roof insurance claim
after reopening my business after a provincial shut down due to Covid-19, I came in to reopen for business and found that my roof was leaking. I called the insurance company and was assured that everything would be looked after. their first attempt to patch my roof was unsucessful and the company hired to do the work gave the insurance a quote for the replacement of the whole roof. the contractor was fired and Wawanesa hired another company Heritage Roofing to do the same thing and they assured Wawanesa that it could be repaired and did not need to be replaced. both times my roof leaked and ruined my flooring and caused me to loose business because I had to close. I finally after 8 months and one snowfall decided I had to replace it myself as all the rotted ceiling was caving in and Wawanesa said they have done all they are legally obligated to do and were not going to do anything more for me. After 11 months of having a ceiling with no insulation and multiple close downs for the repairs they are unwilling to negotiate
Desired outcome: I am still waiting for them to pay for my new roof which I had fully replaced for 35,000 instead of the 40+ they were quoted I don't think this is too much to ask. I
water damages
We had a big ice storm and winds on January 24. It lifted some corners of our roofing and water got inside our house. It was dripping from a plug in our bedroom and had to put a towel. It was also dripping pretty hard in our washroom and in computer room. It also went in our kitchen downstairs. We were told that our policy doesn't cover because roofing has to be completely gone or holes. We are pretty sure that there are holes were the water was dripping. A lot of people that we know had problems like us during that storm and their insurance company pays for all the damages.
The price that we pay for home insurance and hear that it doesn't cover is really frustrating. We are really thinking about changing our home insurance company.
We would like for Wawanesa to pay for the damage that this storm did to our home. Our policy number is HPC0204883
changing rates, fraud, and the worst of customer service
I have been a Wawanessa Insurance for Auto customer for over 10. years. Recently, They admitted to lack of staffing, taking over 3 weeks to cash checks, and bumbling incompetence. This is in reference to having payment in 9 installments not monthly. This occurred in Sept.2015. They did not bill correctly and then when their error was caught, attempted to...

being charged something that I did not request
i had called my insurance to add a 3rd vehicle to my policy. I have a teenage daughter, who has a g2, and had already been on my policy as a casual driver prior to all of this. Myself as a primary and my husband as a primary. when I added the 3rd vehicle I was told that I would be called back with a quote however I received a message on my cell telling me he added full coverage for the 3rd car . and I should call the representative back so a week or 2 went byand I finally returned the call fully expecting a full coverage was added and very aware of that except the quote was not about full coverage he actually added my daughter as a primary user. I educated him that I didn't want her as primary what so ever. then he stated that I should've known that if you have more license drivers in the home you can only have one primary per car . I asked for him to change it all back but he did not do as I requested and charged an outrageous amount for something I had no knowledge about prior. then the pmt bounced because this occurred about 3 days prior to funds coming out, I received nsf charges and they don't want to reimburse me. this is not ok for me. what do you think?
insurance fire claim
Wawanesa and there insurance policy is not worth the paper it is printed on...after 8 years of policy payments.I have suffered a devastating house fire January 2011 and have had no support from this company...my adjuster Wilf Moeller has not addressed this case in good faith in any way whatsoever it has been over 15 months and the loss of my home and personal belongs are still in there hands, every attempt that I have made to rebuild my home has been met with road blocks from Wilf Moeller and the Wawanesa Insurance company, that he represents. Even hiring a lawyer and spending over 12, 000 thousand dollars and climbing my house has now been for-closed on and I am being sued by the bank for losses incurred, Wawanesa made a deal behind my back with the Mortgage company for a cash settlement and that way they did not have to rebuild my home, but all along saying that we Wawanesa would like to do the best for you and rebuild your house when they had no intention of rebuilding at all.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BUY ANY TYPE OF INSURANCE POLICY FROM THIS COMPANY, AS I MENTIONED AT THE START OF MY EMAIL THERE POLICY IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS PRINTED ON.
over insuring/overcharging
I am writing to let Wawanesa know why I am no longer insuring my home under your insurance policy. I never renewed it due to the yearly increase of aproximately $100.00 per year. When I first started insuring it was &15.00 for sewre back up. Now it has increased to $100.00. That is an increase of 85% in only a 10 year gap. I have insured my home for years, whether it is this one or previous homes. I will also not be renewing my car insurance as well. I will be moving on over. Not to mention my daughter will be switching her insurance from wawanesa when it is up. She will follow in her mother's footsteps and go where I go. Thank you for your cooperation regarding your scaming!

