500px – Photography Community Update is a mess

My last review was August. Nine months later, push notifications still don't work properly. A photo will say X number of likes on the website and it will be completely different on the app-- or will show no likes.

But the worst offense of this app is that you cannot add location. Sometimes it's necessary to add location because GPS didn't pick it up on the phone or if I am adding something from my Nikon library on the app. But you cannot add location via the iPhone – neither in this app nor on a browser. Only way you can add location manually is to do it via the website on a computer. And for a mobile person that is annoying. This app is still a disappointment.

...

This app is broken. I keep getting "a server-side error has occurred" when trying to view my feed. It's currently showing that I have 0 followers and that I'm following 0-- yet the website clearly indicates this is not so. Nothing displays on the home tab.

Please fix!

500px – Photography Community Inspirational

In order to get into a creative mindset I find that looking at others good work stirs my creative process. 500px was great for this with the previous version of this app and with the new version takes both a step forward and a step back. Where they step back is the use of white backgrounds. I'll never understand why photography apps use white backgrounds. Neutral gray or black would make the photos look their best and since they are selling prints I'd think they'd want to make all these photos look as amazing as possible.
But then there is the step forward... galleries. I can now create a gallery of any photos that inspire me to create. I can create multiple galleries that inspire in different ways using different styles. I control what goes in and why it goes where I want it.
Even though these two things make a push I still give the app five stars because of the galleries. That alone puts this above the Flickr app and don't get me started on Instagram.

500px – Photography Community One of my favorite iPad apps has been ruined

I first discovered 500px in the windows app store and found its slideshow feature as a beautiful way to enjoy some amazing photos by incredibly talented folks. The iOS version allowed my iPad to brighten my day by acting as a photo frame on my desk when I was not actively using it.

Unfortunately, the most recent iOS release of this app has been redesigned to look more like Instagram and seems to be trying to facilitate more community engagement, and has removed the ability to enjoy fullscreen slideshows of the various feeds that differentiate 500px from Instagram.

This has completely ruined my use of the app and I can no longer enjoy the beautiful photos taken by the 500px community on my iPad. My biggest fear is the redesign will drop the quality of the photos in this community to be more of the generic “smart phone” type of photos.

You’ve ruined the application on iOS, please don’t ruin this community and the folks who enjoy the art created within it. Also, please don’t ruin the windows app as I can at least fall back on it.

500px – Photography Community Newest greatest Innovation

This app has the potential to be the next Instagram. This is the best photography app if you are looking to view some hd photos. The app displays all high quality photos in almost every topic imaginable. I didn't come across one low quality photo. IF EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR A WALLPAPERS APP THEN, THIS IS THE ONE! Forget the "ios wallpapers" apps, or any other wallpapers/background app, because this on does the job, although you can't save it, you CAN screenshot any photo.

THINGS TO IMPROVE:
First of all id like to start off by saying that I do not want any updates to come for this app, because it is already the best it's going to be and, there is always the chance that when the update comes out, it may not be as good...
SECOND, have an option to save photos to camera roll.
Again this is not too much of a big problem, especially when it runs into copyright issues, so it is what it is.
Thanks so much I can't believe I found this app to be so nice, because I usually end up deleting apps like this if they don't live up to what they are advertising.

500px – Photography Community Crashing

This is a 'love/hate app for me.
Still a 'one star' 6 months after my last review.
'Still will freeze-up constantly and many times it will not connect to their servers. Get these problems fixed and I will start to think '5 star'. I still use the app almost everyday but get very frustrated with it.
If you get this app I recommend just getting the free app till it works correctly, if you pay for the app you will feel that you are not getting what you are paying for. If you write to customer support to give them feedback on the problems you are experiencing, do not wait around for an answer from them, you will not get one.

The program worked great on my iPad Pro and iPhone until They did the iso10 update a few weeks ago, it would crash about every 5 minutes. After doing the update yesterday (Dec 4th) now it keeps crashing every 10 to 30 seconds, extremely aggravating at this time. For me, it went from a 5 star down to a 1 star. I hope they get a fix for this soon so I can start using it again.. I do not know if anyone else is having this problem or not..

