CDI College Books

As a CDI Student we are obliged to pay all the books from school, We are not allowed to buy books from outside or from previous students of the same program who recently graduated. I am squeezing my budget and trying to find ways to save but unfortunately whether we like it or not we are paying the books because as per the finance Administration of CDI College - Heather Harris, it was already in the contract that I signed and it cannot be altered. I respect and understand that, that's why I have no choice but to return the books that I already bought from a previous student. I am working on the amount due for the payment of books and I requested a hardcopy of the books because I have a problem reading in front of the computer for a long time and also, I am sharing the laptop with my daughter who is also in college, and hardcopy book is more accessible to me. I emailed Loree Cleghorn and requested a hardcopy of the Who Am I In the lives of the Children. and she replied "Unfortunately I have no hard copy to give you, this is an e book and its only available online. If its only available online how come the previous students has the hard copy during their time? and Amazon and other bookstore has it. If we are not allowed to buy books from outside then the school should provide us the preferred book format that we need for our learning, and as student we have the right to choose a book format that is more comfortable for us, We are on Child growth and Development and we will be using mostly the WAI book for the entire duration of the Program and It is really hard for me to be in front of the computer and reading for a long time, not only it affects my health but also my learning.

Desired outcome: I need to have a hard copy book.

Where are you guys from? In BC taking network systems adminsitrator and told them day one i was buying my own books (was in my contract that i could and bc law states that the school cannot compel students to buy books from them) despite this they still took student loan money for books (which id paid for out of pocket) took them 3 months to pay me back, and then jan the started calling me telling me i owed them money for books, won out in the long run, but id read local regulation because i believe most provinces have similar legislation

I agree that hard copies should be available, e-text or not we are being charged inflated prices for books that we do not actually have but are assigned to our emails. That's a lot of money for an e text. I was not informed of that clause being in the contract until after I was admitted.

CDI College Ineffective Grading System

To whom this may concern,

Good day to all!

I have attached the thread of our conversation regarding the midterm exam for the course Payroll 2: Payroll Processing.

I am writing an email regarding my issues concerned. My issue will be this very recent one. I have spent three hours on my first attempt for the Midterm Exam last Friday, October 1, from 1:43pm to 4:43pm and score 29/60 which is obviously failed. We have two attempts for this exam, "highest grading system", highest grade will be recorded, and it says that I can do the retest after 4:43pm of Saturday October 2. Before I took my second attempt, I reviewed the first attempt and of course paid attention on questions that I got incorrectly. When I am ready for the second attempt, I hit the re-take the quiz button to start my test. It is the same exam that I did for the first attempt so of course I know my mistakes and know the correct answers, I will definitely choose and compute the right answers and calculations based on my first attempt. I spent another two hours and 55 minutes on the second attempt focusing more on questions I got wrong and those that I was not able to answer on the first time. I did my second attempt from 5:50pm to 8:50pm, Saturday, October 2. Today, October 3, Sunday morning, when I checked the grade for my second attempt it was scored 50/60. I checked the exam where I had mistaken and pay attention to what the comment was. I opened both my first and second attempt exams and compared them. After comparing them I sent an email to our Teacher Assistant, Helen Lam to re-check the numbers where I had recorded incorrect as it was marked correct on the first attempt. Also, I did the computations based on the comments given from the first one, however, marked off and incorrect. First, it was not my fault that I am given the same set of examination for the second attempt. Second, it would be unfair that I am marked 29/60 for the final rating for midterm as it was not the "Highest Grading System". I had spent six hours in total for first and second attempt on the exam that I am given the same set. For the last email, I am being offered to take another exam and spend another three hours on it. I don't think there is justice on that situation. Do I have to spend three more hours and failed or pass, or they should stick to their policy as it was never my fault, I am not the one giving the sets of examinations or scheduling when to retake the test.

Attached herewith are the screenshots of my first and second attempt grade, and the other picture is where my final grade for the midterm where they gave me the 29/60 marked failed.

