I was a member of Work Out World in Waltham
I was a member of Work Out World in Waltham. They closed down in December and moved the gym to a new location. I had some trouble with them before when they tried to cancel my wife's membership, which took about 6 months to resolve. So, when I decided to cancel my membership, I knew what to do. I sent them a letter over a month ago telling them that I was no longer going to be a member because of their move, and to stop charging my credit card for the monthly fee. I also told them not to charge me any yearly membership fees. But, when I got my statement from Discover, I saw that they charged me a yearly fee of $43.49 and a monthly fee of $9.45. I tried calling them, but no one answered the phone. That's why I'm writing this review. I had to call Discover and cancel any future charges, and try to get my money back for the two charges they made. I usually trust people and take them at their word, so I didn't register the letter. Looking back, that was a mistake because I can see now that they probably never got it. Shame on them.
We've tried to cancel our membership several times with W
We've tried to cancel our membership several times with W.O.W. as we've moved from the area. We spoke with *** (who manages the charges) and they advised us to write WOW and the Waltham gym directly, which we have done several times without success and since May 22. WOW is not responding to our cancelation request and is continuing to try and charge us fees.

I have been trying to cancel my WOW membership for several weeks and have not been allowed to do so
I have been trying to cancel my WOW membership for several weeks and have not been allowed to do so. They allege that I have an unpaid balance from 2015 which I am willing to settle but neither their online system nor any individual at the facility will accept the payment and cancel the membership. As a result, they continue to bill me monthly and restart the clock for 30 days notice for cancellation. It is a continuous runaround that I no longer have patience for. I simply want to cancel.

Over a month ago, I went to Work out World in Waltham MA to cancel two memberships
Over a month ago, I went to Work out World in Waltham MA to cancel two memberships. I was told to do so online. I was able to cancel my own membership electronically, but the web site would not accept the cancellation of the second membership. I wrote to WOW to describe the situation but received no response. I have just received my charge card statement, which shows several charges to WOW: on 8/30 for $11, on 9/15 for 49.99, and on 9/17 for $11. The account which I was not allowed to cancel is in the name of my son, *** and the membership # is ***.

I have been trying to cancel my Work Out World gym membership and after emailing the gym's manager that I wanted to cancel my membership
I have been trying to cancel my Work Out World gym membership and after emailing the gym's manager that I wanted to cancel my membership immediately, she took days to respond, stated that she would "help find another gym" closer to where I live. I have been unable to find where I can cancel my membership and there have been differing reports about how to do so such as having to physically mail in a letter asking to cancel the membership and then wait until it is processed and then contact financial services with a confirmation of cancelation provided by the gym. I have seen multiple reports of the gym giving their customers a run around on how to cancel memberships and I do not want to continue paying for this gym while the manager continues to disregard my wishes to cancel.

I had sent an email to cancel my membership on March 23 & March 26
I had sent an email to cancel my membership on March 23 & March 26. I received an email on April 13 stating my cancellation would be processed once the offices re-opened. Well I was hit with a collection notice on October 8th stating that I owed money but yet no one called, emailed or sent any letters in regards to the balance. After receiving the email about the cancellation, how would I have known I had a balance when no one contacts me? Instead I am sent to collections which will negatively impact my credit for the next 7 years. I of course paid the balance right after receiving the letter but sending me straight to collections with no communication in regards to my account is immoral. If I had been called, emailed or had a letter sent I would have addressed this immediately, but no instead I received a letter from collections.

In March due to covid, our gym closed, at the time we did not know how long or what to expect
In March due to covid, our gym closed, at the time we did not know how long or what to expect. At the end of May realizing this was going to continue, and having minor health issues, we decided we were going to cancel our membership. I tried to contact the gym, but they were still closed, since *** takes the funds from my account, I contacted, them. At the time, they informed me that no funds would be remove from my account, but if I still wanted to cancel there was nothing they could do over the phone, and I needed to do it in writing. I sent them an email with the information, on June 27 they responded that the email needed to go to wow customer care. I did this, and received an immediate response that all accounts would be in a "freeze" state until each respective gym opened. On July 22, our account was charge for the gym memberships. I contacted the gym, and *** again, and was told it would take 60 days if I wanted to cancel my account.

