Western Dental Services unethical practices and appointment tardiness

Today my daughter was scheduled to have her wisdom teeth removed. A previous appointment supposedly determined the positioning of the teeth and the need for this. that was also an initial exam and cleaning for our two children. It took a total of four to 4.5 hours (half a work day!) until they got out of that office after at least an hour waiting to be seen. With appointment scheduled for 11am, my wife and daughter arrived a bit early and proceeded to wait for 2 hrs before my daughter was called back. After being called back my daughter was then presented with options for payment with the staff member stating that our insurance only covered 50% of the cost and that she could choose to join a "plan" and the cost out of pocket dropped dramatically. once my wife was involved she was infuriated that this was not discussed previously as she had inquired the day prior to all costs so nothing would surprise us. Long story short, after 2.5 hrs and nothing done yet, I instructed them to leave after I contact a dentist friend in Phoenix and he explained that centers like this are not patient care oriented, only numbers ($) oriented and that those who sign people up for the "plans" are on commission. I contacted the Pantano/Broadway office and when I presented these things to the lady on the phone, nothing was denied and I was basically met with no response. People - stay away from these dental mill type practices, find a reputable dentist and also check to ensure your insurance plans are PPO types and not DMO types. It was explained to me by my dentist friend that PPOs are more desirable by offices because they allow dentists greater flexibility in the choice of higher quality outside services with quality and patient well-being in mind.

Western Dental Services horrible dental business!

I had a dental appointment for June 10th. When I made the appointment, I had specifically told them that I needed to come in before the July 1st cut off date for Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal patients because I have a plastic stayplate that needs to be repaired. (A stayplate is a little plastic partial, also referred to as a ''flipper', and is made to look like my bottom two missing front teeth.) Medi-Cal only pays for one every 5 years, which is stupid to begin with, because they are TEMPORARY and not meant for long term usage. I was assured on the phone before I made the appointment that Western Dental can fix it.

06-10-2009
I went to the office for my appointment at 9:00 am. I ended up coming in the door 5 - 10 minutes late because I was given an incorrect address for the office. I was assured that they could see me, and that I only had 2 - 4 people in front of me. While I sat there in the waiting room, I started seeing people getting called to the back that had gotten there AFTER me. I asked twice how long I would have to wait, without a valid response. I was in the waiting room for over 3 hours.
I was then taken into a small room for x-rays. I overheard the two dental assistants debating on who should take the x-rays because the one girl had never done them before. I waited in that small closet of a room for 15 mins. I told both assistants that my other teeth were fine, and that I just came in because I need to get my stayplate fixed.
I was then taken to a large room with little partial compartments and directed to a chair in a laying down position. The area was dirty, with used cotton rolls and other material on the floor. I heard one child screaming in pain. I tried not to look in their direction. There was NO privacy whatsoever as seats were made to extrude from the partial compartments. My x-rays were in plain visible eyesight for everyone to see. The monitor in front of me had a list of different patients names, which I believe violates a patient's confidentiality rights.
The dentist finally came to me and tried to look in my mouth. I told him that I was just here because I needed to get my stayplate repaired. He told me (without even LOOKING at it!) that I have to take it back to my original dentist to get it repaired. My original dentist is 2 hours away (I had moved) and had no way of getting there. He then said that they have an employee that makes them, but they cannot repair my stayplate because it is plastic. So then why refer me to the original dentist if it is non-repairable? I asked the dentist to put in a request for a new one, to which he said that I had to call Denti-Cal myself to request a new one. I left crying.
While I was in the parking lot, I called Denti-Cal [protected]). They told me that they do not have record of my original stayplate, so I can have the DENTIST put in a referral for a new one. I went back in to the office, explained the situation, and WATCHED the dentist fill out a referral form, which I was told would be faxed that same day to the billing department.

06-26-2009
I called Denti-Cal to check on my referral. They said they never received it. I called the corporate billing office for WD at [protected]. I talked to a woman named Patti at ext. 4607. They claimed they never received the request for referral. I was told to call the branch. The receptionist told me that Denti-Cal probably just didn't process my claim yet. I told her it is because they haven't RECEIVED it! I was then put on the phone with Sophia, the medical billing Supervisor. She said that they had lots of patients whose claims were never sent because they were so busy and that Denti-Cal would probably deny my claim and tons of others because they were being filed so late. I then replied that if I don't at least get a CHANCE to get an approval or denial from Denti-Cal because WD neglected to send my claim to Denti-Cal, that I would sue the hell out of them to cover the needed services. I was then told that my claim was being faxed as I was on the phone, and Denti-Cal would receive it same or next day. I ended the phone call at 4:28 pm.

07-2009
I get a call from Western Dental saying that my ROOT CANAL was approved. What the hell?! Root canal? I don't have any tooth pain. I was told to continue waiting for approval from Denti-Cal for my stayplate.

