I am complaining about a letter I received from aspen dental after 2 months of returning there ill fitting dentures
I have a complaint against Aspen Dental, Between my husband and my self we have spent thousands of dollars @ the Oxford Alabama office. I had teeth pulled in Jan 30th of 2017 and was told my bottom teeth were still good, but they hurt me all of the time. I finally had my bottom teeth pulled Aug, 30th and after that I had to have oral surgery done several times. On upper and lower. Finally when I got my permanent Comfidents they never fit right and I had made @ least 50 trips to that office within 1 1/2 yr. When I had made my last visit the office manager came in and told me that DR. G said that they couldn`t make me happy. That`s not what I was told in the very beginning that no matter what they had to do they would make my dentures right. The dentist didn`t have BALLS enough to even tell me that he couldn`t make me happy . So Thank God I got my money back and went to a different Dentist and I am much happier that I have dentures that fit my mouth. I wouldn`t recommend Aspen Dental to anybody. They are a scam. They get you in there with there first free visit and cleaning, then the dentist comes in and says you several fillings. BUYER BEWARE.

I took my daughter to Aspen because she had a bad toothache and needed emergency services. She was referred by her dental insurance that they were in network. When we got there we were told that her insurance wasn't effective and she had to pay out of pocket 1037.00 for 2 extractions. It was the weekend and instead of waiting for Monday I decided to pay the costs because she was in excruciating pain. She was finally able to get ahold of the manager after she called her dental insurance and was advised that her insurance was valid. The manager reluctantly took her insurance information and proceeded to file the claim. I was told once it processed and paid I would receive my refund. Well weeks went by and never heard anything so after numerous calls they finally released 412.00 out of the 1037 I paid. The problem is the insurance allotted amount was 512 and my daughter's patient responsibility was 139.00 so I'm still owed 400 something back and I keep getting the run around. I had no problem paying up front and now I'm being taking advantage of and being blown off this is not how you do business.
Previous typo the insurance allowance was 412.80
dentures
They have the best staff all soooooo very nice and helpful compared to my 3 year experience going to affordable dentures I wish I had gone here first they cost a tad bit more but omg soooo worth it im really happy with their services I def recommend this location! Awesome staff!
Well I must come back and edit this review I have been back will b 4 times now for these dentures the teeth just keep popping out not even eating anything they just falling out this is now the worst experience ever then they want me walk around without a front tooth for days as opposed to getting me an appt right away this is extremely embarrassing to be just talking and your tooth pop out OMG! If they don't give me a completely new pair I'm sueing for all the back and fourth across town driving every two or 3 weeks a tooth pops out. So now they black ball me from all Aspen centers due to me being upset over this issues so people beware if aspen makes multiple mistakes and u ask for a new pair of dentures they black ball u so if u on fixed income and this all u can afford I feel sorry for you. I can see saying I can't go to their office but all that's abserd. The Best experiences turn into the worst and I get the punishment.

I went to aspen dental for the free exam and for some odd reason i have 101 dollars in collections and i don't understand why beings i had insurance at the time. So im confused as to why my account is into collections and on my credit report. I want this solved because there should be no reason it should show up on my credit report so i would like a answer
reimbursement
I paid $1, 200 for a dental procedure, in cash, 8 weeks ago. After Aspen Cancelled the appointment I decided to go elsewhere.. (best choice I have ever made) After several failed attempts to mail me a check, as recently as yesterday 8/8/18, to which their "over-night" attempt failed again... (I don't believe them) Now, after a very unpleasant exchange with an office employee from the Washington Square, Portland Oregon, office, I will be filling paperwork with several agencies today and beyond. I'm not just seeking the original amount. Nice work, ASPEN...
charged for unnecessary bridge removal
9/21/17
accepted treatment plan $8, 368.00
insurance discounts -4, 329
insurance benefit -1, 249
patient $2, 792.05
After $3, 600 out of pocket, ASPEN now wants additional $2, 800 out of pocket for an unnecessary replacement of a bridge. I was to believe this was in orginial treatment
plan. A front tooth was chipped in removal of the bridge, which Dr. Burgess denied. Four months later recived a bill for $2, 800 for the bridge. At the time the bridge was replaced I was told I had paid in full. I believe they push so many patients through each day they are prone to mistakes. Aspen wants me to pay for their mistake. I will be joining a class action lawsuit.

