authorhouse book publishers
Published with Authorhouse back in 2014 and received only one royalty check for 99 cents. Ridiculous. Always telling me the book wasnt selling enough copies to receive a royalty check. I dont beleive them. Never have gotten anymore checks. Fraud company to be sure. This publisher takes money from me the author and promises you it will be a big hit in the book market stores. They do not respond to questions of how many of your books they have sold or when you can expect another royalty check. They just want you to order books on your on to sell yourself or pay for more advertising. They really talk a good game and mess with your head that your book is the greatest but after they publish it which matter of fact was a lousy job of color and print you never hear anything back from them about how your book is doing in the bookstores. Could have sold a million copies for all I know but me the author as of 2019 has received only 99 cent! Stay away from them .

very bad client service
Despite being a client for AuthorHouse many times. Every time they try to make extra money from mistakes in figures clarity after printing. The staff and / or the company doesn't appreciate at all the coming back clients. Delivery is always late. The marketing team they try only to get you chained with more contracts.
Worse you can't reach the staff top management.. they kept barriers to ensure they don't hear their client services.
publishing
My book was created fine last year. HOWEVER they made the pricing too high for a children's storybook. No one will pay $20 for a book. I asked if it could be changed and they said no. They said it was determined by the number of pages BUT, at no point did they tell me that. I would have taken away two pages. I spent a lot of money for a book I can't sell.
book publishing
I paid $600 for the basic package and just when I thought my book was being set up at he printers for publication, I have been ghosted by Authorhouse. No communication, emails, or answered phone calls. They took my money and ran. I have no expectation of getting my money back but will not spend another dime on this scam. At this point I'm just trying to get...

I don't use the service and want it Stopped! My name is Bryan Smith, my books published by Authorhouse are Funumbers and Geological History of Yosemite Lakes Park.
trying to my get my cookbook new groove fusion publish
author house is a scam I have been dealing with them for 151/2 years from 2003 to present. Trying to get a cookbook publish
called new groove fusion cookbook I have been through 12 to 16 account managers manuscripts lost or misplaced. Galleys are filled with misspellings "Typo's" some parts of the manuscripts are missing. Bad editing old manuscripts are mixed with new. So I send my new account manager at that time Mae Parton the corrections by mail and some by email. Then she tells me the corrections will cost me $100.00. When I call her to check on how corrections for the cookbook are going. So she told me I had to pay author house $100.00 before they could move forward with the corrections. So I paid the $100.00 to author house then Mae Parton sent me the galley for my cookbook by email. And I take a look at the galley at the cover of the cookbook and inside the cookbook. And it's all wrong there are " Typo's" recipes are missing in the book. There are names of recipes on the cover of the cookbook that are not in the cookbook. So I call Mae Parton to tell her about what happened. Then she tells me this next round of corrections will cost me another $125.00. And this is after I just gave author house $100.00. Then I told Mae Parton I am not going to pay another $125.00 for corrections. And then I told Mae Parton to have the person who was in charge of my cookbook. To give a call and nobody never did. Then in the fall I get a call from author house and I told her what's been going on. And I told her about the corrections that I paid author house $100.00 for. And I told her that I have been dealing with Mae Parton and I told her about the corrections costing me $125.00. Then I told her that Mae Parton sent me a galley of a cover of book that was suppose to be my book but it was a different book not mine somebody else's book. Then she told me that Mae Parton no longer work for author house. Then I told her I have all the emails and galleys sent by Mae Parton. And then she said she would check it out and that was the last time. I heard from author house and this was in the fall. Now it's past the Christmas Season fifteen half years going sixteen years and no cookbook. I spent $4000.00 I want my manuscripts back and a refund all author house did. Was to scam me out of money it doesn't take 15 1/2 years to do a cookbook. l Also I had filed a complaint with BBB of central Indiana complaint number 121 on 6/16/2017 about the problems I was having with author house and author house told BBB that I had changed my phone number and they couldn't contact I never did change my phone number. So author house told BBB a lie [protected] [protected]@aol.com
book: "forgotten lost and hidden america"
Author House publishing gave me an offer I couldn't refuse to publish a second book for me title Forgotten Lost and Hidden America for $580.00, after submitting my manuscript and a partial payment of $300.00 dollars they renege on the agreement, by request to get proof of all the characters in my story, then refuse to publish or give me money back.