08-26-2009
I called Denti-Cal to check on the status of my claim for a stayplate. I was told that they never received a request for a stayplate, only a root canal. And now it's too late to send them a new claim for a stayplate. I called the corporate office again, who stated that they have no record of my claim for a stayplate. I then explained my situation for Jessica, ext. 4604 with customer relations. She directed me to call the branch manager. I called them again, and was patched through to the medical biller Supervisor, Sophia. Again...
She claimed to have had no recollection of me. I had to explain the situation all over again. She said they only faxed over a claim for a root canal, not a stayplate. I did NOT ask for or was advised that I needed a root canal. I don't even know what tooth they are talking about! In addition, she said I needed 3 fillings as well. WHAT? The dentist didn't even look at my teeth. How would he even know? She said my claim for the stayplate was never even processed or faxed out. I said that I cannot pay for these dental services because I have Medi-Cal, I can't find a job, and no one is going to hire me with my front two teeth missing. It's not esthetically pleasing to prospective employers or customers. She then asked me if I wanted to come in and pay to have my stayplate fixed. I just about lost my cool on that one. She apparently hadn't been listening to me at all, and I had stated that to her as well. I don't have a JOB! How can I pay for these services?
I said that I would be in the office in one or two days and I wanted a copy of every single piece of paper they had about me, and that I would be suing them. I was told that my file would be left up front to be picked up in 2 days.

ABOUT 15 MINS LATER...
Sophia called me back, asking what was wrong with my stayplate. Again... And then she said she felt bad for me and wanted me to bring it in (like I'm going to go in public without it and a huge gap where my two bottom front teeth should be!) so they can see what they can do to repair it. Translation? They don't want to be SUED, because they know that they are wrong.

Apparently, there are TONS of people that went to Western Dental before services were cut on July 1st that have claims that were NEVER SENT to Denti-Cal BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION! That was a ridiculous move on their part. I have already requested an information packet to file a complaint with the Dental Board of California. The number is [protected]. I urge everyone that has been totally disregarded in the same fashion as myself to stand up for your rights! File a complaint! Call and stand up for yourself! Just because we're poor doesn't mean we have to be taken advantage of.

I went to the WD in Santa Rosa on Farmers Ln because I got an abscess and it was soooo painful. I have always taken good care of my teeth, had braces for 3 1/2 years...etc, but I was no longer under my parents insurance so what could I do? I called WD and went in the next day. I didn't have to wait a long time and thank goodness because the waiting room is not very pleasant. I got my x-rays taken like 5 different times because the girl couldn't get the little plate in the right places of my mouth. She never could get a clear picture of my back teeth either. So we finally gave up and they took me to the dentist. He spent like 2 seconds looking at my mouth and then my x-rays and told the girl to take me back to get x-rays again because he couldn't see the back teeth clearly. There we go again with x-rays, and she still can't get the back teeth! (She must have graduated from Heald or Everest or one of those scam schools). So I go back to the chair and they are just going patient to patient, not giving their full attention to anyone.

When the dentist (I don't even know if he can be called a dentist) came back to me, he was just like "Okay, we need to see you here immediately. You need your wisdom teeth pulled and you also have 13 (yes, THIRTEEN) cavities! It was so sketchy to me, but I agreed to come back to have my wisdom teeth pulled...yes...I almost got scammed! That same night I contacted my regular dentist and decided to go see him the next day. He checked my teeth and said I don't have ANY cavities and never to go to places like Western Dental because they are INCOMPETENT and they tell you you have problems that you don't have! Needless to say, I had my wisdom teeth pulled by my reputable dentist.

About a week after that, Western Dental calls me to make an appointment to get my teeth pulled. I told them I found someone else and they were like "well, you signed the agreement to have the work done here" and I lost it, I started screaming at the girl that if they contact me or send me just one bill that I was going to sue them for malpractice and that I went to my regular dentist who said I don't have any cavities when you guys told me I had 13! I haven't heard anything since :)

Western Dental Services crooked billing practices

Western failed to provide necessary information to my insurance company in order to receive payment. Western began harassing me for payment using robo-calls (automatically dialed calls). After many harassing calls, I got Western to talk to the insurance company. Thereafter, Western admitted that it was their fault, but the harassing calls continued. With each call (to my home, cell and work) I reminded them that it was their fault and that I wanted the calls stopped. They said that they could not stop the robo-calls until the bill was paid. The calls continued. Finally, Western received payment from my insurance company. The calls continued. I provided to Western the check numbers. The calls continued. I confirmed with my insurance company that the checks had been cashed. The calls continued. I have asked to speak to supervisors. They are "in a meeting" and have not responded to my request to speak to a supervisor. The calls have continued. I have written their corporate office. The calls have continued. I have filed complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Apparently, consumer affairs is not covered by the California Department of Consumer Affairs. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau... so far they have not responded. I asked my insurance company to see if there was anything they could do, but they said no. Does anyone know of an attorned that is interested in a case? Whatever you do, never, never, never, never use Western Dental.