Hi, I saw my midterm today and I need a re-check for numbers 1, 2, 10, 13, 15, 17, 19, 33, and 34.
These numbers are exactly what I answered from the comments on my first attempt. On my first attempt I got 7pts on numbers 17 and on 33 I just did exactly what the comment was from my first.

Hello Nadine,

You are not supposed to redo the exam, the second attempt was only allowed if it hasn't been graded or if it was technical issue. We'll have to record your grade for the midterm at 29/60 instead of 50/60 as answers were already provided from the first marking.

Oh this is unfair tho, it says yesterday that I can re-attempt already and it's not my fault that the content wasn't changed at all! I will not re-attempt unless it will not permit me, but it let me do the test again unchanged. If you will record 29/60 that will not be the highest grading system. This needs to bring out to the admin as it is never my fault at all.

Hi Nadine,

I understand and apologize that it wasn't communicated on time however as the exam was graded instantly for multiple choices and written response was also graded shortly after. Speaking of fairness, would it make sense for CDI to expect students to redo the exam for higher score using the answers given?

Kim and I have given many opportunities for students to redo assignments with unlimited attempts This is something we don't have to do but we are being nice and fair as we want students to learn and be prepared for the exams as we are not able to make exception.

We can offer you to write another exam to replace all the questions that you got wrong in the first attempt. However this will be used as your final grade so if it is lower than the first attempt, we won't be able to adjust.

CDI College refund of tuition fees

i have got refusal from canada on 13 july 2021 therefore i asked for refund n made a request for refund. i had applied for refund in july 2021 and its been more than 2 months since i havent got any refund response. i m in dire need as i have to pay back that money from whom i had taken . its very urgent i have applied with wire payment process as well still no response . i m seeking help. this delays putting me in depression as i have to return money.

CDI College On line courses

There is no teacher instructing, it is all self taught by reading books and using your own computers. They payroll section of my course, I am being charged 32000 dollars and you can do it yourself online through CPA for under 2000. I am so disappointed with CDI.I quit not even 2 months and now they expect me to pay them over 10 grand plus books I cant even keep.Why is the government even funding this?They got nearly 10 grand from student loans.They are harrassing me for over 4 grand, and I get no expenses for living.They need to be stopped.

CDI College Financial aid reported wrong calendar dates resulting in bursary converting to loan

During my stay in CDI College (Scarborough Branch), the financial aid office misreported my year - 1 end date and year - 2 start date resulting in a difference of 1 month. OSAP ministry thought that I was out of college for a month, where as I was still attending classes in the college. Due to this mistake, the OSAP ministry converted nearly $ 2600 from bursray to loan. It has now been nearly 18 months and every single person in CDI College office has been approached, with the recent person being their regional head, but no one has done anything.

Patience is after all not a virtue.

Almost the same thing was happened with me. Financial Department misguided me about the required documentation and my entire grant converted to loan. I approached everyone in OSAP, Ministry, CDI no one has taking any botheration.

CDI College 'unethical behaviour'

To Whom It May Concern:

I started my course back in 2020. As I was waiting for my funding to arrive, to purchase my computer. And I had mention to my Instructor at the time, I did not have a computer to work on. All I had was a small little phone that I could barely see off of, nevermind work on. This went on for weeks. Next thing I find out, I'm kicked out of class. But they cover their backs saying that I dropped out.

Now I have another Issue where I started back In December 2020, Then didn't send me a code to get into my books. I lost my Loan number, I have requested it many of times but to no avail. They have sent me a different username, to get Into my nslsc account. Which I find very frustrating,

Now I am told that I need to start paying my loan back. My course doesn't end till October 2021.

I'm on CPP Disability and they want $400.00 a month, what do I live off of for the month?

CDI College Fraudulent grading activities

I attended CDI in 2019 for the 18 month legal assistant course. Amping several other issues was their fraudulent grading activity and passing students who don't really know what they r doing. Complaints and proof have got me nowhere with CDI. From the time I signed up I was never informed that they were not accredited, nor did I realiZe ther name is crap and any reputable lawyer tosses resumes from CDI students directly into the trash either way.