credit card reimbursement
After three weeks of phone calls, e-mails and stopping into the office in person Aspen Dental finally credited my credit card. But they still owe me $37.00. I was credited $2090.70 they were supposed to credit me 2127.70. What gives? Aspen Dental you've lost my business and I will spread the word to others that you are not reputable. Credit card reimbursements should be instantaneous just like any other business. Give me my $37.00 back. Not to mention it took the Dentist two hours to pull my tooth. I was not numb enough and was in a lot of discomfort throughout the process. Finally after several injections of novocaine, the last shot of novocaine I felt it go right where it needed to be and she was able to extract the tooth. Who knew it would take two hours to pull a tooth and three weeks to get some of my money back.
extraction, denture, and nerve damage
1. 12/11 first appointment
2. 12/12 second appointment
3. 12/13 extraction
a. Appointment at 3:30 did not get to room until 4:00
b. Received first Novocain shot around 4:30-Dentist left to attend another patient
c. Came back later not sure of time and said I needed a booster without checking, then he left again to attend another patient. .
d. Came back and said I needed another booster, again without checking, then left to attend another patient, twice he would position the overhead light on bright right in my eyes. I tried putting my hand up to cover my eyes and he saw them and said I will fix that in a minute
e. Finally came to do extraction with nurse and said I needed another booster. When extractions were done he said he needed to stitch the left side, during the stitching the suture string was laid all over my face and eyes and it appeared he had difficulty tying the sutures. All the teeth I have had pulled I have never had suture string put all over my face. I could not believe it.
f. The assistant saw that I was shaking and asked if I was ok? She said dr. she is shaking I'm worried, he was not.
g. Then he left and got my temporary, put it in and said, "looks like teeth to me" and he left
h. The assistant helped me to wipe the blood dripping from my mouth and cleaned me up as best she could before I had to walk out to waiting room to leave. I drove myself home longest drive I ever had!
i. I left office around 5:30
4. Numbness in my tongue did not go away until 1:30 am on 12/14 I could not drink without my tongue and I was extremely thirsty tried using a spoon to get some water down my throat but choked when I tried that, just had to wait until tongue thawed. I also had a bloody nose on 12/14 and on 12/14. Never had this before after tooth extractions.
5. Next appointment was on 12/15 had different dentist. I told him I could not wear temporary it did not fit and the front teeth were too long, my teeth had never looked like this plus I could not eat yet, still on broth and could not talk with temporary in. He filed the front teeth down a bit and at least I could talk but still too tall. Plus it did not last so took them out again. There was no one available to adjust temporary due to he was on vacation
6. Then on 12/16 my gums and lip were still numb and swollen, however I could feel something on the right side of my gum with my tongue. It was really bugging me because I could not get it because of the numbness could not feel it when I put fingers in mouth to try and retrieve it. I could not figure out what it could be because I had only been able to drink soup broth, nothing solid. I was still using ice pack at this time.
7. Then at 11:24 I finally was able to get my tongue to pull it up above my lip only to realize it was a suture. I was shocked, did not realize I had stitches in right side. Then at 2:07 it fell out and I retrieved it. I took pictures of this.
8. Next appointment was on 12/19 I had same dentist that did extractions. I was still in pain. I did not have my temporary in again during this visit. I explained again that the temporary did not fit, could not eat yet or talk with them in again. He checked my mouth and said oh well you just had extractions. I could not believe that he could have forgotten that he had done the procedure just 5 days earlier. Then he took the temporary and made some adjustments and I had some type of soft liner put in them. Still the front teeth are too long. I was so upset by then I just wanted out of the office and wanted to go home. I have lost 7 pounds and I am just now (12/26) able to eat soft foods and foods I can squish on the roof of my mouth and swallow.