During the Pandemic and shut down, members were not billed for their memberships
During the Pandemic and shut down, members were not billed for their memberships. During that time (in April) my Debit card renewed. I received notification that for my $19.99 per month membership because the card declined (I hadn't thought to send a renewal) was now $29.49. I reached out via e-mail because the number listed on the website wasn't accepting calls. I was told the extra $10 was late fees (50% seems high) but that they would remove the late fees. I requested that the membership be cancelled because I am concerned about an indoor gym, and was told I would then owe the next month dues too, but I could freeze my membership and pay the 19.99 for the month that was billed and not paid. I accepted this, and authorized a 19.99 charge. I then noticed that my debit card had been charged for 29:49, the original amount without the late fees removed AND for the 19.99 I had authorized. Multiple e-mails have ensued where they told me the only charge was 19.99. I have the bank statements to prove this. I requested the e-mail be forwarded to a manager and I have not heard back. So at the moment, I've not been able to cancel my membership (although they DID freeze it) and I have been charged just shy of $50.00 for the month of August, which due to Covid I did not even expect to pay, I had no communication as to when they would resume dues which had not been withdrawn during closure.

I was trying to cancel my membership since March
I was trying to cancel my membership since March. Trying to get a hold of someone from the Gym during the months of March through June was impossible. Finally I got to spoke with someone from one of the phone numbers which they told me they are the ***. However, the lady told me that she couldn't help to cancel my membership. I couldn't reach anyone that can do the cancellation. At July 25 my credit card was charged for $20.99, I found out the gym was reopened. I called to the gym, explained that I already try to cancelled my membership since march, the person who picked up the call told me that I have to submit my membership cancellation in writing . I send email to ***. and *** at July27. Finally, I got in touch with ***, the gerneral manager, stating she forwarded my cancellation request to ***. However, I get a charge of $49.99 on my credit card at August15. *** explained that the $49.99 was for my annual membership fee, she claimed that she has forwarded my cancellation request to ***. After that, I'm still getting harassing phone calls from Work Out World, informing me that I still have outstanding fees (for the month of July, August, September and October) . I called and I spoke with a male that was very rude, and he told me that my account can't be cancelled until the outstanding fees has been paid. I've already communicated with ***, and I've relayed to her (in writing), that I wanted to cancel my membership. There should be no additional charges.

I wanted to cancel my membership in Feb and COVID happened
I wanted to cancel my membership in Feb and COVID happened. Once gym reopened I called to cancel membership. The staff member I spoke to told me to email WOW new England and tell them I wanted to cancel. I did this multiple times and didn't hear back. I called and spoke to someone that told me they now do cancellations differently. I was to log onto a website called *** and create an account and request to cancel. When I went to do this It was stated I had to give 30 day notice with another fee of 20.00 and a ratelock fee of 49.99. I called WOW and asked what that fee was and I was told it was something the financial department charges yearly. I paid this fee when I joined and again last Sept when my year anniversary came. I was told the fee cant be waived and I need to call ***. I called *** and was placed on hold while the representative could look into this charge. I was placed on hold for 25 minutes and finally hung up. I called back and asked the person on the phone if they could help me. She again put me on hold and came back to tell me the fee cant be waived because its a fee the gym charges to maintain equipment. I called WOW back and asked if I could speak to a manager because I am being told multiple different things. I was told she cant take phone calls and I could reach out to her via email. I reached out to her and she immediately got back to me and said I need to log onto ***. I responded and told her I understand and needed further assistance. I am unable to cancel on this site without approving the annual fee of 49.99. It is time sensitive and I dont want to pay another month. I called WOW to speak to her the following day and I was told by a staff member that she still istn taking calls and hasn't emailed me back because she has thousands of emails to respond to and I would have to just wait. I asked if the manager has hours where she is in the office and I could come by and talk to her. She replied she works from 8-5 and I could come and speak to her and her manager and hung up on me. I called back to get her name and no one would answer the call. I would normally have no problem paying a fee if I was staying the year but im not. I dont think its fair to charge people for something they are not taking part in. I am looking to hopefully resolve this. I dont have alot of money and 49.99 is alot of money to me.
