When I politely explained that I couldn't afford to pay for their publishing deal (And that theirs was the most expensive I'd gotten) he told me I'd never get published and hung up on me. Then I called another employee and told them what happened, she just tried to get me to do a deal with them too. Their customer service man I got through to was seemingly so fed up of his job. I got told Id be contacted by their manager to make my complaint - I haven't. I've scorched their 'reputation' online and got a response saying they'll deal with his manager, but ultimately this entire company is one big scam. Do not do it!
My book publishing
been approached by Westwood Books Publishing after being scammed by author house. Author house did the same thing. I have never made a single penny from author house. It cost me £3000.00.
Every day I get an offer from Westwood Book. They are all scammers. My book is still on Amazon. Having been victim of a scam, I bought all the printing equipment to do it myself, I am going to launch my own television to sell my brand and sell my book there

Author house
Please please please do your research before signing on with this company! I have been self-published through them for 6 years now, have not received any calls other than through the marketing department to have me pay more money for their services when I've already invested $7-8,000 with this company (if not more) and have yet to receive a royalty payment in 6 years! Every single time that quarterly payments are supposed to be sent out, there's always a reason as to why I never get my royalties!
Desired outcome: Pay the royalties that I am rightfully due

My Wife, Linda Worthington wrote a children's book, "The Reindeer who flew to Earth". Which she sent to Authorhouse in the USA back in 2020/21. They eventually agreed to publish and market, but required a £1000 for illustration.
Foolishly, my wife agreed to this, which, in my opinion, became a vanity project.
At the end of 2021 my wife became seriously ill and the book was not high on my agenda. And all emails communicationshave been lost. At no time have Authorhouse have not been in touch. Having read the complaints It is not surprising.
I assume that my wife is like a lot of authors who have been conned and have been unable together any straight answers. I am sure my wife is not owed any royalties as her book. in all probability, did not see the light of day in any retail outlet.
I hope this will serve as a warning to would be authors.

My book author house published
In January 2023 I paid around $2,000. for my book to be edited and printed. Then they needed an additional $1,200. to be edited the "correct" way. The next few calls were suggesting that my book would be a great movie but for an additional $5,000. they hire a screen writer, an agent in Hollywood and I sent the money. My book was released on May 11, 2023. Then I noticed on several sales, my pen name NANCY HARPER, but it wasn't me. It was a different NANCY HARPER and it said this is her second book. No, it's my first book. Then they told me my big sales launch will be in August and again I paid 2 payments of $2,800 and now they are calling for a third pay which I don't have. Hey told me to go and get a cash card and make payments when I can. I said no and they keep saying that they're working on a different plan to "help" me. Hen I got a bad review on Amazon that said,"great story but terrible editing." When I carefully went over my book I found at least 22 major issues. I told them and they had ME write down the errors, fix them and send it to them. I feel so sad and angry that I fell for their trickery. I told them to pull my book.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund. I am 74 ,finally finished my book,REFLECTIONS: MURDER AT THE BEACH. Now scammed.
Royalties
I reached out to them about royalties because I recently had a couple friends tell me they ordered my book. After talking to them that told be that some of my royalties are dated too late to receive payment. The royalties were between [protected]. They claim they sent checks to my old address but I never received them. They also stated they will not be reissuing checks even if they can verify they were not cashed. Adrienne Scherschel, their royalty specialist is very rude it’s shouldn’t matter how long it’s been if it’s my money. Because they sure got theirs. I will never use them again. They are too expensive as is and to keep someone’s money is cruel. They owe me money from this year and last as well and that’s within time period so what’s the excuse for that?
Desired outcome: Get paid
AuthorHouse published my book in 2003 and I've never been paid.
AuthorHouse published my book, "Shadows of the Past" (Hilda St. James) in 2003 and I've never been paid. The company is still printing and selling my books on Amazon (Canada, UK, Japan, Australia) Barnes and Nobles, Chapters Indigo, and through other booksellers. New and used books are available on the websites of the booksellers mentioned. I called several times and was told that they no longer print and sell my books. However, today, April 25th 2023, a representative from AuthorHouse called and asked me if I'd like to buy copies of my book. I'd like them to pay me my royalties. My email is : [protected]@hotmail.com.
My isbn is:978-[protected]
My book is registered at House of Congress
Desired outcome: I'd appreciate a response and I want my royalties.

