I discussed a treatment plan with the office manager. I asked several times if the price she quoted was for EVERYTHING from start to finish. She assured me it was. She had a sample selection of dentures in her office & asked me which denture I was interested in. I selected the Comfy-lights. This was the only time I discussed with anyone the denture I wa...

Aspen Dental false diagnosis

I have never written a negative review in my life but felt like others who are looking for a local dentist or current patients uneasy with an Aspen diagnosis need to be warned. When I visited Aspen for the first time they diagnosed me with early periodontal disease and the dentist said I had significant bone loss. They rushed me in to meet with the Office Manager to discuss my payment plans for the gum treatment. This surprised me as I'm young, have always had excellent gum and tooth health, am very careful about hygiene and hadn't experienced any symptoms. I went to another dentist for a second opinion today. Both she and the hygienist who examined me and studied the x-rays from Aspen said I didn't have any indications of gum disease at all and my bone level looked totally healthy- which was more consistent with my dental history and past visits to other clinics out of state. There were several things that made me uneasy with Aspen during my visit but was still surprised (though relieved) to hear their diagnosis was untrue. I would recommend a 2nd opinion if Aspen suggests you have work done in your mouth!

I as well as told that I had periodontal gum disease. I went there because my top molar was chipped and the filling had shifted and wasn't in place anymore and I was in a geat deal of pain and discomfort, so when the dentist sat me down and started examining my mouth she got the tooth pick or scraper out she placed it in between the gum and the tooth itself and proceeded to tell me that she was checking out my gums and it was just routine and that she shouldn't be able to fit the pick down that far in between the tooth an gum so that's what she was doing, then she started and began to rattle of a number for each and every tooth that she checked "A number system of 1-10, 10 being the worst" then she was done with that part then checked the actual tooth that was in pain and said it should be pulled, that stunk but thats not all she then diagnosed me with periodontal gum disease I was shocked because not more than 3 months Prior I had my other top molar extracted for the same reason, so I declinedand and just had it extracted then called my dentist from before and she said that there was no way i had periodontal gum disease!

Never go here! They tried to push me into a very expensive "deep cleaning". I told them i would wait to see if my insurance would pay for some or all, but that in the mean time i want just a regular 6 month cleaning. I was told that the dentist must decide what treatment i receive. I said i just want a cleaning today. I was told that i couldn't have one, i...

Aspen Dental waiting almost 2 weeks to get in for denture adjustment

I went in to get a new upper plate. It took over a month to finally get the plate, after wearing them for a day a couple of spots of irritation my gums started to swell and can't even drink liquids without pain because of a sharp edge on back of plate. Called to get in for an adjustment and it's going to take almost 2 weeks to get in. I can't wear the plate because it is causing a lot of painful irritation, being on soft food for over a month isn't helping my bowels. I paid them up front over $1, 000 they could at least be able to get someone in sooner for an adjustment so that they can wear their dentures. I will never go to them again for anything again, I will go elsewhere and advise people to not to go to them.

Aspen Dental wisdom teeth

I went to aspen dental and got my wisdom teeth out. I asked them if they would knock me out and they said yes. I get there and they give me laughing gas which didn't help me at all. They might have not even giving it to me it was a waste. Then I felt everything and he wasn't nice about giving the shots. I had it done in October and I'm still having pain. Worst dentist ever !

