Refuse to refund
I cancelled my wash membership in November 2022. We did not use the wash anytime after December 1, 2022, and no membership fee was charged.
Then on January 2, 2023, Zips charged me a monthly membership fee. When I called, they claimed I had "re-activated" my membership, which we had not. After several emails, they stated on January 12 they would "as a one-time courtesy" refund my fee, which take about 7 days to process.
On January 19 (7 days later) my account was again CHARGED, not debited, $20. When I emailed them again, the essentially denied doing that, apologized for not refunding yet, and that was it.
I have since received the first $20 refund, but am still out $20.
Desired outcome: Refund the second $20 taken from my account without permission
Poor customer service
Zips Carwash review
North Myrtle Beach Barefoot Landing, One star only because you can’t choose zero stars. The carwash itself is fine for the most part, despite the occasional non-working equipment. Customer service lacking in several areas. Being a customer for nearly 2 years, I let many things slide when they changed over to Zips. We had issues at every location with the chip reader. They eventually changed the strip, but there were still issues with entry at all locations. We resolved ourselves to the fact that we would have to toot our horn for an attendant to come to the entry gate every time to allow us entry. On November 1st we had pulled into the Barefoot location and after doing the usual waiting and reversing to try to get the reader to work, I tooted the horn for the attendant. I tooted several times within about a five-minute period, when I concluded that I would have to get out and locate the attendant. Luckily there was no other vehicle behind me, so I backed out and pulled in front of the office. I was greeted inside by a very rude and angry man who said “You need to come into the office and not sit there beeping your horn”. His rudeness shocked me and I told him he didn’t need to act like an [censored]. His rudeness increased, and I said that maybe I should just cancel my membership. At that point he demanded I follow him to the office to close my account. I was then told if I was not welcome there EVER and if I returned, he would call the police. I asked WHY? His answer was that I cursed him out (because I said “you don’t have to act like an [censored]”). Ok, maybe I shouldn’t have said that stupid little comment, but I really believe he was overreacting.
Fast forward, to my contacting the corporate office to lodge a complaint. I told the rep on the phone exactly what happened including MY comment to him. She was apologetic and sympathetic and said I would be contacted by management. I received an email the next day saying I would be contacted shortly. THREE weeks later I received a phone call from management. The resolution for them was an apology. He said he was sorry and the attendant and all staff would be informed this is not the way to treat a customer. That was then end of the call! I was more than surprised that I was not offered some kind of compensation for my humiliation and inconvenience after being a loyal customer for nearly two years. A free carwash, or free month, something that would convince me to come back as a customer. NOTHING. Suffice it to say, I am done with Zips Carwash. They need some lessons in Customer Service.
Desired outcome: Better treatment of customers.
Car wash
Yes never seen a car wash of zips so darn nasty. Garbage all around dumpster and around vacuums. Does no one work there. This is around 9am nobody else around. Needs to clean up. Plus this location on 9th ave doesn't even get truck even close to clean at all. The zips on woodbine is amazing they walk around vehicle and spray everything. Here they do nothing. Poor customer service. I have pics of trash if needed...

I have tried to use the car wash and it is out of order or my membership did not go through without going into the office. I have tried to cancel my membership and the site is asking to charge me $37 to complete the cancellation. I find this a poor customer service. The carwash is in Collegedale Tennessee. The Zips account number is [protected]. This has been going on for the last three months.
Desired outcome: I just want to cancel my membership. I will probably continue to use the carwash only on my terms.
Membership
I came in for a car wash December 4, 2022 and was met at the pay station by an employee who told me of a $10 special. He told me it was a 3 month promotion and at the end of the 3 months I could cancel and not be charged the $35 membership but just the $10 each month for 3 months.
The beginning of January I see that I am being charged $35 for the membership. I went to the Zips where I was told it was just a 1 month special and they couldn't refund my money but that I could call headquarters. Upon calling headquarters I was told it is a no refund policy regardless of what I was told. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told a manager would not be able to help me that they have this policy and it cannot be changed. So Zips has charged my card $35 without my approval and will not refund it. I will NEVER go to a Zips again.
Desired outcome: I want a refund for the unauthorized $35.
Employee laziness
I have a membership because I usually love these car washes. In general the employees do a good job spraying the car off going into the wash. The towels and cleaning products are available and the vaccumes are great but not in Marion NC... your lucky if you get a little spray off at all before the wash, then there MIGHT be towels and cleaning cloths available to wipe off what the wash didn't get after the useless pre-rinse, and you have to be even luckier still for the vacuum to not be stopped up and barely working. I'm considering canceling my membership because this is the closest to my home. It's ridiculous and getting worse! Please do something.
