Work Order #[protected] Iron Eagle Utility Trailer
We stopped at a store in Aberdeen, Washington when we noticed a bearings was bad on one wheel of our trailer. We were relieved to find a Les Schwab only a couple blocks away. An employee talked to us and agreed the trailer bearing was bad and should not be on the road. He said he didn't have time to look at today but he would look at it on Monday morning. We live in Vancouver, Washington so we were approximately 150 miles from home. We then left our trailer on the Les Schwab Tire lot & headed home.
On Monday noon we called Daryl & he told us the axle was bad and was calling to get a quote from Dexter, their axle supplier. He called back and said the axle would cost approximately $900+ which covered the axle and springs and then labor would be added. We drove to Iron Eagle, the manufacturer company that built our trailer, and they quoted us $220 for the axle and we could buy at their Portland office. We called Daryl and he says Les Schwab only guarantees Dexter axles from their supplier in Seattle or Tacoma so we could not bring him one from the original manufacturer. We then found a new Dexter axle on E-trailer.com and they quoted $230 with free shipping & it included the springs which didn't come with the axle that Les Schwab was quoting us. Daryl said they wouldn't install it as they couldn't warranty it from another supplier. I explained we needed a couple of days to make our decision & he told us we had to get the trailer off their lot right away. Since we could not tow the trailer, we were over a barrel with no option other than to tell Daryl to go ahead and order his new axle. Daryl then called back and said he ordered the axle with the spring so now the axle cost approximately $450. He was unwilling to provide the model number of the axle that he installed. We are attaching a copy of the bill so you can see why we are so dissatisfied with our experience. Les Schwab has always held an excellent name for customer excellence but we feel now the Company is only interested in making 100% more profit on the part needed in addition to labor, which is expected cost. We feel a refund of $200 is in order which is the amount that we overpaid Les Schwab Co. Thanks for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.
