AllianceOne Receivables Management - Sloppy record keeping and unethical collection practices

In 2004 I received a speeding ticket by the Yelm Police. The ticket was sent to Alliance One a/k/a Allied Credit location 6565 Kimball Drive STE 200, Gig Harbor WA 98335 I was never notified that this account was transferred to Alliance One for collections, nor was I notified by Alliance One that they had received this account. I never received any collection notice or any bill. One day I'm standing at the gas pump attempting to put some fuel into my gas tank with my bankcard, and I was informed by the machine at the gas station that my account had been garnished and I had zero monies in it. I further discovered that AllianceOne Garnished my mother's bank account (she was on SSDI and I was a co-signer on her account so I could take care of her bills). Again, I had NEVER received any notification of this in any way prior to this happening. Following this, my husband and I filed bankruptcy - case number 04-43365-pbs, and for safety measure, claimed Allied Credit - 6565 Kimball Dr Ste 200, Gig Harbor, WA 98335 - to ensure all debt was taken care of and stop them from their criminal collection practices. Now here I am, 10-years later, pulling my drivers abstract only to find the ticket I had both paid and filed bankruptcy on is still on my record. I contacted the Yelm Court and they advised me to contact Alliance One. I recall going thru this 6-years or so ago, only to be harassed by Alliance One. To date, I am terrified of their Hitler style harassment and unethical treatment of the public, however I do need help with this issue. AllianceOne Receivables Management - fraud and cheating

The fact that King County & the City of Seattle continues to contract with a business as sleazy and unethical as Alliance One, despite that fact that MANY people have complained to the state attorney general, is nothing short of astounding. I would also include 'unorganized' as a descriptive word for Alliance One, but that would imply that their horrible record keeping and payment reporting is a mistake, rather than the intentional rip-off that it most likely is.

Because Seattle & King County assign unpaid traffic and parking tickets to Alliance One, people who need to renew their vehicle tabs or drivers licenses are told which tickets still show as 'unpaid' according to Alliance One, and that they will need to clear those up and provide proof of payment or 'adjudication' before they can renew their license or tabs. The problem is this... Alliance One simply does NOT record or report those payments! I have had several tickets that I paid, got the adjudication for, and then had DMV subsequently tell me (sometimes 10 - 18 months later) that those same tickets are still 'unpaid' according to Alliance One. It seems that this is an obvious effort to get some people who don't keep their payment records or receipts for that long, or who may have lost track of them after such a long period of time, to pay for the same tickets more than once.

That being said, I can tell you first hand that this is a maddening process, and actually forced me to include several tickets (that I must pay back 100% of) in a bankruptcy that Alliance One is now being paid TWICE for hundreds of dollars that I have already paid!

Since Alliance One does not need to attract or retain consumers as customers, they literally operate as if they are above the law, which in reality they are, being in bed with government entities that continue to feed them millions of dollars worth of business without requiring them to maintain any standard of ethics or good business practices.

Shame on the City of Seattle and King County for partnering with Alliance One in financially bludgeoning their own tax paying citizens in a combined effort that amounts to nothing short of organized crime.

I am going through hell right now because of this Alliance. Not only did they garnish my wages without so much as a phone call I didn't find out about it until I went to work and checked my company email and found a letter from Payroll informing me my wages had been garnished. I belong to a Union and the contract with my company does not allow for wage garnishing. They dismiss the employee. Will someone who knows how initiate a Lawsuit that all of us can as a group file against this company? Just show me where to sign. This dirty low down company needs to be knocked off their pedastal.

THE best thing to do is file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) and with your State Attorney Generals Office (www.naag.org). Consumers have rights afforded to them by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, better known as the FDCPA. Collector don't want consumers to know this! Stand up against abusive debt collectors and exercise your rights!

We all need to submit a complaint against them with the FTC so they will be investigated. I don't trust the WA state AG's office

These 'debt collectors' (and I use the term loosely) are scam artists. Not only that, but they are IGNORANT. I had cancer a few years back and was unable to pay all of my bills. I declared bankruptcy, and was informed to not make any payments on my accounts until the bky was discharged. So, upon the FIRST contact with Alliance One after my bky, they indicated that they were going to start garnishing my wages. They never delivered paperwork to me indicating such, and in fact, when I called them up, I was told that 'Well THIS is your notification' by Mr. Eagan. Mr. Eegan was rude, and essentially said the SAME thing to me... 'Well, i guess this should teach you your lesson huh?'

Well, since he was very threatening to me, I began making payments EVERY SINGLE week. Sometimes $200, sometimes $100 and at the very LEAST I gave them $40 a week to show that I was committed to making payments. I made payments for well over 2 months before I FINALLY got paperwork to garnish my wages, which indicates to me that they set me up to be garnished DURING the time I was still making payments. I agree that most of the people that work there haven't been there a long time (I heard that they have a huge turnover, pay bad, and are unethical) but the ones who have, stand behind the malicious, rude, and unethical practices of this company. I fully intend to file a complaint with the better business bureau and encourage anyone else with problems with them to do so as well. As far as 'Mr. Eagan' - I believe his name was Jim or John...I hope he goes to sleep at night feeling good about being such an evil person and knowing how many people hate him.