Desired outcome: Management needs to step up and make sure maintenance on the vacuums is done, towels are always available and his employees are actually doing something during the pre-wash besides barely wetting the car.
I agree 100% with the complaint about the Marion NC location. I live in Marion NC and the effort of the staff is pathetic. I went to the Forest City location, and I was very impressed. They actually pre-washed my entire vehicle as if they have experience with actually washing vehicles. It's like night and day. They really need to keep the same energy that they demonstrated when they were signing me up for my two memberships.

Carwash
I live in Myrtle Beach SC. I have been using the carwash at 2089 Hwy. 501 for approximately 10 years which had previously been Detrick's. They always did an outstanding job. I noticed approximately a year or so ago that the car wasn't coming out as clean and my billing changed from Detrick's to Zips. When Turbo Wash opened at 593 International Dr. I used it on occasion, but it was more expensive than Detrick's and didn't do as good a job, but I would use it from time to time. They also changed to Zips and on December 18th 2022 I went there for a carwash and was very dissatisfied with the outcome. I paid for the second most expensive wash and half the brushes didn't even activate. When I got home, I could see brush marks on the windows where the dirt hadn't been removed. The price of the carwashes has increased considerably, and the quality has gone down considerably. I understand that costs have gone up in the past few years but there is no excuse for the quality to deteriorate.
Desired outcome: I would like a credit for a wash so I can give them another chance.
Car Wash
The employee there today walked up to me and told me to make sure I pick up my trash before leaving when there was trash on the ground when we pulled up! This is so unprofessional and I have never had any employee ever say this to me in all the years I’ve gone to the car washes! Half of the equipment didn’t work. When I pulled up to the car wash the employee was sitting in his car instead of rinsing the cars off. This place is so unprofessional and were trying to sell me a membership! So glad I didn’t get stuck in that bc I will never come back to this business!
Desired outcome: Tell employees not to bother customers, be rude to them and insinuate that they are being trashy or unprofessional when they are the ones that are unprofessional! Fix the equipment that doesn’t work properly
Manager and staff
my daughter worked at the Zips in Dallas, GA the manager Bruce Holdsworth has come to work several times drunk and made sexual advances at my daughter on several occasions. He sent her inappropriate texts to her and other employees. He also buys underage children alcohol for sex as do the other older employees. I have not contacted the authorities, but I plan to soon. This is not a light matter to be dealt with...
Desired outcome: this investigated and dealt with appropriately
Damage to truck
I am and member of zips car wash till about a month ago I went thru and received damages to my truck I had just bought a month before just got my new decals on it for my lawn service and had it looking just as I wanted it till the miller town pike location site wash broke my antenna put a scratched down the side of it and poked a hole in my back fender. I reached out to the manager I went by there he took pictures of it said he filled out a claim sent it and I have been contacted only twice by email once for my phone number and then they said give them 72 hours well I have been patient for them for almost a month now I continue to contact the manager of the store as well as sending emails to the clams team I am not receiving nothing back from the claims team the manager keeps telling me he will find out what’s going I never get a update from him on it but then he tells me after a month that I need to go on zipscarwash.com to get my answers that I need why should I have to do that when they have my email they have all the information including my insurance that makes no sense to me when their car wash messed my truck up I still have not received anything back they’re trying to settle this dispute or anything
Desired outcome: I need my truck fixed for the damages
Car wash employee
I presented at Zip car wash on S. Kings highway in St. Louis, Mo. They were having issues with the pay machines. The lines were getting long so I went to the door which I assumed was the office and asked what the issue was that we're all waiting so long and it was not fair to the customers to sit here waiting until they figured out the problem. I was told they were having problems with the internet service and I had to wait. I suggested they just let the gate up and let us do what we came to do (those with membership). An employee called me a "[censored] [censored] mother [censored]er and went in and locked himself behind closed doors. I will not spend my money with a company that employs someone that has no respect for it's clients. My name is Tommie Davis [protected] account number [protected]. I have 2 accounts
Desired outcome: This site has been nothing but a headache since it was brought out by Zip. I want my membership canceled.
Website cancellation
I cancelled on the website, and they continued to have money taken from my bank account. When I called to find out why it was happening, they said it wasn't received and if I had the confirmation email, I told her that I don't keep emails that are 3 months old. She then tried to sell me a membership for $10.00 a month, I told her that all I wanted was to have my money refunded she said no. She said she would cancel my membership today and I won't refund my money. I told them to check to see that I haven't used the membership, they said that I could have. I will never use that company again and I will tell everyone not only in person but on Google and Yelp not to use them.