I spent some £1, 200 on my book, and every so often I would get a hard sell: "only $200 dollars to get excellent quality business cards printed" _ I never use any, same with bookmarkers;
"we can't print books on jpg files, you have to change to Word 365". Many months later I submitted it again, then:
"for only £4, 000 we can have your book reviewed in 4 of the top magazines in the USA" (my book is about a small town in Scotland!)
"we do things professionally here, so you have to take all the pictures out and number them, same with the text, same with the illustrations";
months later, "we do not use Gmail here, you will have to buy the paid version"
"we will reconstruct your book professionally, but any mistakes we make are free for the first 30, one dollar each after that";
then: "in the text there are some copyright problems, you will have to reconstruct the text"
and finally, "we can't print A4 landscape, reset it in A5 upright" there are many maps which can only be printed landscape.
I might add that I was a professional linotype operator/computer operator/foreman for over 25 years in the printing trade and eventually got the book printed locally, and they did a magnificent job.
no refund forthcoming after cancelling a publishing package.
A quote was received to publish my second book "My Zimbabwean Odyssey - The Sequel" in September 2018.
The fee was to be paid in three instalments ie:-
17th September, 17th October and 17th November 2018.
However, because AuthorhouseUK could not produce the 8" X 5" size of book required with colour inserts, wanting instead to produce an 8" X 8" square "childs" colour book, the package was cancelled on the 6th November and no manuscript was ever sent to them.
This was well within the 90 day cancellation time frame but they still took the final instalment from my bank account ten days later on the 16th November 2018.
To date, despite many e.mails, no refund or an explanation as to why it's not forthcoming, has been received.
In all, it has been a totally stressful, frustrating and expensive experience.
I for one have lost all faith and trust in AuthorhouseUK and
the future of my first book, "My Zimbabwean Odyssey" currently with this publisher, now has to be re-considered.
print on demand, book publisher
Greetings,
I published a book with Authorhouse in 2015 and was not satisfied with the accountability in sales, royalties, and finished product. (Rogue Journey) After months sales took place without feedback to the author and also over the course of years. The book was also sold in the U. K. where it was first published. The book is still available in some outlets. I believe on consignment.
Last year. I withdrew the book from Authorhouse and Amazon distribution after complaining to the Better Business Bureau in the publisher's home state, but the matter has not been resolved.
This Public submission Is to anyone interested in forming a Class Action Suit against the publisher?
Apparently once a book is published it lives forever on the sales outlet shelves, is sold, but Authorhouse keeps the royalties over the years which can be and often are with time, significant. In example: Grandad writes a memoir which at first sells well, and then Grandpa dies or the old guy forgets, the family forgets about it, but the bio keeps on occasionally selling on consignment, and over a short or long period sales records go unreported and disappear. Where does the residue royalty go? [protected]@Yahoo.
Dear Mr. Miller, please feel free to contact our Royalty Help Desk at RoyaltyHelpDesk@authorsolutions.com. They will be able to provide you with the relevant information.
book publishing

I do not want them to still my copyrights by using an isbn number, my name is adrian w loomis iii please call me at [protected] I can explain more it is a long story. Thank you.
Dear Mr. Loomis, thank you for your message. It was forwarded to Customer Service, and we believe the issue is being resolved or has been fully resolved. Please let us know if we can be of any further help. We're sorry you had a poor experience with us.
self publishing scam authorhouse
In 2009 and 2010 I published two different books with Authorhouse
I know that the books have had reasonable sales yet I have still not received my royalty cheques.
I have sent over 200 emails and they say they cannot pay me as I do not have a UK bank account. Why would I when I live in New Zealand?
I have files of their lies but what can I do? One of my books they say is in the name of another person when clearly I wrote it as its nonfiction.