Western Dental Services unethical procedures & business practice

My experience has been horrible(to say the least) from the minute i stepped foot in the fairfield, california office. My first trip i waited 4 hours in the front and 2 once seated in the back before they even looked at my mouth. In the last couple of months i have had 5 root canals, 5 extractions, 4 crowns, and a cple fillings as well as prep work and fittings(so far) for a partial upper and lower denture. Let me first off state that in my 30 years of life i've been through thousands and thousands of dollars worth of dental treatment and am really tolerant when it comes to receiving dental work. But throughout the last couple months i have been what seems to be part of a horror film-like experiment. It felt like they had no consideration(at all) for my physical being and savagely performed their work as if I wasn't conscious(or even alive at that) throughout the whole nightmarish ordeal. During the worst of it I had to stop and tell the dentist to "knock that ### off" and stop pushing so hard against my gums. While applying my crowns they stretched my mouth so wide and so inhumanely that both edges of my mouth ripped and bled. Aside from that for the last 3 weeks I've lived my life walking around with an extremely unsightly gap in the front of my mouth while waiting on my partials to arrive. I received a call last monday which is when i had an appointment for the fitting but instead received a call from a receptionist who informed me they hadn't arrived yet. She explained that they'll give me a call when they arrive but that they should come in by the end of the week.So i told her thats fine. Before i continue let me explain that I'm currently as close to losing my job as possible due to all the time i've had to take off for the numerous visits throughout all of this. On friday i called to find out if the fittings had arrived but was told they still hadn't come in. So i called again on saturday and found out that they actually HAD received them on thursday. I askd the receptionist why they failed to notify me when they showed up & was told "we were just given the printout of individuals to call". So again i realized i would have to deal with it & was told to come in today, monday, a week after they were originally suppose to have me come in for the fitting. When i arrived today i began my wonderful and ever-so-welcoming visit with the receptionist telling me that i no longer have cmsp as of 2 days ago and even though i was provided a printout months ago from cmsp with the approval and authorization to provide all these services and for the partials i had to reapply and become eligible before they would finalize the procedure & supply me with the partials. After a brief show of disgust and exchange of words with who i think MAY have been a supervisor...they agreed to have me fitted. But of course as always nothing in that office could ever go as smoothly as one may wish for. So when they sat me down they had realized the lab had made a mistake that would extend my wait another 3 weeks or a month. THE LAB SENT A BROKEN AND WRONGLY CONFIGURED FITTING. So once again they sent me on my way large gap and all wondering if/when i'll ever wake up from this hellish nightmare. Seriously people let this and all the other horror stories you read online be the motivational force for you to get up, get out, and put a stop to these DENTAL TERRORISTS! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT FOR THE SAKE OF THE NEXT INDIVIADUAL WHO COMES TO WESTERN DENTAL IN FAIRFIELD, CALIFORNIA and any other mentioned locations who virtually have no consideration for yours, mine, or anyones well being.

Western Dental Services getting braces at western dental, mistake

My parents took me to western dental to get braces, mistake mistake mistake! We had to go there because of our financial situation. First off this place is ghetto, the employees are rude, the employees also dont know what they are doing, you have to wait forever, horrible costumer service. Anyways, I also couldn't go to a good dentist because I hadn't lost all my teeth, I still like 12 teeth to loose so we went to western dental and they were just fine with putting them on. For the first few months everything was fine but then my parents got behind on payments but caught up so then western dental wouldnt see me because we were behind so for about eighth months I didnt go back there... Eight months. Oh and they constantly call 247 about paying your payment even before the payments due and they mail you all this crap and constantly bug you. Anyways so we went back and I went there and they took me to get x rays and the lady didnt know how to do them so she had to redo them three or four times. Then I was sitting there and there like "what are we doing today?" your asking me what your ganna do to my teeth?" how should I know, they didnt even know. Then they said they couldnt do anything to my tetth because they put them on really early and I still had around 7 teeth to loose and they couldnt do anything so I would have to wait and that means I would end up having braces for alotlonger then planned as well as get billed more. Real good dentist know you should never put braces on a kid when they have only lost half of there teeth. So they didnt know what to do and were ganan charge us all this money since I would have to extend the time of having braces so we left and ever came back and complained and got half of our money back but unfourtenately they didnt take my braces off so know im stuck with braces till I loose all my teeth. Its a very hard story to explain but really they ripped us off. Having braces was such a waste because of them. Now im ganna have braces for years. Dont go there nor any western dental in the u. S or you will regret it trust me!

The dentist and customer service is horrible. They are always late to appointments and don't take into consideration the patient's time. I am getting my braces off soon but they seem to be unable to fix a final problem in my teeth. They also made me reschedule my appointment 4 weeks later because I was late to my appointment. I told the secretary that I was late because everytime I was on time it took an hour to see me anyway. UGHHH can't wait to get these braces off so I never have to step foot in that hole again!