9. I cannot afford to lose any more weight! Plus I had to take another week off work without pay. I scheduled my last 5 days vacation to have this done. It is not like I have never had an extraction before these were the last 4 teeth I had. My upper teeth were all pulled in one visit and I did not go through this. Plus Aspen pulled my bottom teeth all but these four on one day and I did not go through this. I got a partial and I was very happy with the results.
10. I had to cancel on the Company Christmas Party and on the family Christmas dinner.
11. On 12/29 I had another appointment at which time, Dr. McDonald decided to do a soft lining due to the fact that the temporary denture was so big and not working. He told the assistant that my gums were not healed so they would do the soft liner and then schedule me in to have a new denture once my gums were healed. The pain from this soft lining was excruciating! It burned so bad I couldn't stand it and I had to leave it for 5 minutes. The longest 5 minutes of my life!
12. My next scheduled appointment Dr. McDonald was no longer working at Aspen Dental. I had a new dentist.
13. New dentist next visit. He was very nice and wanted me to bring in pictures when I complained that the denture was not even close to what my teeth normally looked liked. He wanted an idea of what my teeth looked like prior to extractions. I did so. He agreed the denture was totally wrong and said I needed a new denture everything would need to be redone from scratch.
14. New mold was made and new denture was made. The new doctor told me that I could come in on Saturday and they would fix all problems with new denture. I asked him 5 times if the appropriate people would be in on Saturday because in the past these people did not work on Saturdays. Even the Assistant questioned him. But he insisted that everyone would be there. I made sure he knew that I would have to reschedule my Saturday to come in and I just wanted to make sure they would be there. He again insisted they would be. I came in on Saturday and not only were the people who worked on dentures not there but neither was he. I said there was no reason for me to be there and I left.
15. I came in on next visit and was told I had a new dentist. His name was Dr. Chow. The other dentist was no longer working at Aspen. The assistant told me that she tried to tell him no one was scheduled on Saturday but he told her to shush. She asked me if I remembered that and of course I did. She said in all her years working there no dentist had ever told her to shush!
16. Dr. Chow tried his best to make this horrible situation right. Avery, the accountant, and I had several conversations about the bill at this time I had a $281(?) bill. I told her that I was not going to pay for their mistake and I would not pay for balance of the original ($281?) bill until the mistake was corrected. She agreed with me and said she understood completely and would take care of it. At first the bookkeeper would always call me to desk before I left to ask about the bill, I told her she needed to speak with Avery that we had an agreement towards the end they did not even call me to bookkeeper any longer.
17. The pain I was having with this denture just would not go away, it was in the area where the extractions were made. I asked Dr. Chow why I was having this pain. 2 hours after having denture in I was in pain, 4 hours I would have to take an Advil, by end of 8 hours, even with Advil, I couldn't wait to get home to take them out. I do not eat on days I have to physically be at plant or orchards. (The company has allowed me to work from home) They took X-rays to see if I had part of root, or bone fragments left in gums. I did not. Pain was so bad and located where the teeth were extracted, plus I was having trouble with my lip quivering. Dr. Chow said it could be nerve damage, which could go away in 3-6 months, maybe a year and maybe I would have for rest of my life. It has been 9 months and pain is still really bad. I send my assistant to all conventions now, and if I have to take a client or auditor to lunch I do not eat. If I am able to order something soft I sit on outside of table so I go to restroom and put in more Polident. Usually I end up asking for take home container.
