over charges & theft
this company is a total rip-off and prays on lonely singles bank accounts.
I signed up for a 3 month membership with this company for a charge of 39.95 --- they charged me 69.94 and I have tried to contact them about this and their phone number is a joke and their e-mail ( customer service ) is a joke also. when I did finally get a responds from them ( after threating them withh BBB inquiry and bank dispute fillings ) they said that the extra 29.95 was a one time membership fee --- and on their site it does not say anything about a additional 29.95 fee on top of the 3 month membership ( NO WHERE ! ), and when you complain to them about this they just put a filter on your account so that you no longer can send or receive messages - leaving the account totally useless and them holding ALL your money. My bank says that they can't do anything about this and I am just hoping that the BBB can do something to help me, , , what a headache ! --- do not sign up with these people --- they are crooks. what makes this even more messed up is that back in January ( of this year ) I had signed up for a one month membership and I was only charged the 19.95 - nothing else ( no 29.95 fee ). so along with my complaint and all the others, believe what you read, , Zoosk is a SCAM --- if you would like to read more about this complaint ( full version -- go to http://zooskscam.webs.com/ ). this company pilfers money from lonely singles all over the world --- don't let yourself fall victim to their Catch-22 legal loop-hole, , they are ### and need to be stopped ---- AND they are not the only dating site out there practicing this fraud. WATCH OUT ! do your homework before giving out your debit/credit card info.

false advertising - not free site
I had just deleted my profile on Plenty of Fish dating site when I was re-directed to join a new one called Zoosk. They said it was free so I set up my profile. I soon found out that I could not send messages or read any sent to me without subscribing. I've tried to e-mail them to ask about it, but because I'm not a subscriber they say they don't have the staff to deal with everyone's comments. Catch 22. So basically, I was stuck. I found it very frustrating as I found someone I really wanted to connect with and I couldn't unless I paid up. I would never use Zoosk again. Their advertising is false and I'm annoyed with Plenty of Fish that they put me on to them. Now I get bombarded with promotional e-mails from them. I don't believe that they have so many millions of subscribers as they say. They should be taken down!
I absolutely agree. I just wasted an hour of my life setting up an account, writing my "story, " blah, blah. Someone winked me and sent me a message right away. Really? At 2:30 in the morning? That's when I found out that I can't actually read his message until I pay. Really? It's free to set up an account and browse profiles. Well, what good is that? I agree that's false advertising to say the site is free. I may have paid to use the site, if that's the mindset I was in going into it. To be tricked or "forced" into paying is beyond the pale. Zoosk is on my list of places to avoid and to spread the word on.
dumbest dating site ever
This is the worst dating site ever. They tell you their services are free, but once you sign up you have to subscribe in order to send and read messages being sent to you. That is so not fair everyone should cancel their membership and find another dating site that's 100% free and tell everyone about it, because Zoosk flat out SUCKS!

agree 100% zoosk is scams
The WORST site on the internet.
Total RIP OFF!
I hope people start *Getting It* and get the hell away from ZOOSK. A F***ING TOTAL Rip Off!

