airconditioner and toiilet
Response from branch manager is unacceptable. After paying the full yearly amount, I called for a repairman to fix my airconditioner and they wanted a $10.00 extra fee for having a repairman come to my home. Where is this in the contract...I paid it the first time and never again after that. I don't want a refund but I want this company to adhere to the rules and not scam the customers who did pay this extra charge. I will definitley never use them again.
Desired outcome: I'd appreciate a response.

A/C repair
I had a very unpleasant conversation with Steve Ferguson from Broward Factory Service, complaining about the service I received on 6/16/22. A service man named Joe, took one look at my A/C, saw that the low side exit was frozen and said the coils were leaking. He then said the system was shot and had to be replaced inside and out, heating and cooling, and gave me a quote for said system of $9,744.00. He injected some refrigerant into the unit to give me some cooling for a few days until I could replace the system. I was not happy that no repair options were offered (which they usually do), so researched repairs on YouTube and found many ways to fix it for less than 7% of that price. A product called EasySeal from NuCalgon had over 200 5 star ratings on Amazon dating back to 2019, so I bought it, gauges to measure pressures, an IR temperature thermometer and refrigerant. It took me a few hours to clean the fins, inject the easy sealant and recharge the system and it is fine. I asked for reimbursement for these out of pocket expenses since BFS did NOT offer me any options for repair which they are obligated to do and normally do. Ferguson got very nasty and said he would not reimburse me anything and no longer wanted my business. It will be interesting to see if they will refund the balance of my contract. On simple low cost things BFS was OK, but watch out for anything expensive, like an A/C as they won't touch it. So what good is their contract? CAVEAT EMPTOR!
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for expenses I incurred to repair unit myself and refund of my maintenance fee on prorated business.

WORST service, left us with NO ac, didnt take care of problem, tried to interfere in other issues without reason, no apologies
BFS has some of the WORST service you can imagine. We had a broken AC or it wasn't working..called the stupid techs to come- yes they came everytime but the problem was-- they did NOT do their job at all. They claimed our breaker wasn't working so they ordered another one-- came back and replaced it, however, once it was replaced--the AC unit was still acting weird, and kept not working or tripping. The stupid BFS tech kept coming and because the ac happened to be working the time he came, he acted as if there was no problem and disregarded it all. What a PROBLEM this was-- he NEVER took care of the problem or cared...just came, said it was working and left...in the meantime we were stuck with NO AC for about TWO weeks...it was ridiculous. The tech came at least 3-4 times or more... also the tech came and there was a small bee nest on top in front of my doorway...the tech came IN my place with bee spray-- without even ASKING? tehse stupid techs think its OK to walk into people's homes with chemicals without asking them...my household members are VERY allergic to chemicals liek that and i was very upset that the idiot tech would even THINK of bringing it inside...
later when the idiot techs FINALLY came back, two of them...they figured out the problem...teh breaker we had to buy was defective...so they put in a defective breaker...basically left and didnt care to check and figure out what was wrong wtih the AC. they didnt do their job at all and worse-- they had NO apologies for it -- just didn't care at all. Worse, the stupid idiots STILL decided it was THEIR JOB to come and remove the bee nest...they came with a broom and pulled it off however...they only pulled off a PORTION of it so now thanks to those jerks there are bees or wasps ALL over my front door? and they havent' left? at least before they were contained and not a huge threat -- this company is incompetent or the people that work there are and don't care to help the situation out just do nothing about it and leave...this was very frustrating as we were out of AC for two weeks and it was the fault of BFS and they didn't do anything about it and decided it's their job to meddle in people's other problems and cause MORE problems for them...really bad company beware!

