailed back. I simply don’t understand that. It is a simple task to do but no, I had to travel to another store in person. To date, I have not driven back to the store in Buda.
Additionally, my rental fee was paid through August 14th and a couple of days after August 1st, I received several texts and emails that I was being charged a late fee.
That said, I am frustrated with the poor customer service and what I perceive as a lack of effort.
I have since received an email, titled "NOTICE OF CLAIM" because I have not paid nor have, I gotten my property.
I now live 4 hours from Denton. I am done cooperating and no longer want my personal property. You can do whatever you want with it. I have read the notice of claim and understand, and I am fine with whatever legal action your company decides to take against me.
Regards,
Waylan Rhodes
Desired outcome: Public Storage employees to be more customer service friendly and work with their customers. Consider uploading forms so they can be emailed to people who no longer live nearby or can't come in person to fill out the necessary forms.