18. I kept getting bills and the balance kept going up, I called Avery and was told she was not in. I called back later and was told she was no longer working there. Samantha had taken her place. I asked to speak with Samantha and she wanted to know when I was going to take care of this bill. I asked her to review my file and told her about Avery's agreement with me. She read the file and continued to press me for the money I told her I did not feel responsible for this bill I was still in pain and if I needed to I would seek legal help but I would rather the two of us work this out. I told her my concern was that the bill would go to collection and she told me she would put a hold on the bill and would call to give me update. She never did. I called her 3 times from the end of June to July 12th, she was never in, either with a customer, at lunch or had day off. I received collection notice on 7/27/18. I never received an update and i should not have had to pay for their mistake especially since they said i would not.
I am so sorry for your pain, but this is yet another Aspen Dental horror story.

scam
Hygienist told me she could not perform a regular cleaning, could only perform a deep cleaning which would cost a "little bit more". She also said I needed a crown and a filling, and could schedule all three treatments at once so I agreed. They required partial payment at that time with balance due prior to the treatments. When I returned and paid the balance to the receptionist, I asked for an itemized receipt. She said she would provide that on completion of the treatments. The hygienist then informed me that my entire mouth did not require the deep cleaning, just five spots in the back. On completion of the cleaning, I asked about the crown and filling. She said I was not scheduled for that. When asked what did I just pay for, she said I had only paid for the cleaning and that she knows nothing about prices. She had conveniently forgotten what she had told me on the previous visit about the deep cleaning costing "just a little bit more". I have records of my previous regular cleanings and know the cost, which is FIVE PERCENT of the amount of what they charged me for the deep cleaning. I would never have agreed to pay that much, the only reason I did was that I understood that this amount covered the filling and the crown. When I reminded the hygienist of what she had initially said about the cost, and scheduling the crown and filling together with the cleaning, she and the receptionist (who were the only staff on the premises) both told me I was confused. I am not confused. This was a blatant misleading.
peace of mind promise
My husband and I went to the Alliance, Ohio location to have preventive maintenance done. He needed 6 cavities filled and I needed 8 or 9 cavities filled. The employee gave us each the amount to get ALL of the cavities filled minus my insurance in network discounts minus what my insurance would pay and maybe some other discount for insurance or whatever. My husband's remaining bill was $158 and my bill was $269. I paid in full that day. I should have no remaining bill. My husband had 2 appointments and filled all 6 of his cavities and I had 3 or 4 filled in one appointment. We both were in so much pain, I couldn't even get the remaining cavities filled yet. To this day him and I can't eat on the right side of our mouths. They damaged my molar as well and I can't floss without sharp pains shooting through my tooth.
Now I'm getting a bill for him for $231 and me $75. They say that my insurance didn't pay as much as they thought. How is that my fault! I paid money already and there was no refund? I don't understand how I was supposed to have paid in full for 14 cavities and still owe over $300 when I didn't even have all of mine done! My insurance said they do not pay until the service is done so I have no clue what that office is trying to pull over on me.
Your peace of mind promise says no surprises and when you call the phone message says you don't ever pay more than your quoted. If I Knew the actual price I wouldn't have went to aspen at all. I couldn't afford it. Now, we're both in pain still and it's been like 5 months. The other cavities are hurting so much that I can't sleep, have headaches every day and can't eat very well and I cry from the pain. I have called my insurance and they say that it is your fault and I shouldn't pay you. I am going to use social media to my benefit if this is not taken care of and more.
And just for reference I've had cavities, deep ones at that, filled before and was never in so much pain before.