Western Dental Services it all started w/a root canal

I went to get a root canal around the mid of 2008, who would of know what a bad year I would have ahead of me. The doctor did the root canal, at that time I had Medi-cal letter on it was cut. I started noticing that my mouth would have an awful ordor even after brushing my teeth. In a matter of weeks I started getting a flavor in my mouth with was puss. My face started geeting all swollen from my left side where the root canal was done. I once again got Medical and went to the dentis with a disfigured face. They said the root canal did not stick or something like that since I over heared two dentist speaking. The dentist who had done the root canal said, I should call Medical and see if they would pay so that I could got with another specialist. I asked him to just pull it out since I had already got a root canal and did not want to go thru the pain again. After the infecton cleared they pulled it out along with two top wisdom teeth. A week later I started geeting severe pain only to my whole left side of head, face and neck. I went to the clinic and told me a had an infection on my head. I took the medicine that was perscribed. When it was time for my two week check up to see how my wounds were healing I told the doctor about my symptoms and he said everything was fine. Once again I got pain I was going back and forth from the health clinic to dentist. I kept insisting that the pain I felt was about where the bottom tooth had been pulled out. Evertime I went the Dentist seemed annoyed I seemed to ignore what I was teeling him. I would get soo.. much pain during the night, I could not sleep, I was unable to take care of my 2 year old daugter, she had to stay with grandma.I failed my college courses, and now I'm scared to go to the dentist. I know I need to fix the problem but who can you really trust?
June15 again I went to tell them my face was getting swollen, a female dentis helfed me I explained and she just hit my tooth the one before the one that got pulled and said you need a root canal.
As of I believe July 2009 Medical dose not cover adults over 21, so I'm assed out, once more so I thought. 5 days go Western Dental sent me a letter saying they would provide me with another root canal.
What should I do?

It all began in January when we suspected Western Dental of insurance fraud, so we went to talk to the manager and have her explain why they were billing my insurance (Delta dental) almost twice as much as my services cost. My husband and I had been patients there for a month and gotten a few cavities filled, cleaning, extraction and X rays. They basically...

Western Dental Services poor service, dirty facility

I called 1-800-dentist, two weeks prior to the actual appointment date which was then scheduled for a Saturday. The agent on the phone was very nice and helpful in attaining a dental place which would accommodate my children’s different insurance carriers. I have three kids, so finding a dentist in one office seemed to be the best fit. We just moved to the area, and I was not familiar with the community, so I based my trust on this dental referral. I was advised to go online and print out the new patient information packets to avoid a long waiting period on my appointment date.

The week of the appointment, I called Western Dental’s 1-800 number to ask a few questions on how to fill out the new patient packet information. The rep noticed that three of my children were scheduled for a Saturday appointment and alerted me that this should never have happened. There is a maximum of two kids per household to be seen back to back. So, he rescheduled my other daughter to come in later that week, and appointed all three of them to see the orthodontist for an evaluation for braces for that same day. I had no problem with that and thanked him for catching the mistake. He helped me with my question and I was happy to know that filling out all paperwork will help speed things up since Saturday was the busiest day of the week to visit Western Dental. He also made sure that my children’s information was in the system so that I wouldn’t have any delays in getting insurance coverage verified.

However, on the Saturday of the appointment, my children and I waited for approximately 1 ½ hours before being called in. I wasn’t alone in the facility, feeling impatient and frustrated. There were others waiting over two hours alongside with us. My kids were finally called in at 12:30 PM (they were scheduled for 11AM) and got their x-rays taken. Then, they were told to sit and wait, yet again, for an “available” dental seat. This wait took another 30 minutes for my son to be called in for his exam and cleaning. My daughter was later called in at 1:20PM for her cleaning and exam. It was after 3PM when we finally exited the office. We were in there, mostly waiting, for a total of 4 hours. In addition, because our original scheduled appointment time was 11AM, we had not had any lunch yet. And we were advised that the kids had to wait about another 30 minutes after their cleaning and one hour for sealants until they are able to eat anything.

During our four hours of waiting, I wondered why the facility scheduled so many people, all at once, if they couldn’t handle the volume. Why do families have to spend half of their Saturday afternoon, waiting in a dentist office that obviously is overloaded with work that can not be accommodated in a timely fashion? Why schedule people in a time slot/day with the knowledge that they will not be seen until way later? Why not advise those patients/parents to come in early, or even later, if this is how the facility operates? I did my part, in every way I can imagine possible, to expedite our new patient status. We were on time and filled out all necessary paperwork prior to our appointment date. Wait, though, it gets even more interesting when we show up for my third child’s appointment later that same week.