500px – Photography Community New Update is a Step Back

It is sad when an app that you really like is updated and it seems like it has taken a big step backward in functionality, almost to the point of not really wanting to use it any more. I used to really like the two basic viewing modes: full screen, then almost full screen but with some basic information such as what the pulse rate was of the picture and an easy way to give it a thumbs up, etc. Now to find the pulse rate you must go out of full screen to this other mode and then select “Details”. I can’t describe the old modes fully because, well, they are gone. Sniff sniff. Also, if you accidentally push the button in the middle of the row of buttons at the bottom for adding a photo, there is no easy way to cancel out of it that I can find. I have had to kill the app to get out of it. And finally, there is some gesture that I am doing that has me giving a thumbs up to a photo and it can’t be undone later by just selecting the thumb icon. Sorry, not a good update in my opinion. I will give it 2 stars because it still has the same amazing pictures. Otherwise I would 1 star it just to send a “not cool” message.

500px – Photography Community Not as nice as it used to be

I want to add that I also think the new logo is poorly designed. The simplicity and instant recognizability of the previous logo was perfect. The new logo is too complex without contrast or distinction. And the whole attempt to transform "px" from pixels to "personal expression" comes off as a bad SNL skit idea.

One other thought. 500px joining with this Chinese content provider is a bad idea. China has an abysmal track record for protecting intellectual rights and copyright protection. Essentially handing them the entire content of 500px on a platter seems that it will likely end very badly for 500px. I have no doubt that when images start being used without authorization, that 500px will be facing a very costly class-action lawsuit.

I agree with several others on here that the UI has taken a step backward. But my biggest complaint is a technical one. The cache for this app keeps growing and growing. Two days ago it was at 600MB. Today it is now at 1GB. I've searched the app and all of the available settings, but am unable to find any way to purge the cache or to set a cache maximum. This is something 500px needs to seriously address.

500px – Photography Community The good the bad and the ugly

The Good: Galleries is brilliant and long overdue. Combining the like and the favorite button is a great idea. Having them separate was bloated and clunky.
The Bad: the Information in Focus View is a little intrusive and not viewable in landscape. So if I want to like a photo or check the details, I have to turn the phone. The white pop up details window not only clashes with the Focus view experience, it is considerable slower than the previous method of sliding up the details information. The pop up is also surprising slow to display the information, whereas the previous version was instant.
The Ugly: The picture information is ‘sticking’ from one picture to the next when swiping through pictures in Focus View meaning the the wrong information is being displayed for the picture being viewed. Also, the my ‘likes’ are not being recognized. When i like a pic, the heart turns from clear to white, but the like count doesn’t change. The heart will either change back to clear after about 10 seconds, or remain until I swipe to the next picture and then back again. Upon returning to the pic that I ‘liked’ the heart is clear again. Looking forward to the fixes…

500px – Photography Community The UI change is a failure

The UI change didn't improve the picture browsing experience, but degraded it. I would love to have back the old approach of showing only photos without any extra distracting info.
BTW, the white background is very disturbing!

[Updated for 4.4.0] I switched back to version 3 since the last review. The old version looks and works nice and smoothly. Noticed that v4.4 just rolled out today, so downloaded this new version and used it for a few hours. I've already discovered a few problems:
1. When the picture is in focus view mode, rotating the phone will display the photo in horizontal mode. It's a good feature for horizontally framed photos, but the info and like button became unavailable. Users have rotate the phone back to vertical in order to like the photo;
2. Photos in home page of the app (assuming it's the "flow" view), many times it's observed that wrong photos were displayed. When those photos were tapped, the correct photo will show up I focus view;
3. There's no option to choose between "flow" and "following" view.

I guess the app was not seriously tested before the release, and really hope 500px could get it improved in terms of user experience.

500px – Photography Community Two-side Story

The app is used by two types of people: viewers and photographers.