Aspen Dental neglect/deception

I've been going to Aspen Dental for quite some time since I took the DMO option for Dental for my insurance since their was no maximum to save money for some work I knew I needed done which was the worst decision I ever made. Many dentists don't take this insurance, so I got stuck with a "chain" dentist. I brush my teeth several times a day and floss them alot. I've never had a cavity until 10 years ago and it was minor. When I got my first cleaning and xrays at Aspen Dental, I was told I had 8 or 9 cavities, needed multiple crowns, multiple root canals and a scaling (which I've never needed). They made many BS reasons as to why I"m getting cavities so easy. I was dumb and had all the work done. Apparently I trust people to easy and was gullible. I had the scaling in either August or October of last year (2014). I went in a few weeks ago because I thought I lost a filling, but apparently my tooth broke. I made an urgent appointment because my tooth was so sharp, it was cutting my tongue really bad. The dentist (Dr. Kim), didn't seem to care about that particular tooth and did a full exam and a full set of x-rays. The appointment was not for this whatsoever. She told me I had 8 cavities and needed 4 crowns and 2 or 3 root canals. I'm pretty positive all those problems didn't happen in 6-8 months. I told her this makes no sense since nothing with these teeth showed up on the prior set of x-rays and my teeth don't hurt at all; not even if I have something very sugary. I take excellent care of my teeth so this is when reality set in. I told her I just needed something to be done with the broken tooth to make me comfortable. She had me grab my things and had me go sit with the office manager first to develop a treatment plan for everything listed above which I thought was very odd. At this point the light bulb really went off. I wasted 45 minutes sitting with the office manager to tell me I needed $14, 000 worth of work. I told him I needed to get back to work and asked if Dr. Kim could just put a temporary filling or something in the tooth to stop my from cutting my tongue more than it was. She had 3 different patients she was working with so I'd have to wait awhile. I don't understand why that couldn't have been done while I was already in the room in the chair for an hour for an extensive appointment I never made. Needless to say, I spoke my mind and left. The very next day, more of my tooth broke off and my tongue was cut so bad so I went in just to let them put the temporary filling in until I got back from vacation. Since I was unable to find a dentist who takes my insurance and new patients, I had no choice but to go back. They set up the root canal appointment and the tooth was broken so bad that there may have been big issues with a crown staying good due to the breakage. I said forget it and said I was just going to pull it since it's the bottom very back tooth. I had the appointment yesterday with Dr. Nazeeh to pull my tooth which was the icing on the cake and something needs to be done. He came in and introduced himself and was pleasant. He put novocaine in 8 spots and came back to see if I was numb. He put novocaine in 4 more spots that I fully felt and I told him since I didn't feel very numb. He put something around my tooth and pushed down very hard into my gum and I felt it slice my gum. He started to pull my tooth I raised my hands and my foot and tried to say "Stop" since I could feel everything. He put novocaine in 4 more spots and proceeded pulling my tooth without giving any novocaine time to work. I raised both hands, my foot and everything to get him to stop and he wouldn't. Needless to say, I literally felt the whole procedure and was balling my eyes out like you wouldn't believe. I have a high tolerance for pain and pain never does this to me so that should tell you something. He finished and stitched me up. The stitch isn't even in the gaping hole from pulling the tooth; it's on the side where he cut me with the instrument he was using. He did not say one thing during the procedure at all either which was odd. They usually tell you what they are doing and talk to you. I told him that I felt everything and he walked out of the room without saying a word. His assistant said it was infected so the novocaine didn't work right. No infection showed on the x-rays and Dr. Nazeeh didn't say one word about infection and didn't give my antibiotic or anything. Therefore, I don't believe there is any infection. My experiences at Aspen Dental have been horrible nightmares. Every time I went, I was sent to the waiting room after all the work every time to see the office manager for who knows what. Every single time I waited for her, it was 25-60 minutes. I've never been to a dentist office who operated like this. She would always show up in the room before any work was done, make me waste my time waiting for her after the appointments and trying to steal more money from me on unnecessary work and wasting more precious time. Every 15-30 minute visit was literally 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It's 100% obvious that they are clearly about the money and they seem infamous for deceiving patients. Something needs to be done about this and stop this. I am very traumatized from my experience yesterday and will seek advice. While researching online just now I found thousands of complaints and class action lawsuits for the same exact issues. I really wish I looked this up before. Everyone's stories are similar to mine minus the tooth extraction nightmare that I can't even begin to describe. The pain now is horrific and I haven't been able to sleep or get comfortable no matter what I do or take. The picture below is how it looks today. It was the last tooth that was pulled that has a weird layer of yellowish brown film over the hole and you can see the stitches in the other picture. The film looks like another tooth in the picture, but it is not. Any advice on what to do or where to go with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm not a sue happy person and never sued anyone in my life and am not seeking money, but neglect/abuse and deception with this chain needs to come to an end.