CDI College Unethical practice, teachings and refusal of refunds

I am in red deer ab I have currently withdrawn from ycsw program, all I can say is unbelievable! They kept 60% of my tuition when they didn't deliver what they promise to do in their contract. So many unethical things in my 3 months of being in the program.
I'm seeking some legal help to see if I have a case, but did see on here people wanting to join a class action lawsuit in bc, im all over it
Before you sign with cdi they call all the time now can't get a call back.
Biggest scam college ever.
I have been in contact with minister of advanced education and hopefully they will investigate further.

One of my friend is studies in cdi college, his study permit was going to expire and he asked the college for transscripts and other documents, but college did not replied any phone call and emails. He is depression because this college coordinators and the heads, please help us!

CDI College CDI college online program

I enrolled in June of 2021 in the Social Worker Professional program. I was super excited to be doing school again and it's only been almost two months since then. Over that time, I've had problem after problem with this course, it's professors and the school itself. This has caused me to lose all drive to continue so this is my list of issues that have never been solved.

I was rushed into a program and the signing process with very little information, the information I did receive was from a worker who is temperamental and doesn't handle having to explain things differently once or twice for someone to understand something.
There was a login issue that was blamed on me, I was told that if I didn't login I would be terminated even though there were notes on file of me contacting someone about the issue. The person who got me into the college was let go because they were solely focused on trying to fix this issue not only for me, but for hundreds of their other students.
Very unresponsive and unaccomidating professors.
I'm unable to find or even download the textbooks I need and have already paid almost $2, 000 for.
I am unable to submit certain projects on the website or over email to my professors apparently due to size of the file and if I make it smaller, I lose marks because it doesn't include every thing that's necessary.
I am unable to do some of the projects due to equipment needed, the expenses to buy said equipment is not in my budget.
All submitted assignments say that they are submitted but not graded for weeks after being submitted and the module being done.
Not being able to see what my grades are then suddenly getting an email saying I've failed everything so far.
Modules disappearing so I have no ability to check or edit anything.
I am unable to contact anyone about the issues most of the time, the rest of the time I receive no information or solutions back after making contact.
Unaccomidating to mental health/personal self health schedules or needs and eliminating any and all time for the recommended amount of social time. I.e, classes being scheduled on holidays, important days you express that you need off for various reasons and breaks most students would have off.
Very unaccomadating to medical/mental health breaks recommended and needed to be able to continue with the classes.
I had to basically teach myself an entire course without knowing anything about anything.
I lost so much sleep, weight, time with my sick and healthy family members, job opportunities, friends and a healthy standing in my relationship with my partner due to the stress of these issues and feeling pushed to work myself into the ground just to attend this hell of a college.

Desired outcome: Ideally, it would be to have all of these issues fixed but at this point, I want to completely cut ties from CDI. If it doesn't end soon, I fear that my mental health and my life is in severe danger.

CDI College MOA COURSE-Mississauga Campus

Up until this point I was enjoying the Education I was receiving through CDI, the prior instructors were knowledgeable and highly organized and I never had any problems in regards to receiving the education I paid for. Now myself and all of my classmates are struggling due to the lack of instructors able to teach at this campus, they have appointed a student as our instructor for Transcription and we have not learned 1 SINGLE THING in 3 weeks. It is clear this student is not an instructor and basically prompts us that she emailed an assignment or transcript and then we all sit in silence for 5 hours...there is no direction, no fundamentals of this module being taught at all, we were given an exam in which no one understood what to do nor after being marked did this student instructor know how to answer any of our related questions, we have not opened the book once and at this point and we are self teaching this module (NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR). We have complained numerous times emailed/called the campus and they wont even answer us at this point nor are they willing to help but best believe if they need money from you 10 different people will call you non stop .It seems as though we are to just self teach this module which was said to be one of the hardest modules of this course...I am/ we are all so disappointed and discouraged at this point. I used to look forward to my schooling and this has really differed my outlook on CDI and what they have to offer.
Noted: This student has also been posted as the up coming instructor for my next 3 modules needless to say thanks for setting us up for disaster CDI...what a joke.