It's a good app for viewers. You can search photos in many ways, very flexible. If you just want to view good quality photos, simply go to popular photo section.

It's not such a great tool for photographers though.

First of all, there is no setting options to let you customize how you use the app. For example, after you posted a photo, you might receive hundreds of emails just simply letting you know who started follow you, liked you photo, or left a comment. From the app, this can't be turned off.

Secondly, uploading photos is not very intuitive. It shows upload was successful sometimes, but shows no confirmation some other times.

Thirdly, the app shows all your photo's meta data. Well, it's not everyone wants to disclose every single photo's meta data. But you can't turn this off either.

Last, it might be me lacking knowledge. But I didn't find a way to upload multiple photos to one post.

Oh, by the way, the app will pop up a window asking you how you feel about the app. If you select "like" option, it will take you to the App Store for evaluation. If you select "dislike" option, it will do nothing.

500px – Photography Community A brilliant exercise in the tyranny of mediocrity

The most recent app of 500px has taken on the tone of the masses and all the benefits and entrapments that come with it. For photography, those entrapments are seriously distracting. The use of a social media like rating system removes most constructive or useful feedback.

Inconsistencies between the iPad, iPhone and website presence for how "Likes/Loves" are indicated is distracting and poorly executed. The overall look is probably the only reason why I gave this two starts.

Finally, and perhaps most annoying, there is a continual prompt to rate the app. I've consistently said "I don't like it" and at first followed the apps suggestion to contact the 500px team. No one ever got back to me and now I just say No Contact. This has now gone on for 2 updates of the app.

It's my opinion that the team at 500px simply has decided the best revenue generating mechanism is to make this app more like Pinterest or Facebook. Add revenue will be coming down the pike I'm sure.

I've cancelled my subscription and am currently looking for better sites that provide communities with constructive feedback that will improve my photography. This is merely a site to tack pictures up and get mostly positive but non-constructive feedback from the community.

My mother can do that for me. I don't need the world to be my mother.

500px – Photography Community Too much work to "like" a photo

The number one problem with the 500px app is that it's not easy to "like" a lot of photos. It requires way too many taps and going to full page mode for each photo. For example in Fresh, it seems like I have to individually tap on each photo to bring up full screen mode to like it, then go back. Or, I can like it and have to swipe to the next one. That's a lot of tapping and swiping per like.

I would prefer a screen tiled with large photos that I could scroll through and like photos without leaving that feed. Both Flickr and Instagram make it much easier to scroll through a feed and conveniently like photos without having to open up a new full screen page. This should be doable in lots of places, like in flow, popular, on someone's profile, etc. It's a pain to have to open each photo in a new page to like it. It's the main reason I spend time on Flickr and Instagram but not on 500px.

Maybe this could be solved by using a third party app to access 500px - but no, their API doesn't allow other apps to show your notifications, so that's useless.

I also preferred the dark theme over the new one.

Weird that you went to the trouble to entirely redesign the app and there is still no way to add a location when uploading a photo. Why is that only doable from a desktop?

Lastly, you should do a better job enforcing tagging "adult" photos. Despite safe search I see lots of photos of naked women popping up, which makes me not want to use the app at work or in public.

500px – Photography Community Kind of misleading

I'd give a one star but since their app is pretty optimized and bug free (until 4.9.9 which broke uploading for me. The keyboard wont go away.)

So the main point I joined was for their whole get discovered spiel.

Now I'm not saying.. "YA MY PICS ARE GREAT, ANYONE WOULDNT DARE NOT LIKE THEM."

What bothers me the most is, it takes around 10-15 people to like your photo to go from "Fresh" past "Upcoming" to their "Popular" status. The exposure you get the moment you upload is great. Hundreds of views, people are smashing that heart, your feeling dopamine shoot through your veins, let alone your brain, the intoxicating feeling of euphoria. Yet that's where it goes STRAIGHT DOWN hill.

