return payment never received
i have placed an order online which was never arrived, and no one was able to tell me what went wrong. the tracking didn't tell me anything useful. the responsiveness of their customer service is bad. they either ignore your messages or ignore some questions. You won't get any reply at times. After numorous emails to the customer service, someone replied and asked me to pick the package up at the post office and they willl treat it as a returned order. The return payment was processed on Nov 29, but up till today (Jan 18), i still have not received the credit to my credit card. I emailed and called them a good number of times, and i followed what they have asked me to do, but at the end, no response again. I should have just dispute the charge from the beginning. I will not buy from American Eagle online EVER again.

invalid gift card
My teenage son purchased a $50 gift card for his sister as a gift. She attempted to use the card several months later at the AE in Amarillo, TX and the clerk said it had a zero balance. She told us to call customer service. As their mother, I called customer service four times to get this situation resolved and get my son's $50 returned (of course in another Gift Card). On the 4th call, the agent said she would send my son a new $50 card in the mail. That's it--no apology for all of our trouble...no additional money on the card...NOTHING. AMERICAN EAGLE DID NOT EVEN VALIDATE THE ORIGINAL CARD UPON PURCHASE AND THEY DID NOT CARE THAT IT TOOK ME FOUR PHONE CALLS TO GET THE MONEY RETURNED. I WILL NEVER SHOP AMERICAN EAGLE AGAIN IF THIS IS THE WAY THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. They could have looked at my son's account to see that he spends hundreds of dollars a year with them and just maybe, MAYBE, be concerned about keeping a dedicated customer happy, but NO. American Eagle does not care about their dedicated customers. Keep that in mind as you go shopping next time. Also NEVER BUY GIFT CARDS!
shipping charges incorrect
I have recently placed two orders to be delivered to England. Whilst placing the orders the shipping cost was shown to be £4.42 Sterling. An email came through to show they had charged $50 for shipping on each order. I tried to cancel immediately my order. But was told I couldn't. I find this totally unacceptable to be charged $50 twice when it was shown on the order form to be £4.42. Please refund immediately the difference.

two day delivery is a hoax
I ordered several items from American Eagle for Christmas on December 20, 2011. I paid an additional $5.00 for the two day delivery that was offered. I checked with my band and American Eagle charged my credit card for $280.00 on December 21, 2011. I should have received my items today which is December 23, 2011. After calling this evening and speaking to an American Eagle customer service representative named Nate, I was told that there would be no way that I would received my items by Christmas. However, this morning I called and spoke to Mary, she assured me that I would receive my items on time. Nate, was not able to give me a legitimate reason as to why American Eagle had not shipped out my merchandise. He did tell me that I would probably not receive these items until several days after Christmas. He told me that he would refund my $5.00 when American Eagle shipped my merchandise and that he would give me 40% off and FREE two day shipping on my next order. These were Christmas presents for five different family members.

I would advise buyers to beware before purchasing any items by phone. I ordered a pair of sweatpants by speaking with one of the representatives because the online $10 discount code that I had wasn't working. After I completed the transaction over the phone, I waited for an email confirmation (which big brands like AE should send right away), which I haven't received to this day. I called AE 3 times, because I had no idea where the item was and when I would receive it. AE has already charged my credit card, so I was assuming that at least they didn't forget about me. I ordered the item on November 27th and I am SUPPOSE to receive it two days from today.
I guess free shipping offer does come with a price.
I would never, EVER order anything over the phone. I'm not sure if I'll shop in AE at all anymore.

Got my Christmas order today from AE (ordered on-line). The coat I ordered was not included - a pair of kids jeans (I ordered no kids clothes) was included. Called customer service. I have to 1) wait to get a return mailing label and then package up and ship the item I never ordered back to them; 2) Wait for that item to get back to get a refund for the coat I NEVER GOT; 3) reorder the coat, getting a second charge on my credit card. The final straw was that I had to give my credit card info over the phone. When I told the agent that the phone was not a secure way to give out my credit card number I got a snotty "We're not in the business of selling credit card numbers!". I cancelled the coat - still have to wait for the refund and now have to find another Christmas present. I will NEVER shop at AE again.

american eagle clothing quality
I went to American Eagle last week and I was about to put a shirt on (gently) and the strap broke. It wasn't anything thin and I didn't put it on harshly. I was able to sew the strap on again and I wore it for one day. During the day, the shirt ended up ripping around the waist while i was trying to reach something off a tall cupboard. The quality of this shirt was very poor and I am very disappointed with the company.

