My contract was signed with ADT in March 2022. I had secured financing for the new roof and solar panels at the time. By the end of June 2022, the roof had been installed, the solar panels installed, and the energy saving package to include a NEST thermostat, energy efficient bulbs (half don’t fit anything in my house), hot water blanket and the check for the overall home energy efficiency. The only items left were the home attic insulation, the zippered attic doorway, and to connect the solar panels. By December 2022, solar panels were still not working, and the financing expired. Standards had changed, and I was unable to get financing. ADT eventually had to do a promissory note for the project. This took months for approval. Then in June 2023, ADT called stating that the project could not continue because the solar panels installed did not match the ones specified in the contract. This meant a new contract had to be signed. The agreement was that ADT would abide by all the terms in the original contract. The only change was to be the types of panels. It was verified by phone on two occasions that the attic insulation would be completed. This has turned out not to be true. I still do not have the attic insulation. ADT now claims that this was not included. They have also reduced my 25 year guarantee to 10 years for leaks. This was not part of the original contract. One of ADT's customer service specialists on November 21, 2023, said that she was coordinating with her team to get the insulation done. Then on December 13, 2023, she sent an email that I was not charged for insulation. I have asked for the insulation throughout the project and was told that it would be done after the panels were in working order. The reason I was not charged separately is because this was to come with the price of the roof. I have the BuildPro receipt showing that the roof cost $19,999; ADT’s contract shows the price at $23,200. This shows that the insulation was charged ..or ADT owes me $3201. The customer service representative made no effort to research this issue. Her attitude was flippant as she let me know that IF an original contract existed, it is no longer in docusign. It is very disheartening that such a large company would treat it’s customers in such a manner. I expect ADT to honor the original contract which includes a 25 year guarantee overall and that the insulation be added. I know that ADT records its calls, so they know that I have been asking about the insulation all along. When they called about a new contract, I specifically mentioned the insulation and the 25 year guarantee. I should have known better than to sign a new contract. However, I thought that ADT was a reputable company that would stand by its word. Was I wrong! I would not have signed a new contract if ADT had not assured me that the only change would be to the type of panels.