It has been the worst experience I have ever had with a business and it's unbelievable that they get away with it

royalties
By now I am sure it is quite clear to anyone that Authorhouse is a wildly disreputable company. With the thousands of complaints and the pending class action suit filed in New York, no one should ever consider using them as a publishing tool.
In 2009 I did just that. They charged me jus $800.00 US and in the end published my book using a preliminary unedited draft. They said they would change the content for an additional $200.00 US. I declined and sent them a cancellation order in May 2011. That should have been the end of it. It was not.
In mid 2016 I came across my book for sale at Barnes and Noble so I contacted Authorhouse and asked them if this book was still for sale. They said yes and aimed a sales consultant at me. I could not believe it was still being sold since I received $0.00 in royalties during those five years.
I asked for a full accounting of these royalties and I was surprised to find that there was almost $100.00 US in royalties at $1.82 US per book. (The book sold for around $35.00 US)
In February 2016 I asked for those royalties to be sent and they told me that their accounting department would have to investigate to see whether or not each royalty check sent to me, was cashed or not. In the interim (today is March 4th 2018) I have received nothing, and all I have been told via email is that the accounting department is working on it.
I will say that if I had an accounting department that incompetent, I would fire the lot of them. 13 months later and a second cease publication order. I find that the book is STILL being sold. I know because I just bought one.
So if anyone is still thinking of using Authorhouse to publish their hard work - their intellectual property - stop! Do not use Authorhouse! You are simply throwing your hard earned money and your Intellectual Property away. Research the publishing industry and inform yourself about the scams out there. There are good companies that will actually aid you in the process. Authorhouse is not one of them.
services of illegal pulling money off of my credit card without my permission
I had AuthorHouse Publishing for my Service of Publishing my book' I was to make payments and my first payment was posted a month ago' The year of 2018 I was to make another payment as I was going to just pay the whole amount and be done' I gets a text from my Credit Card that I had just paid off, that I now had a balance due! I was so upset because I was not going to use that card any more because of the interest' I was going to pay it off with another card' I immediately checked it out! And AuthorHouse without my permission took a payment out plus some other person that I had no knowledge of that works with AuthorHouse that had taken $9.99 Now these peoples I had no knowledge of period! Why would I pay someone else anything if I was paying AuthorHouse? Their Name is ALC' They was to refund my money and of yet they have not!
Authorhouse has been RUDE & NASTY! That man that is named Christopher Collins Ext 7205 Should be FIRED! ASAP! The contract as he stated said they was to keep $150 if I Cancelled! But I wouldn't had cancelled if they didn't pull my money out without my permission! That was their downfall and illegal act that caused me to run from them! I want ALL MY MONEY BACK ON MY CARD
I DO NOT WANT TO EVER, EVER HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH AUTHOR HOUSE PUBLISHING EVER, EVER AGAIN! I WANT ALL MY MONEY FROM BOTH PARTIES OF AUTHOR HOUSE. They are a Publishing Company that I wouldn't recommend my enemies to have! They do not try to even fix their mistake just want to grab $150 and many times more of your money for to keep them open! They need to SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY they are LIARS & CONS and yes I am still looking into suing them for going and pulling money out without my permission!

Last year I published a book with Authorhouse for which I paid a huge sum for so-called "promotion." More than a year later, I never received any royalty statement, which any publishing company is supposed to do.
I then submitted another book for which I paid over 3000 dollars as a first downpayment. Before they did any work on this book, they told me that I needed written authorizations for each picture included in it. I told them I wasn't able to do so and I arranged to have the book published elsewhere. Despite countless e-mails and although no work whatsoever was done mon this book they never refunded me my money.
Hello, and thanks for your message. Please feel free to contact our Royalties department directly, at RoyaltyHelpDesk@authorsolutions.com .