I went there to get dentures. They pulled 13 teeth in one sitting and did bone graphs. With dozens of stitches in my mouth they gave me nothing at all for pain. Told me to take Tylenol. I’ve never been in so much pain. Then they put my dentures in with blood gushing everywhere and said ok you’re good to go. After all my insurance and paid over $4,500 and it’s been over 3 months and I still can’t wear the temporaries. I’ve went in for numerous adjustments and every time I tell them when I put them in all I do is drool and can’t speak clearly. I don’t have that beautiful smile I was promised. The other day I went in and since I hadn’t tried to wear them in weeks, I opened up the case to find black nasty stuff all over them. Like mold or something. Instead of asking her assistant to clean them she stuck them in my mouth anyway even after she’d seen that I had a couple of scratches on my gums. She said I needed to come back for a realignment
In same situation here, 13 teeth removed. Crammed immediates in my mouth, i did not want immediates, but everyone leaves with a smile crap...I took the horrible horse teeth out due to bleeding etc. Tried putting them in a few days later and the dentures would not even close...A month later went for adjustment, still too large for my mouth. Got a bill today for 3000 grand for the temp immediates even though i financed the entire procedure. Now i am supposed to trust them with the permanants when they cannot make temps. Wish i had done my research, was desperate as i did need teeth removed and did not want any more oral infections! remember the wind up chattering teeth well those look better then the crap made by in house techs. A rip off. Another class action suit should be started
Aspen Dental's Money Back guarantee is a sham. The dentist will keep telling you they will fix the issue but they are just biding time to get you past the 90 day limit on the guarantee.
Take your money and go to a reputable dentist.
non-existing customer service
Aspen dental caused me to lose two healthy teeth. They knew they messed up from the start, but then waited 14 months to finally refund my money? Huh? Then a call out of the blue offering a what? A settlement in the amount of $1 (it was a little more but i'm making a point)? What? Are you kidding me? No aspen dental, I want $5. Ha ha lol roflma ha ha so they say. Guess what? I laughed right back at them and joined b.a. d. aspen dental, keep that $1 you offered me. I'm going to walk away from your blood money, and actually do something to stop you from stealing smiles all across america.
You refused to refund me at the time of the incident which didn't make any sense to give it back 14 months later. Like most other aspen dental victims I have been forced to wait to get the issue done since I wasn't planing on having a simple crown procedure turn into needing an implant or bridge which is what i'm going to end up doing at the price tag of $4500 after all is said and done.

call center gave wrong information and also the service was a waste of time
I called your online scheduling service on Saturday July 21st in a panic because my fiancé had cracked his tooth and needed to be seen right away. The scheduling man was very nice but informed us that they could see him Monday morning and yes could extract his tooth if need be being there was an oral surgeon on staff at all times. We went there (Pittsburgh Mills location, PA) at 8:00 Monday and was basically informed that this was a new patient visit and they would not be able to do any procedures during that appt. I became very upset saying your scheduler said that you would be able to help him which then they miraculously had a cancelation and said that they could. So we regretfully stayed and wasted more time because the doctor said the tooth was infected so they could not pull it-only prescribing antibiotics for 7 days and said to come back the following Monday. I explained my fiancé was in pain and was leaving for a work trip out of town the rest of the week and he needed to get this pulled today or at least a couple pain killers which they also would not prescribe. He is a 49 year old man who would not abuse anything but was just looking for some pain relief. Ok so basically we left there and I called another oral surgeon who was so wonderful to squeeze us in and take care of the problem. They explained that being the tooth was infected, the novicane might not work but the pain he was in at that time was worse. He wanted the tooth out. Aspen Dental didn't even give him the choice. So he was out of pain within a day no help from Aspen. I called to tell them what happened and even though there was no remorse from that office (they said it was all their policies) they could have at least apologised. Therefore, I will never use Aspen Dental again. I know a lot of people and clients and will also share this experience with them. Just a big waste of time!
credit card reimbursement
Was scheduled for a root canal and paid upfront for the procedure. Instead had the tooth extracted. Was told that my credit card would be reimbursed $2127.70 as I paid for a root canal and didn't end up getting one. It's been over two weeks and I have yet to be reimbursed. Called the office with my concern and was told the office manager would call me back. It's been two days and no word. I drove down to the office to speak with the manager and was told my claims were held up with the insurance company. I called the insurance company and they said no claims have been submitted for a root canal. The insurance company said something is not right and its up to Aspen Dental to reimburse me. After I left the office I called them again and shared my frustrations. They said they have submitted a reimbursement and it could take up to three days. But it's already been two weeks since the first time they said the submitted for reimbursement.
