I started my gym membership around march of 2023 and never went due to a shoulder injury that I had at work. I informed "Linda" the office manager that I would like to cancel my membership due to this issue shortly after I got the membership. She informed me that I signed a 2-year agreement (which she did not, because I knew I would leave this town soon) and there is nothing she can do. I proceeded to look online and saw on the corporate website that they could end a contract if they wanted to at any specific location but it's up to the individual branch to do so. I am now in bankruptcy, got a new job making less money and I drive 100 miles a day to this new job and due to the bankruptcy, my bank closed my account. We are in December now and I informed Linda of the situation and let her know that per their corporate policy they can cancel this account. She stated she can't do anything about it other than freeze the account and I pay 1 payment every 3 months and continue to do so until the 2-year term is up, stating they cannot cancel anything, and the corporate website is not correct. Basically, I have to pay for this account even though I have never used it and don't plan to because of this injury. This is horrible business practice. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Desired outcome: To be released from the contract due to these unforseen circumstances
