I had the worst experience every. Below is the email I sent to Budget explaining what they did.
A Letter to Budget Car Rental:
I want you to know that this was the worse car rental experience I have ever had. Even though my being upset will not make a dent in your company (As I was told by LXXXXX HXXX, a call center supervisor) I want you to understand that I will tell everyone I know and everyone I meet that you are the worst car rental company out there. My husband made a mistake and rear ended a another car. The rental was not badly damaged and was completely covered by our insurance policy. No one was hurt. He only hit the car at about 15 mph. However the police officer did not want it driven because the bumper was bent towards the tire. We did everything we were supposed too. We notified you, waited for the police, and had the car towed. When my husband got back to the airport your office there refused to give him another car and charged us an inflated rate because we returned the car early, even though you were the one who refused us another car for the rest of the week. I have read through the policies and contract and no where does it state that if in an accident you will refuse someone another car. So my husband was stranded at the airport without a car and had to go to another car rental and pay again, effectively tripling our car rental fee. This was my 4 year olds first trip to to DisneyWorld and when something bad happened your company made it worse. Your company had the power to make this bad situation into just a bump in the road. Instead everyone myself and my husband talked to were rude and inconsiderate. Who cares if a family vacation was ruined a small fender bender. Obviously none at your company. All we heard was why would we give another car to you when you can't drive. As if none of your employees have been in a car accident before. I personally travel for work two weeks out of the month and will do my best to see to it that my company no longer uses you.
I hope I can succeed, but even if I don't succeed with my company I will tell everyone I know that your company has the worst customer service ever! In fact I'm going to post this on my Myspace and I hope it goes viral!
Budget: tried to defraud me in Denver Colorado, San Francisco and Dublin Ireland. When I called their hand in IReland on the deiiberate fraud, the tried to bribe me. When that didn t work, they threatened me with PHYSICAL HARM!
Shannon Budget is as bad as Dublin!
They rent these big truck to people that dont know how to drive them, and because of that my truck got totaled, and now there insurance doesn't want to pay for my vehicle or my hospital bills, so watch out for these drivers lord knows if they can even handle the truck ( you might be their next victim!
RIPPED OFF and ROBBED by the CROOKS at Budget car rental. Budget car rental on 87t street in New York City are COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I locked in a rate for the long weekend by booking online: $109.99 for the first day and $61.99 for the second day. With taxes, it added up to $206. This is an exorbitant amount of money to rent a car for 2 days, but I decided to deal with it because I was going to my friends wedding and renting a car and driving was my only way to get there.
When I returned the car, I returned 16 hours early. As far as I understand, returning after 24 hours is considered 2 days and that I was to be charged $206 as I originally expected. However, budget PENALIZED me for returning EARLY and increased my rate to $164.99 per day (TOTAL $395.56 for 2 days with taxes). This was almost twice what I originally expected to pay.
Even though I supposedly returned "early" and was penalized for it, I still was charged for 2 days at a higher rate. How much sense does that make? When I told the agent I wanted the car back so that I could return it 16 hours late and receive my original rate of $206, but she REFUSED to give the car back to me, claiming that my contract had already been closed. If you're going to increase my rate, the least you can do is TELL ME before you charge my credit card and close my contract. She took away the option for me to keep the car for another 16 hours and get my $190 back.
In the end, stuck with a $395 bill for a car I rented for one day and 6 hours. LUDICROUS. I will NEVER rent from this location EVER again!
Rented a car thru the Sears AVIS/Budget car rental in Rockford, Il. The guy there was very nice and has been trying to help me with my complaint. But he can only do so much. I was told if I kept the car/suv for an addl' day that it would be 181.80 dollars. But when I got to Dallas, Tx, these money grubbing ### wanted to get me for an additional 307.42. They owe me some 50.00 dollars credit, but because, the N-word bytch at the AVIS/Budget rental place that I returned the car to was more offended that I took the word of the man in rockford, il over hers...just because we are the same race i'm supposed to be okay with being dycked over on my money? BUMP! THAT! This isnt the first time that AVIS has screwed me. But the last time they refunded my money no problems. I will spread the word to NEVER use Budget. I'm gonna smear that company every chance I get.
Funny, I had a bad experience with the same Orlando Budget agency. A piece of the under-carriage of my rental fell partially off within 10 miles of leaving the airport. Took over two HOURS for someone from the agency to drive the 10 miles to recover the vehicle and swap it out for another one. They seemed to be inconvenienced by the situation...not rude, but not apologetic in the least.
Still dealing with being charged for the "damage" to the car. Injury to insult. How reasonable is it for customers to check fasteners on the under-carriage of the car?
We rented a vehicle for a weekend (ladies) in Cape Town on 28 Sep 2014. The even upgraded us and found the service friendly. We checked and made notes on the car like the mileage and color and any dents or scratch marks. But failed to look at the tyres. After driving 3500 we had ourselves a flat tyre. When we chaged it we noticed how bad the tyres really were. When we commented to the guy at reception when returning the vehicle I was told to put it in writing.
Budget is currently trying to defraud me out of almost $5,000.
I was in an accident and totaled the car.
In addition to charging me (i.e. my insurance company) for the car, they are also charging me for 29 additional days of rental - even though the car was sitting in a wrecking yard the entire time. Yes, I notified them the day after the accident, and several times since then.
70 years old, and this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Zero communication - several emails and certified letter ('where is the car?') even though I called in the accident several times.
The airbag didn't even work.

Totaled the car. In addition to charging me (i.e. my insurance company) for the car, they are charging me for 29 additional days of rental - even though the car has been sitting in a wrecking yard the entire time, and they were notified the day after the accident (and several times since then).
Zero communication, zero ethics -
70 years old, worst excuse for a company I have ever seen.