I have a picture with a "Pulse" rating of 88.9 which has 93 views and 25 likes. That view number has been the SAME since the end of the day I originally uploaded it after it hit "Popular" status. At least practice what you preach. Drawing new photographers in by touting get exposed with our secret algorithm, get a week free of our pro+ plan then pay us or we'll graveyard your pics..

Yeah.. 500px doesn't keep it all to themselves. The contests and give aways are a cool idea unlike the bait and hook top tier "Pro+" plan, if you were truly towards exposing new photographers, you wouldn't slap your "Pro+" plan with "Priority Listing".

I'm in business and I know no sorts of advertising is free unless your just that persistent and amazing at the skill. Why not include it in the "AWESOME" that's reasonable at $59.88 plan? Instead of $239.88 a year where any NEW photographers would probably look away for another option to showcase their work.

500px – Photography Community Latest Update: The Best Photography Community App on market

July 9Below are several Updates. Here is the latest release review:
The current version is the most intuitive, inspiring, addictive photography community/ collection on the market. Lot of added features are finally in place and working properly.
There are some minor issues when in full page mode, and flip to the next image, the image changes, but the photo's stats and photographers name is still from the previous image. This doesn't occurs extremely frequent, but frequent and consistent enough for it to be classified as a bug on iPad with the latest iOS update and latest official release of 500px.

The recommended tags works very well and as expected. Great work guys/gals.

most issues regarding bugs and usability have been greatly and thoughtfully addressed. So, I'm updating from 4 to 5 stars as it is one of the best photography apps.

Couple of suggestions for functionality are:
1. Ability to bookmark where you left off viewing and rating photos in your custom pulse.Applied(thank you, works well)

2. Modifying the algorithm that calculates the pulse rating, so levels the field for photographers with fewer followers being able to get the rating with photographers who have 1000's of followers.
3. Improving the sharing process and function. Status unknown.

As a 25 years software engineer and QA, I would like to point out a few things since the release of the new version of 500px.

Intuitive and visually pleasing, with capabilities and functionalities not there before.

Tested the latest bug fixes and functionalities added. The latest incremental release of the app addressed a lot of bugs and issues it was facing in conjunction to iOS updates.

Utilizing TestFlight is a great idea for continuous user testing to report, manage the potential bugs, and test new functionalities.

500px – Photography Community Cool platform for displaying and viewing photos

The simplest way I can describe 500px is to say it's like Instagram, but for SERIOUS photographers, whether professional or amateur. No selfies, no shameful ads promising to get you thousands of followers - just great pictures of all kinds with nice, crisp resolution.

So what can you do with 500px?
>You can upload your pics and include (if you like) titles and descriptions, and also tag them with keywords.
>You can browse through a number of categories - what's popular right now (based on number of likes), what's new, or categories like landscapes, transportation, concerts, family, etc.
>You can follow specific photographers so their work comes up in your feed.
>You can "like" photos, similar to IG, but you can also curate galleries. Let's say you like sunsets. You can create a gallery for that, and when you come across a sunset picture that someone took, you can save it in your sunset gallery. It's like a more sophisticated way of saving favorites.
>You can leave and respond to comments. (The typical 500px-er doesn't do emojis blowing kisses or giving thumbs-up. It's meant for REAL feedback and encouragement.)

To the novice photographer (like me), be careful! You can find yourself both inspired and overwhelmed at the number of AMAZING photos that are shared. Try to not dwell too much on comparisons or the number of likes or followers. Just participate and enjoy.

Another reviewer mentioned how this app builds community and awareness of like minded people around the world, and I very much agree.

Technically, I think it's great. I've read comments of some veteran 500px-ers who have seen the app go through changes that they did not like. I can only say that I like the current format, and it seems that they have overcome some issues that slowed down its performance.

Awesome concept and a great app!

500px – Photography Community Frustrating nav + no Pinterest?! No improvement for years!