rude service, just bad...incompetent technicians
im not sure what is wrong with this company or the techs they send out to people. It is just a erally bad company it seems. Our AC wasnt working and yes someone came out right away...or soon. However, they couldnt' fix it because they didnt have this one part. The tech was rude adn weird...he was over an hour late and I had to go to work. Then the next day another tech came...he fixed the thing on the unit...but it still wasn't working after he left. It seems they don't want to do a thorough job or even care about people's situations. Then, after the tech left, the unit didn't work again and we called for emergency service-- they said they were too busy for emergency service and came out the next day. My unit miraculously had begun working...then, but my relative wanted it checked out anyway otu of fear tha something could happen again. Then, the same tech came, and claims everything was ok and he cleaned otu the drain line...or pipe. However, after he left-- there was this really nasty odor coming from it all. I later called the tech to ask him what the odor could be- he proceeded to rudely inform me "no one else has comlpained about an odor liek that and it cant be from the drain line"...really? have to try to single me out as if my complaint or question was bogus...he was actnig as if it was impossible for me to be smelling something strange...or that i was weird or making it up-- again just stupid attitude. In the end he told me I could pour something down the drain myself to get the odor away. I said i smelled "metaL" and his response was "METAL FROM WHERE"? he was just rude condescending and rude...no point in being so rude for no reason. I wasn't happy with the service or any of it...now my place smells like rusted metal or something or like ocean water and quite nasty. i can barely breathe in it... im not sure what they did but still their attitudes were just rude...they cant fix an ac and are incompetent and can't figure out what's wrong...then cause your house to smell like mold or something...just bad service and company...

I have to agree with all that you've said, I am in Texas and today's temp is 103 and I had a tech come out because my a/c was not cooling. He was rude and not helpful at all as related to explaining what needed to be done in rectifying the situation. When I explained to him that I was not HVAC certified and he would need to be precise in his guidance, he clearly became irritated with me and then went on to tell me what was covered, what wasn't covered and if I wanted th work done, he would come back out and charge me full price for the work. The coverages are not clear as it relates to what is covered, what isn't covered, what the techs will do and what they won't do. This tech was clearly clueless because he was asking me about placement of the filters while I was asking the same question. I am going to ask for a refund as I just renewed my contract last Friday. I told him I just wasted $55 and he said it wasn't a waste, you got 2 lbs of freon put in the system. Well idiot, that wasn't the cost of the freon, that was the cost of the service call! I loathe BFS and hate I ever signed up with them.
Won't fix
We have a appliance service contract with Broward Factory Service. It covers plumbing repairs as well. When our hot water heater stopped heating the water like it used to, we called Broward Factory and they want to replace the hot water heater - and charge me and additional $500 for it! (a brand new hot water heater from Home Depot costs $380!).
We previously had a problem with toilet running constantly. Called Broward Factory Service and they came and said that it was a special type of a toilet and they needed to order parts for it. They did this 4 times and still did not fix the toilet. We called a regular plumber and he fixed it in 20 minutes with parts that he carried in his truck.
bait and switch
Rip off company. We signed contract with them for the highest level coverage. Three days ago our a/c broke. Sunday morning I placed a call to them. They promise that maybe on Wednesday (!) it will be fixed. In mean time they already charged us for emergency visit (not in the contract) $106.00, they wanted another $100.00 for the part (also not according to the contract). Classic bait and switch tactics making it worse by taking advantage of Florida weather which makes a/c repair a very pressing issue especially for elderly, sick people or families with little children ( our case).
should have read your reviews before I signed up with them 2 years ago-
I have had very few service reqests but evey on had a2-3 day delay in arriving and they only srvice my area in the afternoon 12 noon to 5 pm
I recently called because my bathroom sinks were dripping--when the Tech arrived he said they do not have Moen parts-but if i contacted Moen and told the I was an original owner They would supply the faucet repair pats at no charge--the Tech had told me when Iget the part they would install it at no charge (as in the service contract--I called the service department to tell them I had the part and I was told there would be a charge of $89.98- I told them I only needed the free installation -I was then told there was no free installion and the cost would be $40 for each faucet--When i called back the office manager took the call and said the cost is $60. each--after a vocal exchange she said some one would call back--I am-still waiting--Avoid this company Mel Paul Boca Raton Fl
No response to an emergency
I have a legacy contract from a previous owner that I renewed again with Broward Factory Service covering all appliances and plumbing. Yesterday, just before 8pm, I noticed water leaking from a tube under my refrigerator. It was surprising especially since I had not used the icemaker or water line over the last 15 months.
I called the Broward Factory Service but had to leave a message for them after dialing all the options for emergency service. Their answering machine stated that they would respond within the hour in the case of emergencies. However, as I post this, it has now been about 29 hours and I have not heard back from them about this service issue. Yesterday night, after waiting for them to call back, I had to call a plumber and pay money to fix the issue - something that Broward Factory service should have done since this was covered under contract.
Earlier in the afternoon, I called them to cancel the contract and a lady at the other end curtly informed me that they respond to emergencies within 24 hours (!) and someone would call me. It appears that their policy is to refund only a prorated amount after deductions and requests for cancellations must be made in writing. Quite fascinating that this comapny would enforce all other payment and refund aspects of the contract but does not care at all about their service obligations.