Desired outcome: To have my money that was taken out after I cancelled to be refunded to me, $60.00
Scratches all over my car
The ZIPS in St. Louis, off of meramac bottom, is terrible! I have scratches all over my car. Some areas are worse than others. Especially the hood. I have a brand new atlas, and I always hand dry my car and just washed it on 12/4 and was drying it and noticed so many bad scratches on the hood and the sides. The last few times I went, the brushes weren’t always working, and the mat cleaners were not working. The vacuums rarely work and are usually caked with gunk on the inside.
After seeing how badly my car was scratched, I went to cancel my membership and asked for the owner's information, and was going to file a damage claim. The workers also admitted the scratches were likely from them. They said that when a dirty car goes through, they don’t spin the brushes, and if they don’t get sprayed out, the dirt and gravel stay in them, likely causing the bad scratches. This is unacceptable! Especially when I bought a new car, and I see scratches all over it. I emailed the owner and have yet to hear back.
Desired outcome: I want the scratches fixed.
Vehicle Damage
July 22, 2022
12:00PM
My car received damage during my car wash. I went and got 2 insurance quotes to repair my car as instructed by the manager. The manager said that the corporate office would be reaching out to me, but they STILL haven't done so. I have returned on several occasions to get an update from the manager, and he has told me every time that he would reach out to corporate office and have them get in touch with me.
Desired outcome: I would like Zips to pay for the body damage on my car to get fixed.
Take a close look at why this happened and what kind of management is making claims decisions.
In August 2022 Zips Car Wash on Clemson BLVD in Anderson, SC did some minor damage to my car more than once. They filed an Incident Report with pictures and and responded by saying they say no damage. I have tried several ways to get this resolved by writing letters and talking to the local District Manager but they refuse to fix my problem. I found out...

I was in the car wash on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 12:11 PM. I was in the part where the giant brush was just coming up the hood of my car towards my windshield. that’s when I felt a jolt. It was like my car hit something but I wasn’t sure what was happening because I couldn’t see past the brush. My car continued to lunge forward and then was stopped. This happened about four times. I wasn’t sure if my car was hitting something or if the mechanism that takes my car through the car wash was stuck.
I began to lay on my horn to notify your team members that there was an issue. they turned off the car wash and they’re in front of me was a jeep with a hitch.
The driver of the jeep told me that her jeep stopped moving forward and she couldn’t figure out why it was stuck.
Eventually they got us out.
I got a call today saying that you won’t cover the cost to repair the damages to my car. And when I asked to see the video of it, I was refused access.
Desired outcome: I’m asking that you pay to get my car fixed.
Poor quality car wash
On 11/2/22 at 4:56 PM I stopped by the Zips Car Wash on Old Muegge. I returned less than 24 hrs later and told the lady on duty that the wash didn't remove half of the dirt on the back lift gate. She said there was nothing they could do. I am surprised your services are not backed by a satisfaction guarantee. Following are the numbers from my receipt.
CTN 638046; WC 47817; AS1002
Desired outcome: Please refund, or offer a free wash. I would appreciate a response.
Car wash membership
6/28/22 charged my ccard for 3 months t-mobile deal for 3 months of car wash for $20.
9/28/22 charged my ccard for $35 for the next month of service at normal rate. The initial t-mobile deal was over... Ok so I forgot to cancel before the 3 mos. Was up, so on the day they charged me for the next month of service I called and logged in to their website to complain and cancel the account.
9/28/22 I called zips and then logged in online and created my account at zipscarwash.com and tried to cancel my account. I received a email response from zips asking my account information - which I had input to your site in the first place, so I don't know why that was needed since I initiated the cancel request from your website on a ticket form. From my account that I created with all the information they were asking in the email they sent to me to confirm this same information.
10/28/22 zips charges my ccard again $35 after I had cancelled the previous month 9/28/22 one month to be exact... Now going through the same process that I thought was resolved a month previously. And now they are saying the account is cancelled. 10/31/22. My question is is my ccard going to get charged again one month from now on 11/28? And they should refund the charge on 10/28/22 after I had cancelled.
Desired outcome: - refund the charged amount $35 they charge me on 10/28/2022- cancel my account and never charge me again
Efficiency
I have been a member ever since you opened in Walterboro sc and I have said things in the past about the car wash not completely washing the car or suv we have. The car wash always misses the passenger side rear quarter panel and corner of the bumper when we go through. This has to be a problem you know about and I don't plan on changing my service with you but this seems like a problem that by just adjusting the movement of the brushes it would correct the problem.