That following Wednesday, we arrived earlier and I checked in my daughter at 2:50PM. I held my breath, as my daughter was called in, only having to wait 30 minutes. I thought that maybe this past Saturday was a fluke, and I should just keep in mind to schedule during the work week, since it seemed to move more fluidly this time around. I was wrong. After her x-rays were taken, she was called in for her exam. It was about 3:50PM when I checked in her room to see her just laying in the dental seat. She had been waiting there for 30 minutes, so I motioned an assistant to find out what was prolonging things. My daughter was just having a routine exam and cleaning done. He apologized and went to look for the person in charge of her procedure. She was out to lunch and I was told that she was going to cut her lunch short for us. He also said that she would be in about another 5 minutes, so she can finish up her break time. I was fine with that. However, it baffled me that a lunch break was placed during the same time my daughter was in a room by herself, she is only 10 years old. I am glad that I listened to my gut to check in on her.

Another 30 minutes passed, and my child’s sealants were finally being worked on by the floor supervisor, who was obviously a little bit irritated since we intruded on her break. I tried to converse with her and asked her, “You guys must be real busy today” and shared with her my thoughts on being there for a long period of time, expressing that we were going on two hours, and she blatantly responds, “No, we are not that busy, we are kind of slow today.” So, her response really confused me and I probed even further…”Really?” I asked, “But, we have been here for about two hours already.” And she adds that our wait of two or three hours is “typical” and that we were “lucky” that it didn’t grace four to six hours. She added that there were lots of paperwork and insurance verifications that needed to happen before the service was provided, but I assured her that I did all the paperwork beforehand and that the front desk verified everything already. She then completed her procedure, but said that we still had to wait for instruments to be cleaned before the cleaning was to take place.

On the same note, the place was also unkempt. There were used mouth swabs and cotton strewn on the floor. Some cotton pieces clearly had blood stains on them. It was pretty gross to look at for the amount of time we were waiting. Yes, offices do get busy, but when you are in a business that deals with human body fluids, you would think that there is a procedure in place to keep the place clean and presentable at all times.

A dentist, who oversaw my daughter’s earlier exam, passed the room, and wondered why we were still there. Evidently, some types of instruments needed for the cleaning were in sterilization, and we had to wait until that was done. So, another 30 minutes passed before my daughter’s cleaning was accomplished. We didn’t leave the facility until after 6PM, over three hours after checking in. By the way, her cleaning took only 15 minutes.

In summery, my family was involved in two separate appointment schedules during the same week and in both incidences had similar outcomes in regards to the lengthy waiting periods of an obviously overloaded dental office. The staff was as nice as they could possibly be, but, that is not enough to soothe customers who have lost their patience. This particular office needs to address this problem and figure out better ways in customer service and time efficiency. I was disappointed in my children’s appointments; I was even more appalled to learn that waiting periods at this office could sometimes exceed more than five hours on a “typical” day. Clearly, the operations of the facility need revamping and reviewing. Also, there needs to be an investigation done in regards to the cleanliness of this facility. I am sure if they were to have a visit done by health inspectors, the facility would surely fail the minimal requirements.

Western Dental Services refund process

The National City, CA Western Dental Office overcharged my debit card by 122.00 on 5/7/09 and when I caught it I called that office for a refund. Their accounting manager Myra was rude and told me it would take 3 to 6 weeks for a refund. I asked to speak to her manager Cindy and she confirmed it would take that long. I asked for their corporate number and spoke with Diana she told me 5 to 7 days and I have yet to see a refund. It is now 5/25/09 and by 6/3/09 I will owe another payment. What will they do then when I don't pay? They sent a receipt for the amount owed not the amount taken. The only records I have are my bank records that show their mistake. It looks like I'll have to devote even more time to this misshap. On top of the 3.50 charge I encurred for faxing proof of the mistake via my bank records. I don't even trust my bank account is safe now that I sent this information to them.

I have yet another call in to their financial officer David Joe. Waiting to see if I will get a call back. As of now I have cancelled all my appointments and refuse to do any more business with them. I am unhappy with the cosmetic work they did and now that they can't even accomplish proper ediquite in customer service.

AND IT CONTINUES...

Western Dental Manager @ Corporate office named Cindy was both rude and incompetent. A late charge has been assessed to my account as well. My first complaint was about an overcharge accounting error that occured on 5/7/09 and my cosmetic veneers that are on crooked. I was refunded incorrectly by their books. I received my full refund but, when I called to ask for an adjustment to the statement showing their error and asked them to correct it, Cindy blew off her rude mouth. My records indicated that I was refunded 122.00 and the account @ western dental said I was refunded 100.00, thus giving my account a credit of 22.00. When I brought this to the attention of their office before any late charges occured they said they would fix it. It's to their benifit that they do, right? Cindy then said she would not send an adjusted statement and that she would not waive the late fee. Even though I asked for my account to be corrected well before it would have been late, I couldn't trust their accounting and so I was waiting to hear before I sent any money. I was still charged a late fee. She said I should pay the late charge because, she would pay it if it were her. She was just plain RUDE! She should be fired!
I told her I'd contact my lawyer. Who told me to pay and then sue them for malpractice and damages. I may not get the late fee waived but, believe me they will pay damages and I will make sure Cindy is named in the lawsuit for her horribly rude conduct.