hail damage
On July 10 and 15, 2008 we experienced large hail in Lethbridge and our tar and gravel roof started to leak afterward. We notified the insurance company who has refused to cover repair to the roof even though they did pay for the front window where the seal was broken and it had moisture inside. We have a policy with replacement cost that we have been paying for for years, so, is this why they are reneging on this contract? The adjuster tried to intimidate us by telling me that if we pursued the issue, then they would not cover damages at our other home where our daughter lives and where water got inside from the damaged roof there. The adjusters frequently did not get back to us and delayed, delayed. Due to the intimidation, I decided to make sure the severe damage at our daughter's home was repaired before I pursued this issue. In March 2009 the adjuster asked for damage estimates to the roof and window. They covered the window but denied the roof. They told me I would have to go to arbitration. On April 23, 2008 my roof now started to leak in the dining room after thawing from a cold snap and snow storm. I reported this but did not get response. I did not hear anything by July 14 and completed Alberta Small Claims papers as I wouldn't be able to after one year went by. The court took us to mediation and we agreed on the arbitration of two roofers and an impartial umpire if necessary. Roofers couldn't agree and the Ins. Co roofer pushed our roofer to unknowingly select a roofer who is a PREFERRED CONTRACTOR to the Insurance Co. I refused to proceed with this as at the time of my claim the insurance adjuster had sent me two papers with this roofer they selected as their top REFERRED CONTRACTOR. I phoned the head adjuster and complained that they pushed my roofer to select an umpire who was a top preferred contractor to Wawanesa questioning his impartiality. He got mad and told me they didn't have any preferred contractors and wouldn't listen to me when I told him I had two lists that they themselves sent me. He now told me they discontinued having any preferred contractors - how convenient!
He falsely accused me of having used a roofer who used to be a police officer same as me which is totally wrong. He stated that he wasn't going to pay for the roof no matter what and I could do what I want.
We are going back to the Court mediation on Jan 12, 2010.
I hold videos and photographs of the actual hail on July 15, 2008. Photos of roof leaking over patio. Photos of damage to the roof vents and gravel knocked off the roof, broken roof vents on our motor home and photos of the roof and leaking into the dining room. Recently I found a video of the same hail storm on U-tube. This video was taken at a residence approximately 1 mile straight north of our home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0ds9YpIAzc .
Howard Brown const. on the preferred contractors list was the one the Wawanesa roofer pushed onto our roofer to be the umpire on the attachments here.
Will pursue issue to Small Debts Court if able.

auto insurance claim
Dear Sir or Madam: RE: Claim # 659682 I had a non chargeable accident on 2.20.09 where I had a rear end collision and the car was totalled and the claim settled accordingly. On the other hand, I sustained some injuries and incurred medical expenses in the amount of $1, 700 (appromixately). The claims adjuster Mr. Steven Bryant from my insurance company...