cannot sign up for one month only - bad link
Hi! I think Zoosk is a total scam! I tried to sign up for just one month b/c I wanted to respond to someone who "winked" at me, who then sent me an email. When I tried to respond, I was told to unlock the message, I needed to subscribe. Not being a strong believer in online dating, I opted for the lowest option -- 1 month for 29.95. Upon entering my credit...
Read full review of Zoosk and 4 commentsromance fraud
I fell victum of internet romance with an alleged Captain Nicholas Blackburn (Buckus) [protected]@yahoo.com, this person portayed himself to be a "Captain" being lonely and wanting to find someone before he retired from the Military. Everything played out just right, he said the right words and came on line just at the right time to where he made be believe that he wanted to be with me and come to marry me, and that if i would send him a plane ticket, food money, hotel stay in Cairo, Egypt because the Military was gong into Terrorist Mode and that he couldnt fly out until 4 days and that the Military doesnt have excess to their bank accounts until they get back to the States. Then all hell broke loose. However, thousands of dollars were sent to Egypt. And that Generals were involved ([protected]@aol.com and General David Petraeus)
SO BUYER BEWARE OF THESE FOOLS...once a "fool" second time a "### up".
This sounds like a carbon copy of my experience with the same guy.
Was this around sept/oct 2010?
There are way more people involved then just the ones listed!
Hope you are well and enjoying life again.
I'm furthering investigation of this.
zoosk scam - redhotpie.com.au style baiting tactics
Zoosk scam? sure is some elements of an online dating scam here by dating website http://www.zoosk.com - I joined as a free member of zoosk.com and there have been a number of situations that raised questions as to whether this company zoosk is duping Free subscribers into upgrading to a paid membership. Currently free members cannot receive messages or if they are are locked after 1 or 2 messages. Cell phone numbers and emails are automatically censored and so are advertisements if you place any references in the ad to contact you indirectly. Zoosk was reportedly turning over 20 million in Revenue this year.
From my experience as a user on Zoosk I feel they are using REDHOTPIE baiting tactics. To find out about the Australian consumer complaints court case about online dating site RHP http://www.redhotpie.com.au go to : http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/online-dating-agency-created-fake-profiles-20091106-i1i3.html
EXAMPLE 1: I get a message from a girl in my local area on zoosk. the next day after not replying she has moved 2, 000 kilomters away! .. some days later i check she is overseas! some have moved from one side of Australia to the other side then over to the US and UK.
Example 2: Profiles message but never provide or fail to answer questions and give any contact details even emails hence getting you to reply in your zoosk messenger (requiring joining).
No matter even if i BOLD the request .. please give me your phone number as i cant reply in zoosk here.. WHERE ARE YOU? in xxxx city? this is my email .. please email me directly etc .. I never get any replies .. they (the respondee) keeps going through the zoosk messaging panel and the message is hidden (given its locked).
Example 3: Nigerian scammers work on zoosk.com .. The girls that have responded to my email have come from scam artists. I have cross checked the emails and there are lists of email checking sites to work out previious peoples experiences with Nigerian scam artists.
Example 4: Zoosk doesnt allow searching by time the person last came onto the site. Sure.. the site says "Recently online" on the persons profile but search functions as a user in Zoosk.com are extremely limited. Therefore old listings are mixed in with new singles profile listings. Therefore, I could be replying to a whole bunch of OLD LISTINGS that are a year old .. the system doesnt tell me.
This is a gross waste of time and for a firm that reportedly turns over $20 million in revenue per year http://www.onlinepersonalswatch.com/news/2010/03/easydate-expects-20-million-revenue-this-year.html this is a complete joke.
As a free user of zoosk, im surprised what quite active use of my free account that i have managed to figure out that there are some strange things happening that zoosk is getting me to upgrade to a paid membership. Even at the top rate they charge in membership you have google ads and it annoys me they are skimming you left right and centre and using "Red Hot Pie" black hat baiting tactics to get you to upgrade.
Sure, some ###s might argue that they are in business to make money but remember .. you are playing with what could be vulnerable people, peoples feelings and people who are fed up with scam dating websites. There are better ways to make money from people than using black hat RHP tatics and BLATANTLY undertaking exercises that amount to fraud, lies and deception.
If zoosk turned over what they turned over in revenue, im sure they would be highly protective of their credibility and see that there are certain things happening as outlined above eg. people whos profiles sound too good to be true, that change constantly etc .. but me thinks that they are just another Red Hot Pie outfit .. baiting people with bait ads and getting singles to upgrade to a paid membership.
guys how does this relate to what i posted