I was told I needed a full mouth debridement by Western Dental last year I think in December they said that my insurance won't cover it so I had to pay out of pocket so we made a plan to pay deposit and about $50 a month from there until it was paid the next month the doctor came and told me that the dentist or nurse gave me an incorrect treatment and then I was going to be refunded it was later in the day so they told me that I could call to do the paperwork after I did that and it took them two weeks I had to keep calling and finally someone in the office at my local office said that it got turned in the 26th of January this year 2017 I still have not received a refund even though they said it would take 20 to 40 business days it is now almost May of 2017 I have called customer service I have demanded to talk to the manager and I received nothing from anybody I'm infuriated and I'm going in there tomorrow demanding to talk to the manager I feel so powerless they should go out of business!

Western Dental Services avoid like plague

I had an apt with western dental and not only was I made to wait 45 minutes before I went in I was seated in a room that was, and this is the best way I can describe it, a communal dental office with dentists all around and patients, including myself with no privacy. I t was in one big room and everyone can see your x-rays and the work the dentists are doing on you. I was already scared, naturally but now I was mortified and embarrassed. The dentist who worked on me was rude. She told me to basically shut up and not move. That I hadn't raised a hand so I wasn't in pain. She then had me bite down after doing my fillings, did not tell me how hard to bite down so when the filling broke she proceeded to rudely tell me that I should not have bit down that hard and that is what happens when you do. Her assistant who seemed and I know this sounds rude but 5 cans short of a six pack and her conversed on subjects I deem to be inappropriate to discuss in front of your patient such as how busy it's getting and other personal matters that should be kept to themselves. The shot hurt yes but not only did they hurt, they made it worse by moving the needle as they were doing it and giving me like 5 shots in a matter of seconds that hurt and scared the hell out of me. She was rude and she kept calling me ma'am in a condescending tone. Oh and the filling she chastised me about has since started falling out again and it's only been about 4 days. I am not new to dental work and I know what a practice should practice. This is not it.

I'm being harassed for a bill that has already been paid... They denied the complaint sent to the BBB citing confidentiality. They said they sent a release of information form.. Yeah right. I know they didn't because I received every other piece of ### mail from them. So I sent it to the Dental Board of California and the California State Atty General. It has been months of billing errors on their behalf. The bill was paid on time, never once late and I'm being harassed.

If anyone decides to receive services at Western Dental, please be careful. I have received nothing but bad service, rude customer service representatives, and overall terrible treatment.

Hello on October 2006 i left from my job cause a bad toothache i researched everywhere for a dentist to take me in i had dental insurance but because it was Saturday my choices were limited so we found this place in Sacramento, California on Stockton blvd Western dental was the place we went in waited a few hours then when it was my turn we went into one big room in the back as i looked i seen 3 men with turbans on there heads they were the so called dentists as the employees were screaming and yelling and talking slang ghetto talk they were never told to be quiet as i was in my chair i was skeptical about a man and a turban working on my teeth so i asked are you dentists they replied yes i wanted to see credentials i was so much in pain and the price was cheap i said lets do it so they did a root canal on me and while it was being done they broke the pin used to do the root canal in my tooth area but they never told me i found out when my real dentist took an x ray and seen and showed me that it was in my tooth canal of course they denied it even though i had the evidence when they completed the job they said i would have to come back to finish the root canal procedure because it was closing time as i got off the chair i seen on the floor 5 different tolls or pins used for the root canal on the ground and they said dont worry someone will get them later i should have reported them to the dental board and better business bureau i wasd glad the pain was gone but i have and will never step in another western dental office as long as i live i hope and pray that they go out of business thank you Jesus Christ

Western Dental Services fraud

In December of 2008, I went to Western Dental to get a thorough cleaning and any cavitys fixed. Not realizing Western Dental caters to low income, I decided to go there because it was close to my house. It is now April of 2009 and it's been nothing but a nightmare. Their version of a cleaning consisted of a 20 second grit polish AFTER doing some white filling repair, which now needs to be RE-DONE due to crappy work. I filed a complaint with Western Dental and they basically stated, "we're sorry", but with no help what-so-ever. I now have to find another dentist to re-do what they did. BEWARE! These photos were taken 3 months AFTER their repair. Notice the middle teeth filling is now gone and in another photo, the cavity I complained about wasnt even addressed!

Western Dental Services braces

Western Dental in Riverside, CA.

