Author Reputation Press review: Misrepresentation of services

I was contacted by Brian Lopez of Author Reputation Press in May of 2023. He said that their research firm had found my book "The 365 Day Devotional for Singers and Musicians" and after much consideration of hundreds of books, that mine was one of nine that they would like to present.

The following are copies of emails and responses from me to Brian Lopez.

Brian:

This is Kevin Stout, maybe one of the most unhappy authors you represent. Last May, I listened to your pitch about how poor Covenant Publishing was and how great Author Representation press was, and agreed to sign with you. That was 7 months ago. I have not received one penny in royalties.

What happened to the 7,640 books?

Ingram Spark will produce 7,640 books and distribute them to bookstores location. Your expected amount for direct royalty for $6.00 per book sold would be $45,840.00 Whatever the unsold copies will return it back to Ingram.

You told me that Amazon was holding over $400 in commissions due to me because Covenant had not renewed their license. You said you would get that money for me. Where is that money?

I believe you stated that 98 of the 115 bookstores ordered my book. Where are the sales from that?

Brian:

So far in these 7 months, I have invested $3,860 and I have nothing to show for it. I demand this money be returned to me and to cancel our relationship. You misrepresented your company and your abilities to me.

If I do not receive a refund of $3,860, I will pursue every available remedy. I will also make it a point to advise any potential author of what your company promises and what it actually delivers.