The Editing Department
I paid AuthorHouse to edit my manuscript, but they destroyed it, so I had to pay someone else to re-edit it. I asked for my money back and they told me it was over 90 days, and I could not get it back. It was over 90 days before they sent the manuscript back to me. I have given them over $4000 to destroy my manuscript. One person told me that there was nothing wrong with a few mistakes. She said books are published every day with mistakes. I read all the time and I've never read a book with that many mistakes.
Desired outcome: I would like my money back
My book
I put listed with these guys in 2019 I was just from high school till today I no longer receive a word from them and they are busy chow our royalties.
My dad had to take his savings and we all had to suffer the consequences as they kept calling weekly to collect money from us for so called "marketing and putting us to bigger boards in new york". I went through depression and as a min9r author from south africa with my non fictional novel that they promised to edit since we paid f9r editing while they haven't! Later we were told to pay extra to edit the book and republish it...
As we speak, i'm still stuck in the past with finished and unfinished manuscripts which i'm not willing to publish until I get my royalties from first book I published with authorhouse.
Publishing
A month ago I wrote a complaint about royalties not being paid by AuthorHouse, but there were other concerns as well, some of them very grave. Rigth now my main focus is on how one of my children's books, namely "The Naughty Peteyboy, Sonya and the Magic Word" (2011), literally was kidnapped and held at a ransom of £299 before it, without my consent or even my knowledge, was "cancelled" or as I call it "murdered".
When I asked AuthorHouse whether it was true or not that this particular book, which I thought might be sold out, at one point had been turned into an ebook this was confirmed in an email from an AuthorHouse employee. However, at the same time she told me that my book had been "cancelled", both as a saddle-stick paperback and as an ebook. Presumably the reason for this unforeseen murder of a book I HAD PAID TO GET PUBLISHED was that I didn't reply to an email offer of re-publishing it for £299, but this time as a "perfect binding paperback". Actually, I never received that email and I was not aware that my book had been "cancelled", but I noticed that it had become very difficult to find and buy at e.g. Amazon. No matter what, nothing in my contract with AuthorHouse gives this publishing house the right to kill my book, but everything about this issue speaks "fraud", "crime", and "breach of contract".
It's a tragic irony that at the same time as I was told of the murder of my book I was approached by an American movie production company which felt that my book might make a nice children's movie. We are still negotiating, but I for one feel that no matter the outcome this is some sort of rehabilitation of my murdered book.
Desired outcome: Yje LEAST they can do is republishing my book at no costs for me
Last week I received a link from AuthorHouse that presumably would solve part of our many problems. Was I surprised when this link didn't work because my password - which worked on their website! - didn't work with the mysterious link? No, knowing AuthorHouse the way I do means knowing a large parts of their tricks and this link was just one of them ...
Publishing
My manuscript was 'accepted' for publication and I was quoted an upfront payment of $6000 dollars for my book to be published. After doing careful research online I discovered that AuthorHouse are just vanity publishers who charge exorbitant fees for a self-publishing service. I found a company in the UK who helped me to publish my book on the Amazon bookstore for just £245 in14 days. A1 Book Publishing UK always responded to my email queries on the same day and were there for me from A to Z.
Publishing company
I've published several books with AuthorHouse, and I know of people who have bought a copy or more of my books. That's strange as I've never - as in NEVER! - received any royalties.
Recently I wrote AuthorHouse about one of my children's books which seems to have sold out: "The Naughty Peteyboy, Sonya, and The Magic Word". I know it has sold, but, as I said, I've never har any royalties.
I want to know what AuthorHouse intends to do about this book, but they ignore me and my questions.
I should add that part of this problem was due to AuthorHouse refusing to pay me my royalties using my PayPal account. Their reason for this decision escapes me even today. However, now and then they sent med small amounts by cheque which proves that I did sell, even though I wasn't a "best selling author". These cheques were too small for me to cash in on as the costs of transferring them to a Danish bank would cost me more than they brought in. This problem might have been solved by using PayPal, but no, they refused to do so, over and over.
Sound the trumpet
I am Mr. Allie Smith the author of a book entitled as "Sound the Trumpet" which is yet available for sale via Amazon for approximately £16 and have made complaint against Author House since 2020 for fraudulent publication. I was never paid any royalty between 2014 and 2022. I had also request for Sound the Trumpet not to be produced, circulated and sold. But Author House is refusing to since Sound the Trumpet is yet being sold online, and, therefore; I require £50,000,000.00 from Author House by reasons as above stated herewith. It appeared that Amazon is being used for online fraud so that Amazon be made liable for internet fraud whereby Amazon should be fined 100 billion British Pound Stanley. Accordingly, the below evidence of internet fraud is reason both Author House publishers and Amazon online retailer to meet the above stated financial remedies in quantum meruit which will be due financial compensations for recognised states under the UN Charter for state recognition indeed:
