Don't go with Canadian Northern Shield
Don't go with Canadian Northern Shield. I been with them for years and they made $30k-50k in premiums. I had a small theft claim in Vancouver in 2019, only about $2k. I wanted to get a quote for a new place in Port McNeil. I had a company to remove asbestos siding and I would move in the next day after the work was done. They said no - something about the location.

I got insurance from Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Co
I got insurance from Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Co. for my stolen items with replacement value. Unfortunately, my truck got stolen with my *** watch inside. They offered me a replacement watch, but it's not the same as the one I lost. I want another *** watch instead.
We had insurans claim less than a year ago cuz of leak in our basement
We had insurans claim less than a year ago cuz of leak in our basement. At first, everything was good. But then, when we got new floors, the installer said our floor wasn't level. We spent lotsa money on the old floors and never had a problem with the level before. The installer said it would cost $1500 to fix it. We told the insurans company and they said it's a "Maintenance" problem and not covered. But our policy says everything should be like it was before the damage. But it's not. We still have problems with the floors and it hasn't even been a year.
I got 3 houses insured with CNS
I got 3 houses insured with CNS. One of them had a sewer backup at ***. I called *** and they fixed it. But after two weeks, the sewer backed up again. I asked *** to contact *** to fix it. They replaced the sewer line and the Town of *** did an upgrade (previously scheduled) to the area. I paid for the first backup myself, which was $1600, about $400 less than the deductible. CNS paid for the second backup. But now they won't insure the house because it had two losses in the same year. They didn't care that I paid for the first backup and that it wasn't dealt with properly. They told my broker on Oct.8/21, one day before the insurance expired (Oct.9/21) that they wouldn't insure the house. On Sept 20, a roof inspect. done; said roof good 8-10 yrs.

I paid all the money for my condo insurance policy to Canadian Northern Shield Insurance or CNS
I paid all the money for my condo insurance policy to Canadian Northern Shield Insurance or CNS. They put me on an Auto-Renewal contract without asking me or giving me a good reason (I never paid month to month and always paid the full amount). They raised my condo insurance rates by over 50% in 2 years. It started at $600 per year and now it's $938. I can't afford that. I got a new insurance provider. CNS wants $103 from me for canceling the Auto-Renewal Contract. They say I should have called them to cancel. I think if I pay for a 1-year policy, it ends after 1 year. I don't need to call to cancel. They sent the bill to collections and hurt my credit. I don't have a job and can't pay $103. If I paid month to month, I understand the Auto-Renewal. But I paid in full, so there's no reason for it. CNS is bad. Don't use them.