Poor Service
I have had a warranty with BFS for about a year and a half. This is the third time I've called them about my A/C unit. It happens to be a Saturday so I had to leave a message for emergency service hoping a technician would call back. He did. Two hours later. He stated that although the answering service detailing A/C issues were emergency situations, the temperature outside had to be over 99 degrees for it to be considered an emergency. Today happens to be overcast, which is rare in August in Las Vegas, so it's only 87 degrees outside right now. I tried to explain to the technician that although it's only 87 degrees outside (which is considered hot for any other place in the US) it's already 80 degrees in my house where three young children live. He said that if it warms up today then they MIGHT come, but there's no guarantee it will even be tomorrow. For all he knows, it will be 87 degrees at seven in the morning tomorrow (it does get that hot that early here). By two o'clock it could (more like probably) be in the triple digits! Why did I pay over 500 dollars for this warranty when it has to be an extremely uncomfortable situation for my family to get service?! I'm extremely dissatisfied with BFS. My contract expires in February and I will NOT be renewing it! I will spend the remaining time I have left on my contract shopping for a new, better warranty company.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I've dealt with the Las Vegas division for 3 years, the manager is rude. They don't want to fix what's up warranty. They tried to find what's not covered so they can charge you . I told them my problem with the hot water tank, under warranty with them. They use excuses, it needs to be flushed . After flushing, same problem . I went to my next door neighbor to check their water, for comparsion, my water rusty, cloudy, neighbors water clear. Try to tell me it was better. They decided to take the tank to their shop, "To Flush. I guess flushing didn't work. They bought a new tank, Really! Now after installing a new tank. I was asked to paid for a flushing. The service tech, nice guy, only doing what he was told. I refuse to pay for a flushing when flushing was their suggestion . If flushing had worked. I would have paid BIGGEST RIPOFF. Bad dog!
Failure to provide service
Notified Broward Factory Service about a very slow flow of water from the Kitchen faucett.
Service man came to my home, looked at the faucett, and indicated that I needed to replace the faucett.
Never checked to see if there was any accumulated debris within the common filter area or anything else. He just walked out.
I brought issue to the attention of their people including their service manager, who abruptly showed tital disrespect for me with abusive accusations and then hung up the telephone.
In speaking to a manager there, he never directed any attention to what had transpired, but would only ask if he could help. I had already been abused, and I made it clear that I would not accept this form of treatment.
I am confident that should I see legal restitution, the judge will find that there failure to provide the proper remedy in the fixinhg of the faucett.made the contract null and void.
I have been a customer whose record shows very limited calls, and their treatment of me was very abusive!
I am planning to bring this matter before judicial review for recovery of fully paid services that never took place!

Yup, I was a 20 year client with 4 properties, The last 2 years they have been HORRIBLE and tried to sell me replacement that were not needed.
Broward in the Hobe Sound area is horrific. They cancel more often than not, , give their techs wrong information so when the techs show up it's for a different job than what you asked for, techs show up without proper supplies for routine inspections, problems, etc. It took one visit from another company to diagnosis and fix something that, for four years, Broward couldn't or wouldn't address And that problem was because Broward installed the duct incorrectly. There is no public information regarding the owner or president, and no way to contact that person. I can''t help but feel this is a company that was handed down to a lazy child who has no idea how to run a business. How many times can you send someone to the same house to fix the same damn problem? Instead of making money on a call, you're losing money because your time and resources are mishandled. Now, after I told them I wanted nothing further to do with them, they keep sending me contract renewals and calling me. Go ahead Broward, keep spending your dime because it's my turn to ignore you and dick you around.
I have had contract for nearly 20 years. This past year have had several issues which they were HORRIBLE at resolving, IE coming back 3-4 times for the same issue.
This week was the KICKER- Incompetent and Unethical. Had an AC freeze up (8 years old). They came out and said it was leaking freon. They said they would put freon in it and if it still froze up, that meant is had a freon lead and could not be fixed. It froze up again- so Broward tried to see me at $3, 000 dollar AC unit. This sounded "fishy" So I had another company evaluate the unit. They found the unit to be OVER filled with freon, NO leak, and the only problem was the coils needed to be cleaned. Far less than the $3k unit they they tried to see me (even with my contract)... Stay away- Dangerous company.
Have a contract with them that states if they cannot fix appliance they must replace. they have been trying to fix the air conditioner without any success on fixing but have been very successful at make it worse. it is now leaking and making a knocking noise.
DO NOT allow this company to service your A/C Unit. BFC destroyed my A/C unit due to a faulty repair of compressor in 2012. BFC did not bolt down compressor and also wired wrong. BFC sent three technicians to my home in April 2014 and not one was able to correctly diagnose issue. BFC created a fire hazard and also a electrocution risk due to wiring. BFC sent a technician to my home (while I was not home) to change wiring and refused to send invoice ( I am assuming out of fear of legal action). I have been a customer with this company for 7 years they did well on other household appliances. Manager Cameron is extremely rude and representatives that answer phone lack customer service skills. I contacted corporate who offered to "match price" on a new unit and also advised that technician that installed compressor in 2012 and that misdiagnosed unit April 2014 was "fired". BFC mistake cost me $5, 000.
BBLW I threatened legal action, whether their contract says anything about "intend to repair" or not... they took off with the motor to my air conditioner AND the fan blades, and did not tell me. I honestly felt unsafe around the tech (my dogs certainly did not like him) and their lack of concern led to my fiance nearly suffering heat exhaustion/stroke. They tried to him-haw around with me, but knew that, no matter what clause was in their contract, I meant it when I said there would be legal action. My brother's father in law ended up fixing my air conditioner with the parts they dropped off. I also told them I intended on canceling the warranty and having them repay the seller the money he wasted on it. Funny how it worked when I told them that.
I have been without a dishwasher for over a month. The Broward service technician concluded that the 13 year old appliance was beyond repair and recommended replacement. Since I had replacement coverage, they were contractually bound to replace with a new dishwasher of "equal or better" quality. I was told that someone would contact me within a few days to arrange a settlement. After I waited a week I called and was told the manager responsible for replacments was "out of town". I called back a few days later and got him on the phone. He promised to to arrange a buyout so I could purchase an equal machine, or apply it towards one of better quality by paying the difference. He then passed me off to an assistant to get the model number of the broken dishwasher. Meanwhile, I had shopped and priced the exact same machine at $450. After not hearing anything from Broward for several more days I again called and was told that the manager was willing to pay me $200 towards a replacement. I declined and demanded $450, at which point they said they would order the parts and fix it. Three weeks later, the parts are still on "back order" and I have been given no time frame when I can expect a repair. Finally, I insisted that the dishwasher needed to be fixed within a week and was told the tech would be to my house today. They never showed and I never received a call to say he wasn't coming. I can only conclude that this is their standard operating procedure. Their contract says you cannot take action as long as they state they "intend to repair". Their contract, however, puts no time limit on how long they have to repair anything. They can say they "intend to repair" and then let you sit for months if they want to. Broward Factory Service are rip-off artists -- unprofessional and unreliable.
I am not sure if I should be shocked or not, because our story is EXTREMELY similar! The difference being it is our air conditioning unit, and we're under a state wide heat advisory right now! BFS has been a NIGHTMARE for us, and we are also looking in to legal action against this company. The sweet man who bought our warranty for us did NOT pay to have us abused!
Stove Needs To Be Fixed
My stove stopped working on 10/23/2008. On 10/24/2008 somewhere between 9:18 am and 9:38 am I called and placed a service request. When the representative told me they would not be out until 10/27/2008, I advised her that this was unacceptable as per the apartment contract as long as I called before 10 am they had to come out that day. They came out on 10/24/2008 and claim that they had to order a part. On either 10/28/2008 or 10/29/2008, a service technician came out again and claimed that they had the wrong part. Now, we are on 11/04/2008. After my conversation with the nasty young lady at the Jacksonville office today at [protected], I have filed a complaint with the local Better Business Bureau. They claim the part is on order but based off the comments I have read on this website, I could be waiting a while. This is not the first issue I have had with them and as long as I live at this apartment it won't be the last. Their service will be one of the reasons I will not sign another lease with this complex.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have had similar experiences with Broward Factory Services. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Most of the customer service representatives tell you different things meaning you will get 5 different answers from 5 different people. Additionally, Jerry is very rude and nasty. Not to mention, I have been waiting for a dryer and AC part for over a month now. All these things speak volumes about a company. I would never recommend this company to a friend or colleague.