I recieved a flyer for braces and the price seemed reasonable. I went in for a free consultation. I do have dental insurance but since most places are closed on Saturdays (I work Mon - Fri.), i decided to pay a visit and see how things go from there. At the time i didn't know they didn't accept DHMO so I tried to call the number for my dental insurance and everytime I did they were ready to see me so i figured why not and see what they have to say. After doing some X-rays and taking some embaressing photos they immediatly wanted me sign a contract and as stupid as I was i signed it thinking it was just some sort of paper document they needed for their records. So i was reading the contract and no where did i read anything about service rendered fees should a cancelation of the contract take into effect. They want 1, 000 dollars plus an extra 200 dollars to remove brackets!

I thought they were just doing some check ups to see what i need done and discuss them with me but what they did was do the check ups, put on some spacers, and put the brackets on the teeth and NO WIRE! What is the point of them putting on brackets with no wire? they said its part of the how they do things but I think otherwise, they did that so they can put me in a situation where it is extremely diffucult to get out of as they have some sort of contract which had to be signed before the work so they just get a signature and do a poor job as well as putting on brackets which was pointless as the first step should of been getting just the spacers on and wait until i am ready for braces. I need about 4-8 teeth pulled shouldn't they of just let me take care of the teeth extractions then come in for the braces instead of putting on brackets which are doing nothing for me at the moment. One of the brackets fell off with no wire on. I can only imagine how bad they will start falling off once I get the wire in place and to top it off there is a charge if brackets fall off as well as if i am late for an appointment. Western Dental finds any way possible to drain your wallet. They only see you as dollar signs and disregard how the best and most efficient way to help you. We are paying them for service. We do not pay them to get ripped off and recieve horrible service.

Now that I think about it, some people (not all who work there), were so mean saying stuff like "is that kid done yet"? shouting orders at me as if I am a prisoner. They put some mouth opener piece in my mouth which wreaked of a foul smell, I bet they don't even wash those things out when they are used. All I want is out of this contract with no fees due to poor service which resulted in me not trusting their work and creating doubt when stepping into their office to get work done on my teeth which they obviously have no concern for.

I submitted a written mail to the office in Riverside, CA. As well as getting in contact with their main office to file a complaint. I hope this issue doesn't have to escalted to court and such but well see. Anways, please readers, think twice about signing that contract and always get information on other dental offices as rushing into things will further delay what you want done. I honestly do not recommend Western Dental.

I went to this same office I agree with you. They did the same to me but more I had teeth extracted have been in braces for a year. My teeth look worse then before I went in to get braces. They placed brackets on me same day one month later placing a wire. One year later I have open extraction sights and after filing a complaint and seeking a opion from a other Orthodontist I received a letter stating the will not finish treatment and I must pay full contract balance. Everyone stay away from them. They will ruin your teth your day drain your wallet have the bill collectors after you and ruin your credit

Western Dental Services western dental, cheating people

Western dental
Forced my wife to sign a contract after she was in the dental chair, and under medication, after the treatment was started, and without letting read the contract. They started the treatment on her bad tooth, and then came in with the contract. She told them she was to read the contract first. They told her that if she does not sign the contract now they will stop the treatment right now. The dental services was stopped many months age. They are still sending her
Threatening bills for many services that were not done. The canceling of services with western dental were in writing and signed by a reprehensive of western dental office. She has the signed letter. We have faxed copies of this letter to their main office but the threatening bills still keep coming.

Western Dental ran my credit report without my consent. Many companies run it without your knowledge and thus damaging your credit further. Can or is there suits or class actions against companies running credit checks without your knowledge? If so, I have a list to give a lucky attorney.

Western Dental Services fraudulent charges

Western Dental does not inform you about the need to join their dental plan until after you have been seen. The fees they charge are sometimes double what is a industry standard. If you pay the extra $99.00 you are then charged a responsible fee, if you chose not to you are held liable for the higher fees. Even with insurance, you still are held liable for the higher fees. Had I been told this, I would not of gone in to see them. I asked several times if I was covered by my insurance and was reassured each and every time that I had 100% coverage and not to worry. After the exam, I was then told I would only be covered for 100% of their fees if I purchased their additional insurance. I feel very ripped off and am interested in a class action suit against them.

Please please do not go to western dental they are a total rip of it's all about the money. I went in on a mon to get a tooth pulled supposibly . They took exrays & talked to me for about 45 min told me i need $8.000 dollars worth of dental work, thank god i didn;t agree to it. So i asked them what was they going to do about the tooth that hurting right now they told me it was time to close & gave me another appointment. First of all the white girl that did my exrays made me very uncomfortable she acted like my black was going to rub off on her. I also told them about my heart condition & is on blood thinner. When they gave me an appointment for another day the never told me to stop taking the blood thinner for a few days. I found an awson dentist that i went to today that is going to do the exact same thing & only cost me $1.300 & told me to not take the blood thinner for a few day otherwise i could bleed to death. Thank you lord for saving me from those scavengers.

