Awful and Sloppy
About 5 weeks ago, I called to get pricing and set up an appointment to have a Rhino Liner sprayed on my truck bed. I was quoted a price of 799 plus tax and was forced to pay IN ADVANCE for the service. I didn't like that idea but I did so anyway.
When I got to my appointment that Friday, I was met by a Joseph James who introduced himself as the Vice President of Outside Sales for Ziebart. I now assume he works for this franchise, but I can't be sure.
Joseph was INCREDIBLY rude and pushy, trying to sell me everything from undercoating to ceramic coating and becoming quite offended when I said no. He asked at least 4 more times.
I did agree to window Tint on my front windows and the top of my windshield. I paid 299.00 plus tax for this additional service.
When I left the shop, my windshield was FILTHY. It looked like it had been cleaned with an oily rag. Photo is attached. They also left a spray bottle and squeegee in the truck.
About 3 weeks later, I noticed that the tint on both windows was bubbling. I returned last Friday 10/25 and they re-tinted the windows.
This Wednesday I noticed that the driver's window was again bubbling. The bubbles were much smaller this time but were present. I called the shop and asked that they remove the tint and refund my money. The person I spoke with said "no problem" and set me up for today.
I got to the shop today and again was met by Joseph. He took my keys and got me started. All was well until...
I came back to pick up the truck when it was complete and was handed my keys and asked to sign a work order. When I asked about the refund, Joseph refused to refund my money. He said "I am not refunding that, it was a tiny bubble and we could've fixed it. We usually charge $25 to remove the tint but I'm not charging you." I expressed my disgust, and told Joseph that he WAS going to refund me, or I would just dispute all $1100 or so that I spent there with my bank. His response was to tell me that he has my signature on all of his paperwork and that they could've fixed the tint. It wasn't until I got agitated and the other customer waiting for his car said "I guess I shouldn't have come here" that Joseph decided he would refund PART of what I paid for the tint. He refunded me $200, which did not include the sales tax on what I paid. I'm sure the Dept. Of Revenue in PA would love to know that your company keeps the tax on refunds.
As he was issuing the refund to my card, Joseph made the comment that it was "just a small spot" and told me that I was "being overly picky to be honest."
I beg your pardon. I paid $300 for tint, had to come back twice for problems, and I am being "overly picky" because I want it done correctly.
Now that it's all said and done, I still have a messy windshield and there is still tiny glue left on my driver's side window.
The work of this shop is not only sloppy, but seems rushed.
I live an hour from this shop, about 40 miles. My truck gets about 15mpg, and I've made the round trip 3 times now. That's 18 gallons of gas at about $3.50 per gallon. I need to now go somewhere and have the rest of this glue removed, and I will need to clean my windshield.
Incidentally, I was diagnosed with cancer about 6 weeks ago and have been dealing with that, doctor's visits, and thought I would cheer myself up with some modifications to my truck. Instead I got extra stress and pushy sales tactics.
I ask...why would I spent $1800 on undercoating or $1500 on ceramic (which I had planned to do in the coming month or so) at an establishment that can't even tint a window properly, where the techs don't clean up after themselves, and when this is what I'm met with when there is a problem? It wouldn't make much sense, now would it.

Rust inhibitor & undercoating
08/10/23. To whom it may concern, I have been a Ziebart customer @ Lyell Ave. Rochester, NY. 14606 for over 20 years and I’ve had about enough with dishonesty. Ziebart has serviced at least 5 of my vehicles. In the past I’ve had questions on the products and up to this point, there has not been a reasonable customer satisfaction approach. It is always about what was there before the customer purchased the vehicle. Why, do you guys sell a new vehicle service product to a used car owner if its not suitable or appropriate for a used vehicle? If these application options and results were explained at the time of purchase, it can help the customer make the right decision, but this does not happen. In stead, the customer is taken to the sales office where they are overwhelmed with different pricey products that might happen to be on sale that month but not necessarily needed for that particular vehicle. I am very upset and disappointed because I have complained about the rust coming out on my 2013 traverse for the last 3 years and no one has taken the time to give me options. Every person has explained to me how rust was there all along but not visible. My response has been “Why and how can you sell me a Rust Inhibitor product that will not work? Why didn’t you do a proper inspection to make sure you are selling me a service that is needed? Ziebart could have sold me instead a solution that would have stopped the rust 3 years ago and applied a protective film to the lower part of my vehicle to protect against salt and stones. I found this out today when a young lady started to answer my questions and give me true solutions. I also asked about buffing out some surface marks since I had some kind of diamond finish protector that supposingly would protect the car paint and the answer was “it will cost extra”. I have paid thousands of dollars over the years and have earned the right to be heard and given a proper resolution. If not, I will send a copy of this complaint to the proper authorities that will defend my rights.

Desired outcome: Repair & repaint the rust spots on my car.
Window tinting and brow addition
Was sold a window tint 2 front windows and brow for front windshield and was told y them it is officially not legal in NY but the salesman convinced me I should have no problem with inspections as they typically sell these products to dozens of people daily and rarely have issues.
Well, I ended up going for my first NYS inspection on this vehicle 1 year later and was told immediately my inspection will not pass in NY so I had to have 2 windows tint and brow removed.
Desired outcome: refund for window tinting/brow addition and compensation for time and gas wasted going to get it removed and NYS inspection time/gas wasted going there then having to return again. I wasted at least 2-3 hours of my time and 1/4 tank of gas.
Over spray and dents on my new truck from Ziebart.
I went to RT4 ziebart in Cincinnati and they undercoated my new 2021 ram. When I droped it off Matt walked around it to see anything they would be at fault. I picked the truck up next day payed and drove home then noticed dents in my truck and overspray every where on my new truck. They had closed so I called next day and Matt said bring it down to look at it. He took one picture of the dents and none of overspray. I had to notify customer service and they said the dents is not there problem but offerd to remove overspray. I cant take it back there because of the amature way the work was done and dont care attitude. The dents will cost me over $600 to remove and overspray is still burning off my exhaust. Then I relized that there product is just oil and tar. I feel they ripped me off and destroyed my $56000 truck and ruin my value of it.
Desired outcome: Give back my money or pay for damage.

Rust proofing
For two years in a row now I have scheduled my annual maint at vestal ny ziebart and said I would be waiting for it. Both times, during winter, I was told I could not wait inside the waiting room, that I had to stand outside in the snow. When I did not want to, they pulled my car into the garage and backed it back out without doing anything to it. The year...

Warning! If you own a pick up truck and are considering going to Ziebart for the rust proofing program, make sure you understand that your warranty is void if you drive “off road”. Off road is defined as driving on dirt roads. Last fall, after purchasing a new Dodge Ram pick up truck, we decided to have the additional rust proofing done by Ziebart. We...

From the outset, Tim was very confrontational. We had been shopping around and comparing different rust protection services available. I had talked to several different Ziebart locations, Rust Check and several local body shops. After hearing all sides, after my personal research, and based on a few recommendations from body shops, we decided to go with Rust Check and had the service performed this morning, prior to going to Ziebart.
When Tim found out, he started with "Oh, they are still in business?" and proceeded to try to sell us on their rust protection services while downplaying Rust Check and claiming they are only spraying transmission fluid on my vehicle (which is a very serious accusation to make without proof). I informed him that I had already asked around and made my decision and he did not need to try to sell me this service, especially considering we had already had it done.
During the next 5 minutes, I proceeded to tell him at least 6 more times not to try to sell me something, that I did not want to discuss it, and point blank TOLD him STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. What did he do? He continued to try to tell me I was wrong, that he wasn't trying to sell me anything, he just wanted to "protect" me.
One of the times I told him to stop talking about it, I informed him when I had a remote starter put on by another Ziebart location, that location had already ruined their chances for my future business (they were too lazy to put a remote starter on the right way and said they needed to tape my 2nd key up under the dashboard in order to get it to work right. After I told them that was unacceptable, he made a big production about how they were going to have to work late to get it done, it wasn't fair, I was being unreasonable, etc. By the way, that location was: 8998 East Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46219 Phone: [protected]), and Tim was well on his way to losing my business as well.
It got to the point that he was making a scene in front of other customers and I finally just interrupted his current tirade, and asked him if he had all that he needed to install the remote starter. He said he did and then had the audacity to go into another sales pitch. I ended up just walking out on him.
Later the area Customer Service Manager called to discuss my experience. After a 10 minute conversation with them, it boiled down to "I'm sorry, but he was just doing his job". So, Ziebart's job now is to treat customers disrespectfully?
Then when you try to follow up with Ziebart corporate, they use the "they are a franchise and we are not responsible for their actions" to get out of any liability or concern for the consumer.
Let's just say, there will not be a third time, and unless you like being jerked around and treated like you don't know anything, I hope you can avoid this experience with this terrible company.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
There should be an investigation regarding Ziebart in Rochester NY. Unethical sales tactics and just plain lying to customers on a regular basis.
I've never had a problem with ziebart rust protection or remote start my only thing is that ford tail gates are know to rust in seams and they have a different out look to it than what i do it has to come from inside out if paint is blistering it tells me its coming from inside but they dont look at it that way. but if tail gate is all i have to worry about i can live with it. my question is why would you stand their and listen
The woman I spoke to - ANNA- was HORRIBLE. I went online to fill out their online survey for a $25.00 coupon off your next $100 service- which she wouldnt use becuase we have to reschedule our appointment - she said there were glass restocking fees and didnt charge us those, so the coupon wouldnt be used. She was very rude from the start - said a manager would call me, and no one ever did, so I doubt she passed along the message. And when I told her we would not be using her services anymore she was even more rude and her tone was awful. Never going back.