employee's
I made an appointment because I had a bad tooth ache. When making the appointment I provided the information regarding the tooth ache/reason for my appointment. When I arrived I was given paperwork to fill out so of course I included the tooth ache as it was the only reason for my visit. I was taken back, my entire mouth was xrayed. I was then visited by several different individuals, none of whom advised me of their name or job title. I was told that my gums are receding, that I have a tooth on the right side that needs capped. What no one did when I was brought to the back was ask me what brought me in on that particular day in the beginning or mention the tooth on the left side of my mouth that was giving me pain. Had they read the paperwork that I had filled out and asked me, spoke to me they would have had my business, as it turned out I got up and left because my reason for being there was not addressed. I later received a phone call from that office asking why i'd left. I explained and the woman told me that they have to take full x-rays etc. #1. No you do not. #2. No one asked me or read my info. #3. My concerns were not addressed. #4. Aspen dental is a money making scam in my opinion.
bad service & attitudes from aspen dental
-Desmond Benford - [protected] ...My billing was almost $6000.00 at kingston pike location.. I was hung up on.. The manager was very rude.. After complaints i was giving a $300.00 credit. Once i called the Kingston pike office i was told there computer only showed a credit of $232.00, which is a difference of $68.00. I have been repeatedly told management would contact me to resolve the issue.. Im wondering why it has taking 2 weeks and counting to put the funds back on my credit card. Plus was told by ms. Andrea the no one can help me in her complaint office. ." its my money and i want it now" .
dentures/pain
was a patient at the Evansville Indiana Aspen Dental, however issues after issues have arrived ever since the start of this.
Back in May, i went and had a consult. I ended up having to have my entire top teeth pulled due to issues with my pregnancy. Every time i would call, i owed a different amount, or my insurance didn't cover this or that, when in fact it did. I actually got my insurance involved. Fast forward, on June 26, 2018 i had a total of 12 or 13 teeth extracted...i opted to go with the most expensive upper denture they had, which i got a temporary plate, however, i have had nothing but problems out of it. 1. It is too big, 2. I dont like it and it is not what i ordered from them. 3. I explained my dismay that it was rubbing my gums, to the response i got was, "it will do that"! I asked them to remake it and i was told, " we are not making it again for you" yet i paid them...a couple weeks ago, i had to go due to the upper denture had cut my gum open and the receptionist said " don't you think you should have discussed this with him at your post op appointment and you would not have to wait" ! Well...i ended up waiting 5 days before i even got in...then i had a bone coming out of my gum and they said, id have to deal with because they couldnt get me in for a month. I chose to go to the Westside location here, dentist got the bone out, called the other day, i have another piece of bone, and i believe some infection. Yesterday i got a call from then telling me they cancelled my appointments and i will no longer be seen there because of my comment about the gut who i caused to have to work. I have not found a dentist, not to mention, i still have have the bone sticking out. Which they were aware of.

