[protected]--Met with company rep for evaluation of my current furnace after solicitation of company.*** stated that my current furnace was bad and dangerous. I should replace asap. We discussed all options for a Carrier 2-stage performance product. This he said, would offer me longevity and propane savings, and a quiet unit. They only use Carrier or Rheem products. The unit I needed was only available (1) in Colorado Springs, and (1) in New York. I checked with one other company that carried Rheem products and they quoted me a 2 stage Ruud product. *** assured me that the Ruud product was the entry level product by Rheem and it wouldn't last longer than 10 years.I agreed for the installation for April 5, 2022.The 2 technicians arrived and removed my older furnace that was a *** product and it had worked well since I bought the house [protected]. They did not confirm the model or product in any way that was boxed up. I could not get down to read the small print on the cardboard box to make sure this was what I had purchased. I am a single senior person with bad knees and hearing and eyesight.It was installed.An inspector came by next day to insure that it was installed correctly. He found a propane leak and they came back out to correct. He said to leave the paperwork with the furnace until the final inspection, so I did not see the paperwork. They came back and fixed the leak and then a final inspection was done. Paperwork was still left in crawl space with furnace. I asked my son to go down and get it for me as I am unable to get down in crawl space. The job completion form and registration form confirmed that I had model 59SC5 carrier which is listed on Carrier website as a Comfort level one stage furnace, one of the lowest, most inexpensive models by Carrier.I have called the company phone number 4 times and send message by email 2 times, and contacted the *** All promised a return call. I have never had a call.

Our furnace was short cycling and/or not turning on at all when it was supposed to. It was coming up on a weekend so we chose a company that appeared to have good reviews and could come out on a weekend. I had to work and so the technician, ***, and his apprentice, *** met my wife at 3 on a Saturday. It was just her and my daughter at home. They proceeded to tell her that we had a carbon monoxide leak and the levels in the house were 95 parts per million. They said this was the result of a cracked heat exchange. My wife asked why my alarm didn't go off and he explained a carbon monoxide alarm is designed to go off at the last possible moment you should leave the house, 150 ppm (I later learned this is untrue). They also said we had a gas leak from the pipe that enters the furnace. And on top of this the ac unit was rusted out and flooding the furnace causing damage and effectively making it more expensive to repair the unit than to replace it. My wife called me panicked and I left work to come home. When my wife told the technician she was going to call me, he attempted to talk her out of that, saying it wasnt really necessary, and he would get his supervisor on the phone to talk to her. She ignored that and called me. Once I arrived they went through everything with me and then called the supervisor, ***. He tells his supervisor everything he told me and they put on a good show where his supervisor acts very surprised and worried for us saying they would give us all these different discounts and free add ons. And the two discuss a clearly rehearsed conversation about the dangers involved. At the end of it the tech says, "By the way you've been on speaker phone the whole time" and the supervisor says, "What now!? Thanks for the heads up cheif. Well I guess since they heard me, yknow its all the truth." Theres much more to this but long story short we got a second trusted opinion who told us nothing is wrong and we were lied to. Our system is completely fine.