zoosk is a scam site - you r right the just run you alone and in the end come the money trick - "I had too go O/S to get my stuff having trouble need $900 to get me out of hear back into your arms darling in Australia". The rest of the stuff you said is true to the letter
yes my comment is i am a memeber here since last wk. just now i have access iwht frinds and suddenly its blocked again what the hill is going on? bcoz of my picture conot apload picture here coz im using my cousin computer. then nowww... you said used my facebook photo but i cant still not get it. im upset so much i want to cancelle my subscription and return my money back as soon as posseble. that is $54 bcoz its useless doing this for nothing. peast me off. i want you to return my money back to my account.
account charged for a year, then cancelled without permission
I had signed up for a month subscription, but Zoosk took out a full year subscription from my account. Then, all of a sudden, they cancelled my subscription, leaving me with nearly no money in my account, because I could not afford to spend the $119.98 year subscription amount. So now I'm out of money, and they took it. Attached you'll find a screen shot of my account that has proof of the amount that they took out, how much I have left in my account afterward.

i am disappointed you don't have email contact so have taken the liberty of contacting you through here i wright to complain that i feel miss led by your site given the sending free winks resulted in lots of replays which unless i joined where hidden on joining i find that the replays are auto reply's so there for i was miss led thinking lots of people where interested in replying to me when really there where not i want a full refund or i will take the matter to a tribunal and ombudsman

call your bank and tell them you only authorized the original amount. they will work with you on fixing it and getting your money back.
Good luck with that class action, Ben. Also, WTF is up with trying to buy a date? Try deodorant, mouthwash, clean clothes, and an English course.

I want to delete my acct with this company
Same here! All of a sudden I started getting these emails from them, so I opened it up and started reading it was for some stupid dating site and I am far from looking for a damn date I'm happily married for gods sake! Thinking to myself why in the fricken world would anyone pay an online site to meet someone, but reading all the complaints on this company seems a lot of people apparently do that. Besides the point that they have my info and somehow I believe FACEBOOK is behind all of it since they do sell your information to third party companies.
no free service
I was not able to reply to anyone interested in me. I had to pick a payment option first. There was nothing free about this site. I found the payment page to be obscure. There were no total amounts for picking the 3 month; all I saw was 19.99 for three months so I picked that option. Then I received a call from my banks fraud department asking me if 58.95 was a valid charge. I was surprised but then figured out my error. I asked Zoosk to credit back my account and their response was to, 'enjoy my subscription." Then I find out they actually charged my account 60.33! I am now in the process of filing a dispute. Even after I asked them why would they want a customer who had made a mistake; I deleted all personal information...was the money that important to them?!
I was using Zoosk messemger and my idenity was stolen, by queenlaila@ahoo.com, do not answer her or go to her website she has several names she uses. The other one is jamila43 I have reported it. So please check your credit cards.
fraudulently obtained money from me
Charge showed up on my paypal. I did not authorize it. Contacted their support, told them of the situation. They said they would cancel and refund my money. This was three weeks ago. So far:

HOWEVER, the money has never been refunded to me. I believe they are a company simply stealing identities and monies through a dating scam website that is linked very closely with facebook, who has been in the news recently for their absolute lack of concern for the privacy of THEIR members.
I strongly warn ANYONE against even clicking on links on facebook that have this in them, because through this they obtained personal information and used it to steal money from me. I am in the process of retaining legal counsel and have contacted the state attorney general's office in my state as well as the better business bureau. This is a HUGE fraud and rip-off.
Have you been cheated by a compan or con artist ? Fight back hard to recover funds lost to scammers or any scam related activity. I'll put you through to the ethical hackers that helped me katiecor44 (at) gmail (dot). It's one word gmail account trying to avoid spamming at the same time I feel obliged to expose these scammers
Somebody need to find the Zoosh scam artist and wack them. I wonder why the authority are doing anything to throw the dirty dogs in jail. They are just robbing people blindly. I`m done with all the dating site, I will go back to the bars scene. I used to get lucky at bars than this fraudulent dating sites.
Greetings,
Cann your bank's customer fraud protection unit. Some banks will cover you up to 100% of any unauthorized charges against your card. Advise the fraud analyst of the situation. They will need to close your Visa debit card to stop the reaccuring gharges. Then they will transfer you over to claims to get your money back. I have an account with Bank of America, and the whole process was hassle free. Hope this helps!
I was taken also by these people and I want to know what is the process for resolving this issue. Any suggestions would help. marcellacarter@hotmail.com
i agree they are big ripp offs they chared me 2 times for 6 months and thiers no contact phone number
thanks but that number doesnt work. i needed a breathing body!
i just checked my bank account the smorning. there was a charge for $82 that was not suppose to be charged for zoosk dating. i, m married and me or my husband have NEVER signed up for this site. they need to be shut down. i tried contacting them and reporting it but had no number known ever for customer support. it has not only stole money from us but caused issues for our marriage for a "dating" site to show up our bank statement! zoosk- burn in hell.! i will get to the bottom of this. if any one has a number for them please post so others can contact them.
Same thing with me I signed up for one month they keep charging me! Now they just keep showing up all over my computer and wont stop charging me I have unsubscribed atleast 10 times!
Zoosk charges also appeared on my debit card. I've never signed up or had any privious contact with Zoosk. Card has been cancelled. Zoosk, go to jail. Match.com did the same thing in the same time frame. I fear they have planted spy software. I believe I need to cancel all of my cards and desatroy my conputer. Zoosk.. eat dirt.
I agree, I wish I would have seen this yesterday because I just signed up for a month of Zoosk and I got two charges on my credit card yesterday, one for Zoosk dating in the US and the other from Zoosk EXCORT service in LONDON. The thing that bothers me is there is not even a phone number to contact this place!
invasion of privacy
I have had the app for about a year through myspace. I use it infrequently and prefer to make contact on my own rather than having a picture up. I've looked at my own profile through the 'my profile' link to check spelling etc and the picture there was the generic 'no picture'.
What they DON'T tell you when you sign up through either myspace or facebook is that they USE your picture from that site as a default picture. Your profile will look to you as not having a picture but to everyone else it's your other site picture. I only found out about this when someone teased me about being on the site as they saw my picture there and when I went to the 'help' section they tell you there.
I simply couldn't believe they did that; I thought I was misreading it. So i made a different profile in order to have my original one show up in the new profile's search results (yes, that's kind of cheesy) and low and behold, there's my myspace picture. I really think that most people are unaware that as a standard zoosk does this. I read the terms of use/service pretty carefully when I sign up some where and did so with the new temporary profile I made today...there's not a thing in there about them automatically using the profile picture of the originating site. They're pretty lucky they've never been sued. Needless to say I uploaded a generic picture while deciding how I want to handle this.
somebody sent me a message on zoosk using my real name! nobody is suppose to be able to access your personal information, surely these sites should have some sort of watchdog!
I have NEVER signed up for this zoosk load of crap!
can't read or send emails
I think it's completely ###ed that you go through the trouble of creating a whole profile under the pretenses that you're under a free membership to talk with people. Then you can't send or receive emails from people who try to contact you or visa-versa without subscribing. It's frustrating when an attractive individual tries to communicate with you and you can't respond with anything but an unimpressive "wink" because you don't have the membership you have to pay for. Then you lose your chance. What a rip!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
dont go with zoosk. every so often i get this hot girl that wants to know more about me. but when i write to her she is slow to respond and kinda air headed about everything. ive had two girls come to me on that site in the last two weeks. but seem really fishy and something doesnt seem right. funny thing is that after they contact me, the next day they are no longer a zoosk member. and thats after i exchange emails with them. i have written to over 50 girls ugly and cute, normal appropriate questions and not a single response. just those bots or who ever it is behind that computer. i had better experience with match.com but still no results.
Perhaps it was your profile. I am on Zoosk (since last week) and have already had two delightful real dates and plenty of Gentlemen that are interested. I have noted a lot of men don't put much effort in their profile: horrible fuzzy pictures taken in the worst spaces (public restrooms? really) and / or with female arms draped around them, no effort put into their "story" or anything else and / or terrible grammar and spelling, etc. ... I won't even talk to these ... If you don't care to put your best foot forward and show that finding someone is worth the effort, why should I waste my time on you?
I often wonder why you have to pay to communicate on Zoosk when you can email anybody for free on Facebook. This is how it works. I had to play with it a little to find out why I could read some of the messages on Zoosk and others I couldn't. It seems like you get one shot to communicate with a member as an unpaid member. If you answer someones icebreaker or send them your "one free shot" message, don't try to answer another icebreaker or try to send another message. If you do, it will lock your communication and also lock the message so that you can't read it. So, unfortunately, I couldn't read the one I really wanted to read since I learned that after the fact.
unauthorized withdrawal form account
I joined zoosk under a free trial membership. I couldn't send or receive e - mails. I had to buy zoosk coins to be able to send any messages. After fianally spending $29. 95 for the free membership and $9. 99 for coins i was finally ready to chat with some men. After having the membership for only 1 1 / 2 weeks i decided i didn't like the site, and of...