I went to an American Eagle in West Virginia. There was one person at the register.. I needed to try some clothes on before purchasing.. he was busy with customers. Not his fault; I understand that. I got in line to ask for a dressing room. While in line, another worker came from the back. Talked to the guy at the register, looked at all of us in line (probably 10+ people), and then went back to the back without asking if anybody needed help. There needed to be more workers in there or the girl should've asked if she could help until the crowd died down. I ended up just leaving without buying anything. This isn't the first time I've been in there, and they've seemed to be short on employees or employees who don't care.
I was wondering if anybody knew who I would contact about this? I was told by a friend to contact the district manager. I have no idea how to go about finding out who it is or their contact information. I sent an email to customer service and all they told me was to give them the complaint and they will forward it to the appropriate person. I am not comfortable doing that because I feel as though it won't in face be forwarded. I would rather contact somebody myself.

Honestly, that employee could have been on break. Rather than expecting an employee to be able to read your mind, you could have just asked the second one if they would mind opening a fitting room for you. I'm sure that even if they were on break they wouldn't have minded.
It's impossible that that employee who didn't help you wasn't capable of doing so.

I went to american eagle to return some shorts.. Never worn them.. Took the tags off but I went in the store to return them. I had the tags and the receipt present with me. I guess the manager was upset or something because I was returning them. I understand how returns hurt the store. I work in retail as well. But I know that I never worn the shorts. He was complaining about the short they look worn there stains this and that but there was nothing there. I could'nt even wear the shorts. They were to big for me. He was screaming and yelling and was giving me an attitude. He was rolling his eyes and being very ugly to me. I have shopped at that american eagle at barton creek mall for years now. I will call customer service on him and let him know how I was treated. I feel like I could never go in there again. I am stuck with a pair of shorts that are to big and I dont want. While on a visit to Georgia, a group of my friends and I went to American Eagle to see what they had. We went in and started looking at some of the clothes. A pretty blue sweater caught my attention, so I went over to it to see how much it was.
I noticed that one of the workers soon came close to where I was and started to fiddle with clothes. I was a little suspicious about this, but blew it off and went to a different section. That same worker followed me a few minutes later, again fiddling with some clothing.
I was now slightly agitated and went to look at the jewelry. There is like this open space in the wall that I went through to get to the jewelry ( I honesty don't understand the point of that since there are no separate closed rooms there). I turned around to call over one of my friends to look at a necklace when the same guy came through the way I came.
That guy had a cheesy look on his face, since he saw that I knew he was following me. My friends and I soon left that store. I don't really want to buy anything from AE anymore.
What bothers me is that no one else in the store was being monitored but me. There were at least eight other people there. Also, the workers were basically saying I'm so stupid that I would take something when there are cameras everywhere (not that would steal if they weren't).
I won't mention what race the workers were, but all of them were the same race and I am different from them. There were other customers in the store that were their race, and they didn't bother them. I don't know if it was because I wasn't from their area, but it still wasn't right.
This is a side note, but I was wondering if this is happening to other people: I noticed that if I search for an article or click on a topic that is not on the sidebar on this site, I am logged out for some reason. I have to refresh to get logged back in. Is this only happening to my computer?

I went in there for christmas spent $100.00 in merchandise which were christmas gifts for my older son.Upon cashing out I received a coupon for $10.00 dollars off my next purchase. So I went back before my coupon expired which was right after christmas and spent another $100.oo dollars. took more belated gifts back home to my other son that was not home for christmas at christmas time. I purchased a pink T-shirt for him and 1 green one and 1 white one and 2 pairs of jeans. when my son got home opened his gifts the jeans were to small and the pink t shirt he did not like. so I went once again back to traverse city from Gaylord Mi to exchange the jeans for the exact same jeans but bigger sizes which was all fine but when it came to the shirt for reason because i wanted to change the color and useed the coupon 2 weeks prior I had to pay a $5.00 cash difference out of my pocket for the exact same shirt just a different color.I demanded a refund and went across the hall to Hollister and purchased a shirt there.

cancells items on order
I purchased 3 items on the AE website the day after Thanksgiving. After 3 days I recieved an Email stating my order had been shipped. It also stated that 1 item was out of stock due to popularity. A few days later they emailed again stating the item was canceled. I emailed back asking why and if I was ever going to get the item and if not will the shipping charge be adjusted to reflect this? They said no to all my inquiries won't cancel the order even if I refuse it! So, now I paid for all 3 items to be shipped but will never get all of them. I am beginning to doubt if I will get anything as it has been 11 days since my order and nothing has come!

worst customer service
I just want to let as many people know as possible. This credit card company is horrible. I work for a bank, have great credit and never hold a balance. The whole point to receiving this card was to earn gift cards at American Eagle. I have earned a total of $70 in gift cards which means I had to charge $7, 000 to this card. I have been waiting for these gift cards since February 2009 and it is the end of June 2009 and I have only received $20 worth. I have spoken to people over 12 times regarding this including 3 managers. I have heard so many stories and explanations I don't know what to believe now. Not only have they opened two case files investigating this and it still can't be resolved but they gave me a $20 credit to my account for all my trouble and then took it away! I was told that the credit was immediate and I could write my check for my balance minus $20. Thank god I decided to pay online instead because yes they credited me but then 4 days later they charged it back! I would have been charged interest on that money if I had just written a check for my balance minus $20. When I called to discuss this matter I was told that it was a mistake and there was miscommunication. This is ridiculous. No matter how good the gift cards are I urge everyone, DON'T GET THIS CARD!