billing
Hi, My name is Theresa Smith and my account number is 1361723. I had my teeth cleaned at your 979 Central Ave office in Albany, NY on 1/23/18.. The computers were down that day so I was sent home without going over my bill. The next day I received a bill for $146.00 I called right away and was told my bill would be submitted to my insurance company. I have Delta Dental HMO. I again in February received a bill in that amount and have every month since. I have called both my insurance company and the local Aspen office and after a lot of calls I was told in May that you and Delta were in contract negotiations and I was responsible for $36.00. I should wait for a bill before paying . In June I was billed again $146.00. Called again and told not to worry they (Aspen) would fix it, not to pay anything. Yesterday 7/16/18, I received a collection notice in the mail. I am again in contact with the local office and told again not to worry. I AM WORRIED. I do not want my credit ruined over nonsense. I was never told about negotiations with insurance. The Albany office has not been helpful, courteous or respectful which is probably why I never speak to the same person twice. They change employees quite frequently. I would appreciate some help in finally resolving this matter as I don't want my credit ruined. Thank-you, Theresa Smith
dental surgery prepayment
On June 18, 2018 I scheduled dental surgery for extraction of two wisdom teeth. Date scheduled was 1 month out, July 17. 2018. Insurance authorization was obtained and my portion was to be $850. I was required to prepay it in full before they would even put me on the schedule, and I complied with this demand. One month later when I arrived for the appointmemt I was told there would be a further $250 required to have the surgery. I said I would not pay more above what had been agreed upon. I requested a refund and was told I would have to get it from corporate. Corporate puts me on hold and never returns. It seems I will have to get an attorney.
they didn't do me fair at all
Ok I had a appointment at 145 pm on the 16 th Julie and did not get seem till well over 330pm I was just wanting to find out about my tooth that is missing and they went to how much dental work I needed done I'm at a total loss I left very upsetting and then I had stiches in my mouth already and hook took them out did not ask me at all if I wanted them out now my mouth is in sever pain because of that I'm just wish I never went there I'm in so much pain now I can't eat because of y'all thanks for nothing
My daughter went to another dentist to have 3 teeth pulled; he pulled all of her teeth. Long story. Evil man.
She went to Aspen in North Smithfield, RI for dentures. She was pressured into buying the most expensive dentures in spite of them knowing she is low income. Since she got them in 2017 she has been back to them 6 times to have them repaired or replaced (I advised her to get a printout of all her appointments which she did). I went with her for her last visit after one of the "teeth" had broken off and the dentist tried to gaslight her about how many times she had been in for repairs. She refuses to go back and wants a refund.
I recently got partial dentures from them that are very uncomfortable and I cannot eat with them in. Aspen has "adjusted" them twice and they are still uncomfortable. I just don't wear them.
Aspen needs to be stopped.
Exactly! I have printouts that don't really tell me anything. I made notes as price was discussed, or I would wonder if I dreamt it. Of course, they have no idea what I'm talking about. Oddly enough, I got an urgent vm from the office yesterday. My next appointment isn't until the 26th. Office was closed and I left a message. I started my complaint with the state board and will follow up with your other suggestions. TY. I'm not crazy, I didn't miss something. Unfortunately, since I can't afford to just move on with a better office, I have to finish this. I have no upper teeth.
Sounds like you need to be part f the class action suit. I am dumbfounded that a lawyer wouldn't help you, but now days they cant afford to take on a case where the person your suing has medical malpractice insurance. They want a open and shut case and will drag it out for ever so that isn't an answer. Going public is a good choice and writing your congressional rep and the insurance commissioner would be a good way to start and have a paper trail of action you've taken to remedy the situation. I have a front tooth missing and the office manager told me that the implant would cost me 1800 out of pocket, instead of the 1300 out of picket they first stated. Note that they will give you verbal quotes for high cost procedures instead of writing them down so you have no paper trail to prove what they said.