I received two unauthorized charges of $42.65 a piece for this so called online dating service. I don't belong to these people and I have no idea how they got my credit card info. There is no phone number on the site just an email page.. I blocked my card but they better damn well reimburse me.
I just had a charge, and then a couple of days later, a credit from zoosk. Now I also have a charge and a credit from match.com. Where the heck did the get my card information from? Looks like I'll have to cancel both of our cards. What a pain in the backside!
I also was fraudulently charged two times by Zoosk.com. I blocked my credit card and got a new number. After going through all that, I noticed that zoosk had credited my card the same amounts it had charged. I only want to know how they got my card number. I have never been to this site except to see who they were after the fraudulent billing. What is going on here? Does anyone know? Why has zoosk not come out with a statement?

Read full review of Zoosk and 1 commentcancel link not working
I have discovered that while being a financial member of zoosk.com, an online dating company that I cannot cancel my membership.I have read all there instructions but find the links just dont work.I did read in the small print that they just rebill paid members untill you decide not to be a member. There Help centre states go into Settings at top of page then you will see a window with a Subscription link, click that & in that page will be a Add Credit Card or Cancel Membership link. There is but the Cancel link just doesnt work.Zoosk then claim to go to the settings page again & find the Account link, click this to close account & delete profile. This you cannot do as it reads - To delete your account you Must first cancel your membership.
I have 3 copies of email messages sent to zoosk via there contact link with again, No Responce what so ever.
I have also posted 3 responses via there technical Questions Forum & have recieved personal email notofication that they have been sent but still as of today there is no posting of my pleas for help in canceling my membership.I read a statment written by 1 of zoosk.com moderators that clearly states she check technical issues every evening & would reply if there was not an answer in there Q&A section. This now I no is a total round about, 1 just goes around in circles and it seems cannot get out.
I would really appreciate any help here in this matter as its getting me very upset & nervous.