CDI College Teacher, rodrigo hernandez and dominic cheung

I'm feeling like I'm being abused by the teacher (Rodrigo) who ignores my important emails, I finished my classroom portion for the ssw professional course and have run into a few problems on a count of cdi's unorganization and failing to do my CRC before enrolling, so I've had to push my life plans back 2 months and told Dominic And Rodrigo I've contacted a lawyer, which I have. Ever since I made Rodrigo aware of this he only messages me if he needs something, I needed a letter for childcare subsidy so I told Rodrigo about this hoping he could help, but he did not respond, also I needed help with information on signing school papers, he did not get back to me, then he needed something from me school wise and I sent it back ASAP, he's teaching people to help people in need but does not practice these skills himself which I feel he needs to lead by example. I've attached some emails here and I hope this matter is dealt with because it's frustrating and I feel like I've been used and abused out left in the ditch to die! This is not fair that the teachers and school are allowed to get away with such abuse! Classes are via Microsoft teams

I started the CDA program the beginning of June 2021 at the Surrey, BC campus. We had our first exam on July 9th in Anatomy and Physiology. I failed my exam. CDI College Paralegal school

So I enrolled into the paralegal program in March of this year 2021. I have had nothing but issues from not being enrolled into classes to not being able to get logged into the the campus period to teachers ignoring me . I have ample amounts of screen shots and I am now kicked out and expected to pay for an education I have not received at all . I haven't received all the books for half the classes so on the off chance I can get logged in I'm stuck trying to guess answers on tests . This is absolutely unacceptable more so when you're being told you haven't attended but then talk to someone else who says well my system says you have . I am thoroughly unimpressed and have got myself a lawyer to fight this . Here is a start I have many many more pictures

CDI College Tuition

I started the online Accounting & Payroll Administration program through CDI College Edmonton on September 27, 2020. When I signed up for this course, I was under the imression that the online aspect would make the program more flexible and fit my lifestyle of working and maintaining a household. This program was so time restricted and did not leave much time for study during normal daily life. Majority of the program was self taught. The instructors were absolutely useless especially the one teaching the main accounting course. I paid $19, 184.00 including $1203 for ONLINE TEXTBOOKS for a program that I had to teach myself. Regardless of whether I passed or not, this cost is absolutely and disgustingly ridiculous. I've attempted many times since the start of the program to contact someone about getting at least a partial refund and have not seen any resolution. I wouldn't recommend this college to my worst enemy.

CDI College Withdraw and refund

I started my Education Assistant online program with CDI College on June 7 2021. I realized two days into my program that CDI College was not the right fit for me. I have sent numerous e-mails, voicemails, and I have called Student Services more than 25 times. You have 7 days to withdraw to receive a full refund. Now we are on day 5 with ZERO response from them. It is like they are trying to wait to response in order to keep my money.

Everyone always called me back or emailed me when I expressed interest in enrolling. Now it is a ghost town! I just want my student loan back so I can enroll with a college that fits me better. Please help

Same here.
I clearly told them that I would like to wait if i can get approved for the grant first before I take the course. June 21st is the start of my course, I called them in the morning of June 21st to inform that i dont have the answer about my loan application yet and they told me to attend on the first day anyway. So june 21st just passed lunch i saw that i got approved but I didn’t get any grant from the government which I am really depending on because I cannot pay the expensive tuition fee.. So right there I informed all of them that I cannot pay this much loan and i am not comfortable to continue on this and I don’t think it is my fault as they didn’t disclosed that their 8months course is not eligible for the grant from the government! The admin assured me that I will get a grant from the government that is why i took a chance to apply. I called studentaid to cancel the loan as I cannot pay it back and now CDi is charging me $4, 000 for this which is ridiculous!
Can someone help me where can I file a complain regarding this?
