Dear Advocate Health Care,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding the recent incident involving the mishandling of my mother's prescription for insulin at CVS, which has caused significant distress and potential health risks for my family.
On [date], my brother, Victor Bates, visited the CVS pharmacy to refill my mother's prescription for insulin. However, upon arriving home, he discovered that the prescription did not include the necessary needles for administering the insulin. Understandably, this created a significant inconvenience and immediate need for resolution.
Victor promptly contacted the pharmacy to address the issue and was informed that the doctor needed to write a separate prescription for the needles. The pharmacy attempted to contact the doctor's office to rectify the situation, but unfortunately, no callback was received. Frustrated with the lack of response, my brother personally reached out to the doctor's office, only to be met with further disappointment.
Despite multiple attempts to communicate with the doctor's office, including waiting for returned phone calls and speaking with receptionists and nurses, no one was able to provide assistance. The doctor had been repeatedly paged, but to no avail. This lack of communication and urgency from the doctor's office is both unacceptable and concerning.
As the situation escalated, I took it upon myself to call the doctor's office in an attempt to resolve the issue. I expressed the urgency of the matter, explaining that my brother had been trying to obtain my mother's medication since 10 am. Unfortunately, even my intervention did not yield any results. The doctor's office assured me that they would accelerate the call, but once again, no callback was received.
This ongoing lack of communication and failure to provide the necessary medical care for my mother is deeply distressing. Not only has this negligence caused significant frustration and inconvenience, but it has also put my mother's health at risk. As her glucose levels continued to rise, reaching a concerning 182, my brother was left in the dark about how high they could potentially climb.
I implore Advocate Health Care to investigate this matter thoroughly and take immediate action to rectify the situation. It is critical that such incidents are not repeated, and that patients are provided with the essential medical care they require in a timely and efficient.
We are still today waiting for call from a doctor. My mother is 89 years old.