I want ot pay using my mother's credit card...my name is on the card, as well. We have different addresses so even though the card technically is in my name, the addresses don't match. My mother gave my the numbers and I could turn around and spend thousands on E-bay or Amazon without so much as a stutter...but, to pay my tickets...omfg...they need everything BUT a stool sample. All parking tickets. Have to pay them to get the Tabs I have already paid for. I am not driving, and I get a ticket on my parked car for NO TABS...another $47.00. I have NEVER gotten a ticket for no tabs like that. WTF is wrong with Seattle Parking Enforcement?

Alliance One calls my home daily on a debt for someone that just happens to have the same surname as ours. It is the most common Chinese surname around. We have asked they to stop, we have filed complaints with the DNC and still they harass us. What a sleazy operation.

I am a month behind on a ticket payment ... without a phone call or a letter, they garnished my account for more than a month's worth of a ticket payment. I had moved, all they had to do was call or email. They did neither. If there is a petition out there, I want to sign it. This is bad business and Whatcom County shouldn't be doing business with them either.

Rick W. I hope you check this website before you pay Alliance One. I do not recommend paying any other way then in person. Get a receipt in hand and ask every question! I have been trying to get my tickets paid off and every time I call their "customer service" line, the representative tells me I owe a different amount. I have gone in person to pay this debt every month and I get a print out every time I do. The last time I called in (today) I was told that I owed $1, 354, but the receipt I received from my last payment in person, says $700. Keep every receipt and do everything you can to keep them honest!

Thanks for the heads up folks. I just got done calling Alliance this morning and was going to pay by debit card tommorrow after I deposit a check into my bank account today. Now that I'm aware of this info, I think I'll send a money order to them by certified mail snail mail(return receipt)or take some other steps to make sure my bases get covered. Everything sounded kind of fishy to me when I talked with them on the phone and I'm glad my gut told me to run this check on them first.

I just found out that I owe like $5000- worth of traffic fines that I have already paid as well and that Alliance obviously kept no records of. Its been a few years now and I don't know if I still have any of those receipts or the adjudication paperwork left. So what now? Anyone have any suggestions for me? I should not have to pay for this twice, plus with all the extras they have now tacked on, I don't know what to do? HELP...

AllianceOne Receivables Management - rip off

This company is a bunch of low life ### debt collectors. They threaten people and harass them. I paid a 25.00 debt to the court 8 years ago and all of a sudden get a letter from these low lives. The girl on the phone was exceptionally rude and would not listen to me. She was like oh well prove it or otherwise you owe it. I was like oh yeah I am going to prove something from 8 years ago you wench. She was cocky so I let her know who is the boss. I don't take crap from no debt collector. Especially cocky ones.

So I proceeded to call there corporate office and the girl there had no clue what to do. By the way there corporate number is [protected] if anybody wants to call them and complain to them about the way you are treated by their debt collectors. The president of the company is Andrew Case who claims he is not but other people will tell you he is. I recommend everyone calling him too. His number is [protected]. I was told by him to call Roy Bucchold at [protected]. Roy then passed the buck and told me to call John Boquist who is an incompetent piece of crap. His number is [protected].

Lets all call these higher up people and let them know what we think of how their debt collectors treat us. I am having to deal with this low life company over a debt I already paid. I called the court house and they told me themselves I already paid the debt and the case was closed. Alliance one needs to learn not to screw with people.

So I encourage thousands of people to flood there corporate office and these low life supervisors I named with calls. They love to call us so why don't we call them. And to people who are worried about collection agencies. Don't worry. They are nothing but low lives who have nothing better to do then aggravate and harass people. I don't take their crap. I tell them to screw off and tell them exactly what I think of them.

They are the lowest form of life on the planet. There is no such thing as debtors prisons. The worst they can do is ruin your credit. Today it is unbelievable how one item can ruin things for your credit. So I say why bother caring about it. Play their game and don't pay them.

I'm sorry, some collection reps are rude, and some are not. I am a collector at allianceone, I look forward to helping people resolve their debt. If the refuse to pay or they say its not I politely let them go. Also just making phone call is not harassment I call with good intent and purpose. If you cannot pay or bill or refuse to, I just move on.I
do find it rewarding having someone down on their luck, being able to show them how to resolve there debts and save t tons of money. I find people are grateful taking a 20k bill and taking pennies on the dollar. These collection reps are still people, with families and mouths to feed. Have a conversation with them, you may find they are actually there to help.

For those that are being harassed for "debts" over 6 years old...check the laws of the state and see what the statute of limitations are to collect these debts. If they are past that time, tell them to get educated and they are not getting crap. When they tell you that they will report it to your credit reporting agency, tell them fine-then deal with the reporting agency. Inform them that it is past the # of years and it needs to come off your report. I understand when a debt is owed, but they constantly add outrageous fees over and over to keep you owing. That is part of why this country is in so much debt, because the government allows these underhanded sucker-fish to do this illegal collecting.

this company is the most crooked I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They will hold on to an account for a dollar for years so it can accrue an astronomical amount of "fees" and never send you any correspondences. Unfortunately in may cases they thrive on the people that do not know their rights under the statute of limitations and humiliates them. Imagine these people lecturing about "moral obligations"!

I got pulled over a month ago only to find out that the ticket I paid for supposedly wasn't. And now come to find out that I have been driving on a suspended license for who knows how long! AllianceOne never sent me out an email, a letter, a certified letter, given me a courtesy call, nothing to tell me that they were going to have my license suspended for a ticket I already paid, in 2008. It's a little ridiculous that I have to pay $500 for a ticket that was originally $75 dollars, which I paid off in full, in 2008. And first off, that's not a loan, this is a ripoff. AllianceOne has caused me a world of hell because of this. Visiting family in LA and getting pulled over by LAPD and being asked to step out of the vehicle, I rented FYI, have it threaten to be impounded because I was driving on a suspended, which I was never notified of nor of anything that was happening to my license. Thanks AllianceOne, you truly give a damm. -pissedofinsilverdale

I have had to deal with these rude/ignorant people too. I paid off a debt to them a while back because I found out that my license had been suspended and I never rec'd a letter from anyone! I paid the debt (including the ridiculous interest/fee) and thought I was done with them. Next thing I knew, there was a letter from them wanting $2700 for a ticket from 2008. I called them to ask if they could work with me (the ticket was up to $400) since I was unemployed and support 5 children on my own. They didn't care about my situation and instead of making an arrangement with me, they got a court order to freeze my account. Here again, no notification from them. I called my bank (thank God my bank has excellent employees) to find out what happened. Unfortunately they recommended I call these skanks again and find out what can be arranged. Is there anything I can do to make sure they do not pull the extra payment card or denial of pre-arranged payments?

I agree with the complaints but the employees and ex employees are naive. They are guided by rules and can be sued. There are many attorneys that will take them on on contigency and you will collect damages from them and they have to pay the attorneys. I just collected from them and My State AG is now ready to take actions against them also.

It is unfortunate that this program exists in its current form. I dont think the municipal courts, when presented with an opportunity to streamline the collection process, ever realized that the program would become so mucked up. However, putting the drivers license reapplication program in the hands of a for-profit collection company was a tragic mistake. Municipal judges need more power to help out people who are trying to straighten out their lives (get a drivers License). Cussing and swearing at A-1 ISNT THE ANSWER. The answer lies in how the program is set up. Added fees interest rates, misinformation by A-1, unaffordable payment options, ect. just compound an already daunting task for these people. As for A-1 they are debt collectors, they are in the business of collecting past due bills. The drivers License program is merely a tool that they use to obtain that objective . However it is a potent tool. It is a tool that other collection agencies would kill to have. And, it is a tool that A-1 has unfortunately abused, repeatedly and with impunity, through the years. They are not geared towards helping-just collecting. This is the heart of the failure .

In the last few years, I have spoken with the courts (municipal judges, prosecutors, and public defenders), who agree with
me that the "wheel is broken". They see an increasing number of people who are basically good people, trapped in this failing program. thus the question remains--how to fix it? DWLS TICKETS CONSTITUTE A FOURTH OF ALL MUNCIPAL CASES TODAY. This is totally unacceptable load, and is a direct reflection of a failed program. A new one needs to be implemented ASAP.

Finally, in an age of recession and budget cuts, has anyone considered the money municipalities are losing by selling them off to a private company? And if this transfer does indeed occur, shouldnt the debt itself be transferred from a municipal debt, to a civil debt? It seems to me like the very action of tranference relieves the court of collection as well as enforcement duties.Especially if this action involves profit.
If this is true, municipals should increase the time they hold tickets to 2 years. this would help people and judges institute repayment plans affordably. Tickets over 2 years should be turned over toA-1 as a civil debt. The Re-licensing programs would go back to the Municipal judges, where it shouldve been the whole time.

I called them to make a payment, after they got my debit card information they hung up on me and didnt give me a confirmation #, i called back 5 times and each time someone answered they hung up on me before i could say anything. Finally i spoke to a manager about my accont, They told me i owed a certain amount when i set up the payment arrangement. so i should have only one more payment, then after today they said i owed them 2more payments. and the manager called me a stupid liar, and that i must have "wrote it down wrong" when i have the bill in my damn hands. He said im lying, and he was very rude to me and said evrything i am saying today is not true-about the reps hanging up on me after they got all my information-. You shuld be glad im one of the few who actually is paying my past due bill. so no need to be a COMPLETE ### and call ME a liar when it is your company that are scamming me and not documenting all my payments.