On Tuesday, April 21, I ran over a boulder. I knew there was severe damage to the undercarriage of the car because of the crunch and scrapes I heard. Since there was traffic behind, and beside me and there wasn't time to react I really didn't have any choice. I drove about three miles looking for the gas station I had used for a previous car when it needed repair but they were not repairing cars any more. As I drove a little farther, the engine started to growl and just stalled and stopped. I got the car into the dealer that night and the dealer said I needed a new oil pan and transmission pan. I gave them the go ahead to repair it. I called my Insurance Company on Thursday (thinking I had to give them the cost of repair for the car) and they wanted to send a agjuster but it was too late- the car was already being repaired. My car was ready on April 25 and I paid for it by credit card. The car seemed ok initially but as I drove it the next two weeks the engine didn't have the power it should have. On May 11, the engine started tick-ticking so I drove it home and parked it. The next day I called Wawanesa and informed them that I believed the engine was part of the boulder accident. In the conversation she said she was waiting for approval of the first part, (the oil and transmission pans) and would let me know in two days whether to take the car in for additional repair. After thinking about it, I decided two days was unacceptable- I needed the car to get to work so I needed it to go into the shop immediately. I called the agent, told her I couldn't wait so she went to find out about thefirst part I waited on the line. She said go ahead so I had the towed to Saturn. I gave her a statement about what, when, where and how and she said she would put it through for approval. If I spoke with her after that I got no more information and I had left her several messages to let me know the accident was approved. Later that same day Saturm called and said it needed a new engine and that there was underlying (unseen) problem with the engine caused by the boulder. The adjuster came by Saturn on May 13.
I called and left several messages to different people at Wawanesa (mostly the agent) and would not get an answer. I would call often and usually have to leave a message. And if I did get a person, they would not give me a straight answer.
Here is the gist of it-
April 21- ran over boulder
April 22- Saturn said car needed new oil pan and transmission pan.
April 23- called Wawanesa and filed claim.April 25- car repaired. May 11, engine tick-ticking. May 12, called Wawanesa and took car back to Saturn. May 15, adjuster stopped at Saturn to check car. May 21, gave another statement to Wawanesa and asked what was happening. She could not give me an answer. May 29 called Wawanesa again- still no answer about coverage. Later I got a voice mail at home saying the car would be fixed- but when I called Saturn they said Wawanesa wanted to put in a used engine- which would be unacceptable because it would compromise my warranty. I called and left message with Wawanesa that a used engine was unacceptable.
June 1- left message with agent- she never called back, but I heard from my brother who was helping me that new engine was approved. June 2, Saturn ordered new engine. I received reimbursement for first part of accident in the mail. June 11, Car is ready- waiting for check from Wawanesa. June 15- Saturn got check from Wawanesa and I got car back.It took almost two months from start to finish. I finally DID get the car back, but I think the time it took and the way I was ignored was inexcusable-

I made a claim to wawanesa 2 months in regards to my roof blowing off due to a storm and still I am without a roof. A house without a roof sound really IMPORTANT to me!
While stopped at a crosswalk at a school, a lady opened her door during a winding day and the wind blew it into the front fender of my truck. Not seeing or hearing this happen, I started to move forward and jammed further into my truck and I stopped when i heard metal crunching. Although she initially stated I hit a "parked" car, she recanted and stated she open her car door and I hit it then. Well, Wawanesa is investigating with pictures and statements from me and her because we have conflicting stories. Although I have been ruled NOT at Fault by my insurance company, Wawanesa is stating that they need to see if my story checks out then, they will also see if moving the truck caused more damage than if I saw the door hit and I never moved. Then, they will decide a percentage of who is at fault. This is wrong and this company needs to be fined for lying and accusing others of fault so they do not have to pay claims. I am also planning to have the lady prosecuted for filing a false insurance claim. I would NOT want this company for insurance at all. What crooks.
My daughter borrowed my car briefly and unfortunately had a fender bender on NOvember 14. It was reported to Wawanesa and as of today they ae denying the claim saying she was excluded from my policy. I had that statement removed September 2006 as she turned 21 and did not live with me.
After over a month of the insurance company investigating, which seems like a very long time for this and absolutley ridiculous, they said that they could not find records of this. I was asked by Brandon if I knew who I had talked to 3 1/5 years ago, which I think for any person would be a guess. This person not only didn't have answers for me, but sounded like someone who was on heavy meds by his conversation. I have NEVER had a claim against the insurance company as I have NEVER had an accident and I am 52. I was recorded on the phone being asked questions about the incident. I was very truthful in what I said and was told I would hear back from them by Friday that week. Needless to say...I did NOT hear back from them. I later after the fact received a letter in the mail stating they were denying the claim and I could contact an Insruace Bureau to complain about the situation. I have all the intentions in doing so.
It looks as though I am not the only one who has been shown injustice from the company by viewing other complaints. There are many people in the world who have paid insurance for years with NO claims and when something does happen, they deny you of their trusted service. This is totally inexcusable of a reputable company to treat GOOD customers as they do.