Wow, some hassle you went through and still not resolved. Every company has a research department the public does not know about to determine problems and resolve them within a certain amount of time. I would try to figure out how to get a hold of them. Also, every company is spread all over and all the next person knows is what the prior rep notated on your account. No one knows what is going on. You just have to keep requesting someone higher up. And be sure they are able to authorize a credit for the requested amount to resolve the issue. Alot of times, entry phone reps may only be able to give out a 20-30 dollar courtesy credit (which they do not tell you that this is a one time credit on your account and you cannot get another one). Sometimes, you just have to keep fighting. Its sad, just be nice to the reps you talk to and keep requesting someone higher up. The majority of the time, you just need to find out who the regional director for the department is, they will right away solve the issue. The CEO etc really does not do crap but manage on a global scale.

I had an account with American Eagle Outfitters (GE Money Bank). The account became past due because I was out of work for 5 months. When I regained employment, I paid off the bill that had been turned over to a collection agency by the name of Encore. I had paid Encore in full.
Two months later, I received a letter stating that I owed them the full amount of the past due GE account. I stated over and over that I had paid them off. I even gave them the confirmation number. They told me that it wasn't enough that I would need to call Encore and get copies of the pay off. Which I did... I didn't hear from them again... until 3 months later. I again told them that the debt had been paid off. The gentleman on the phone called me a liar and said that if I continued, he would report me as "refusing to pay" and it would affect my credit. The bill had been paid off for 5 months. The guy on the phone was very rude not once, but every time that they have called. Even after I have proven that the account is paid off.
Now, Here it is again, and it's 2 months later, and this morning I received another call from Aegis. They are still trying to collect a PAID OFF bill, and still don't believe that the bill has been paid off. ... So I called Encore again. Spoke with a very nice fellow, who indicated that AEGIS DOES NOT HANDLE AMERICAN EAGLE... WOW... He said that sometimes they will get a name; Jane Doe;... and they will call 20 Jane Does to try to find the correct one... in order to collect a debt. That the debt that they are actually collecting may not even be yours. He also indicated that I should await another call, and make the company verify all information about me and my account. He said it's possible that they are trying to collect on an account or a debt that isn't even theirs... He told me not to worry about the bill, if they try to collect on it again, simply hang up on them, and that the account has been recorded as paid off on October 8th, and that there should be no more responsibility for this debt.
So the information from MY previous collection agency is that you should make THEM verify YOUR information... Put the "ownness" on them. DO NOT allow them to make you verify it... ask them to give you the information... There is a possibility that they may be trying to get personal information that they are not entitled to have.
So sorry...the complaint is about AEGIS RECEIVEABLES MANAGEMENT...not American Eagle

bad service
I ordered a few sweaters when there was a 25% off promotion code available along with the buy one get one 50% off sale on all tops. AE processed my order in 3 days, and shipped the package via UPS ground. I received it 5 days later and was shocked to see that there were many tears, holes, and a few large rips in the packaging. Also, one of the sweaters was missing.
I spoke to a Customer Service rep, and he was polite. He asked me if I wanted a replacement sweater, but I requested a refund instead. He informed me that my account would be credited within 1-2 billing days. Two week later, I still had not received the refund, so I called Customer Service again. The second rep I spoke to was also polite and told me that there must have been some kind of misunderstanding, because it would take 1-2 billing cycles for my account to be credited.
I ended up returning the sweaters I did receive to an AE store. The quality was a bit disappointing, compared to clothing I had purchased from them in the past. Also, the arms of the sweaters were too small compared to other AE sweaters of the same size.
My most recent and previous orders with AE were packaged somewhat poorly. I do hope they pack shipments better in the future.

It was a very bad experience because of the unprofessional stuff who is treating all the clients with an impolite attitude and don't care about any complaints that maybe sent to the company.
Polite but didn't understand the issue is really problem of the customer service of AE.com.
I placed order 2 jeans and while I placed order size 0 (the invoice shows size 0 actually), I received size "00". I immediately (The day I received) contacted and the agent told me that they are going to send Pre-paid return label. However, I received e-mail from the customer service which tells that I should get Tracking No. from the career (UPS, USPS or whatever) when I drop off the package. What...? Pre=paid return label should have tracking No. already on the label. I complained for the request. Then, their response is "They sent Return Manual on the site". They never understand what was wrong for this transaction. I was feeling with deal with a elementary school student, not professional customer service. Anyway, I didn't receive the Pre-paid return label yet, so I had to call again. Then, the customer service told your order was shipped. Oh my god... I've never buy anything via AE.com. Too much stress and time consuming.