I am totally sick about the whole thing! I'm 2 months into the procedure. #1 They changed my final product, an implant upper denture, to a conventional denture WITHOUT discussing it at any time, in any way. I was proactive and knew my teeth were losing their grip. I went to Aspen, my insurance approved them, to see what options I might have. The dentist brought out a model of the "snap in" implant and stated that he would recommend, pulling my 8 upper teeth, and replacing them with this product. My teeth weren't bad, no cavities etc. so I wanted to think it over. I decided to move forward. An implant seemed much more acceptable to me and gave me the confidence that it was time to do it. I did NOT have to do anything immediately, but, as I said, I knew the inevitable loss eventually would happen and lets face it, I couldn't just wait for them to fall out one by one. Financing, insurance were done up front. Day 1 remove the 8 teeth, stitch and cover with temporary denture. NO PAIN MEDICATION. Was told to take 2 Tylenol and rotate with Ibuprofen (which I am allergic to). That was cruel! I should have been advised. Day 2, 24hrs later, checked me out, and technician began giving a lot of information about how to wear, use and care for dentures. I stated, well, all of this is worth it, to avoid living with that. She said no, I said yes, she left and returned stating I was right I was getting the implant. #3- 2wks later for soft-liner. Same deal, tech was telling me about the denture, I said no, we just straightened this out. She left returned with mgr and said NO. At this point I have no upper teeth and they have been paid in full. I said lets get this straightened out, she went to her office and explained I could still have it, but Dr. G was no longer with them, and he had been determining how many pins and where, so I would need to see the oral surgeon and pay for the appointment. OK. No appointment was ever made and I was never contacted. I returned to the office to resolve what I was sure was an error. Mgr is defensive, and now states I did not make the appropriate down payment. I had no idea what she was talking about. She repeated I did not pay a deposit for that work. Those words had never been used. I wasn't notified, nothing. Not in my paperwork, or my treatment plan. So, they have been paid in full, by me and I'm not getting what was discussed or agreed upon. I'm having a nervous breakdown over this. They already pulled my teeth. They took away my choice. If a conventional denture was my only option, I would not have moved forward. I'm a 60yr old female, working professional. My speech is hard to understand, I have lost 15 pounds because I can't eat anything. The temporary I am currently wearing, doesn't fit, or work. My lower molars (natural) sit inside this thing and the molars on the denture scrape my cheeks. I cry daily. My current status with regard to my mouth, is consuming my thoughts from the time I get up, all throughout the day until bed. I can't be social, I can't speak clearly without spitting, cant eat anything regular. No biting and only bite size soft chew food. I'm hiding inside and avoiding everyone. These people do not care. It is my position that, they are entirely responsible, have already removed my teeth, took away my right to choose, caused my pain and suffering and should be paid nothing. I should be refunded ALL money, and put a number on ..you took away my teeth- that should pay for ANYTHING I need to complete the correct procedure with another dentist. I would let it go at that, when honestly, they should have a monetary payment to me to attempt to compensate me for all I have been through. I haven't been "injured" physically so medical malpractice isn't appropriate according to an attorney I spoke with. Lol, they took my teeth! So I guess they just lied, mislead and manipulated me...contract dispute? I'm so sick, I can't see another attorney yet. Every time I have to go over it, I'm wacked out all over again. But, I plan to consult another dentist, as well as another attorney. I can't even look in the mirror. Right now, I feel I have no choice but to allow them to see me again and in November see what I get. NO CHOICE! Robbed of the last 2 months and enduring until November for the denture. Then my money back guarantee. I will not keep their denture and I want my money back. The office knew all along what was up. I was the only one in the dark. When did we have to start looking at healthcare providers the same way we do a plumber? Is there no ethics or integrity? I feel like a victim.
I had my teeth pulled including my perfect fully good teeth for dentures and ended up getting osteomylitis, a hospital visit for surgery and then 8weeks of home nursing. Lost part of my jaw. Am now dealing with poor fitting dentures, teeth break off, constantly regluing and have trouble talking to where people ask me to repeat what I just said. To make a horror story worse, the dentist paid me back with a little extra to help with my 75, 000.00 in medical bills, , and I signed a letter that I would not sue this practice, . An then sends me a w-2 with monies paid like an employee so that I would have to pay taxes. This is not legal is it. I have 2 more broken teeth, so am going in today for repairs and some questions. Bet I get the run around or some story that is not in my favor. This was the worst experience I have ever had.!
So sad. Obviously the dentist knew everything he was responsible for and covered himself, allowing you to think he was helping you out. No integrity, no code. But hey, I wouldn't give up. You were played.
I am so sorry for your pain, but this is yet another Aspen Dental horror story.