Hello, I just published a book, It seem that I am going through the same thing. I tried a number of times to check the funds on the books I have sold. I think I will get out before it is to late. I think it is a scam and a rip off. We as writers need to come up with a system, to where we control our own books from start to finish, then do what it takes to get them sold.
publishing my book
My email is [protected]@outlook.com Keep well clear of Author house they have cheated me out of over $2000 by not doing as I wanted, I'm from Sydney
If they were to pull the same stroke in Sydney they would be put out of business and their Publishing Manager Jud Cure whose from India locked up, she's a liar and a cheat of the first order I wrote a book called The Big Mistake and needed it published I turned to Author House, but they weren't doing as I wanted and despite different questions I would ask them from time to time I could never get a straight answer from anything I asked Jud Cure.Somebody needs to put a stop to these people, what I don't understand is why the authorities haven't put a stop to this company cheating people out of their money Geoffrey Hicks
Overcharged me for marketing services
During July 15 2014 My book of poetry called Inspiring Thoughts was published by Authorhouse to be sold on Amazon. I signed an agreement to have my book advertised in the September's 2014 issue of Reader's Digest but to my surprise I paid almost $7, 000.00 to have an 2 inches by 2 inches ad placed which I was dissatisfied with after I saw it, that is, the ad in Reader's Digest. Today I've to believe I paid too much money to place such a small ad in this magazine. When sales didn't happen because of poor advertising on Authorhouse part one representative of this publishing company called me to tell to do ad in Time Magazine costing another $7, 000.00. The point I am trying to make is why didn't use Time Magazine first because I was told I would get a full page for my book Inspiring Thoughts. I definitely believed I was scammed out of almost $7, 000.00 by Authorhouse.
unprofessionalism
I signed a book publication contract with AuthorHouse in 2012.
Since then, problems have been dogging the project.
Micheal Pyles, who is in charge of sending me free copies, has never responded to my emails when I asked him why I could not have a say on how the copies are sent if I have to pay about $200 for the mailing costs.
I filed a complaint with AuthorSupport, which took weeks to respond to my emails. It often took weeks for AuthorSupport to give me a reply.
Merly Delicano, my coordinator, took weeks even months to respond to my emails.
I pointed out the problem to manager Headley-Jerome, who said: “We are not sure how we could have acted more appropriately.”
My new coordinator, May Alvarez, suddenly ignored my emails.
I pointed out the problem to Tim Mendoza, production supervisor, who avoids addressing my complaint.
AuthorHouse employees are unabashedly shameless. Instead of offering an apology and trying to improve its services, a senior employee, Adrienne Scherschel, senior Author Satisfaction researcher, asked me to not rehash what had happened and to move on.
I finally reached the point where I said enough is enough. I took the monetary loss and moved on.
The USA has some of the best business schools in the world. The Authorhouse employees do not even have an ounce of business etiquette. They do not even know that before they are businesspeople, they have to be decent people.
AS OF APRIL 6, 2010 BARNES&NOBLE HAS REMOVED SEE ALL RATINGS FROM ITS WEB SITE, IT SHOWED THE RATINGS OF YOUR BOOK AND HOW MANY WERE BEING DELIVERED, THIS HAPPENED ONE MONTH AFTER KEVIN A. GRAY POSTED HIS STATEMENT ABOUT AUTHORHOUSE ON THE COMPLAINTS BOARD.
I HAVE SELF PUBLISHED MY POETRY BOOK THROUGH AUTHORHOUSE IT IS CALLED BRICKS OF ILLUSION IT IS DOING WELL YEY ON MY ROYALTY STATEMENT NO SALES ARE SHOWING UP AND I HAVENT RECIEVED A PENNY !
I published a book titled The Capture of Osamabin Laden by authorhouse in 2007. I received royalties for 2007 and 2008 but no royalities for 2009 or 2010. I thought maybe that my book was just not selling because of the recession, but know after reading other comments, I am not too sure!
I agree, but how can we when they have figured out how to cheat people legally?
I too have been taken by Authorhouse. I urge anyone and everyone to contact al Federal agencies that deal with the type of fraud this company has and is practicing. If enough people complain, just like the squeeky wheel, Someone will finally shine a light on corrupt publishing companies like Authorhouse.
I've just recently been told that I'm only getting 1.00 per book. I have found a lawyer!
Yes I have also self published my poetry book It's About To Get Loud Collection through Authorhouse.
I agree with everyone's comment Authorhouse is a scam .
