I was a new hire as of a week or two ago. I started working two days after my interview when I wasn't even supposed to start training until a week after my interview. When the day I was supposed to start came around, I was expecting the day to be filled with onboarding stuff so I asked the manager on shift what I needed to do. He said he didn't know how to set anything up so don't worry about it. So I didn't. Well as of a couple of days ago, I had an allergic reaction along with other things so I have not been able to work. Yesterday, I was called and told that if I do not come into work, I would be fired. So I went to the doctor to see if my self diagnosis was right. It was. So I passed on said information and the store manager told me to stop by the store so she can put me in the system atleast so I don't get taken off the schedule. So I proceeded to do so. I was told I was good to go home so I did. Well, tonight I got a text from my store manager informing me that I was terminated because I failed to fill out the I-9 form that no one ever gave me or told me how to access it. She claims she tried calling me multiple times along with fellow coworkers. I only received one call from her and only her. I did not answer nor realize she called as I was sleeping and my phone had died over the night. Let alone I am out of school and work due to health issues so the last thing on my mind is work.
My problem with all of this is the way everything went. If I wasn't supposed to start till a said day, don't ask me to come in till said day. If I was supposed to fill out a form, tell me, show me how to access it, etc. I am an employee, not a slave. No one should ever be treated the way I just was.
Desired outcome: As an outcome of this complaint, I would like to see two things happen. 1. The store manager terminated from her position.2. I would like a conversation with someone with a higher position than district manager.