Aspen Dental uncaring, money is only thing discussed

I made an appointment with Aspen Dental understanding that the exrays and cleaning would be fully paid for by Physicans Mutual insurance company. Went for appointment and was told that my exrays and cleaning is far more than a normal cleaning. Had to pay up front a total of $310.00 to get the exrays and cleaning. Got a bill for approx. $8, 000 for completion of work. After one month I broke a tooth. Was told I would have to pay for a visit, more exrays and would be told how much. This outfit is NOT there for the good of people, it is there to take advantage of people who need help.

Aspen Dental have been trying for at least 8 months to get dental aspen to complete my dental implants.

I went to Aspen Dental in 2011 in Lebanon, TN trying to get dental work done. They pulled 2 teeth. I tried for a year to get bridges to fit (that they made) and could not get a good fit. Got my part of my money back from there. Went to their new Gallatin office to see what could be done. Decided to get dental implants. I was sent to an oral surgeon in Gallatin, TN. I have no complaints about him. He had his own practice. All that he did was very good. He got me through bone grafting and post implants. I have now been trying since 2014 to get Aspen Dental to put the crowns on the posts. I have called them numerous times with no satisfaction. I have been to their office several times. I still do not have my crowns. Now the office in Gallatin, TN tells me that the dentist in this office does not do the crowns. I will have to go to Nashville to get it done. I am more than irritated. I am angry! I will not recommend anyone to go to Aspen Dental. If I can find another provider to meet my dental needs and the discount plan I have, I will never go to Aspen Dental again. They are a joke!

Aspen Dental insurance scam

Went in for a chipped tooth, had one similar the year before with my old dentist(we moved out of state). The last dentist was able to do a filling letting me know I needed a crown at some point. This "dentist", was cold, rude, and said all she would do is pull it or do a crown. I tried to ask information and was blown off. Next comes the fun part! I had talked with my insurance company prior to going in and they had even sent me a PDF of my coverage(I pay a flat fee, with things like fillings being covered in full). They sit me down and show me an estimate of my bill, "before in insurance it will be 4500, but after 1500". I said how much is my crown? What all is this including? "This covers everything, all the fillings and the crown(minus the root canal). I pulled out my pdf and none of those numbers matched! She was charging me for fillings, which should be free, the price for the crowns were higher, and nothing was adding up right. I bring this to her attention and she double checks she has the right plan up, which she says she does. I show her the pdf, and she doesn't seem to know what to do, so she says she will need to contact the insurance company and will get back to me in about a week. After about 3 weeks I call back and am told "we are still waiting on that information, but should have it by Monday". Or in other words...we didn't actually do this because you are not giving us good commission. Further, when I asked about preemptively scheduling an appointment for my fillings, she all of a sudden mentions that I need a $300 gingivitis treatment. The dentist refuses to do the fillings unless that is done. I have had gingivitis in the past, and the dentist was able to do the fillings no problem.

Contacting my insurance company if I don't hear back by Monday...

I can tell you lot of ins companies charge upgrade fee for composite white fillings and for crown ins may have given u the cost of the base metal cheap crown. Ins are not in the business of paying for quality stuff. If toy want quality materials they charge u extra. I won't let insurance company dictate my treatment.

Aspen Dental unprofessional treatment

In Sept 2014, I went to Aspen Dental to get my first denture. I was taken to get xrays and then told I needed a full denture top and bottom. Then, the office manager took me in for pricing and told me it was only an estimate. A few days later, I came in and put 2000 down on the total. I received the wrong bill before I even had any work done!I was OK with the first temporary set, but the comfy lites were terrible! The dentist to!d me they looked just fine and wanted me to leave. I was reduced to tears and told her that I could not deal with the teeth. Finally, they called the dentist that had done the surgery and he scheduled me for a new wax try-in and when the second set was done I was told that nothing else can be done for the ill-fitting bottoms.I have written letters and phoned the credit company so many times.Aspen has not helped me with the incorrect billing because of their incorrect promotion code. Account is paid off, but interest was added to 18 mos. same as cash promo. I was told there is nothing they could do it is too late. I have endured so much pain and stress from the event.