I wish to advise all - Finally after threatening Police action zoosk has now replyed & cancelled my account - hoorray! Never Again!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I’ve had the exact same problem with this dating site (and one other). They make it impossible to unsubscribe, which is a greedy cash grab. Don’t bother messing around; the ONLY solution is to cut them off at the source... CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD.
Twice, I’ve been forced to report my card as “stolen”, which is essentially what happens with dodgy sites like Zoosk: they are stealing money from us by making it super-difficult to unsubscribe. In my situation, the mobile Zoosk app (and website version) tells me to unsubscribe through iTunes, but there’s NO button for that (see photo)!
A way to get instant response from ZOOSK customer support!
Signed up for free account. Discovered I was getting way to many emails a day, pushing me to pay money, pay money, pay money. I tried to stop the emails by using the unsubscribe listed at end of incoming emails. Nothing worked. I started looking for contact info on site. Nada. Finally I searched online for contact info to remove my account. Couldn't locate anyway to contact the people who run this site. Saw lots of complaints about this dating service. Thought thank goodness I didn't give them my cc info. This could have been so much worse. Still I was annoyed that I couldn't get anyone to remove my profile nor was there an easy to remove profile button anywhere to be found nor get anyone to even acknowledge me.
So I figured I could at least have some free fun marketing of my annoyance. I was laughing creating this fictitional person. I changed my name on the site to "SiteEatsManure". The in my story 'about me' I listed my travails in trying to get removed. In the 'ideal first date' I listed :'sitting in court as judge handed down millions in awards for damages in the class action suit brought against Zoosk for being unable to stop the harassment'. I then posted my favorite picture of Sophia Loren. Complete with subtitle including her name and the credits to Getty Library.
To my total amazement within 30 minutes site came back approving my name. A friend who had listened to me complain about the problem thought my writeup hysterical. I figured one might as well have fun. Low and behold within a couple hours my sitename was disapproved. The following morning there were emails stating that "your updates were declined for not following Zoosk's guidelines"
really! I cannot imagine why not. LMAO. Finally I got another email from Zoosk, low and behold a customer support person actually wrote back! which read we have removed your profile as requested. Hummmmm. I HAD NO WAY TO CONTACT ANYONE FOR HELP REMOVING MY ACCOUNT! The entire funny (ok obnoxious) skit was manufactured to make it possible to laugh over these clowns. I wasn't expecting to actually be able to get the attention of anyone at the site! Much less have a customer support person contact me via email.
At any rate. For those of you who haven't been able to get a word in edgewise to a company that refuses any sort of email contact try the way I did. At least creative answers to dating questions apparently gets their attention.
Who the heck thinks up a paid dating site that disables any sort of email contact with any sort of customer support? I guess they are losing money and cannot afford customer support. Plus the suggested dates were disasters and many setup pics of same very attractive men from other sites using same pictures of men doing things I said I enjoyed! What rubbish!
Yes it is a scam i got a 7 page word document to prove it (screen prints) it advertises loads of singles in your area, you wink at them, they reply, which you cannot read unless you pay up, you have to pay up to see what they reply/say, guess what 6 yes six of them replied with exact same reply, (now if you are really interested, friend me and message me) another 3 of them different reply but again all 3 same reply (thanks for hitting me up, now tell me more) oh what a coincidence, not one and i mean one of them were real- carried on chatting or could be contacted again, its a scam, get down your local, rather waste 20 quid on beer than this terrible site they should be ashamed of themselves, recent single i need companions not to be ripped off!
I had not gone over my account ^ when I did this Zoosk has CHEATED me out of over 300.dollars!They are free to ck I have not been on there sight for at least 8 months they can look that up but they say they cant do that. They are doing nothing but steal from people.I qill be going to my bank!
I want to stop my zoosk account and stop sending me emails
I JOINED ZOOSK TO FIND A DATE WHEN I FOUND SOME ONE THEY SAY I HALF TO BYE COINS TO TALK
Hoorible customer service Many of its functions do not work.
Receiving extra charges from Zoosk. Signed up for one month. Being billed for more
2014 UPDATE:
I had the same problem with zoosk posted above - the website just would NOT let me unsubscribe or deactivate my account. So I called them up the next day and told them I wanted to deactivate my account. The worker will kindly help you do that, however they are sneaky about it. MAKE sure you log out and then log back in to check whether your account is actually deactivated or not. When I did it, I realized it wasn't deactivated. What they did was unsubscribe me. That way, if you go back into account>>settings>>deactivate, you can now deactivate your account without it saying "To delete your account you Must first cancel your membership." c:
I hope this helps people out !
Just notify your bank and tell them you are having problems with Zoosk. They will flag the direct debit and refund you everytime zoosk try and take the money.Put it in the hands of the bank.
the say free. and you cant recieve or send emails
All I gotta say is, zoosk is # now, I can remember when I first made a fb zoosk was free. You didn't have to pay message people or anything, I made i'd say 7female friends off of zoosk. But ever since last year they made it to where you needed to pay to do anything now. You can only flirt once per person before you have subscribe, I hate this because i'm interested in someone who's interested in me too and i've had to message her from 3different zoosk accounts to get her to add me on fb. And you gotta finagle your way into saying facebook and zoosk and message without the site transforming what you said into * facebook isn't even 10letters long -.- but yeah, zoosk is # now, I wish it was they it used to be. I'm a man looking for a woman... Why you gotta make it sooo hard?
