I ordered a sofa, chair and ottoman in oct 2006. It was a special order. They delivered at the end of jan 2007. Chair was damaged. There was a small hole in the fabric on the top of the chair. I accepted it (Which I know now I shouldn't have done) and called the store right away. The manager said new fabric would be ordered and the chair would be fixed. Well, the fabric came in and it was wrong. Well of course the company that made the chair doesn't make that fabric any more. So she (The manager/owner) with such attitude said come in and pick out different fabric and we'll get you a new chair. So we did. Delivery was june 2. He was a half an hour late. Came by himself, so my husband had to help him bring in the chair. Well, they lifted the chair and my husband noticed that their was a rip on the bottom. My husband said he wouldn't accept it. The guy said "we can fix that". My husband said "no way". He took the chair and the other chair. Now we have nothing. Called the store right away. She (Store/owner) said after first saying she was very busy, they would credit our credit card because there was no pleasing us. Wow!
Will never, ever step foot in that store and have told everyone who will listen to me my story.
I had the same experience. They are nasty, nasty people, especially Maureen, the owner.
I have told everyone I know about the horrible customer service and home that people will heed my warning: Bilt Rite Furniture is condescending, rude, and doesn't deserve to stay in business.
Biltrite is a great store with great customer service. There are furniture factories and stores that are going out of business like crazy. So, stores like Biltrite that have continued to carry American furniture are Great. We should support them and not criticize them. Be frustrated with a factory that made something wrong, not the store that you bought it from and is working with you to solve the problem!
I have bought a lot of furniture from biltrite. I had a problem, and Maureen, part of the family who owns the store came to my house which was over 50 miles away so see it herself, and then got parts to solve it. I have made several purchases since, because I was totally impressed that the owner of a store would come to my house herself. Nothing comes perfect anymore, so when you can get someone from a store, let alone the owner to listen to your problem, and then to help you out, and even come to your house, that is great.
We have to support locally business who carry American furniture, and stand behind it like Biltrite. If your car has a problem, it gets fixed, and good service is the reason you return. It sounds like Biltrite gave back the money to Susan when she was unhappy, and too unreasnable to have something corrected, so I do not understand why she is complaining that the furniture was taken away, and she got a full refund.
We all know people that can never be pleased, anyone reasonable would appreciate the service that is outlined in the complaint and appreciate Biltrite, not criticize it.
We are having the EXACT same issue with BiltRite. Furniture came with a rip in the fabric 9 months ago! Customer service rep Maureen came out and said it would be taken care of; they would replace the fabric.
We should have refused the whole order then. 9 months later, despite consistant "I'm Sorry" messages, we have no resolution.
This is a company that does not understand customer service. I agree with buying American furniture, but how is this worth anything more than the crap Ashley sells if they won't stand behind it.
I agree, I bought a table from crappie built wrong, and the table started having issues. I called and talked to Maureen, this lady has some issues, she told me she was the cs and that was it and she could not do anything for me, then I find out she is the owner. My wife went on a review site for built rite and wrote a review, well Maureen went on the site and called my wife a lier, and that she did not know what she was talking about, we were horrible to work with, and all we asked for was someone to come and look at the table to tell us what we need to do to fix it. Built rite is a horrible place and needs to be shut down, I hate this place and hope it goes bankrupt.
I have been a customer of Biltrite since before their present location. I have purchased 2 chairs, a sofa, 2 end tables, a curio cabinet, an entertainment center, a desk, a bookcase, a chest of drawers, a coffee table, a nightstand, and yesterday took delivert on an entire bedroom suite. I have never had a single problem with any product and certainly not with Maureen, Randi, or anyone on the staff. Biltrite is the only place I will purchase furniture.
I just purchased an entire living room of furniture from Biltrite -new store is in my neighborhood. Gail, the buyer, spent hours (total after my numerous visits there to get things just right) helping me select styles, fabric, even furniture leg finishes. She was never pushy and knows her stuff. I bought Smith Bros. American made, Amish upholstered sofa, 2 chairs, and leather swivel chair. Everything arrived immaculate, perfect, on time...great service. Just remember that many reviews are posted by buyers who can't be pleased (be it a furniture store, restaurant, car...).
The customer service is awful! Whatever happened to the customer is always right?! Got a chair from here as a gift, and we discovered some issues with it when we received it. They won't even consider giving us store credit. Definitely don't recommend shopping here because you are stuck with anything purchased here, even if there's a problem with it.
Oct 2014
I bought a mattress and box spring. The delivery team was prompt and phoned ahead as requested. They were familiar with my greenfield complex and were in and out in 10 minutes The price and financing were just what I needed
No problems!
I will be back when I need more furniture

I can only surmise that these complainers were difficult and unreasonable with their situations from the get-go! I have visited BiltRite on numerous occasions and always treated with dignity and professionalism! My husband used to have a saying, "Sometimes, even FREE is too much!" I anticipate these folks would still have a gripe if their furniture came to them for free! BTW, does anyone agree that it's about time to remove the gripe from 2006?! For cryin' out loud! It's 2021! Move along!