Aspen Dental charging for work covered by insurance

Asked them to wait for pre-determination of benefits before doing deep=cleaning of husband's teeth which they agreed to do. However, when he got to the appointment, they told him he has to do this before they would fill the two cavities and it cost $91 even tho the Delta Dental Insurance said it was covered 100%.

I called three times before he went to be sure he was getting the cavities filled. Yet they did not do it. I am pursuing it with Delta and also Visa will receive a disputed charge letter. They totally ignored our requests to wait for the pre-d. We have a thousand dental clinics in our area. We do not need this fast-talk and dishonest treatment of patients.

My daughter went in to have her teeth cleaned. She informed them she had insurance and asked if they used them. Aspen Dental post op care

One of my wisdom teeth was bothering me. I decided to try out aspen dental. I had abscessed wisdom tooth. They put me on amoxicillian for a week for the infection. The day I went to get my tooth pulled, the dentist couldnt find the tooth he needed to pull...? When he found it, he shot me up in my mouth with 3 sets of who knows what. The next day i was coming off of the mouth meds and felt very nauseated, swelling in my face, and hives. Called there to let them know and they said it wasnt caused by anything they did, it was something i did when i left. what BS. They didnt seem to care that they caused an almost deadly allergic reaction to one of their patients.

The problem with clinics of this type is different dentists see so many patients they cannot remember them all and what they need. The business model is based on high volumes of patients.

Sometimes a lot of anesthetics are needed to get teeth numb. There is no mystery about what. 99% of the time it is lidocaine.

You probably were allergic to the penecillin family of drugs. There is no way for them to have known this ahead of time unless you told them.

Often faces swell after difficult extraction that is just a fact of life. Often patients do not eat after surgery, take pain meds on an empty stomach, and get sick.

You would do better in the office of an experienced dentist who owns his own practice.

Aspen Dental unprofessionalism

I want to let someone know about my experience at the SE 14th Aspen dental office in Des Moines, IA. The dental hygienist was completely non informative and had a uncommunicative behavior. I felt that I could have benefited from someone who would have been able to reply to my questions in a professional, knowledgeable manner and at least try to offer helpful advise or hints in a professional cheerful manner. What I got was a sullen uneducated response to my questions, she was slurring her words and gave the impression that she was not even qualified for the position at all. I also observed her and the majority of the staff circling a patient file and making comments and laughing, this is completely unacceptable behavior people have a right to their dignity and privacy and I feel this is a violation of HIPAA! I was completely disappointed with the unprofessional and unknowledgeable staff at this location on August 25, 2014, I have no desire to have another horrendous experience with the quality of people that they have employed at this location and will not schedule any services in the future with this company, I also will forewarn my friends and professional acquaintances of my experience.

These clinics are the bottom of the heap for employees. The sheer volume of patients wear hygienists out. Good dentists and hygienists leave these places for better jobs as soon as they can.

Good patients also leave these clinics as soon as possible. The smartest ones never go to them to start with.

Aspen Dental dentures

I complained about my dentures not fitting.I can't even eat an ice cream cone soft ice cream without having to use fixadent at least 8 times a day.they have tried to adjust them about 6 times and then I am told they can not do anything else. If I knew this was going to be this way I would of never went there.Ypu have on tv a money back garantee and that is what my last resort would be. I ask them if they would put snaps on them and they refused. If you could just have them put the snaps on everything would be fine.I am so tired of carrying fixadent with me all the time it is embarrasing to excuse yourself twice during a dinner to go and put more fixadent on them. The last dentist I saw recommended implants I wish the first would of told me how they were going to fit and I would of went somewhere else which I am doing for my top teeth. Please come up with a solution Thank You

I am not sure what you mean by "snaps". If you have implants in your jaws, they can be attached to the dentures via snap-like attachments. If you do not have implants, this cannot be done.

My guess is the looseness is due to inaccurate impressions. The thing to do is reline them with tissue conditioner first. If this makes the dentures stay up, this tissue conditioner can be replaced by plastic.

Look, the truth is that corporate clinics like this are owned by investors instead of dentists. The young dentists employed there have little experience in dentures. Even if they were experienced, they are not free to use quality labs. Find a dentist with a reputation for honesty and competence in your community that does not work for a crumby corporate clinic.