1. SAME suggestions after years! Not much improvement. Weak support/communication. 2. FRUSTRATING NAVIGATION: i. unintuitive, uneasy ii. x to rid photos is too small you have to hit x several times for it to respond. iii. clicking outside should close photos! Why add steps? iv. Galleries List is horribly frustrating to scroll. there should be a user option to list alphabetically, not just from last time used. v. Recommended section: does not return to last spot on Home section, so you have to scroll to find spot every time - what a waste of time! 3. ADD to Gallery i. 4 steps instead of 2! Why so cumbersome/un-zen?! ii. can not add to more sets than 1 at a time, so repeat i. What is the point of extra step “done” if you can’t choose multiple categories?! 4. LOADING TOO SLOW. images load quite slow, even with 150M WiFi download speed 5. LIMITED SEARCH: Search Categories are very limited. Many images are junk. Bad quality shots. Not well conceived or layed out. Weak subjects. Expected more from 500px vs flickr/instagram etc. 6. ODD FOLLOW: i. Finding people to follow is limiting & only works on 500px suggestions?! Suggestion A.I. not too smart or precise or relevant. Ii. Plus 500px suggests people with no pictures?! Too many curators available instead of real photographers adding content - please distinguish photographers from curators more clearly, thanks. 7. NO PINTEREST Share: Pinterest has been popular for years, but there's still no Pinterest link for images, just FB & Twitter as if they're Godly & nothing else is worthy. Sure, you can not clutter UI with every social site button but Twitter & FB are not image sites...and Pinterest is bigger than 500px + Instagram... so now it's very inconvenient, one has to copy link, add site to Pinterest, then pin... OVERALL: strange implementation. bizarre navigation. limited functionality. incomplete. impractical. slow to improve!

500px – Photography Community Worst update ever!

Dear 500px developers,
If you want this app/website to be a social app/website, please make another one. It will be probably just another one in the internet. Leave this one for photographers. Many of us don't use flickr or Instagram to post our work because they aren't meant to be for photographers. And this update of the app and website is just another flickr and Instagram for me.

Here are some of the comments of 500px users from another website:

"If this change was meant for photographers' use, it really missed the point:
- the title of an image is an essential part of it. It's not with the photo anymore, but has to be found in the details.
- the tags are not needed with the photo and should leave the space for the title
- I can't go to my list of photographers I follow to see their portfolio
- I don't care to see a plethora of "similar" images, which they are not ..."

"Somebody must have had too much time on their hands to create such a bad and ugly interface"

"What is the point to have tags being bigger than the photograph?"

"It is a merge of Flickr and Instagram, a step backward for me. Previous was better, more clear."

"It never been worse. They managed to ruin everything, starting from application badge design..."

"1) Where are my groups in the app?
2) Why do you keep making images smaller and tags bigger? Once I've found the image I want to see, tags are superfluous.
3) The main concept behind the 'flow' was to see images people I follow liked. Where is this now? I couldn't find it.
4) Speaking of groups, why can I only "Fav" and not "Like" in the website?
5) Also on the website, there should only be two consistent views: the image large and the image with info. Be consistent. I've lost count of how many inconsistent UIs there are."

If you want money, make new products or target new markets but don't touch 500px. We love it as it is. Give us what we need and love or make it better by keeping it for photographers. Please fix this ASAP before members leave.

500px – Photography Community Who moved my cheese?

Update:

Thanks for listening and improving the new version. It is getting better!

Old review:

I like what you are trying to do with the new app, but I have some sympathy with a lot of the negative comments... A few suggestions:

I like the new home screen, but it would be better if you could have it tiled like the popular or editors choice pages. The details view is fine with me if you want to vote or comment, but the. Tiles view would be better for a quick scroll though the flow...

I agree with all the comments about the use of white as a. Backdrop. Please switch back to black or a dark grey...

I think you have picked up some of the feel of the Flickr app but lost some of the simplicity and photographic beauty of the experience of the old app.

Overall. You made some great steps forwards. A few tweaks to the visual experience would keep me happy .

Edit:

A few more thoughts after a bit more use...

The double tap to vote is great! But it is not advertised anywhere! Tell people about it.

Consider adding two finger double tap to fav.

On the iPhone toggling between full screen and "Instagram view" seems quite logical. But on the iPad, the pictures shrink considerably. This is very distracting. It would be better in the pictures continue to use all the screen on the iPad like on the iPhone.

I feel that he title, description and current score should be seen first. For me this s important information and should not be buried in a details sub panel.i can see that the tags are well linked to the search function, but frankly I'd be happy to see the tags relegated to the details panel.

Please add back the exif data in the details.
I also miss the location details. Please add it back. At one point you could pull up a map, zoom and even explore for other images in the area. This should be there - at least in the iPad version.

In the home page the details view scrolls down. In all other views you swipe left right. This inconsistency is annoying. I'd prefer a swipe for all and to have the scolding tiles view on the home page as default.

Overall as I am getting used to it, I am liking it more. The double tap to vote and the zoom images are nice touches.

Ade

500px – Photography Community Beautiful app, beautiful content, just a few minor suggestions

All in all, I think this app is one of the best examples of what an iPad experience can be. It's very smooth and intuitive, with an interface that is quick to access and operate, but subtle enough that it doesn't detract from the content at all. The content, by the way, is amazing. 500px seems to be inhabited by all sorts of very talented photographers from all over the world.

I have fairly speedy internet, but it still seems that photos load faster in this than many other image browsing apps, due to the balance between size and quality that 500px seems to have found with their preview images. Which makes for a really pleasant browsing experience, since you don't feel you're waiting all the time.

Since the last update, I haven't had the app crash on me yet. I had gotten fairly used to consciously slowing down my browsing a bit before, and I haven't actually tried to crash the app so far, but I would definitely say that it seems to be stable again.

The only two issues that I tend to notice as annoyances when using the app, are really fairly small, but would bump this up to a full five stars by my reckoning.

The first, and far more important to me, is that when browsing through a category, or the Flow feed, for any sizeable amount of time, if you choose to view a photo in detail, and end up branching off to view the photographer's portfolio from there, when you return to the feed you were viewing via the previous screen button trail, the feed will often refresh, starting you back at the most recent photos, instead of returning you to where you were. This can be fairly annoying if you've gone a few hundred photos into a feed, and are suddenly required to swipe through (and reload) several dozen screens, in order to pick up where you left off.

The second is much more minor, and is simply that, when viewing photo details, there are commonly hashtags which have been added by the photographer. These are styled in such a way that they appear to be links, and will even flash red for a moment if you tap on them. However, they never seem to lead anywhere or have any effect. The implication is that tapping one should bring you to a feed of other photos with the same tag, as that's fairly standard behavior these days. This behavior would of course be ideal, as it would add even more ways to explore the awesome photos that 500px's very talented users have shared. If it is a feature in progress, I feel it would be better to remove the link styling for now, as it makes you a little disappointed in what is really a fantastic photo browsing experience.

All in all, I would absolutely recommend this app, and site in general, to photographers especially, though really, to anyone. It is an incredible collection of work, presented very, very well.

500px – Photography Community Photos are no longer center stage

Update: keeping the one star review cause the prior version should have been "0" stars.

Only true change I can find is the exif data is readable.

Ditch the excessive "like/love/share/comment/review/repost". If I want to do that, I will. You don't need to have it overwhelm a photo. If the photo is that good it will draw me to action.

The search/explore function needs to be the homepage. I want to peruse new photos, not see the same ones every time the app loads. It makes the app seem stale and old.

Also, two words... Black background!

Back to our regularly scheduled feature:

The prior version was awesome in it's simplicity. As an aspiring photographer, the best benefit I got from this app was that I could see the settings that pros used to obtain these aweome pictures. On the night photography and advanced pictures, it was an incredible tool for learning. The ability to see the settings is now cut off, with no way to get access to the settings. About the only thing that is now available is the camera used, and then the elipsis shows me there's more info I can't get to. Disappointing.

The curated photos from the 500px crew were also impressive to look through to find new photographers to follow. I loved having that on the homepage to scroll through impressive photos. Even photo styles that I'm not particularly fond of were fun to look through, as they were curated photos picked by the editors. On the search categories, seeing the pictures doubled up on a single row makes it harder to see on a phone sized screen. That means I have to look through more low quality pictures to find the ones that are stunning. The prior format was perfect to put the photos on center stage.

When viewing the home screen, it shows way too much useless information for each photo. Even when clicking on the photos, it still shows way too much useless info. The prior way the information was accessed was brilliant. I don't care to see the last few comments about the photo... "it's wonderful" is the reason it should be on my homepage to begin with. I don't care to like a photo straight from the home screen... that's not why I downloaded 500px. I have instagram for that (and I don't use Instagram for reason too). It degrades the purpose of a community like 500px to lower the standards to a purely social media crowd. There is more space devoted to the comments/liking the photo than the photo itself. I just recently found 500px, and loved that the photos were the focus compared to the comments. Now more space is devoted to liking or commenting than the photo itself. Revert it back to the prior version...

Make the homescreen the editor's choice again... or give me the option to. I don't want to see someone's photo from 48 days ago on my home screen. makes the app feel stale and old.

I'm with some of the others that say the white background has got to go...

500px – Photography Community The community is good, the tech support is poor

The iOS app will keep logging you out every other day. In addition, from time to time it will "forget" that you've purchased a premium subscription and will restrict your features to the basic free plan while also annoyingly prompting you to upgrade.

If you reach out requesting a refund for these technical issues persisting for over 4 months, you'll be told that their policy allows for refunds only within 60 days from purchase, and that you are stuck with the deficient subscription for the whole period.

If you want to try it, I'd recommend staying with a monthly subscription to be able to toss it if you get tired of constantly having to log in when you open the iOS app.

500px – Photography Community Inscrutable

After posting a few photos, I noticed the app said I am "following" 59 photographers! Not by choice, I assure you. (No one I see is following me, by the way, against their choice).I tried to find controls I needed to edit info on my pictures. Looked in the Apps online help. And found uncorrelated information. Parts seem to be missing under user settings. Tried to close the account. Not possible with controls and help info provided. Don't understand why something as unoriginal as this has so much mystery associated with its use. Authors should review the original classic app... Photo.net. This is reinventing that app with new bugs and growing pains. Still can't close account. Disgusted!

500px – Photography Community Poor experience

iPad Pro: compatibility mode : works on this iPad. Lol. Joke.

Have to click into a pic then on my profile then I get a usable home page with all my pics in a layout without random spacing. Every time I open the app the layout is borked and I have to click into a picture then click on my profile to get a layout that makes any sense.

I've been using the app for 30 mins and I can't get out of my profile page. Had to close the app entirely and sign in again. The navigation bar on the bottom is gone. Sometimes it would show up but now never.

Portrait to landscape is broken.

Regret paying year subscription for sth so broken and neglected.

Unusable app. How can this be allowed to continue?

500px – Photography Community Lots of glitches

Terrible app, love the idea of seeing and showing some of the greatest photography in the world. Shame on the app developers for not providing a better working app to complement the beautiful photos. It takes hours even days to update your stats. It says you have xx amount of followers when you may have xxx amount of followers. I get alerts in my cell phone that someone liked my photo but when I go to app it's not there. Sometimes it takes a 7-8 hours to show up in app. They should take a lesson from EyeEm developers who have a much smoother and glitch free app! This is my very first negative review for any Apple app. It's just so annoying I had to come here and complain. Need whole new interface overhaul.

500px – Photography Community Too buggy

I'm generally happy with 500px web app. However I use the mobile app on my iPad Pro as well as my iPhone 7 (both latest iOS) and it is buggy as hell. I just posted a photo and when I tap on my own photo, on the iPad Pro it shows me a blank dark screen and on the iPhone it is light gray/white screen. I go to my profile and that photo is taking a space in the grid but the photo is not there. It also made the photo right next to it (uploaded months ago) disappear! -- in addition, every photo that was uploaded by other users after my upload is now behaving the same way. I quit the app (and yes removed it from running in the background) and the problem remains. The issue seems to resolve it self if you don't touch your device for a few hours.

500px – Photography Community Update is terrible

The "revamped" app is an abomination. I'm a fairly regular contributor to 500px, but I hardly ever visit anymore because I can't stand to use the app. Flow is gone, pulse is buried, I see a bunch of tags I could care less about. Tags are for searching purposes, people. Now they take up half the real estate under a photo. And that awful white background omg. And my "home" area is filled with a few photos from those I follow, and many 'recommended photos' which sometimes repeat 3 or 4 times in my feed. I believe that anyone who rated this more than 1 star doesn't participate in 500px other than occasionally browsing photos, and doesn't know why this site *used to betop notch. Whoever is responsible for this redesign should seriously be fired, it's really THAT BAD!

500px – Photography Community Crashing

I really like this App. but, it has a crashing issue. I get deep into looking at someone's photos and about the time I decide to follow, it crashes. Also as with the others, there needs to be the ability to upload photos without going to your computer to do so. There are absolutely stunning photos in here but the issues it has make it less desirable. Fix this stuff 500 and ill be hooked. Right now I'm really on the fence with this one.

Update; Still crashes, I guess no one is listening. It's too bad too. I really love the professionalism in the Photographs. Just a shame I can't see everyone's. Dropping my rating.

Update: crash, crash, crash crash etc... Getting pretty annoyed with this.

Update: crash, crash, crash, crash. Get your act together people.
Fix this crap!

500px – Photography Community Prefer Older Version

Previous version of this app was awesome. I use Flow for Instagram simply because it's what this app use to be for 500px. I like the squares. Didn't allow you to see the entire photo right off the bat but the 1:1 was plenty enough for me to tell if I was interested or not. Seems like the new app loads photos much slower as well. Whether on LTE or Wifi I still have slow load times. Rarely had that with the previous version. And the inability now to see all the shot details (if provided by the photographer) is super annoying. Can barely see what kind of camera they're using let alone aperture/ISO/focal length info. As a newer photographer I love that info as it helps me get a rough mental idea of what my settings would be to capture a similar image. Overall - disappointed with the update.

500px – Photography Community Horrible!

No favorites, flow is broken,no way to contact 500px thru the app, useless space everywheres. Seriously who cares about seeing tag words i mean really? You guys have been implementing crap thru you website your flow and now your app is crap. It used to be great. Go back in your thinking room and this time think before you put something out.
Also no way to flag a
Comment in the app is a major blunder. As now with the new flow the spammers are going to town. One guy spammed his way to 35000 plus favorites and 2700+ followers with very amateur work in less than 2 weeks. Ridiculous. Biggest blunder is the bandwidth it now takes to see the same amount of images is double due to the needless text and layout of the app. Major blunder there!

I would give it no stars but you have to give it at least one.

500px – Photography Community Missing a lot of usability from the old version

The new interface is nice but it's missing a lot of functionality from previous versions.

In addition to the "new" feed, perhaps bring back a place where you can click to get the "old" flow. I appreciate how the new feed is less cluttered but it would still be nice to switch back to the old style flow should I want to see the activity of people I am following.

I agree with other reviewers...give an option to toggle a black interface. Also a toggle to show all the keywords on the feed. It's distracting for me.

Also missing is the ability to filter upcoming or popular photos by category. Bring back the drop down picker. Before, I could see just Landscape Upcoming photos if I wanted to.

I also encountered a bug where I was adding keywords to my already posted photo. After saving the keywords, the app deleted my title and description.

500px – Photography Community scamming??

if i could rate this zero stars, i would.
i made an account online and everything was fine until i tried to login the next day.
every device that i try to login on wont load, keeps refreshing on its own, says my account doesnt exist or says that its unauthorized. ive tried my phone browser, the mobile app and two different computer browsers.
i have a pro trial going on and i cant get back into my account so of course i cant cancel the trial before im charged for it which seems like a complete scam on the apps part.