TO THE WELL EDUCATED:

IF YOU DON'T CARE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THEN ATTACK THE PERSON WHO HAS THE PROBLEM. SINCE WHEN DO YOU NEED TO BE EDUCATED BEFORE YOU CAN
STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS. I WOULD BET MOST PEOPLE RESPONDING TO THIS COMPLAINT ARE WELL EDUCATED DENTISTS. THE ATTACK ON THIS POOR MAN IS TYPICAL FOR MANY DENTISTS THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE TIME. THE FIRST COMMENT BY ONE PERSON WAS, "YOU HAVE NO LEGAL BACKING". THIS JERK
IS FOR SURE A DENTIST. IF SOMEONE IS UNDER EDUCATED AND DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON, THEN IT IS THE AMERICAN WAY TO PITCH IN AND HELP. YOU WHO CRITISIZE THIS MAN ARE THE REAL UNEDUCATED PEOPLE.

DO NOT use Western Dental.I went there as a Medi-cal patient to try and get my mouth fixed before my insurance ran out.I got teeth done the first day and went home.I was up all night in severe pain and had an appointment for the next morning. So i went in in pain and he supposedly fixed the problem which was that the filling was not complete. He also filled 6 others. So that is 10 fillings in 2 days.I get home and as the numbness starts to wear off, the pain starts again.I get a little mirror and low and behold it looks exactly the same as it did before i went.So my husband calls up to try and get them to call me in something for pain and they have the nerve to tell him they called me in motrin! These people are decriminatory against people with Medi-cal!
I will Never go there again and will be pursuing legal action!

Western Dental Services awful company

I needed dentures right away. They escepted payments. What a mistake. I made 2 trips there after they made my dentures because they never fit right. Well they still didn't fit. I had another dentist fix them. The price was $800.00 for my dentures, my total bill was aprrox. $1, 500.00. I received retro medical. I sent them my medical card & letter of retro date. It took them 3-4 months to turn it in to medical. But they never did turn in for my dentures. Just for pulling my teeth. They won't turn it in to medical, they say dentures have to be pre-approved. Medical has told me, that is not for them to decide. Mean while, now they have raised the price of my dentures to $1, 829.00. My dentures cracked after 6 months. I never dropped them. I called them, they want $165.00 to fix them. They start pulling your teeth before your mouth is even numb. They call me about twice a week to harass me about my bill. They say my contract is viod, but then they expect me to make the contract payments. All the payments I am making they are using as late fees. Because I do not make the contract payment. I wouldn't advise any one to go there.

OMG! I am beyond FURIOUS with in incompetency of the entire Western Dental experience! Over-booking patients, hour wait when given an appointment, hacking away at my 13 years olds gums with braces, she cried in agony and bleeding while then continued to carve away in her mouth. They said her orthodontist (also Western Dental) placed her braces in wrong position so they had no choice but to dig around them deep into the gums. I was horrified how cruel they were! And then the nightmare with their horrendous orthodontic treatment and crooked contract BS. (I will fill in the details shortly, thanks).

The staff is rude. Always call to tell you that they need to change your appt. but when you have something come up, they want to charge you $35 to change times, not just dates. They don't have many appt. days to choose from and expect you to bend and come in when it is convenient for them, not you. Orthos don't have a clue what they are doing. May not have same doc each time and each wants to do something totally different. No where to sit in waiting room either. Wait time is 1-2 hours. You feel like you have entered another country because rarely will you here English spoken. About 6 patients lined up side by side in chairs and Doc moves from patient to patient without washing hands, just changing gloves. (Not a replacement for washing hands). Don't be fooled by price either. Will nicket and dime you to death. Go to reputable Ortho and pay a little more. I don't think my child's teeth have moved at all. Her regular dentist knew more of what to do than what has been done here at Western Dental.

I totally agree. I had horrible service in the Folsom, CA location. There wasn't any waiting, but the service was awful. During my first appointment I was in the chair for over 3 1/2 hours. I was almost choked by cotton roll falling in back of my throat which neither doctor or assistant noticed. I had to pull it out myself. I was treated as if it was my fault the appointment was taking so long... it was after work hours. My mouth was no longer numb during the end of the treatment, but I just wanted to get out. I was in tears! I had more than three assistants that kept switching out as some were going home for the day. At one point, it was just me and the dentist with her rushing to get done and a suction just sitting in my mouth.

I also went back for a teeth whitening and was burned horribly. My front gums will probably never be the same. I thought I'd be able to smile more after the whitening, but that is not the case. The gums on my front teeth have receded and no longer follow the shape of my front teeth. It's aweful!

I was charegd for things that I don't even think I needed and the work was bad. I'll NEVER use them again to try and save a few $$. I really don't think I did save money as my normal dentist would have probably charged the same AND his work is fabulous. It's just been tough finacially, so I thought I'd take a chance. Bad move on my part!

Not only was the service bad, but now I'm being asked to pay more money when I actually made my last payment in the office. I'm even being charged a late fee! I have send an email complaint, but let's see if something arrises out of it.
